[PC, iOS, Android] Avast SecureLine VPN 10-Device - 2-Year ARS479/~A$0.93, 3 Years ARS719/~A$1.39 @ Avast Argentina (No VPN Req)

850

Hello my cheapskate fellow Ozbargainers. I have a really nice cheap deal for you all. Before we start, obviously this is not the best VPN on the market but I think it's a good option for a TV VPN to travel to the 7 seas.

Now this is super easy to get, all you need to do it's follow the steps:

  1. Go to this link : https://www.avast.com/es-ar/secureline-vpn#pc
Make sure you are on PC, if you are on mobile, make sure you go on Desktop mode.

  2. Select your plan.
    2 Years (10 Devices) : 479 ARS (A$0.93)
    3 Years (10 Devices) : 719 ARS (A$1.39)

  3. Enter an email and your details. Where it asks for I.D or DNI if you still have the page in Spanish enter a number between 3000000 and 4000000 . E.G 3000011

  4. Important: I have tried several cards with no success. But worked with Paypal. So pay with Paypal. (That's why ARS/ AU$ it's a bit higher than normal MasterCard rate).

  5. Once you have paid, an email with your activation code will arrive at the email that you have entered.

  6. Cancel your subscription. After your subscription will be finished you will be billed the yearly rate whatever that would be.

It won't but it will make you more confident in it.

    • You can ask that privately behind the VPN

“ In January 2020, a joint investigation by Motherboard and PCMag found that the Avast Antivirus and AVG AntiVirus Free version were collecting user data, which was being resold to personalize advertising through a subsidiary, Jumpshot.[55][56][57] The leaked documents showed that Jumpshot offered to provide its customers with "Every search. Every click. On every site." from more than 100 million compromised devices”

With a history like that, why on earth would you want to use their VPN 🫠

      • "Don't worry, we don't record your activities
No one can see the apps you use, the websites you visit, or the content you interact with."

Since their product description says that, it must be safe.

    • +3

If the product is free, you are the product.

    • +1

It reminds me of the bad old days when many software programs you installed had adware built in or else tried installing 3rd party adware software. In addition to serving advertisements, who know what else they were doing or phoning home. Sophisticated firewalls were necessary to control what was blocked and what got through.

  • Gracias papi. The payment went through fine.

  • +4

i cant believe i went and shelled out for NORD with 98% CB like there isnt currently a cost of living crisis :(

  • +2

@Scrooge McDeal this would be worth being a separate post with their full suite of software (I think) including the antivirus and VPN for about $1.50 its called Avast
    ultimate
To see the Australian version so you can see what you get click here

    • +4

Yeah, not enough space on title unfortunately. But that option it's also available. I was just looking for a cheap VPN for my Google TV. For a $1.39 for three years I am happy. Now I am just waiting until they money deducted it's not pending so I can cancel my subscription, otherwise I will forget to cancel it after 3 years. I wouldn't want to get a surprise bill in 3 years.

      • Hey @Scrooge McDeal

How do u use this VPN on Google TV

I got sony x80k and cant figure out how to use my Keepsolid/Unlimited VPN from this deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/823094

Appreciate if you can provide some guidance here mate

        Cheers

        • I haven't used that one on my Google TV Chromecast, but this one from this deal. It's pretty simple, I downloaded the app and went to settings and entered activation code.
Then I can choose which country I would like to travel to.

    • Great thank you. That was easy to pay for the Avast Ultimate via Paypal. My Bitdefender ran out about a month ago. Might as well give Avast a go for USD$1.30

  • Isn't this just HMA but reskinned? Avast owns HMA so I'm assuming so.

    • +1

I have HMA and it looks exactly the same but much lower number of countries you can connect to on this vs HMA.

      • Yeah that makes sense

  • +3

if you're not using mullvad or ivpn, you're not using a real VPN.

    • +1

Totally ok with that because those cost real money, as opposed to signing up using fake details for NordVPN, CyberGhost, PIA, PureVPN, which are often available for 95-130% cashback. Just need it to migrate to countries like Pakistan, Turkey, Kenya, India, Lebanon after all

    • +1

I got ProtonVPN it's a zero log VPN also, especially if you use Switzerland exit point where they aren't legally required to even log IPs used for each connection. I got Proton during the black Friday deals and was I think $180 for 2 or 3 yrs.

  • Worked perfectly thanks op legend.

  • +1

At this point I have way too many VPN's as per the various ShopBack and Cashrewards offerings (most with a profit).
I have 2 PureVPN subscriptions (130% cashback), 2 NordVPN Subscriptions (98% cashback) and 1 Private Internet Access (PIA) VPN Subscription (120% cashback, if memory serves)

    • +1

Which one would you recommend for high speed linux iso downloads?

      • -2

windscribe, or mullvad only vpns you should ever use

        • Depending on your needs there are better VPNs, even for privacy these are worth a look:

          Proton best track record.

OVPN has money put aside for court cases to fight any request for data.

BulletVPN is based in Estonia, the country least likely to share your data.

Marshall Webbs VPN - he is an unhinged Snowden, hacked the pentagon as a kid.

Cheapest with no logs VPN.ht - $7.50 Aud or proton who have free servers.

Nordvpn and surf have warrant canary, not essential, but yours don't have one.

The best VPN depends on your situation, just because one is good for you, doesn't mean it's the best for someone else.

          • @Thisisananagram: Proton best track record??? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 have you done the slightest amount of research about the background company???

            • @Leho: I hate to burst your self inflated dunning kruger bubble, but only an gullible kid would believe mullvad wouldn't log if they were required by law 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣.

Besides Mullvad removing a major reason for why people use VPNs; "Linux ISO's", speaks volumes about their priorities.

By the way, as you don't know, when people say Linux ISO's, we don't mean ISO's.

      • For Linux ISO’s you want to consider a vpn that supports port forwarding. I don’t know which ones support it these days as it’s becoming less and less, mullvad removed support recently. I’m using PIA which still supports it.

    • +1

My ShopBack deal was never credited and I submitted a request and it still got denied. Really frustrating as it wasn’t cheap and I know I clicked through the link.

  • +1

    How to cancel? :)

    • +2

Create an Avast account with the same email you subscribed. I tried to cancel but not available yet (most probably because the transaction it's still pending, although I already have the activation code).
      How to cancel

      • Yep found it thanks
        https://subscriptions.avast.com

        • +1

My subscription status it shows as not available. Most probably because the transaction it's still pending. I will check back once the transaction has been cleared. Then it should be pretty easy to cancel following the steps https://support.avast.com/en-au/article/account-unsubscribe/…

          What's your subscription status?

          • @Scrooge McDeal: It's still unavailable to unsub to me. How long would it be to allow to cancel the subscription?

            • @4ustralian: I would think that as soon as the transaction it's not pending that we will be able to cancel. If not, we can contact support via email to cancel.

              • @Scrooge McDeal: My paypal transaction shown completed but am unable to unsub in my account.

                • @4ustralian: There is an option to contact support, by sending them an email with the order number and ask to cancel recurring subscription.
I don't know why it doesn't let us cancel. Someone here said that he had no issues cancelling.

                  • @Scrooge McDeal: I currently chat with the CS and told that

"If you want to unsubscribe, there will be an option to do that from the renewal reminder that you will receive 60 days before your subscription expires."

  • would it accept [email protected] for my email?

  • Prefer Mullvad.

    • What's the cheapest on Mullvad? I just needed a cheap VPN for Google Chromecast TV.

      • +3

no deals, 5 eur/mo always they dont do promos

windscribe is also very good and very cheap on bf

        • Yeah Windscribe it's pretty good, I used the Pro version for free for a month, but I wouldn't pay US$69 for a year. I use the free version.
I have never used Mullvad, now I know why 😄 too expensive for me.

  • Need a Mullvad deal like this

Is it good with Netflix and Prime?

    • Netflix seems to work as i can access US contents however doesnot work with prime video

      • Thanks for the reply mate. Have you tried other regions on Netflix are they working?. So this does not work with Prime then?

        • Just checked the US netflix and can play a show which is not available in Aus. Have not tried other location than USA but hopefully netflix will work.

  • Worked. Has anyone able to cancel subscirption yet ?

  • Gracias paid with PayPal and working fine.

  • +2

I love these deals that exploit regional pricing.

I remember several years ago the Australian government was waging a crusade against VPNs and encryption. They wanted to ban them or have backdoors built into the software so they could spy on you. The nanny state's argument was something like "Only criminals, terrorists and pirates use VPNs and encryption. Good citizen have nothing to hide." As far as I am aware, ISPs are still recording every IP you visit, keeping the data for 2 years, and handing it without resistance over to any government agency that requests it. It's like someone getting hold of your browser history file, but 2 full years of browser history. I don't consider myself a criminal, but there are some things in my internet use that could be used against me by a vindictive government.

How sh!t is the pay in Argentina for their prices to always be exponentially lower on these digital subs?

    • +1

They are taxed 100% for digital goods…. on top of a low wage. So vendors need to price lower if they want buyers

  • Where can i cancel the subscription? Tks

    • Got the replied above, tks.

  • They have Turkey vpn which is better than surfshark.
Their software is a lot better than nordvpn or purevpn which is super lag

    • I find Nord to be not laggy at all. it adds a couple of ms latency to my ping, and I lose maybe 5% of my peak speed.

  • Forget this provider. customer support is totally rubbish to cancel the renewal subscription.

Finally took 1 hour to their customer support to cancel the renewal subscription. Awaiting the confirmation email but.

    • They have a link in profile to cancel :) way easier to just click that and cancel

    • +2

Paypal option says subscription will not be auto-renewed and a mail will be sent for renewal.

      • Missed that, thanks heaps!!!

        • After being on chat with Customer service this is the email response (firefly2k3 it's right):

          Hello Scrooge mcdeal,

This is Aldrin and I'm with Avast.

I understand that you wish to make sure your Avast subscription will not be set to automatic renewal. Rest assured, I will do my best to help.

Based on our records, I can see that you have an Avast Secureline VPN that was recently purchased this January 17, 2027. This will definitely provide your device privacy and prevent hacker attacks.

Avast SecureLine VPN hides your IP address and keeps your online activity private and anonymous. It stops prying eyes and third parties from spying or tracking what you do online and can even prevent you from getting hacked on unsecured public Wi-Fi. You can also access your favorite content from around the world, no matter which country you’re in.

As I checked, the automatic renewal is not enabled on your Avast SecureLine VPN, making sure you will not get billed automatically in the future. If you run into any trouble, or have any questions, feel free to message me. I’d be happy to help.

I hope you enjoy the rest of your day.

          Best regards,

          • @Scrooge McDeal: I got the below email as well from AVAST:

            Hello Bappy

            Thank you for contacting AVAST,

My name is Ahmed, and I'm on the Avast Team.

Upon checking your account, You have made purchase through wired transfer, So you do not need to worry about the auto renewal option.

Once the subscription expires, You will be asked to purchase the product manually.

Please get back to us if you need any further clarification. We would be happy to help.

I hope you have a great day and stay safe online.

            Regards,

            • +1

@Bappy: Yeah, I would keep that email in a folder just in case you might need it in the future. Their Customer Support chat it's laughable. I was requesting a cancellation of automatic renewal in 3 years. And the response was:
Sure, we can help you with your request to cancel your subscription.
              😄
I wouldn't worry too much about it, since we have email for proof.

              • @Scrooge McDeal: Thanks for your tips.

Also, as we paid via PayPal (as suggested by you), I dont see any active automatic/recurring payment under my PayPal account for Avast.
So hopefully we won't get any surprises after 3 years

                • @Bappy: Yes, fingers crossed 🤞. If there is a renewal I think it will be easy to dispute it with PayPal. So I wouldn't worry about it.

  • Thanks mate worked a treat. Used paypal which does not automatically renew after 3 years.
