I bought this from the education store the other day for $818.. and it is still $818.
To my surprise, they dropped the price on their website from $1289 to $799.
Seems like a great price if you need a laptop with those specs.

13th get Intel CPU - I thought it was the 8th get one haha.

    Great price

yeah latest model I believe? I will edit the title

Good specs/price for a school or uni laptop that should last at least a few years.

I'm typically always Intel, however recently in laptops amd have been killing them. Especially these H series chips are pretty thirsty when it comes to power draw. I'd at the very least be sticking with the lower power chips, or ideally an amd U series for school/uni…unless you really needed the extra portable grunt.

      • any particular models around this price point or lower? I'm keen to get one as a present to a newphew

        • The ideapad slim 5 is in the lenovo back to school specials list. That has amd U series processor. I assume it's the same body as the slim 3i but I can't tell for sure. It does state a different silver colour.

You monster. Why would you not by them?

  • Any good deals for 2 in 1 large screen, useful for studying or reading?

Like a large 16 inch or 14 OLED?

    • IMO, 2in1’s aren’t great for reading. Maybe the occasional video in tent mode, or occasionally annotating some pages or pictures, but they feel too heavy and bulky for anything else. Imagine holding a large hardcover coffee table book in your lap, with a fan and annoying buttons on the back.

    Note**
If you customise it you can add the Fingerprint Reader & Keyboard Backlit for +$30.00

    • +2

Thanks. Adding a backlit keyboard is a no-brainer.

  • Seems like a good deal but

What’s with the 2 hour battery life?

My old Yoga had almost 10 hours from memory

    • Did you bother reading until you reached the full stop which indicates the sentence is complete?

“delivers 2 hours of use on a 15-minute charge

      • -1

True that’s what it said but nowhere on that page did I find any other mention of run time (or it’s well hidden). I noticed you didn’t mention it either.

        • +2

same, I couldn’t find mention of how long a full battery charge could last.

    Great price!
Unfortunately the kids won't touch a non-touch display laptop.

    • +1

      Just as well then.

    • +4

Sounds like the kids can buy their own then. ;)

    • +4

Just not fit for purpose. Absolutely shocking in this day and age. If i were you I'd return the child

  • I just got 1 of this with 12 gen version few days ago from Amazon. Everything okay but battery life is shocking bad! Full battery last less than 3 hours for only using Google meet. I am consider returning it if Lenovo can't fix the issue.

    • Most of the laptops can't survive 3 hours of Zoom or Google Meet. You are basically using Screen/Processor (especially if you use custom backgrounds)/ GPU /WiFi full time for these kind of sessions. It is not a fault of the the computer if it doesn't last 6 to 8 hours.

      • My MacBook Air can comfortably last 8 hours with all the above tasks, M1 MacBook Air can be had for a similar price on the used market

        • +1

Yes, but MacBook Air says it should last 18 hours. 8 hours is less than 1/2 of what is advertised as well. Will you tell Apple to "fix the issue" as it doesn't last 18 hours on Zoom calls.

          • +1

@bobokingdom: Hit a nerve did I? I get it you're not an apple fan but the M1 MacBook Air 3 years on still beats this machine handily on battery and power efficient power usage. I would prefer a Windows laptop as that's what I grew up with but there still isn't a windows equivalent I've found to be in the same league as the MacBook airs

        • +4

Used isn't the same as new.

      • It's advertised for 9.5 hours battery use life.

        • What is the exact model of your computer? Something looks like this: 83ER0025AU

    • Does under-volting (CPU/RAM) extend battery life (if you don't NEED max-performance)? I got one of those refurb Lenovo Yoga touch from a while back, battery tests were good, but runs very hot and doesn't last long, would this help at all?
Not same gen as these but seemed good place to ask re battery discussion, thanks.

      • +1

You can try to adjust the BIOS settings to Quiet or Fan Optimized mode (if the option is available)

  • Excellent deal. I've had several Lenovo's and been happy with them. When I bought one last year though, it arrived DOA. As did the replacement, and as did the second replacement. Lenovo were great though, very apologetic, acknowledged that the batch was obviously faulty, and immediately refunded my money.

Consumer grade Lenovo is meh.. doesn't last

  • Is this laptop available in Officeworks? I have some Officeworks giftcards that I would like to use. I cant seem to find an equivalent one but Im not too tech savvy

    • I tried to find it at any brick and mortar store so I could try price matching and getting it sooner but could only find ones with different specs.

  • My son has an i5 10th gen version of this. After about 18months he complained of it BSoD'ing every time he moved it.
I found it had flex like a rubber thong, the case screws were loose, the mainboard screws were loose, one fan screw fell out completely.
I tightened up every screw I could get a screwdriver on. The flex got much stiffer and the BSoD'ing stopped.
