Skull Shaver Beast Clipper Pro $34.50 + $7.95 Delivery ($0 C&C/ $70 Order) @ Shaver Shop

510

My Beast clipper died on me after 4 years of use, and bought a replacement one from Shaver shop discounted for more than half of the price I paid last time.

It’s a good tool compared to the Wahl, Phillips and Remington ones I used in the past. I used it for trimming both hair and beard. There are many reviews online. Check them out before buying.

Okay, looking at the comments about other products, here’s my experience, though I don’t remember the model numbers.

  • Wahl: Had to bid farewell to my shaky and noisy Wahl bought from USA, even after using with a step-down transformer. Its bulky design and inconvenient cord also made it less travel-friendly.
  • Remington: The cutting power left me unimpressed; it ended up plucking beard hair 😰. Never went back to it.
  • Phillips: Opted for a vacuum model for mess-free grooming, but the suction wasn’t great. Despite it’s good performance, a broken clip for length adjustment deterred me from buying another due to the design flaw.

Good discount, but what died after 4 years? My corded Wahl is still going after 15+ years.

    • +4

Yeah, my Wahl is going hard still after 12 years…

Wish I oiled it more.. or at least once hahaha but even without, goes hard.

    • The one I brought after a year, wouldn't turn off. I had to leave it outside until it went flat.

    • I'm not the OP, but my Wahl Stainless Steel Li-ion has had:
      - Rubber button cover break and fall out after a year of use;
      - Power supply stop working after two years;
      - Plastic guides snap after a few years;
      - Battery struggles to maintain a charge after three years.

I bought some replacement button covers and a new power supply from a Wahl Spare Parts store, and I bought some guides from a local Shaver Shop.

The battery isn't really holding a charge so I stopped using it. I might desolder the 14(700?) sized Li-ion cell and put an 18650 in it. The case needs to be dremeled down a bit to fit a larger capacity cell.

Wahl updated the design slightly to use a proprietary connector instead of the regular DC barrel jack on mine. The replacement battery/charging/socket at the spare parts store doesn't seem compatible with the older version.

I've been using cheaper clippers from Amazon for about 3 years now. It came with two 18650 cells and has been going strong.

  • +3

Yeah, my ones going strong and its been closer to 20 years with the same blades

    • -2

The brand has only existed for 11 years

      • Whal has only existed for 11 years….ok

        • Is this a wahl deal?

          • @NoshTwin: I was replying to a comment left by Supercool referring to his whal clipper lasting 15+ years, and my one lasting closer to 20 years

      • Actually the brand has existed for over 105yrs.
A patent was taken out on an electromagnetic clipper in 1919.

  • Anyone used these for dog hair clipping would like to know if this would work as one. Thanks

    • +4

No they wouldn't. Fur would get stuck in the blades.

  • Can these be used on the head like the pitbull headshaver

    • To clean your egg?

I have an egg, this won't do the trick.

I've got corded Wahls that are at least 15 years old as well, can't rave about them enough. Just need to keep it clean and oiled. Best investment I ever made, can cut my own hair just using two mirrors (one on back of the bathroom door, one above the vanity, angle the door to get different views of the back of my own head). Takes me two mins to cut my own hair once a week :)

    • +1

I cut my own hair too (the skills you picked up during Covid lock down), but once a week?

  • +12

lol at this post becoming a Wahl wankfest over who has had clippers the longest

    • +2

Sounds like you need to go eat a beefsandwich and buy some wahl clippers

    • +2

Lithium Power in a beard trimmer?

      That's inSAANE!

      • A hipster in a microbrewery?

        Seems about right.

      • In 2024 I would expect NiCd or NiMh

    • -2

Lol Wahl blades (the US made ones) are excellent, not going to deny that. That being sig I switched to a Remington rapid cut (as I go close to a shaved head) 6 years ago.

For cutting your own hair, the Remington leaves all of the Wahls I’ve owned for dead. It’s still going strong after 6 years and it actually cuts faster and more evenly than the Wahl. If it brakes tomorrow I’d get another one before going near a wahl again

Same price on their Ebay store for those with Ebay plus with free delivery

    • +5

yep, about to say the same thing. Also used my $5 voucher, so $29.50 all up. Great deal

      • Thanks for this, rationalized at this price; it's a great backup option if my current trimmer fails at some point!

      • Gah. I'm here making jokes and I just pissed away $13 by not reading your comment first.

    • I bought this on eBay for $50 including delivery 2 years ago and it's still in the box

  • +3

Wahl is shaking all the time and is noisy. Plus being corded it limits your movements.
Phillips is the best IMO. Noiseless, no need to oil it, cordless, easy to clean, has one clip which you simply move up and down - don't need to keep changing the clips. And on sale costs something like 40 dollars.

    • +2

      Which model?

      • Whichever Phillips you choose is good. I have been using the basic models for years, but they also have more advanced ones which are waterproof I believe. Up to you, but even the most basic one is great and does a wonderful job.

The model I have is not being sold anymore. On average it is good for say 4-5 years.

        • Thanks, I always buy another one to have as backup in case the current one breaks down and working the next day.

    • I second this, had the Wahl Corded 'Balding' clipper for years and it was just heavy and unruly, and needed tuning often, switched to a compact Wahl Lithium Ion+ Beard/Head Trimmer 4-5 years back, still going strong, needs a bit of oil and that's all!
Much more ergonomic and convenient for fine details, moustache/beard etc.

  • Is this good to cut toddler hair?

    • +7

Just leave a pair of scissors out and they will do it themselves

      • Gold !

  • Why is there diagonal clipper guards? Are they used to make lines like people have in their lawn?

    • +2

      Over the ears fade

  • +1

Bought one. Will compliment the pitbull gold perfectly

  • They're probably all returns or refurbs with the other persons hair still in them.

(partially a joke but I loathe this shop, every time I get pre-used products, this happened on 3 separate shavers over the years, done with them. I'm not suggesting these go to landfill but frigging CLEAN THEM before resale?)

  • i had the remington, utter "crap", i currently have the philips, its ok but nothing special, not many accessories

  • Using a Kmart shaver for 3 years, does the trick.

  • been using this for 18 months now. great little unit and battery lasts for a while. some people may find the grip a bit awkward so needs extra care to not be dropped.

  • for more than half of the price I paid last time

More than half, or less than half?

  • Would get it but am turned off that 12mm is the longest comb, will pass.

  • Just picked up my click and collect and it is the 'Beast Clipper Pro Corded' model. I was under the impression that this was a cordless model given the USB cable in the listing contents. Have they given me the wrong one, or is the listing incorrect?

    • Bottom of page clearly shows Up to 90 minutes Cordless Operation. See the questions and answers too, someone else was given a corded one. Can't tell if they got it resolved

    • +1

I think ‘Corded’ means that it will work when battery is depleted and clipper is plugged in. Just tested mine and it works while plugged in (but charged). I vaguely remember my earlier one (USB version instead of Corded) might not have worked while the battery was depleted. I can’t see any documentation to validate this though.

      • Nah, this one is hardwired with a cord which is a shame. I took it back to the place yesterday and the girl said they had no stock of the USB ones and she also had no idea how to process returns either so she said to come back tomorrow when someone else is there who knows what they are doing. Bit annoying to have to keep going back and forth to the shopping centre for their error.

        • I picked up mine and they gave me corded, I questioned it on the spot and they gave me USB. They had a stack of corded ones in a sale display at $34.50 with a few USB ones mixed in…

    • I also received mine thats the "corded" version too on the box

I just opened mine and it is infact cordless and USB charged as per OP comment

      • Yep same here, opened and saw the 'Corded' box, looked at the comments here, opened up and it has a USB charger and cable. I wonder if that is why they are getting rid of them, no one is buying them because the box is wrong.

        • So weird.. marketing gone wrong!

    • My box delivered said the same, and it looked corded on the box, but an Amazon review said to check the box, so I did and it has a battery.

  • My old Remington rapid cut is slowly dying, and the smaller combs have lost their tips.

$29.50 on eBay (with + voucher) - however smallest size is 3mm. Dang!

    • That's longer than most isn't it?
      I was expecting 1 or 2mm.

I have both the Remington and this version. The Remington has better combs but the machine itself is pretty much the same. Had this for close to a year and no issues so far. I take this with me when I go away so it isn’t used often.

Combs are interchangeable with Remington (downside is that this one doesn’t come with the 2mm and 2.5mm combs). The 2mm comb on the Remington is the worst for breaking teeth on.

  • +3

Whew, I almost lost my $h!t when I saw the corded box, opened it up and its cordless.
    Thanks OP
