PNY GeForce RTX 4080 16GB XLR8 Gaming VERTO EPIC-X RGB Graphics Card $1549 Delivered + Surcharge @ Shopping Express

410

Not quite the all time low for a 4080 (was $1499 just before the Super launch), but this is a higher end model that is very well reviewed, with excellent noise and thermal performance.

1% surcharge for Card & PayPal payments.

    HODL…

    HODL!

  • +2

    I am gonna cave soon…..

Except this card is too big for my case… chonky card.

    332mm x 137mm x 71.1mm

    • +4

Hold on brother, don't do it!

    • +2

Look into Zotac 4080 black edition. It's a 306mm card 2.5 slots. It's quite the unicorn and no one knows about it for some reason (unlike the Asus pro art 4080 which is far more expensive)

      • They look nice ngl

      • Just an FYI for any other SFF owners like me who got their hopes up, they may call it a 2.5 slot but at 58.5mm thick the Zotac is more like a 2.9 slot

        • My FormD T1 can go up to 3.25

  • +5

    RRP $2,803.90

    Lol from their website.

    • I got a 3090 ROG Strix for like $1100 on eBay a while back and it's been fine, and has been pushed heavily nearly every day for months for work (and a few dozen hours of Palworld at max settings). No way I'd pay retail prices for a GPU in this day and age.

In that case it was being sold by a hardware store with a huge number of positive reviews which helped my confidence. But looking around for deals can get you a GPU which will likely be just as good.

    • seems funny, but so many ozbargainers were also quoting the inflated "official MSRPs" of the Super series past few weeks to justify "deals".

  • +5

Using HUB review as the basis…

    Cost per frame.

    4K 1440p 1080p
    4080 Super @ $1699 $19.98 $11.72 $9.28
    4080 @ $1549 $18.89 $10.96 $8.65

So paying a new tax on the Supers.

    • It's pretty normal for value to decrease the more you spend.

      • +2

generally true, but in this context, did you miss the entire point where the 4080 Super was supposed to be ~$200 USD cheaper than the 4080?

        • +2

They're comparing it to the launch price of the 4080, not the current price.

      • +1

Mother always told me 'The more you spend, the more you save'

        • +3

          Thanks Jensen….

    • +2

4080 Super gives 4080 a decent reason to reduce its price.

    • This metric names no sense to me. Cost per frame and then you've got resolutions? Is it the same frames which each measure?

  • Can you turn the lights off?

    • Yes. I have one and there's a little plug at the top of the card you can pull out and the RGBs turn off. There are 2 slightly larger ones on there too, but they are for the fans.

  • +3

Gotta say, after coming back into the PC world after a 6 year hiatus, trying to get my head around which video card to get has been exhausting.

    • What resolution do you want to play at? (If you even know the answer to this hahaha)

      • I currenty play at 1080p 144hz with a 1060.. but planning upgrapde to a 1440p monitor at 144hz+… so thinking of 4070ti or 4070 super?

        • Do you do anything else with the GPU other than game?

The Ti model have another NVEnc encoding block.

          • @jlogic: Not particularly intense - just a lot of youtube and gaming.

            • @winteroce: Have a look at this review under the average 12 games 1440p.

              https://www.techspot.com/review/2797-nvidia-geforce-rtx-4080…

From memory very similar specs. VRAM is the same so no issues there.

I think go with the cheapest. Personally would go the 4070 Super over the Ti considering the price.

I am about to flip a coin on a 4080 Super or a 4070 Ti Super… I need a card that fits my case. Don't upgrade often so coming from a 10 series like you. But I do video editing and dabble in some AI work.

            • @winteroce: AMD maybe in you sights if your not into ray tracing.

        • That sounds like a solid idea. They’re pretty similar for the most part so I’d just pick up whichever one goes on a good sale first

  • +7

What a bloody rip-off. It's a chip not a fukn couch. Wake up people

    • +2

A couch doesn't let me play games in 4K at max settings, wake up mate.

      • -3

I paid top tier $700 back in 2004 for a gpu that would push Half-Life 2 into the 45-60 fps region. Forgive me if I want you to be able to pay the same today. I may be dreaming but it's getting out of hand

        • +7

You could replace that with basically everything, i bought X for X amount back in X, today is F!

          • +2

@logisync: Not really. The games cost roughly the same now as they did back then, if not less when you math check inflation. I'm on your side

            • @ttacx: Think games cost the same because of economies of scale… alot more people play games than prior. Able to maintain profit margins due to more copies being sold. Also micro transactions are keeping profit margins.

Although this may change… every generation there is talk of an increase in game prices.

              • @jlogic: Completely agree with that logic, although game development was by way fewer coders and a lot less funding back then. I'm not saying I'm right, I just think we all deserve 4k 60+ fps for under 1k. My old man was ceo for the Endeavour Replica and when he sailed it around the world back in the early 2000's, they made 2 million profit. A couple of years ago my dad was pushing to do the same thing with the boat and the Sydeny maritime museam said that it would cost 13 million to do it.

                • +1

@ttacx: Unfortunately with AI going nuts and the 4090 using the same die as the RTX 6000 Ada Gen, nVidia will prioritise those cards over gaming cards.

Those go for a price of a small car $15k approx per card.

Tough being a PC gamer these days.

                  • +1

@jlogic: You are absolutely right. I just can't accept it. Choosing to study I.T just because a friend introduced me to counter strike 1.6 and then being totally engrossed within the gpu boom, sli and love for gaming through my 20's. Whats happened with non gaming related gpu $$ spikes just breaks my heart. Gpu's are for gamers and it's not good enough. We deserve better

              • @jlogic: Gta 6 is going to be $225.

                • @SirFaffer: And peeps will still buy it… $225 for a game with gameplay like GTA 5 is worth it. Many many years of entertainment.

        • +2

If thats all you want, you should be able to get a card cheap, no worries.

Don't buy into all this crap of needing to have something that does 300 frames a second at 8k res.

        • -1

Who tf will argue 2004 purchase 🤣🤣🤣

        • Times move on - and I can go back pre voodoo cards.

    • I would pay this for a GPU but not a couch, people value different things

      • I completely agree, although I believe you deserve a quality gpu for half a couch. I'll back you always buddy

  • oos

  • If zotac trinity black or inno3d ichill 4080 hit this or lower could someone ping me in case I miss the post.
I need a smaller size to fit in my itx. It seems only the larger cards go cheaper.

    • What case are you using?

Mine is the NZXT H1 V2.

I am seriously thinking about that Gigabyte 4080 Super as that is the right dimensions thickness wise and lengthwise it’s slightly longer than the compatibility guide says but using a ruler the internal space can fit a 330mm card, just most probably need to disassemble the case a bit.

The other card is the Asus Proart cards but those have the new tax and Asus tax.

      • Torrent nano. I can fit up to 335mm I just finger room lol

        • +1

Heh… I was looking at that case prior to my build last year.

Well I ended up with the Gigabyte 4080 Super… and yes I cannot install in without removing part of the frame and the top cover. After doing that I can install it and the top cover fits right over it with 1mm left to spare. A lot of tinkering around to get it to fit, but it does. Thermals so far are good ran Furmark and hotspot is 90degrees and GPU is at 67 - 70degrees that is after a five minute run. Playing normal games doesn't go over 60degrees.

Happy with the purchase, first thing I did was try RT and PT and was absolutely gobsmacked with the quality difference. Worth every dollar. I HODL enough already.

          • +1

@jlogic: I'd be moving up from a 3070 which is still a big improvement but harder to justify the upgrade
