  • Wait for Jetstar deal…

    • +40

jetstar will keep you waiting at the airport for your flight…

      • +6

I know it's a meme, but the few times I've been to Japan with Jetstar I have never had this issue and I've saved a lot of money by doing so.

      • +1

Flew Jetstar to Tokyo return no issues while my mate's Qantas flight home got delayed multiple times, cancelled, and finally rescheduled for about 18 hours after the original departure time. So YMMV but I'm a converted Jetstar flyer now, especially with their prices.

      • +1

funny you say this, I once got delayed by 2 days, had to put up with a few days unpaid leave, expensive last minute accommodation, back and forth to the airport to find out I wasn't going. I hardly had time to actually enjoy the extra 2 days!

      • +1

Actually my experience with Jetstar wasnt that bad, ontime departure/arrival.
Aslo I was quite happy with the sub $400 return fare to Japan.
Maybe I am just lucky tho…

      And for the plane too

      • +1

Flew Jetstar a year ago on the way back from JP,
We boarded the buses at the terminal to board and apparently the plane wasn't even there yet. Everyone had to get off the bus, return to the terminal and wait 2 hours.
Not sure who is to blame, but was a funny one.

        • +6

If it's up to jetstar they could blame the bus driver

  • Any deals for Easter on Business class??

FYI: ANA is suspending PER <-> NRT direct flights from April (except some dates) until around end Oct24. They plan to resume in Nov24.

op's deal highlights prices until late november, unlike the one you've linked, as far as i can tell

      • @lachlantula sorry for the question but I can only see until 30th of September in the hyperlinks? How do I see prices until late November?

First time looking at these posts properly since I'm looking to fly out in November!

        • sorry, i think you might be right. i was going off the mention of deals until 'nov 24' and i assumed the later links were omitted for the sake of keeping things brief. but yeah, i can't seem to find any similar prices when punching in november dates on the btf website. hmm. sorry again!

also, don't be afraid to wait a bit for a deal and don't jump on anything somewhat appealing too quickly - i made that mistake and paid quite a bit to fly with ana in may… now look at things..

          • +1

@lachlantula: Ahh okay, I thought I was just having a boy look!

And true that, it's so hard not to just jump on it since I'm scared that future deals won't be as good hahaha!

  • Is buying through beat that flight safe or directly through the airline? Beat that flight is cheaper than ANA by 150

    • These 3rd party websites often donโ€™t add on taxes until the checkout page to lure you in. This might be the reason?

  • Has anyone flown ANA economy? How does it compare to other nice airlines (SQ etc.)

Iโ€™m assuming it is great based on flying in pointy end of plane twice and those being my favourite flights traveled so far (using points, not able to anymore). I am open to having assumption changed by anecdote.

I flew ANA economy to Japan and then to NYC and back. The Sydney - Tokyo legs were newer planes and very comfortable. The longer leg were packed but still comfortable. Their plane configurations have a lot of business class and less economy so they were offering upgrades at discount at the gate but it also meant that it was very crowded in the back. Flight attendants and food was good though, would happily fly with them again.

I just flew with them on new years holidays. Cant fault them for any thing. Nice food. Bidet in the bathroom so very clean. On time as well.

      • How much was it to upgrade to business?

        • I was trying to remember to put in the original comment but I couldnt remember it. I remember thinking it would have been good value if they gave us two upgrades for the price of one but difficult to justify for just one. I think it was around $250-450 USD?

  • Can anyone comment on business class for these routes?

  • Any suggestions for 7 days itinerary for a family of 4 visitors (2 adults and 2 kids - age 10 & 8yrs) during May-June time.

    • +3

Thus website is a great resource www.japan-guide.com will give you example itineraries, tell you all about areas. I lived in Japan for 4 years. Now my recommendation for such a short trip is just to base yourself in Tokyo in the one place hotel/ air bnb etc. With the little ones you dont want to be packing up and checking in and out of hotels etc, you end up wasting so much time. Alternatively stay 4/2 nights Tokyo/Hakone. Things to do is just to much to list. PM me if you need more help, and once Again that website is an awesome resource

    • I'd read through the WikiVoyage pages for a good overview:

    • this sounds like us, looking to travel during September - October school holidays.

  • Looking for Dec/Jan 2025 flights - are these likely to go on sale and if so when would we expect them to open?

    • Airlines usually first release prices 10 months out (when they load their fares into the GDS) - this is generally what they do

Don't expect these prices for that period as it is high season

    • AFAIK, ANA opens their flights 330 days prior. From what I see on OzB sales start around 8-9 months before the flight date.

  • +1

ANA business prices are not correct.

    • been keeping an eye out for these prices for around September travel dates.

  • HI @beatthatflight

If I booked with au.gotogate.com. Do they charge in AU dollars or other USD? If it's not in AUD then most of the payment will incur a 3% international fee.

  • If they make you wait in cairns overnight, do they give you free overnight accommodation or do I need to pay for it?
