Isn't it 'new and returning' customers?

Offer for new and returning customers only and ends 27 Feb 2024.

    • updated!

  • +5

Is dodo still crap? My More telecom discount has expired.

    • Same here!

      • Do they notify you when discount is about to expire? Or do I need to find out when it’s about to expire?

        • +2

Thy won't notify you. You need to figure out.

          • @Jadeja: or ask the customer support

          • @Jadeja: Any luck getting them extend offer?
And do they charge pro rata when I churn? Or do they charge the full month regardless of when you churn?

            • +1

@bashar20: I stayed with them by applying another 12 month discount code. But had to pay for a month of 10% discounted amount instead of 30% as 12 months already over.

              • @Jadeja: How do u reapply?

                • @tinx: Email them the screenshot of the promo code on comm bank app and they will apply it from next billing cycle

    • +4

Try contacting customer retention team ans tell them about this bargain.
They will allow you to use another CBA yello discount coupon for a further 12 months.

    • Ex Dodo customer here (2016-2022), with multiple accounts in NSW city area, changed over to More (now), previously tpg and mate (but was adsl 2+)

I took up dodo because they are damn cheap. At the time, If you bundled electricity, gas and nbn, after all the discounts(pay on time, bundle, etc.) it was always $10-15/ mth cheaper than the next cheapest provider

I would recommend staying away if you need a service that is reliable, value customer service and notifications of when there is downtime. It was absolutely appalling. Even their website which lists when there are service interruptions is not accurate nor does it give you any chance to plan for any service interruptions

Take up Dodo if you love calling their support team and running power cycle tests on your modem and router.

The saving just isn't worth it. The time alone you will spend crouching over your router doing those tests while on the phone will cost you far more than the ~$150 saving

More and mate customer service and reliability are crazy good, what a massive difference!

    • Dodo is a terrible experience all around.

Unless Dodo gets speed boost options, dont think its worth it over SL or Exetel

    • what do you mean by speed boost? I've been with dodo NBN for about 9 years with a 100/20 connection and I regularly get a steady 13000 KB/s download using usenet. Is fast enough for me.

      • you get like 5 days of 250MBps speeds per month.

        • thanks for explaining.. I'm happy with my fairly consistent 13 MB/s download throught usenet.. if I had faster internet I'd need even more drives for storage.

Based on the Review, Price and Dodo's reputation, I cant honestly understand why someone would pick Dodo.

WhistleOut still list Tangerine as Internet Provider Of The Year, and the Tangerine plan is better value at $64.90/month (for first 6 months, then $84.90/month).
    https://www.whistleout.com.au/Broadband/National-Broadband-N…

We also know that the typical evening speeds of 100/20, 100/17 or 95/17 are only what the providers are willing to publish. My exetel 100/20 plan is consistently giving me around 107/18 and I couldnt be happier.

We are with TPG and during covid when NBN was giving extra CVC to the ISPs for free we would get 112mbps download but after that ended we get around 60-70mbps all day. It's way slower going back to this after like 2yrs at the good speed.

      https://www.itnews.com.au/news/nbn-co-gets-green-light-for-n…

I have heard that CVC is being scrapped for high bandwidth plans at some point soon so hopefully that will bring us back to 112mbps.

According to the linked article the CVC removal was supposed to happen for the 100mbps plans on the 1st of December last year, I wonder how long until TPG boosts our speed in response.

    • If you head over to Tangerine and start going through the sign up process, you can actually get their 100/20 (97/17) plan for $44 for six months including the FTTP upgrade. Unbeatable price I believe.

      • How do you get it down to $44, it's showing $64.90 for me?

      • Sorry but I dont see how it is $44

    • Darkly is spot on, see my comments regarding my experience with dodo guys

    This or More telecom?

Superloop all the way for me

    • Yeh reliable af and support is great.

    • +2

I'm just ending my 6 months with Superloop.

I had lots of dropouts, maybe once a fortnight, needing at least a power cycle of the NBN box to get it back. Every time, the NBN box had all LEDs lit, appearing to be connected but would not give an ip address to the router. Then you power cycle the NBN box and it comes back.

Never had this with any other provider.

I was with Superloop a couple of years ago and was very happy with their service, but they seem to have degraded since then.

      • Exact same experience for me. I will be moving away from SL.

  • what could possibly go wrong!

  • Still remember those days Dodo on ADSL+, followed by TPG. It happens when the business spends more money on ads than the service itself. Not easy for them to make a flip unless they are willing to throw $$.

  • does it stack with discount for having dodo energy and gas?

    • It does. Tempting. My take on nbn is that they're all wholesalers and equally terrible if you need them to solve anything. Would love to get someone's view on why dodo is worse than, for example, tangerine.

      • I've been with both Dodo and Tangerine and never again will I pay Dodo for anything.

        • Care to share why?

    • +1

yes. I'm paying $53.80 each month for 100/20 unlimited.

  • +1

do not use this company it is a scam and has been for years

    • Very convincing!

    • +1

please tell the ACCC where the company hurt you.

  • +4

Dodo are the literal worst, do not sign with them.

As a former customer, don't do it.

    • at least tell us the reason, i’ve been with dodo for 14 months now, apart a 3hr window of downtime i haven’t had any issues

      • +3

My personal experience: I signed up with them with ADSL (1, not 2) way back when as they offered unlimited plans. The connection was relatively solid for a few years until a rep called and said we needed to switch to ADSL2 and signed us up to a new 2yr contract, which we did and that's when we had constant drop outs, incredibly slow service, getting the run around from their support team for weeks on end. Had to get the TIO involved to get out of our contract as the service we were paying for was practically unusable for 2 months. It was then I discovered whirlpool to see it was a very common theme with a lot of their customers. Once I was able to break contract and sign with iiNet, none of the issues I experienced with Dodo (same hardware) occurred again, it was their shoddy network.

Friends of mine signed up with Dodo NBN about 4yrs ago despite my advice against it and experienced slow service, drop outs, constant buffering on their streaming services (meanwhile speed tests were reporting they were getting close to the speed tier they had paid for).

Maybe they've finally improved or you're an edge case.

      • agreed.. I've been with them for 9 years at the current address and with NBN 100/20, I regularly get a steady 13000 KB/s download using usenet and pay $53.80 because I get the dodo power and electricity discount as well. I can apparently upgrade to a faster NBN connection for more but this is fast enough for me.

    • +2

Pick any company and there will be 30 anonymous dudes telling you it's terrible and to never go with them.

  • You're better off going with a reputable provider at 50/20 than Dodo at 100/20, if price is the driver.
If only Vocus cared about their retail arm…

  • +2

https://youtu.be/mXzsLneGqLY?feature=shared Could’ve got a free mp3 player if you got this deal. Dodo, dodo, the internet that flies! At 9.90 per month connect yourself with dodo (minimum cost $1000+) Lol…

  • +1

Got offered $75 for 12 months from Exetel on 100/20 when I wanted to leave. Happy with it as i din't want the hassle of switching every 6 months..

    • +1

Had you of said no they would have offered you $70… ask me how i know, i didn't accept the offer for $70 for some stupid reason and now i'm looking for a new ISP

  • +1

    Any good offer for 100/40?

  • Is it possible for existing customers to get this deal?

    • yes, I did ( I was out of contract, so if you're still under contract you cannot).

  • I couldn't get this as existing customer

    • +1

are you still under contract? I managed to get it.

      • How i tried what did you say to them?

  • We just moved to Exetel from Dodo and I wish we never used them for internet and at one stage power.
They had offers for new customers but couldn’t do anything to keep me whenever I called to cancel a service.
The internet was the last to go. Despite being their customer for at least 6 years, they need me to post their modem back?!
I would think after so long, it would be ours to keep. They said I can keep it for $109.
We will probably keep it since we still use it and won’t need to buy a modem again.
It’s a bit shitty to sting us for that as well.

    So beware, they’re slimy operators…

    • +1

      for sure! buyer beware

  • Thinking of transferring to Pronto they use Superloop infrastructure. 100/20 $59.00 for first six months

    • interesting… never heard of that
