Google Nest Hub 2nd Gen + Google Nest Cam Battery $297 + Delivery ($0 to Metro/ OnePass/ C&C) @ Officeworks (Online Only)

130

Hi all, I've been on the lookout for Google nest hub and cam deals for awhile and this clearance deal from officeworks looks to be a decent price if you are in the market for both.

May not be the absolute cheapest if you bought each item individually at their all time lows, but won't be far off.

    OOS Nationwide…

    • For me in Sydney it's still showing stock available for delivery. I did check a few other postcodes but maybe it's changed now

Just so people are aware (as I wasn't aware when I bought this). You cannot view the camera feed on your Hub. You can only see the nest doorbell feed if you have one already. I did not and bought this thinking it would show up on the Hub when the camera detected people at my door.

Check your setting, I have a nest hub and can use it for all my google cameras, including my baby monitor which is from an entirely different brand.

      • This is not what I meant. I know I can view the feeds manually. I thought it would show up automatically when it detected something like what djgrazzy said below "It requires a doorbell press to automatically show on a hub (not just person detect) however you can manually view any doorbell or cam video live stream easily."
Complete failure on my part of research.

Using the new script editor you can also make the live feed of a camera show on a nest hub whenever any type of activity event is detected (AnimalCatDetection, AnimalDogDetection, AnimalOtherDetection, DoorbellPress, FaceFamiliarDetection, FaceUnfamiliarDetection, MotionDetection, MovingVehicleDetection, PersonDetection).

        • hi , can you share your script? im not sure how to get the action to show the footage on the display. Thanks

This is what I have to display the camera on my nest display whenever an animal is seen on the backyard camera.

All you need to do is change the starter type to whatever event detection you want as well as select your device name under the starters and actions devices. Also change the ok google command to show the appropriate camera.

If you're part of the public preview for google home app you can use the new "Help me Script" function that appears next to the script editor which uses generative AI to write scripted automations (which I used for the above).

    • Check what settings you have enabled, you should be able to see it.

I feel the most important thing yo know is without a subscription you are only able to access the last 3 hours of time, not recordings just the last three hours of time at all.

    Google eco systems stinks

The system is good.. the subscription method is the problem

      • I had the nest doorbell. Got one week, then two, then 3 with the battery saving settings. Possibly faulty but constant dropouts for checking or loading live or historical footage.

Changed to the TP link deal with the doorbell and camera and have not looked back. Superior product imo, significantly cheaper and no subscription via SD card.

        • I was looking for door bells and for the exact reasons, ended up getting an Eufy E340 dual cam doobell, no subscriptions at all.

  • Just from experience, compared to my Arlo 2, this is not a great camera. I have them both.

The battery life on the nest cam is pretty poor. Only last around 4-5 weeks per charge

I don’t know what settings you have, or how often it’s getting triggered, but mine lasts 2.5-3 months. Mines in my carport
