Dewalt Kit DCD805 Hammer Drill + 5Ah XR Battery + 4Ah Charger + 34-pc Impact Driver Bits $199 (RRP $329) in-Store @ Bunnings

430

I was in the market for a new brushless drill and while I was leaning heavily towards Ozito $99 hammer drill + the current deal on 2x 4ah batteries and charger $99, I stumbled upon this one kit. The value is excellent considering the retail price of all individual items add up to $550+

I bought this today from Bunnings, Virginia QLD and I could see in store that they physically had 3 more kits. Note those kits were not advertised on sale or as $199, so make sure to confirm pricing and availability with store first.

Link to Bunnings page is down now, but it was up on Sunday and I just bought the kit today.

I was also considering this deal https://bunnings.youinstock.com.au/search/0358689

Same drill, but smaller battery and case. I called most of the sites in QLD with 1 stock nearest to Brisbane and no luck, they couldn't find it. However, I did confirm with Tamworth and Fairfield Waters stores that they have stock, but couldn't send it to Brisbane. For $111, it is such a steal for the drill alone if you can get them.

Sydneytools also has this smaller battery kit for $169

  • What warranty do you get on this compared to the Ozito?

    • 3 years. I would say don't bother with Dewalt if you do the odd DIY project and home repairs.

Dewalt is geared towards professionals and usually in the same league as Milwaukee and Makita.

      • +7

I find that brushless Ryobi gear goes on sale less often so if you wait for deals, for not a lot more you can be in the dewalt ecosystem and enjoy the better gear even if you are DIY

        • +4

Dewalt US tools are exactly the same dude.

        • +4

You have no idea what you are talking about. Dewalt quality is on par with Milwaukee and Makita. Performance wise their main competitor is Milwaukee. There are some tools Dewalt does better, some Milwaukee does better.

        • +2

You have your opinion, I have mine. Not sure what makes my opinion non sensical. By the way, I am basing my comment on experience working in construction sites. All professional tradies I know used Dewalt, Makita, Milwaukee, blue Bosch, etc etc.

And yes these are the same tools as the US Dewalt which usually get great reviews.

      • Disagree here…

If you only have a single job to knock over, go the Ozito and onsell it on FB, you'll get half yr money back.

If you are planning on using a couple of times a year, and your budget can stretch, go the Dewalt.

    • +4

Chalk and cheese between this and Ozito. Dewalt when on special is far better buying.

    • For this price you're getting something that will way outlast and outperform a Nasty brand. You can take pride in your work and know the tool will power through. It also won't end up in landfill as fast as the quality is so much better so it's better for the environment. These days everything is becoming disposable or only lasts a few years max.

Superb deal if you can find it in stock

This is a no brainer, craps on Ryobi and Ozito from a great height.

  • +1

Worst thing is Wagga Wagga had six of the smaller kits for $100 each yesterday…. I’m heading there Thursday, they halved them to $50 today and they disappeared immediately!
You win some you loose some!

    • I already have this drill but at $50 I would have bought those up just for the powerstacks.

  • -2

what can this do that our fav ozito cannot. remember you can get 2-3 ozitos for this price so don't say longevity

    • +2

Longevity. Plus funkier color scheme. Plus funky sounding name. Automatic cred.

(But yeah, I only got the 14.4V drill and impact driver but been abused for 10 years and still good as day 1. Love em, would get dewalt on special any day).

      • +1

I also have a 10 year old 14.4v drill and impact. The impact was used daily for many years and left out in the rain, dropped from heights, and used for things it shouldn't have been countless times. I even trimmed where the battery slides in so that it will accept an 18v battery. Makes it stupidly fast, but I don't recommend,as it is probably bad for the tool. Anyway, still going strong, as is the drill.

I mainly use this drill and the dcf850 impact driver with the small powerstacks these days. Both amazing, especially the 850. I got them together with the 2 batteries for about the same I paid for the 14.4v kit a decade ago. Total steal.

It's a fair question. Unnecessary neg votes.

Much better torque, power and quality. A better chuck system, for example, can hold smaller drill bits. Not sure if this applies to the Ozito, but it does compared the the Ryobi

    • Street cred.

When you have a tradie at your house let them see your Dewalt and they won't screw with you

      • -1

exactly - its like buying designer brand clothes and getting bent over in terms of pricing for the same material with a logo on it.
        Didnt expect this from ozbargain

        • They aren't all that comparable, though. Along with the better build quality of the Dewalt, the Dewalt is faster, hammers at a higher BPM, has nearly twice the torque, is lighter and is much more compact.

    • +1

Nothing wrong with Ozito, especially with the no questions asked 5 year warranty at Bunnings.

This is a brushless kit, so not really comparable in price to getting 2-3 ozitos, which would be a brushed model @ $60 each. A brushless ozito hammer drill goes for $100. Current ozito battery + charger deal is $99.

Let's say take out $99 for the dewalt battery + charger, you have a dewalt brushless hammer drill + impact driver bits for a $100 vs ozito brushless hammer drill for the same $100. Not sure about you, but that looks like a great deal to me, even if we ignore the real/perceived higher quality from Dewalt.

This is a really nice drill. Lots of YouTube reviews saying how good it is.

Beware, in screwdriving mode, the torque is much stronger than other drills I've used. Keep it away from Ikea furniture.

    • +1

LoL, even a screw driver can over tighten IKEA furniture. I can't believe it's not timber.
Agreed, I like using DeWalt. I've gone through 2 in 20 yrs, now I want to go brushless for the weight benefit and power. Recently bought an impact driver and can't believe the power.

    • +2

you can change the torque setting by twisting the grip

      • +1

I've got this model and even on its lowest torque setting it's too much for some IKEA fasteners

        • Really? I got mine in the set with the impact driver. This has 3 settings, the lowest one is great for cheapo furniture. It winds quickly but the torque stops it, needing a small tweak to finish it off. I never used the drill for this kind of thing. Good to know

  • Not the best deal. Back to December last year, mitre10 had a Dewalt $199 deal which contains 2*4ah battery, case, BL hammer drill, charger.

  • great deal, but i am already in the Makita platform and it is amazing. both for work and play.

  • It's gone - link down and can't find product online or anywhere near.

    • I bought mine directly from store while the link was down. Go into the store checker link and call store's tool department and ask them to confirm price and availability

If there is a store you can drive to and with stock, you can ask them to hold it for you for pick up.

Cries in heavy investement in ryobi ecosystem

  • Checked with Coburg and they don't have any in stock even though youinstock shows 5

    • Every time there has been a Bunnings deal posted here that I've wanted, youinstock has said at least 5-10 available when there wasn't any.

    • Also checked in Coburg and got the same answer.

  • +2

I'm a tool guy - at this price get this over any Ozito or Ryobi drills. You won't regret it.

  • called up and they said there's none in sydney

  • I got the one with the smaller battery and case at Fairfield. There was three left. $105

  • Found one of the kits at my local Bunnings, have a question though.
It says that it includes a "34 piece Screwdriving Kit", however the picture on the box and the kit itself is only a 33 piece kit. :)
The missing piece is what Dewalt calls Magnetic Screw Lock Rapid Load.

    • Just to clarify the 34th piece is the magnetic sleeve holder that is already attached to one of the long phillips bit

  • I have 34 pieces. One of the phillips head bit is already attached to the magnetic screw lock piece 😀

    • Is there an empty slot in your box?

      • Yes 1 empty slot 😂😂😂 it bothers me as well.
