I bet you are the type of person who only flies Jetstar

every time i book with Qantas they change the flight to Jetstar…

        • +1

You dont need to accept flight changes. Per the Qantas Conditions of Carriage - if your flight is changed you have the right to accept it, decline it and receive a full refund or you can call Qantas on 131211 and request to be put onto a Qantas service.

My scenario recently; Melbourne - Singapore on QF (QF37) cancelled - rebooked on the JQ7 a week before departure - called them to decline the request and be asked to be put onto an alternative QF service. Was routed via SYD on QF1 to SIN. The call took 15 minutes total.

Does anyone actually fly Jetstar or do they just cancel all their flights?

        • As has been mentioned plenty of times before - Jetstar actually have one of the lowest cancellation or delay percentages in Australia.

          • @Flying Ace: "For December, Bonza topped the chart with the highest cancellation rate at 19.4 per cent, followed by Virgin at 7.5 per cent, Jetstar at 5.5 per cent, Qantas at 3.7 per cent, and Rex at 0.6 per cent."

I suppose that could be considered one of the lowest.

The arrows in the title are misleading - should be 1-way arrows.

Given it is Qantas, they should just be dashes.

    • ↔ for City 1 to City 2 and City 2 to City 1 at the same price
→ for one way City 1 to City 2 only
      - (hyphen) for round trip

The OP I believe is saying by "Byron ↔ SYD $109" that it is $109 from Byron to Sydney and also one-way from Sydney to Byron.

      See flight title guidelines

      • I see what qwerty is saying, there is only Byron to Sydney not Sydney to Byron for the same price. Well that’s what I get when I run the search

      • Well that seems to be causing confusion, as looks like left and right, not or.
Would U+21AE be any better? double-arrow with stroke. Unfortunately, my browser renders it with stroke at end instead of the middle.

        Or "→/←" ?
        I'm a plain ole ascii man myself, ">/<" ;-)

        • Maybe ⇄ would make more sense?

          • @neil: no, same problem. Stick with what we have, and add "1-way" as done. people will get used to it.

  • Darn, I need Melbourne – Gold Coast and then Byron – Melbourne during the week.
Cheapest I see with checked in baggage is $145 for MEL>OOL on a Saturday and $192 (operated by Jetstar) from Byron>MEL on a weekday.

For travel from April to mid-September 2024

  • Good deal for a bundle of rights!

    • Virgin Australia has used this defense in the past regarding their administration and credits ect
