I highly recommend installing OnionOS game launcher (Supports some DS Games with V4.2 update) and replacing the the MicroSD Card with a reputable brand such as SanDisk or Samsung.

These things are great. Pick up a decent 128GB Micro SD and install Onion OS and Tiny Best Set and you're good to go.

      fun but bad ergonmics

    • +1

Everyone kept banging on about Tiny Best Set. so I downloaded it for my RG35XX and found it was missing so much stuff. Ended up wiping it and using my own sets from no-intro and the like

Tell us more please. Getting a decent pre-sorted collection together is the most challenging part for me.

You seem lost. Ozbargain isn't the right place to be asking where to seek roms from.

I mean did you even try Googling what they said?

  • I have an RG35XX and an X55 already but these deals just keep tempting me

    • +1

They all more or less play the same games.

      • -1

I know, I also have a Raspberry Pi which plays them all too. Something in me just wants to collect these handhelds.

        • Something in me just wants to collect these handhelds.

Same here, I've been restraining myself from picking up all these retro console.

          Currently on my wanted listed:

          • Retroid Pocket 4 Pro
          • AYN Odin 2 Pro
          • Steam Deck OLED

Can't justify buying them and I rarely play my current game console…

          • @RichardL: Wouldn't the Ayn Odin 2 Pro make the Retroid 4 Pro like redundant? lol. essentially both Androids but the Ayn is almost exponentially more powerful (but at 2-3x the cost).

            • @bchliu: Comes down to price and portability (it's one or the other).

    • Having used an RG35XX and MM+, I mildly preferred the build quality (and aesthetics) of the Miyoo, but realistically the best one is whichever is cheapest. There is absolutely no reason to have both as they are way too similar.

  • Great price. Tempted to wait the ~3hrs as it seems the other colours (i want white) will also be on sale? Want to grab this and a RGB30.

    • I have an RGB30 and enjoy it a lot, although I barely have time to play it.

Supposedly the Miyoo's are built better which I could believe but they're all fun little devices for the cost.

    • Have been playing with the R36S and am debating an RGB30 for the bigger screen as these old (close to 60) eyes start to go a bit blurry after a while with the 3.5" as well as the built in bluetooth for headphones . If only someone would offer a good discount……

      • Consider the X55 for the larger screen as well. Its the same chipset as the RGB30, so will have the same (if not slightly better due to the 2GB of RAM) performance. Still on sale and can get it for $117 from powkiddy official store.

    • I am now tempted w the RGB30.. any disc? Cant find this on Ali..

      • Can't find the RGB30 on ali or can't find any discounts?

I got one during BF for $90, but it had issues, so I ended up getting a refund and waited for more sales. Ended up with a green one, but it cost me just over $100 all up. Nice device though

        • Sorry, no store w great disc

        • Cracked and purchased a blue Rgb30. X55 looked to big to me. Will load Arkos onto the RGB and put roms on seperate card that can be swapped between the RGB and the R36s IF I ever use the R36S again. šŸ˜œ

Selling points; the size, higher res screen, Built-in Bluetooth and WiFi and HDMI out.

Currently playing Retroarch on my Chromebook with an Xbox controller and I can't be bothered syncing progress between that and the R36s so I'll just plug the Rgb30 into o another port on my monitor, Bluetooth the controller so I've got a single incidence…..( Besides the roms on the Home-brewed Wiii šŸ˜‚)

          • @Limbot: @Limbot #metoo.. i bought rgb30 black w bag.. it was the cheapest option.. but i was tossing between yellow, red, blue.. so many options!

          • @Limbot: what sort of chromebook is it?

            • @chromium: Flex 5i i5-1135G7/8GB
              (also have a Flex 5 i3-10th gen/4GB and a C340 and a Duet 10.1 but who's counting… :p )

              • @Limbot: Ah ok, pretty beefy one then. Are you running the Android Retroarch?

                • @chromium: Yeah the Android app but I've also run on the Duet 10.1 (MT8183) for up to SNES games before as well.

If I'd stop stuffing around loading Retroarch on all my different devices and just play games I'd be much better off, hence the RGB30 :)

                  • @Limbot: Haha yeah, for me the game is installing and setting stuff up. I'm not a big fan of RetroArch other than on these devices

  • +2

After seeing how everyone was raving about the R36S, Powkiddies and Miyoos.. ended up splurging on the Anbernic RG405M. Lol.. Very surprised at how much it can emulate (quite a bit more than these) and loving it quite a bit.. but I suppose its all about price to performance and what you can do with a device that's 3-4x more expensive.

hmm i had this but sold.
not much tinkering factor, basically just download the pack and thats it.

i prefer n3ds or vita or v1 switch.
    anyone feel the same?

  • Just bought one on the sale price that just started 20mins ago. Total price $59.88 delivered. Bargain.
