Only $320 for eBay plus members coupon PLUSOTCRF2Y8GL7M here https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/145467496320?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mk…

    • I've got eBay plus, but that code isn't accepted

      • +1

Update: seems to be an app issue. Won't accept other coupons either. Just the $20 off one. Works in browser.

  • It sounds like it will only get one major android (14) update , why motorola do this is anyones guess.
Such great credentials let down by sub par support !

    • +3

Which android 13 phones under $400 are expected to get both android 14 and 15?

      • Exactly. So if the latest OS is a requirement for you, then people will have to do the math…300 every 2 years or 400 every 3/4 years? (Depending how long the others provide) the main reason for needing the latest OS is for 3rd party apps and their security will warn you to upgrade and potentially not let u use the app if not on latest Android version even though Ur still getting security updates.

        • the Apps I use at minimum require Android 7, so getting a new android phone every few years is not something i'm doing. But the reason I upgrade is for the security updates.

I would get an Android 11 phone for example, if it was still getting security updates.

  • Is this worth the extra $100 spend over the G54?

    • G54 is still the pick

      • +2

I was looking at G84 after i got my G54….thinking i made the wrong choice….

        • -1

Depends how much u paid for the g54. The g84 not worth extra $100.

          • +4

@Jaduqimon: For your needs perhaps. Lesser water resistance, half the onboard storage, marginally less gaming performance GPU wise (though noting overall usage snappier on g54), subjectively worse IPS screen including much lower peak brightness 540nits vs 1300 on g84. Worse camera

For me the g54 wouldn't be worth it even $200 less, it simply does not meet my needs.

            • +1

@dreadpiratedan: I have the G54 as my staging phone until I get hands on my Xiaomi Redmi note 13 pro. The phone is actually really good value for money. It feels very snappy for what it is. Camera is a mediocre but again you get you paid for.

            • +1

@dreadpiratedan: Same for our situation. Replacing our $330 3.5yo year old Redmi would be pointless with G54, too similar. G84 even has some similar, but others kill it. So at least move up in benefits.
The Redmi would still be perfect, but we finally rooted & removed some bloatware. Battery ran flat 2 weeks later, and it never restarted again. Only offers factory wipe. Zero access to contents, and their recovery software is a useless nightmare. Never ever again.

              • @Ulysses31: I'd back up my content before root it. I understand why you want to root it from my Redmi Note 3, still working fine listening to books.

                • @Jamesx: Yep. Sounds so obvious, but I let my guard slip this once. And that's all it takes.
Photos, WhatsApp and maybe something else is auto backed-up to the cloud. I think it's usually the FOMO that hurts most, not knowing what's gone.

            • @dreadpiratedan: and 8GB vs 12GB RAM. I bought G84 from Jb hifi few weeks back. they had $100 GC offer, so costed 299$ (-15% GC i used to pay). Very happy with the phone.

        • Same, the screen is a let down on the G54.

    • +2

This phone way better. 30w charging..literally double the 54. OLED and under screen fingerprint reader (if that's your preference) 12gb RAM ….only down side is android 15 support when it comes out end of this year or next etc

  • +2

Dang, if I had known I could have waited for this one. I prefer two physical SIM slots in this one rather than the SIM + eSIM combo in G54. Both my providers do not provide eSIMs for the services I'm subscribed to.

    • +1

      Time to find new service!

      • -3

One Boost Mobile One Singtel. What's your problem?

        • +8

I don't have one, but sounds like you have multiple

    • Just the opposite for me, esim is so much more convenient than physical when traveling overseas.

      • Are eSims easy to swap between phones? Or do you still need to go into an Optus/Telstra store?

Sometimes when travelling between countries it's handy to have two overseas SIMs in your phone, which means swapping out the Aussie SIM to an old backup phone for a day.

        • As long as you have access to your account and can get a new bar code, it is easy.
I have changed my more mobile esim from iphone to the G54 without any hassle.

  • None of these codes work for me :]

    • +1

They are working but you need to be an eBay Plus member.

  • +1

Any case recommendations for this guy? Think I'll finally take the plunge and replace my cracked up phone.

    • +2

Pretty sure it comes with a basic TPU one

    • Similar. I'm after a good case and screen protector. Really like my Spigen for my V30+ but they don't have anything for the g84. :(

  • Any one get a price match anywhere?

    • +1

I just checked with JB Hi-Fi, and they mentioned that they won't price match the eBay listing.

      • Thanks for the reply.

  • Does this phone support share Wi-Fi connection by tethering?

    • Previous Moto phones do. I use the unlimited data Felix plan in an old Moto, USB tethered to a travel router. Works nicely.

  • i already have a good daily phone but I feel like buying this.
    convince me

    • -2

      Are you the Victorian Premier?

  • Very tempting!

  • Still Only $332.25 even without eBay plus.

  • This phone has good features, even a decent camera. Online reviews are generally very positive. One year of Android updates is unnecessary, but could be good for someone planning on a phone for 1-2 years.

    • +2

better to get Pixel 7 for $469.. hands down better phone, better camera and updates/support

      • +1

Except it is not available for $469 anymore

        • Ya ended up getting from Telstra fo $499 for Pixel 7 128GB.

          • @mazx: recently? it's been showing out of stock on their site or doesn't let you check out without adding an overpriced mobile plan

    • do you mean it is no good after 1-2 years?

  • +2

good deal, but not as good as JB's one with 100 GC

  • Cant see it showing Australian warranty? Anyone can confirm please?

  • This is such a good phone at this price point.

I got the one before Xmas with JB Hifi plus gift card for $399.

  • Thanks OP, bought with giftcards to bring it down to ~$310

  • +1

Is this better or the Edge 30 Fusion that was on clearance at $349?

    • +1

Edge 30 fusion as specs were better but it was slightly more expensive and its now expired

    • +1

G84 has more storage, RAM and battery life (a lot more). Edge 30 fusion is better is every other aspect.

So daily phone/chat/browsing ozbargain the G84 is probably better, if you want a super cheap gaming phone (although be ready to charge it every 5 minutes) the Fusion would have been better. The snapdragon 888+ is fast, I bought one for emulation.

  • +1

I've heard some reports the g54 and g84 overheat with normal usuage? Does anyone know if this is true?

  • +1

It is strange that the G54 does support esim, but not the G84.

I was just going to pull the trigger to change my G54 just for the screen and camera. But it does not support eSim which is a big no-no when traveling overseas. It is so much easier and quick to setup some good deal sim plan.

  • It's really starting to look like this or the Poco x6 5g….Anything to add guys?

  • +4

i rang the good guys and they gave me the G84 for $290 (it's on backorder though)

    • @Jakeh

how did you get this price?

      • +1

I just rang the good guys price match number. They said they won't match eBay, but he looked at the lowest he could offer me and sent me a link to pay $290

        • Can you please tell me which good guys or JB store did that price?

    • +2

I just rang the number and was also able to get for 290 + 8 delivery

      • Can you please tell me which good guys store did that price?

  • Code doesnt seem to work anymore?

  • Jeepers. Delivery was within 24hrs!
