"Yet another fine example of just what the Langhorne Creek region can offer us. A vibrant opaque purple. The aroma moves through dry herbs, roast meats, dark chocolate, a lovely core of blackcurrants, with aniseed, bergamot and blackberries. There are fine tannins, but plenty of them. Impressive length. This will go eight to ten years, if one prefers to cellar rather than drink it now. No wrong answer – either works. 92." Ken Gargett, Wine Pilot.

Vintage: 2022 has been one of the best vintages experienced in Langhorne Creek. Mid-winter rainfall was above-average and a few riverside vineyards also received a small flood giving the soil a good soak. The mild season and moderate crop allowed a long ripening period to produce wines with good intensity and acid.

Vineyard: A single-vineyard, single-block Cabernet Sauvignon from Block A2 on the Angas River Vineyard in Langhorne Creek.

Harvested: 28 March 2022

Oak maturation: Eight months in two year old French oak.

Nose: The nose displays beautifully complex notes of plums, blackberries, and a hint of cassis.

Palate: The palate is smooth and well-rounded with plenty of blackberries and plums, complemented by well-integrated tannins.

Cellaring: Drink now to 2028

Jimmy Watson's of the past a number of times I think……. Enjoy! RD :-)

  • Ergh, I misread the free shipping coupon and paid shipping. Failed ozbargaining by me :(

No danger @cheezal, I've hopped in and fixed it. You should receieve an email confirming refund of shipping. Cheers! RD :-)

That's amazing - thank you RD! And it was completely my own fault.
Great service, can't wait to try it.

        • My pleasure. Always happy to fix something up.Enjoy it when it arrives, I don't mind a drop of this at home! Have a great weekend. RD :-)

  • Looks good, and who doesn't love free shipping. Grabbed a case.

Wouldn't dare put shipping in on an OzB deal hahahaha. Enjoy and thank you!! RD :-)

      • If you do, that would be the end of our drunk relationship.
I just received my mixed box from the previous deal. Looking froward to cracking this cab tonight.

        • Hahahaha - more than my life is worth. I fear I'd have to go into hiding ;-)

    • @BubbleIce As much as they taste good, blends are a bit on the nose retail wise. Equally, most of the straight Cabernet Sauvignon we produce are earmarked for US export, typically Costco, so short answer, sorry but no. :-)

        • +5

Commercially they just don't seel as well as staright varieties. GSM perhaps an exception.
In the Pertaringa range, we used to have a Cabernet Petit Verdot blend. Left the Petit Verdot in at less than 15% labelled it as a straight Cabernet Sauvignon and sales quadrupled! :-)

            • @[Deactivated]: @BubbleIce interesting. Cask a different demographic and not one I have a lot of knowledge or experience of. If they’re using Merlot it’ll be because it’s cheaper than Shiraz or Cabernet (or at least used to be prior to more recent times of over supply of grapes from Riverland/Riverina). Merlot also a good blender as it does tend to soften out the Cabernet. :-)

I think it's broadly understood that blends are for degenerates.

          • @dzhay: It is true that Grange is drunk exclusively by degenerates.

            • @Punkboy: Wealthy ones ;-)

      • shame the market is like that isn't it. would love to see more bordeaux style blends with some of the great old vines we have around the place but i think the most you will find is the sub 15% used for blending sometimes without labelling! :) (please tell me you have a shiraz with 10 - 14.5% mataro in it? :) )

E.g. a right bank BDX style blend in french oak with a touch of new oak with langhorne creek / limestone coast fruit… but it'd not sell in the amount you'd want for the effort but gosh it would be some lovely stuff that'd be so much better value than anything french

Anyway thanks for the constant deals mate! If i didn't already have far too much wine from the current glut i'd be right on this

It is a bit of a shame. I'm with you, love a good Bordeaux style blend.

We do have a Shiraz Tempranillo currently. It's a terrific wine. 2023 vintage and made in a joven style, so it is all about the fruit. RD :-)

  • Can we do delayed or scheduled shipping?

    • +1

Hi @Halc. Absolutely you can. Please just specifiy it at checkout. Cheers! RD :-)

      • Thanks, just put in an order

  • Grabbed a box! Cheers

    • Thanks @avinit86 - enjoy! :-)

  • Ordered a dozen, first time buying from the vineyard directly 😁. I am hoping for a good experience.

  • I grabbed the mixed box of master of wines and this cab is stunning. We wanted to try it before commuting to a box of these. Shame it's out of stock.

Would be keen to grab a box if you have any left.

    • Hi abs898 - all gone I'm afraid but the shiraz from the same vineyard and vintage is available now instead.
      Cheers! RD :-)
