iFixit Gamer Bundle $114.74 (Was $203.99) + Delivery @ iFixit Australia

1230

The perfect set of screw bits for almost any circumstance. Considering that the Manta driver set is $114.99 at iFixit Australia, you are essentially getting the iFixit FixMat and goodies for free.

Expect shipping to be around $15-$20 to major cities around Australia, although this may vary.

This deal was mentioned in the comments for the pro tech bundle, however seeing as that post is expired, I felt this deserved its own.

    Gaming screwdriver without RGB? pffft

  • +23

I really dont need it, but I do like everything iFixIt stands for. Very tempted

    • +16

      I think it's like 30% tools I need, 70% donation to a good cause.

Or at least that is how I will rationalise it

  • It should come with a J2C ring tone gingle

    Regarding the heat mat

; it is not heat-safe and should not be used as a soldering workspace.

Damn, they were like..99.9% of the way there, could have been 100% perfect

    • +1

to be fair they dont advertise it as a heat mat

      • Yes I know, but if you’re going to be tinkering with this kind of electronics I think it’s not too outlandish to assume soldering is probably within your repertoire of technical electronics repair..kinda woulda been nice to somehow integrate an option of protection idk

        • +5

You can get a solder-safe repair mat from Amazon for under $30, and then use the iFixit mat as a screw and part tracker because it's magnetic and also has grid lines for organisation, and you can also write down on it with an erasable marker. A mat that can withstand those high temperatures probably doesn't have these features

nice, had this on the wish list, and its a tax deduction so basically free right………..

    • +1

Assuming you're earning $180k+ and are registered for GST, it will cost you $55.28 after tax. Not quite free, but a good price. If not registered for GST and in the average tax bracket the cost would be $75.15 after tax

    • +1

      No, as a tax deduction it’s basically 0% - 45% off.
Likely around 20% - 30% off for most.

    • +2

      Sarcasm guys, come on :D

    • How can this be claimed as a tax deduction?

      • +1

If you work as a technician/tools of your trade

      • +2

you get it to repair your work phone / laptop

        • +1

Lol diy repairs on your work hardware… IT gonna love that

          • @blighst: They should have included an "iFixITguys" patch too.

Ordered one of these yesterday after seeing the Pro tech toolkit was sold out. Excellent choice of screwbits, but I was needing the phone-specific tools that aren't included in this kit.

I managed to solve that issue by also buying a replacement OLED screen I've been needing + the toolkit - so it comes with spudgers, suction handle, tweezers etc. that would come with the Pro tech toolkit anyway, so I think I'm good!

EDIT: Don't forget you can get $10 off by also signing up to the newsletter if you are a first-time buyer.

    • Hmm cant see any reference to the $10 off. I signed up for the newsletter too, to no avail

        you just have to wait…

        it took 20 mins… about 2 mins after I just went… fk it… and placed the order…

        :)

UPDATE: I cancelled my order and it still wont let me use it… I give up.

        • Do they send you a code? I got an email confirmation of signup but no discount

        • I (eventually) got a code but it's not valid in the order lol.

This coupon is valid for the US iFixit.com storefront only. Minimum order value of $80 required. It expires in 10 days.

          • +1

@MHLoppy: You might have signed up via the US iFixit website. Try again through the AU site. Code worked for me and others.

Thanks, the $10 thing worked for me.

  • How much does this kit weigh?

  • +3

Any alternative to the fixmat? I like it. But that's $$$ when I don't need the other bits.

    • If you search for FixMat on the site, it's actually listed for $65.

  • No afterpay, zip or paypal pay in 4 :/

    • +1

Old fashioned credit card (Zip anywhere would work too)

  • +1

The Manta Driver Kit is a good bit of kit.
My only frustration with it is the strength of the magnet in the 1/4" driver. I find it very weak compared to the 4mm driver and struggles to pick up screws.

  • +1

Isn't it a bit ironic that iFixit don't sell individual tools on their Australian shop?

Like you lose or break part of your toolkit and what do you do (assuming you can't claim it under warranty)?

Only option seems to be to pay high shipping costs to order the individual tool from the US site.

    • +1

They have some stuff on Amazon - I actually ordered a prying tool kit before realizing it was cheaper on Amazon with next day delivery.

      • Ahh - awesome. I had no idea.
