      it is better than ZERO.
Sometimes it's wise not to reply at all.
      Username checks out lol

  • +8

Everyone remember that in the T&C it says 1st listing only. Does not apply to relisted items..best to cancel and list as new item.
I got burnt on the Dec listing after it got relisted but managed to get 50% back after chatting with Ebay as it was a large amount. I should have read the comments in Ozbargain. Well I learnt my lesson.

Sell similar works for me always. It keeps the listing format but creates a new eBay listing ID

      • Same here alway use "sell similar item" and on the mobile app then "keep photos" 👍

Edit: that last year $9.99 eBay plus yearly offer certainly was worth it, even the $4.99 eBay plus for a month is also worth it especially if selling an expensive item 😀

      • So I just accepted the offer, created a new listing as an auction set to end in 10 days

but the promotion is not showing as consumed within seller hub — how can I confirm that the new listing is eligible for the promotion?

        • Geesus it's mentioned many time it will become used when buyer pay your item.

    • +1

      correct.
one tips i read here was: first create a draft for you listing, then
      1. copy the draft 1 time.
      2. then list one of the draft to go live.

if unsold just ends the old one and repeat step 1 and 2 above

edit seem BG way above is easier

      • great idea. i didn't know you could duplicate a draft in this way.

    • +2

also my own experience: if the higher bidder/winner/(the stupid ones) dont want to pay and you cancel the transaction dont worry you still have that 1 offer.
only when they pay it will register as you have used the offer

    • does anyone know if one listing means you can have multiple quantities of the item and sell them all at 0 fvf

  • What fvf means?

    • final value fee or something like that you know what i mean
duh its there on the title

      • What ebay means?

  • +1

Does that mean that if I sell my iPhone 15 for $1450 they won’t take the 14% which is like $200?

    • +2

totally correct well there is small fee i think probably 30 cents but yeah dont worry you will be super happy and telling everyone how good is selling on ebay

    • +2

Sell in person for that level. Don't have to deal with refunds/returns cause a 3rd party will be the mediator.

      • What's the safest way to do payment etc in person for electronic items around that value?

Hear all sorts of horror stories with almost every form of payment except cash, but also don't feel great about dealing with that much cash - and as a buyer I'd be put off giving that much cash so I'm sure it would affect sale value.

        • If your that paranoid go through eBay or other marketplace platforms. Never had an issue with cash transactions be it items that are larger and can't run away with easily. I personally know cafe/restaurant owners who are willing to lock the door for a quick transaction if I feel its suspicions.

        • +2

I've sold many a phone via eBay, for peace of mind I always make sure it's shipped with tracking and insurance to avoid the buyer trying anything dodgy. I'm also a real jerk and cancel any bids of people with relatively new accounts/little to no feedback on their accounts.

        • Only sell using cash or PayID (bank transfer), certainly dont sell and use PayPal as payment method, even if the person comes over in person, theyll leave and then make a complaint to there credit card institution linked too their PayPal account and make a complaint someone else used there credit card, PayPal transactions out of a business like eBay or Gumtree portals is considered personal only for family and friends and usually small amounts too like at a restaurant unless your family and friends are into robing you lolz, they could technically 😉 😜

PayPal personal transactions PayPal will always favour the buyer not the seller

  • Is there any way to verify that the listing I've just made will qualify? I clicked 'sell similar' from a previous listing but just want to ensure I won't eventually be charged the full 14% fee.

    • +2

1 - Activate the promotion before using Sell Similar.
2 - Use sell similar to make a new listing.
3 - Got to Listings —> Check Start Date.

      • LAST RESORT,..

        1. Chat and confirm you listing is eligible with eBay help 👍😀
  • Deal is automatically applied if previously opted in. For my case at least. Slowly getting through my Amazon BF 70% items.

    • Are you also selling on Amazon? FBA or FBM?

  • +1

Has ebay legalised selling kidney on ebay yet. asking for a friend

    • +1

Is it going to be used or refurbished?

    • cheaper on aliexpress? what about warranty?

    • Request for refund compatible issue.

      • Buyer to check item description before buying and check compatibility. NO REFUNDS.

  • Unfortunately, this promotional offer is not available to you.

    Nice

    • [eBay Plus]

      • eBay Plus is only $4.99 per month,… ones way ahead especially when selling an expensive item 👍😀

    • I was getting the same from the banner on eBay homepage.

Click through the link in this deal, and it will apply.

  • Thanks OP. I stupidly forgot to claim the Boxing Day offer for 3 listings 😢

    • +1

      not sweet

    • you haven't missed much. the boxing day offer had a discount cap of $25. this is no discount cap.

  • +9

Ebay really is a license to print money for themselves these days isn't it.

Would be awesome for someone to come along and take them on - in the fashion Ebay was when it started - more private sellers than 90% just cheap chinese shit being resold by 500 accounts from 10 sellers for varying prices.

  • 50% off Postage Labels deals isn't available this month? Can't find it anywhere.

    • don't you get that option when printing the postage labels?

      • No, its showing the full price. Are you getting the 50% off price?

        • yes i got 50% off, last month. havent sold anything this month well this is 2nd day of jan

    • not applied on store seller this time.

    • working for me

3x 50% off postage labels for eBay Plus members until 31/01

      • Did you activate it or its working automatically?

        • Just works automatically like every month
Once you sell something you’ll see it

        • You can tell another way…
If you sold something last month, you can go into one of your previously sold items and click ‘Purchase another label.’ If you see the the message 50% off until 31/1 then you know the promo is applied

  • +1

Does anyone know if this offer would still apply if the listing has multiple quantities of the item available to purchase?

  • Getting "Unfortunately, this promotional offer is not available to you." even though I'm an Ebay+ member and it's appearing for me on the front ebay page banner.

    Anyone else getting this?

    • store seller ? then no offer

      • No, just a regular account.

    • I was getting the same from the banner on eBay homepage.

Click through the link in this deal, and it will apply.

  • Is there any restriction on the number of ebay accounts you can have, each utilizing one of these promos?

    • How would they know?

      • +1

They do verify customers to make payouts.

    • +1

I don't believe that there are any issues with having multiple accounts, provided you're not breaking T&Cs in another way

    • +1

I highly doubt their systems are set up to link multiple accounts with the same identities utilising promotions lol.

It's more so to stop people from making new accounts if old one is banned and to report to Uncle ATO.

    • +1

Have 8x eBay accounts and 4x of them I took the $9.99 anual eBay plus offer, eBay actually dont mind as they want eBay members to buy stuff on one account and sell on their other accounts which keeps the wheel turning for eBay

But one headache having numerous eBay accounts is linking ones only 1x bank account, once one hits 1x bank account linked with 3x eBay accounts (I'm sure limit was 3) then one needs to contact eBay to allow a 4th and so on eBay account, I have numerous bank accounts so avoided the headache on most accounts I have, I use the same PayPal account with all accounts for purchasing items with these accounts no problems at all, anyone has NAB as their bank very easy through their NAB mobile app to create multiple savings/debit card accounts etc well compared to CBA and ANZ banks I usr

Yupz certainly take any advantages available with any eBay promotions to reduce eBays high commission costs

      Enjoy 😉

      • Thanks for sharing. Presumably ebay allows multiple accounts? Before selling I think you have to send through identification hence they may deny if the ID is already linked to an existing account?

        • Never ever had any issues with using same identification for multiple accounts

If your worried at all with multiple accounts go on the help chat page from eBay apo or eBay webpage but request them too call you back and actually speak to them on the phone about it, honestly they want your business well more money in there pocket, anyway somewhere in T&C's states multiple accounts are welcomed and they state that eBay users need multiple accounts to buy with one account and sell with another account so buyers dont know your into buying and selling on eBay, well dont take my word about multiple accounts speak to eBay over the phone

Edit: they don't deny if same identification what will be denied for an extra eBay account or accounts is if your original eBay account has bad rating due too not following eBay rules or dishonest selling practices

Edit again,.. always always not just with eBay when it comes too these type of promotions always keep screen shots for records you might need in future too prove something like these promotional offers accrptance incase something terribly goes wrong, sht happens even the people on help chats get it wrong too

eBay sucks to sell these days. Think I worked out about 13% in fees.

Had a new camera lens that retails for over $580 and took 28 days to sell for $290

Be great if it was like you could list multiple and the first one that goes applies the $0 fees.

    • That is exactly how it works. First to sell is the one that gets the $0 fees.

      • -1

Ah ok. Could have worded it better then.

        • -1

To be clear, not talking about the OP but eBay. Terrible wording as it doesn't encourage multiple listings which makes business sense.

          • +1

            @Korban Dallas: Yeah I understood.

I think you have a secret admirer negging your comments lol.

  • I have been using this deal twice last 2 months to sell Hi-Fi equipment and will do it again this month for a amp. With such deals, eBay is a better platform to sell expensive items than other platforms. Plus if you are unsure of market price, the auction route is a good way to gauge.

    • Likewise I have sold a MBP for a fair price with no fees.

  • Contacted ebay chat about the Nov fee free promo. Terms state that sale needs to be in qualifying period. I listed in October and it was sold in November. I activated both Oct and Nov promos. But didn't apply.

Chat transferred me three times after they timed out because they couldn't answer me why I was eligible according to the terms. Last person credited me but then immediately ended the chat rather than provide clarification of the terms

    • If the item was renewed automatically (which happens to all listings after 30 days), then it wouldn't apply. Even if you activated another in the next month.

E.g, activated October offer on 6 October and relisted item. You activated November offer on 6 November too but didn't relist item as well. Item was sold on 12 November, after it was automatically renewed. You wouldn't qualify for fee free in this instance

  • The 3 listings between 35 and 31 December are null or will they continue to this month until sold?

  • has this expired? link didnt work for me

  • The Promotion entitles Eligible Sellers, who have activated this promotion in accordance with these terms, to 0% variable fees (which is a component of Final Value Fees as defined on eBay.com.au) on the sale of one Eligible Listing sold during the Promotion Period. “Eligible Listing” means an item listing that is:

    • newly listed on eBay.com.au during the Promotion Period (i.e. it cannot be a relisted item through ‘Good ‘til Cancelled (GTC) or auto-renewal);
    • listed in multi-quantity or single quantity fixed price or auction format only; and
    • not listed in one of the Excluded Categories (as defined below).

Just clarifying, does this mean we can list an item with multiple quantity and that each quantity is eligible or only the first one sold?

  • Would you risk selling $1500 item on eBay or strictly cash on pickup only?

My item hasn't managed to sell yet on FB marketplace/gumtree. Thinking of listing on eBay for the wider audience but I've been burnt by eBay before as well as a seller.

  • For casual sellers this is fine I only list one item per month high value or not. It might not get sold anyway so I don't see a problem

  • If I make a new listing, then end it straight away and re-list, will it count towards this offer?

    • +1

nope. only count if the buyer has paid you.
if buyer win but didnt pay, you cancel, offer still exist.
again, only when they HAVE paid you

  • Does anyone know if the item has to be sold before the end of the promotion period or it just has to be listed within it to be eligible? I read eBay's terms and conditions but I can't find the answer. Thanks.

    • +4

From my experience (as recently as yesterday) if you list an item during the promotion, you will still be eligible for that item after the promotion month ends, as long as the item isn't re-listed (which means you have 30 days to sell it)

For example, I used the promotion in December (26th) and listed an item, it didn't sell until 2 days ago (so in the 30 day window) and it still had the promotion applied (paid 30c fee), and I still have the listing for this month to use.

      Hope that helps.

      • +1

        Thankyou for clarifying

      • Thanks. So does that sale get counted against the previous months quota or the new months? For example an item listed on Jan 15th with the promo. Sold on 5th Feb. Does the the user get another free FVF for Feb (assuming there is a Feb free FVF promo) or the the item sold in Feb gets counted against the Feb free FVF?

        • +1

Counts under the month you listed the item (previous month).

Does the the user get another free FVF for Feb (assuming there is a Feb free FVF promo)

Correct, assuming you activate the Feb promo (different link).

  • +2

Any news on selling deals for February?

    • +4

Annoying this isn't automatically renewed at the beginning of every month.

      • +2

yes agreed, I really wish there was some better competition for ebay to force them to do better

        • +1

          Their fees are atrocious.

          • +1

@Lucius7372: Yep, 5% flat fee or I'll never sell an item on there.

            • +1

@Vita85: I think it was about 5% back in the early days, plus PayPal. I remember thinking it seemed perfectly fair enough at the time and still does.
Their current fees are pure greed due to no real competition.

              • -3

@King Tightarse: What do you mean no real competition?

Facebook marketplace, Amazon, etc. are growing bigger every day.

                • @eccaz: Facebook is face to face which is not much use in the country plus not everyone wants to do face to face and can private sellers sell on Amazon?
