LG 75 Inch 4K Smart QNED TV 75QNED75SRA $1275 + Delivery ($0 to Selected Cities /NSW C&C/ in-Store) @ Appliance Central

Parents needed a new TV. Found this one for them. Decently priced for a 75". Most retailers list it for around $1700-$1999. Can't speak for quality or reliability as price was my main driver.

Refresh Rate: 60Hz, but what do you expect for the price, it's 75"

  • This or 75" c745 tcl for 1400ish ??
Both budget end tvs but people seem to like the tcl for the price.

for this price not worth it at all, it doesn't even have Dolby Digital Plus or Atmos, go for Kogan you can find better tv's for cheaper price

  • QNED is confusing. Websites suggest they are all mini LED, but that isn't the case.

QNED is LG's term for QLED. This TV is not mini LED doesn't even have full array local dimming for that matter, just a simple edge lit QLED (spec). Should be better than most budget LED TVs, and perhaps comparable to other popular budget QLEDs like TCL C745 (although I have not seen this in person next to a C745). But I'll probably go have a look tomorrow if possible, because I am looking for a reasonably priced bedroom TV.

      • wait for your comparison , I think C745 will be better in both fresh rate , and LED light (not edge LED )

I ended up going to three stores because the first two didn't have the two TVs close to each other or playing the same video. They were showing manufacturer's own 4K HDR demos. But luckily, the third store had both TVs on the same wall, although they were connected to a 1080p SDR source.

IMO, after comparing two different HDR sources, the TCL C745 had the better HDR picture. It was noticeably brighter with good contrast. However, when it came to SDR video, especially in dark scenes, the LG performed better. The TCL crushed the blacks excessively, and made it difficult to see details in some areas. The LG, on the other hand, had a more balanced picture. While TCL was still brighter, I wasn't a fan of the overly contrasted image where bright areas were perhaps slightly blown up, and dark areas were crushed. I suspect that local dimming was working against the TCL in that situation. Here is a quick snap I took : https://i.ibb.co/JFMZ5Ls/TVComp.jpg , the LG is the one at the bottom left for $1595 TCL is the top right for $1688 (both 65"). The photo may not be too clear, but I think you can still see subtle differences , look at the dark area of the lion cubs hind leg, and also the very tip of the tail, you can see more detail in LG. LG's picture also looked slightly sharper, possibly due to having a better upscaler.

Based on the limited time I spent looking at the two TVs with their out-of-the-box settings, I believe the TCL is better in HDR, while the LG performs better in SDR. However, tweaking the TCL's settings, such as turning down or completely turning off local dimming for SDR, may improve its picture.

    • You probs won't be able to get a MiniLED for this price given its new technology and all

      • I agree, but this LG webpage is very misleading:

The LG QNED TV boasts picture quality derived from mini LED technology.

That statement isn't right given that not all QNED models have Mini-LED.

  • Shows $1,890 for me
