only a $15-20 savings compared to normal according to cammel. Not sure if it is a crazy deal but if someone needs it now it might be a decent one! Im after one myself, holding off for when it goes a bit more cheaper.

      • Missed that part! Thanks might change my order 😅

  • Anyone running Home Assistant on this or similar resolutions?

    • No, but recently have had similar thoughts for using one of these as a kitchen bench kiosk with a pi or something behind it.

I saw some interesting ones on AliExpress that had mounts for a pi built into the back which would make it neater.

Would the pi be your device of choice?

I'm looking at using this with a mobile phone with a broken screen to use as a bit of a hub for google home/lifx etc. Hoping the touchscreen capabilities pass through.

        • let us know. I was thinking it'd make a great phone->tablet when at home converter.

i see one review mentioned plugging it into a minipc, which would also be hsny

At this price just get a tablet and Fully Kiosk Browser and you are set. No need to run multiple cables and you have the camera for presence detection.

          • @Shon: Sure, but tablets are usually 10” or so.

            This is double that size.

          • @Shon: Downside is that tablet batteries don't like being plugged in all the time, so ideally need a smart switch to cycle. Bit of a pain to do.

      • Yep HA running on a RaspPi

      • I saw some interesting ones on AliExpress that had mounts for a pi built into the back which would make it neater.

This one looks like it has two vesa 75mm mount points on the back so it would be easy enough to stick a pi on if you’re not going to see the back of it.

400nits is actually pretty respectable for a portable monitor

  • I purchased this monitor and the build quality is really, really bad - the screen cracked despite being protected by a laptop sleeve.

Didn't even get the chance to bring it outside on a trip - it cracked by itself whilst sitting inside a spare backpack!

So much for portability if it can't even survive storage.
