More than 10 to post @ the main page.

  • +3

Average with the TV getting older and last deal at $2600

  • +5

Not a great deal. Got the x90L 85 for less than $2300 during Black Friday sales.

    • +1

TCL C845 has FALD (full array direct LED)-mini LED technology backlight which is slightly better that X90L that has FALD.

      • +2

        thats correct!

      • +6

Oh boy… if only you've checked the reviews… Every reputable TV reviewer and people in TV enthusiast forums have all said the X90L is better than the C845. It's not a spec's game.

        • -1

Looking correct is not the same as looking good. Reviewers will always go for what gives the best numbers.

It’s 80 dimming zones vs 900, even with its advantages the X90L is a blooming mess

          • +1

            @cille745: Seen both. X90L wins

          • +1

@cille745: They don't actually go for what give the best numbers… I don't know who you've been watching, but definitely not the biggest reviewers out there. Many have said and confirmed multiple times that the numbers and specs don't matter, X90L is performing better than competition and other mini-leds on the market.

      • Good luck watching sport or any fast moving scene on the TCL

        • +2

Yep, TCL and Hisense are terrible for motion handling.

      • This is not entirely correct, its all about implementation. In theory tcl should be better due to miniLED but it requires strong processor and the algorithims to match. Sony is known as the best when it comes to TV algorithms. I would choose Sony FALD x90L over the TCL c845 any day of the week. Oh also there were known issues with TCL in gaming mode not being able to handle backlight processing and the fast refresh speed making its potential advantage nullified

    • -1

This TCL is mini LED version and better than Sony x90L 85 :)

      • +3

Better hardware doesn't necessarily translate into a better viewing experience

        • -1

Exactly. These things are plagued with software problems and have terrible local dimming algorithms. It’s like when Hisense tried to dabble with OLED technology and miserably failed. I would choose a FALD Sony Bravia any day over a MiniLED TCL or Hisense for that matter.

          • @[Deactivated]: Terrible dimming, plagued with problems? https://cybershack.com.au/reviews/tcl-c845-a-superior-mini-led-with-the-lot-tv-review/…

            • -1

              @poxy001: LOL Cybershack.

              • @[Deactivated]: Show us a bad review?

                • -1

@poxy001: Reddit, AV Forums, Whirlpool, need I go on?

      • +3

People that have actually reviewed both have said that Sony does something special with their dimming algorithm and it's better than the C845, which the last time I checked had a washed out black bars when viewing movies, and also firmware issues. On top of that motion handling and upscaling is inferior for the TCL.

        • +3

Sony has always had the best video processing. I don't know how they do it, it's magic.

    • Ooooo nice, I got x95k 75" for $2600 delivered last year which I think is pretty good too. X90L is great value mid range, best quality you can get without spending extra for newer miniLED or premium of OLED. Also worth saying that the x90L with FALD is better than TCL c845 miniLED, dimming zone algorithims are hands down superior on Sony. They have always been the best for older tech pushing the boundaries of what it can do.

    • Can you share the receipt?😁

$2300 for an 85" X90L sounds perfect thanks.

  • -1

This deal better than other Sony deal this tv is bigger!

    • -1

Sorry? Deal better because bigger? Yep, got it 👍

      • +3

Girls always tell me not to worry and size doesn’t matter

        • +1

It's not the size of your tv that matters, it's how you use it

  • +5

I’m sure it’s a lovely TV, but I wouldn’t pay this much for a budget brand. Happy to have a cheap TCL in the bedroom but not much more.

    • +2

Agreed. Particularly when you don’t have or don’t want to use an external media player like Apple TV or Android TV and solely rely on the TV for all media consumption, like the majority of users I imagine. Not to mention Sony image processing is superior than other brands.

      • +2

I've been impressed with the TCL interface. It's snappy and the remote is good. I've a Shield connected but find myself often using TV OS and remote (for the basic things at least).

        • It’s good to know! The more the Chinese brands catching up to the premium brands and getting there the better for customers I guess.

          • +2

@GreenRomeo: Yeah I'm surprised by the negative comments on here. Other forums I read rated the C845s as good TVs. Maybe it's the price point. I did pay alot less for a 75".

    • +1

Budget brand? You mean the brand that manufactures most of Sony and Samsungs high end LCD’s?

      • +2

Allegedly. Use one for more than a few minutes, they’re buggy, slow and despite the fancy spec sheets massively under perform with anything other than a perfect 4K source.

      • +1

A tv is more than just a panel. It’s the processing chip and optimized OS as well. Think TCL just supplies the panel

        • -2

Exactly, even if true, that doesn’t mean a thing. Ferrari and Fiat probably also source the same brand tyres.

      • If he wants to piss his money away let him

      • Do you have evidence of this?

  • +1

Any deals on the 65"? They're reduced about $90 from JB Hifi, but was expecting better deals available at this time of year.

    • -1

      Reduced to $90? Where?

    • Yeah I just got it price matched last week (C845 65’’) on jbhifi. Just check the prices on BuySmarte or Appliance central , they’re a bit less than current discounted jbhifi prices

      • +1

What price did you get it down to? It was at ~$1450 in November, was hoping to see that price again.

    • Best bang4buck tv can be bought at most BIGW stores, its the QLED EKO 75" (LG-OS or Andriod) for about $800.00, my prefrense is andriod as it can side-load apps like SMARTUBE a add-free youtube tv app! My now 3 years old LED EKO has gotten lots of updates and its gone from strength to strength so can say its HIGHLY recommended for the money!

I wouldnt pay more than $1200 for a 85" and would go a quality 4k projector than a BIGGER HEAVIER TV (75" sucks to move and its not heavy, its just BIG)

  • Since we are in February, if you can hold. Better to wait for the new 2024 model. Should be two months minimum to wait for their arrival.

    • Interested to see what they do with the new processor

  • -4

Bad price for a bad tv

    • One of these is correct.

  • Need deals on 98”

    • Got one for $4,444 back in the day. I REGRET NOTHING!

      • Model?

        • Surely the c745 or a hisense

          • @TEER3X: C745 went for under $4k.. was thinking maybe the C845 was available for $4444 at some point..
Edit: I guess I could just search. Looks like it was C735

      • What day was that

  • +2
    • -3

Which is the complete opposite to what owners are saying about this TV.

      • +4

I have the 75. It really is a beautiful tv. I couldn't have gotten a better deal at the time, $1660 after cashback

  • +5

Seems to be a lot of negativity here for this TV. I bought this exact TV during BFCM deals and paired it with an Apple TV 4K and it’s great.

    • +2

Agreed lot of brand snobbery going on instead of actual value for $. When the Sony is $1k more expensive with only 1yr warranty the decision isnt even close.

      • +1

video processing and software matters a lot mate.

        • +1

Maybe to you. I turn off all the processing I can

          • @surg3on: that's enough for me. what will you do with best panel if it's not tuned well. what's the point.

            • @CrypticM: Calibration =/= processing

              • @surg3on: Fine tuning is part of processing.

                Best panel = / = best quality.

                • @CrypticM: Simple calibration is available on 99% of TVs and is all you need to get the best out of a good panel. if you are watching shitty compressed to hell content the rules change but then why ware you paying through the nose for your TV to watch 1080p netflix and youtube?

      • +1

You can buy a better Sony tv cheaper, plus the express warranty doesn’t really mean anything. You will have support for any issues for many years regardless of brand. The manufacturer can’t get around Consumer Laws.

  • +2

I don't understand why TVs are more expensive and inferior in the Australian market. BTW, why did the X90L defenders rush into the forum? C845 & X90L aren't in the same price range.

    • +1

Buyers remorse from those who paid $1k more a TV that compares very closely.

      • +2

Indeed. Referring to the same price range, the X85L is worse than the C845. Neither of them is the top TV of their brand. On the other hand, the advanced model of X90L - the X91L is not available in the Australian market.

  • I bought this TV from the Good Guys for $2400 recently (including delivery), pretty happy with it overall. Took about 1.5 months to be in stock again.
