[Pre Order] $1400 off Samsung Galaxy S24 Series with Optus 24-Month $69 Plan (S24 $0 Upfront) @ Harvey Norman (in-Store Only)

720

Customers who sign up to a $69 24-month Optus plan (100GB data) at Harvey Norman, Domayne or Joyce Mayne will be eligible to purchase a Galaxy S24 series 256GB model with a $1,400 discount applied upfront to the cost of the device at point-of-sale. For S24 Plus and Ultra models you pay the difference over $1400.

Effective outright price of phones following deal:

  • S24 (256GB) - $0
  • S24 Plus (256GB) - $299
  • S24 Ultra (256GB) - $799

There is another bundle with S24 + Galaxy Watch 6 + Buds 2 at $0 outright on the $99 plan too, though you should probably consider the other deal with $1,600 off at Good Guys if you're willing to sign up to a $99 plan for the s22+ or Ultra.

Does NOT stack with the $100/$150 Harvey Norman voucher offer or storage upgrade.

Great for someone wanting to bundle on a cheaper plan than the $99 offered at Good Guys/JB or without a trade in, and is similar to this previously popular deal with the Pixel 8 pro

Note that sign up process involves a credit check.
Note S24 and S24+ use Exynos in Australia.

$828 cancellation fee if you cancel immediately though, for those considering.

    • What if the Optus network is unusable where you're at?

      • Then why would you sign up?

  • +9

eligible to purchase a Galaxy S24 series 256GB model with a $1,400 discount applied upfront to the cost of the device at point-of-sale.

So HN are selling the device directly to you?

Did they not learn their lesson last time they did this with Pixel 8 bundles?

    Anyway, plan cancellation is $828.

    • Can anyone confirm this please? E.g. do you need to return the phone or pay more cancellation than $828

      • The last deal was you got the phone then you could immediately cancel, keep the phone and had to pay half the remaining value of the contract of $828 + an amount for the first month. Some people managed to avoid that first month and stuff.

        • I think both Optus and Telstra prorate fees upon cancellation. You just need to pay 0/1 day of usage.

      • I mean… A tonne of us did this for the pixel 8 pro deal, myself included and it was just that, $828 + somethjng pro rata first month for the phone, cancelled as soon as I got the phone in my hands..

Was easy enough to do other than dealing with Harvey Norman in store, with varying experiences. Mine was horrendous and it took over 2 hours.

        • So would it be $828 + $799 for the S24 Ultra?

          • +1

@Trishool: You are better off just ordering from Samsung EDU or Government portal with $1 trade in method to get the extra $450 off works out cheaper.

            • @ThaiArse: $1 trade in method ?

              • @jt0505t: As in you just put a low trade in value for phone and dont actually send a phone in and just pay the late fee.

    • I'm sure "Ozbargain will see this… and their first thoughts will be cancelling" was considered at some point when they planned this after the last pixel deal

The CIS notes $828 cancellation fee fee from Optus.
There's plenty of comments in the other thread from last Pixel deal for people discussing cancelling, but I wont be so cant confirm this sorry.

    • Well they clearly didn't learn with the Pixel 7 so…

Harvey Norman and Optus, what deserving bed fellows.

    S24 Ultra (256GB) $799 + $828 = $1627.
I read from other post that someone can get it around $1100 to $1200 from education store. But that deal has expired.

    • Can still get it for about $1200 from education store

      • +1

That's great. Then it is much better than this deal.

        • +1

Agree, this deal is best suited for s24 and s24 plus, as the discount of $1400 is the same for all models (meaning a larger percent of total price for the cheaper models).
Theres better Ultra deals out there.

      • +2

How would we go about doing that if you dont mind me asking?

The galaxyai has expired so id imagine its only the tradein bonus and $100 off accessories

        • +1

From the top of my head: Samsung edu (20%) + app (5%) + trade-in bonus (250) + 200 voucher from chat + 150 accessories voucher (then cancel accessories).

I went through the steps yesterday as I thought about getting another one. Came to $1170, then add $30 trade in non return fee

          • +1

@mandelbrot: How do you cancel the accessories? It wasn't adding the total when I tried to

Edit - Nevermind, managed to do it via the app. Thanks for the heads up! Saves me selling the buds

            • @naedtrax: How'd you do this mate? If I remove the accessories it removed the discount?

            • @naedtrax: @naedtrax how did you manage it? I can only seen an option to cancel the whole order in the app, not just the accessories (and webstore)

              • @petal666: You click cancel order, and it will give you a break down of the entire order with the ability to cancel individual items.

          • @mandelbrot: Hey @mandelbrot

Is there a way to get edu account you know off?

Also what storage/colour did U end up getting for ultra for $1200

          • +1

@mandelbrot: How does the 200 voucher from chat work?

      • how?

      • I paid $1140 for an S24 Ultra with $350 "worth" of accessories via edu store. Includes a $200 trade in of an S20 Ultra though.
Hopefully it'll be here next week.

      • What else do you need to do to get it to that price? Are there secret 10% discounts on top?

      • How do you use the edu store without knowing someone with access to it?

    • No phones on edu

    • I think the non education store is better than $1627 when you trade-in. Just chat with Samsung agent and ask for a CME voucher. It takes an additional $200 off, but only applies if you're trading in.

  • Anyone know if the plan lets you add monthly international call pack and the $5 data roaming? Optus call centre cant confirm

    • Roaming to NZ cost $10 per day for 1Gb. This gift card plan cost more for supplementary services.

    • +2

On this plan from p8p deal, can see the $10 unlimited calll/text pack, but no special options for roaming data.

      • +1

Indeed, same here - can add unlimited international talk and text for $10 to 35 countries. No option to add roaming.

        • +1

Damn - lack of roaming ruins it for me. Ty for the answer

          • @camz0r: Ubigi/Travel Esim not an option? Was cheaper for me than any $5/day type deal for me on my last trip.

          • @camz0r: Just to clarify as I had a look at the app, roaming is available but not the $5 one you asked about - instead the options are 'Optus roaming pass' (enabled by default), 'Standard roaming rates' or 'Off' - the $10 roaming pass is 1GB data, unltd talk and SMS per day.

    Optus and Harvey Norman

    What a partnership !

    • For troll comments 🤣

  • +6

Only if it was S24 Ultra 0 upront, it would be a killer deal !

  • +1

I did this deal last year when it was $600 up front for the s23 ultra $828 when you cancel with optus. I am doing the same this year but its $800 up front $828 when you cancel or +$69 if you activated the optus sim, Sold my s23 ultra 512gb for $1400 so only a $228 upgrade. Great if you do the boost yearly plans or woolworths the 10% shopping discount basically a free phone plan.

    • I did it for the S23 last year too, but I just ported the number to a $2 Boost SIM so I wouldn't have to touch Optus "Service" to cancel

      • Yeah I think that's what I did as well or amaysim forgot which one had the $0 recharge/activation to cancel optus but they tried charging me the $69 ended up calling optus and complaining I believe legally they cannot charge you the $69 if you don't activate the service and port out straight away.

        • Might have changed since you did it last, but Harvey Norman activate the SIM card for you on the spot before they even give you the phone and they won't sell you the phone otherwise. It's a SIM-only plan with a bonus/subsidised phone. Makes no sense for them to sign you up and allow you NOT to activate it on the spot.

Is this where all the non-upgraded 256GB stock went?

  • How is the discount applied? Is it via voucher/Gift Card similar to JB & TGG or will it be a price reduction?

    • It shows on my receipt as a zero cost but YMMV.

Sales rep confirmed max $828 cancellation fee.

      • Hi Stewy, does it show on your invoice the original price for TRS (GST Refund) purposes?

        • All values on my invoice show as $0, with no GST shown.

  • Does NOT stack with the $100/$150 Harvey Norman voucher offer or storage upgrade.

Unless the pre-order bonus deal has expired or my store stuffed up, I signed up in my local store last weekend, got the storage upgrade and the $200 gift voucher.

    • Which store was this if you don't mind sharing? Happy for PM as well, thanks!

Edit: Nvm just saw you're from NSW. I'm in QLD so pointless to ask.

      • It was the Warrawong, NSW store.

  • -4

Very tempted..$69/month. Can claim GST on BAS and tax deduction

How much do you think I can get by selling brand new S24 on ebay or scumtree?

    • Tree fiddy

  • +1

    But… It's optus.

  • New customers only?

What does the $69 plan include.

    • I called my local HN and they confirmed new customers only, which is a shame.

    • ‘new’ customer means that if your number is currently on optus postpaid, you only qualify by adding a new service/port.

      $69 plan incl. 100GB, National call/text

  • Hey does anyone know how quickly I can get the Samsung s24 once I preorder? Are there stock delays currently?

    • I just went in today for the S24 Plus. All but yellow (which is what I wanted and what I'm now waiting for) is in stock. You can pick it up and take it home with you same day.

Best to give your local store a call to double check.

  • Another food for Gerry's dog deal?

  • This wouldnt be locked to the Optus network would it? I was thinking of buying the s24+ paying the $800 cancel fee on a new number.
Then slip my boost pre paid Sim in it?
this is the best deal I can find..

    • Phones (outside of cheap supermarket pre-paid bundle ones) haven't been locked for about a decade here in Australia.

Boost SIM works fine in these.

      • Ok thanks.

  • Unfortunately no storage upgrade…

  • What the hell is the point if it Exynos? Why wouldn't I just get a s23+ or s23 ultra.

    • +1

Dafuq you talking about? S24U has snapdragon

  • Word on the street is that they may close this deal early (like the Google pixel 8 pro).

  • What's the best trade-in deal? wanna trade in my s22

  • Can someone give me some good reasons for upgrading from S10 5G I am very happy with. I use my phone for browsing and usual apps, no gaming.

    • If you're happy with it, don't waste money and upgrade then.

      • -1

That's what I have being doing for last couple of years. The newer models haven't been much of an upgrade so I thought I might be missing something as other people are upgrading from S23 to S24.

  • We bought this deal $99 for 24 months paid extra $299 for the plus when it originally advertised. Picked s24+ up yesterday and asked about the free watch and buds. Salesman said you need to apply online with the serial number of the phone. Not able to see this anywhere.

    • +1

Salesperson is INCORRECT, the watch and buds are taken from our stock and zeroed out on the invoice. watch is Watch 6 GPS any size and any colour buds 2

  • +4

I went to cancel and they offered me the plan for 50% off for 12 months. After 12 months the cancellation fee is halved to $414 but she assured me I'd get the same deal in 12 months time (50% off) which would end up the same. So basically I've kept the sims because price to cancel is same as keeping the sims but here I have sims with 100GB of data on them per month. Agreed its a terrible plan for inclusions and add ons, like I don't know on what planet it makes sense for a $500 gift card but seems worth it for the $1400 discount on the phone. Posting in case this helps anyone knowing what is on offer.

  • Is this deal or any plan combo deal still available

  • Missed this deal, is there anything else similar or should I wait
