Don't forget $1,450 towards the Ultra if you sign up to the JB $99/24 month plan (before 6th Feb)

    • +7

And commit to $2376 over the 2 years

      • +1

Or cancel the plan straight away and pay the $800 cancellation fee

        • Can you do that with the JB plans?

          • @mandelbrot: Yes, in the critical information summary. "Voucher amount" or something like that. It's actually $766.67 cancellation fee after dividing by 24 months and multiplying by 23 months

            • @Wizballs: You're right. "Maximum Voucher Repayment Fee: $800"

            • @Wizballs: Isn't that $800 is Judy for the voucher?
Don't u need to pay the monthly $99 too?

              • +3

@asianbargain: Yes you get charged $99 for the first month. Then cancel. Not sure who Judy is tho.

                • @Wizballs: Then you get almost $1800 off for the ultra.

                  That quite good actually

                  Edit: bad math

                • @Wizballs: So if you get the S24U 512gb, could work out to be:
                  $2199 - 150 (gc) - 350 (bonus trade in) - trade in value - 1450 ($99 phone plan) + 99 + 767 (plan cancellation)
                  = $1115 - trade in value

                  • @mandelbrot: Under the notes it states the The $1100 JB Hi-Fi Gift Card will replace the value of the Voucher stated in the Critical Information Summary, so I would assume the $1450 deal will do the same thing.

                    • @Atlantus: Would be best to ask JB staff if this is actually the case. It has come up previously in a pixel deal - but by memory it didn't replace the voucher fee in that particular case even though it said the same thing.

                    • @Atlantus: The T&C's state: "The $1100 JB Hi-Fi Gift Card will replace the value of the Voucher stated in the Critical Information Summary. If you cancel or move to a lower cost/different plan then you must pay a Voucher Repayment Fee to Telstra pro-rated against the remaining months of your plan’s minimum term."

                      Referring to the CIS:
                      - "The Voucher" in this case is $1450 voucher
                      - "Voucher Replacement Fee" is $800 maximum.

                      • @mandelbrot: So cancelling isnt worth it anymore?

                        • @Voucherd: I think it is worth it, cos there's a free $600 odd in there

                          • @mandelbrot: hmmm…so is this correct then?

                            +200 JB card preorder bonus
                            +$350 value on trade in
                            +1400 Plan bonus
+/- trade in value(assume its neutral value as you could sell it online)
                            -$1100 cancelling fee
                            -$99 first month fee

= $949 off cost of phone?

                            • +1

                              @Voucherd: Plan cancellation fee is $99 + 767 = $866

                              • @mandelbrot: :O and we can get both jb card preoder and the increase value on trade in?

                                that means $1283

        • Do you literally cancel the plan on the same day of signing up or you wait about 28 days afterwards?

  • Could be the cheapest way to get S24U!

  • have they increased the gift card to $300?

    • Currently has $300 gift card for the S24ultra, and $200 for the S24+ and S24 base.

      Doubled since the post title?

      • Yup, trying to compete with Good Guys' offers.

        • But looks like JB's upped offer has an earlier end date compared to TGG

          • @kyle: They originally beat the gift card offer, now TGG have matched it.

            • @jasswolf: TGG slightly better with a longer offer date.

Any idea on how to make this work? I posted this in another thread:

So if i want to trade in with JB and get the $350 trade in bonus and the current $300 gift card offer (which expires on 22/1, compared to the previously advertised $150 expiring 6/2) and use them towards the new phone, it's nearly impossible to have the new phone first (release date 7/2) and do a data transfer from old phone, and meet the 20 day deadline to return the trade in.

              • @kyle: Google cloud sync and file backup won't cover it?

Personally I'd be doing TGG's $99 24-month contract for an 512GB S24+ and paying $97 upfront, then $800-$865.67 termination, and walk away with a $200 gift card.

Exynos 2400 is barely behind the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, so unless you're mad keen on a specific part of the camera array it's a way better outlay.

                • @jasswolf: I've got JB gift cards to get rid of that's why I'm leaning towards that offer.

                  • @kyle: In terms of related upcoming products, Galaxy Buds are due for some big updates over the next 2 years, there's the fitness tracking rings, and probably Samsung VR tech.

There's also smart glasses, new smartwatches, and significant ANC headphone updates in the offing. Hope that helps you figure out what to do with the gift cards!

                    • @jasswolf: But if i don't have to part with any cash in the current economic climate, I'd rather not to, hence planning to buy outright with existing gift cards.

                  • @kyle: The JB gift card offer is online only until 22/1. How would you be able to order it online AND get the $99/24m plan (which is in store only)?

                    • @mandelbrot: You can't do both. I wasn't going into the JB phone plan.

                • @jasswolf: Plus I'll also be phone-less if i send it in first

  • Can't get the gift card in conjunction with the $99/24m plan. Gift card is online only and expires 22/1. The plan is in store only, up to 6/2.

  • which s24 ultra deal is best so far?

  • Jb are currently doing 1100 gift cards to sign up for 99 dollars x24 months, does anyone know how long it takes to get the card?

Wife wants a few iPhone and work will pay the mobile bill anyhow.

Could she do this in the same transaction? (Or ten minutes later?)
