I prefer Android over iOS personally, but I agree, diehard fans of either OS get really annoying.

        • +1

I think it's fair to say "its a good piece of tech at a decent price" but price and usability are ultimately just features like screen size at the end of the day and the significance of each varies from person to person.

  • I want nexus 7, but then the screen is just scratch resistant not like the nexus 10 or nexus 4 with corning gorilla glass 2 :o
and which one better wifi only or wifi+3G @.@ ahhh help!!!

  • +6

If anyone's recently bought from the Play Store, be sure to look into the Price Protection policy. Available at:
    https://support.google.com/googleplay/bin/answer.py?hl=en&an…

"Nexus 7 (16GB version only) purchases from Devices on Google Play are currently eligible for Price Protection if the purchase was made on or after October 14, 2012. If your purchase is eligible, we'll refund the difference in price within 14 days of your request."

  • Thanks for the bargain. I've been hanging out for the new Nexus 7 storage capacities to be released. Now if I could just decide which tablet to buy - 7 inch or 10 inch, 16GB or 32GB - it's a tough one!

  • +2

Once you add in the shipping cost, the Nexus 7 16GB from Google ($249+$19.99) is no longer the best deal. We had the Bing Lee deal months back. Some people also managed to price match/beat the Kogan deal from OfficeWorks.

No doubt that Google Nexus 4, Nexus 10 have very aggressive RRPs. Google is basically selling all their flagship products at the best possible prices (phones, 7 inch tablets, 10 inch tablets). It is fantastic for consumers… However, on this deal, not able to +ve it because our local retailers have provided bargain prices on Nexus 7 16GB before. We also don't know whether local retailers will again come up with aggressive pricing for Nexus 4, Nexus 10 (at least to offset some of the $19.99 shipping cost).

If you want Nexus 7 16GB, I suggest you wait. Retailers should be able to come up with even better prices. After all, $249+$19.99 is still more than what I paid for my N7 16GB 2 months ago.

  • Nexus 4 is tempting… it's a shame we won't be able to demo it in person, prior to buying, though. That's pretty much make or break, for me.

  • I thought the new one is coming out soon?

    • The new one of what? The Nexus 10 and 4 were just announced, how much newer do you want?

    • New one is coming out as indicated in the OP.

      3G versions of N7 (32GB).

  • +1

incredible pricing on Nexus 4… I feel a bit silly buying a Note 2 LTE for just on 800!!!

    • To make you feel a bit better. No LTE on Nexus 4. Also, no one saw this one coming (Google selling these at unbelievable prices). We tend to forget Google don't make hardware devices so they don't need to worry about recovering the R&D costs on hardware.

We now know why Apple released iPad 4 so soon (which probably upset most, if not all iPad 3 owners)… it is because of Nexus 10.

Also, the unbelievable Windows 8 Pro upgrade price from Microsoft for people who recently bought their PCs/Laptops.

  • +3

    So… this is Google's plan…

    • N4 to combat iPhone 5 until the next wave of new phones arrives (e.g. Galaxy S4)
    • N10 with a next gen CPU (the CPU that's one gen ahead of A6) to give iPad 4 some proper competition
    • N7 (with price drop) to fight iPad Mini (probably until the next Tegra CPU, Tegra 4 comes out)

Pretty good plan. So glad I did not buy an iPhone 5.

  • Hmm for those saying this should be in the forum. I can see their points.
    But.

      • +1

        I apologise =)

        • Doesn't matter, we're down…kick us anyway! ;)

        • +1

          It's too late to apologise.
          I said it's too late.

  • it says "available on 13 NOV"
will it be available in au local retailers on 13 NOV?? or we have to wait a couple of weeks till the local retails get stocks?

    btw… using micro sim?

    • -1

Nope, no expandable memory. Although it is just plain android, so someone will come up with an adapter or case with a memory slot… I hope…

      • …… ???
I mean the SIM card type, not microSD….

wondering whether it can be bought in local retailers on 13 NOV rather than online order..??

  • Trying to decide between nexus 7 and nexus 10.

Anyone got a raving opinion of the 7? Anyone know where I can test drive one in Sydney CBD?

    • Have a look in officworks/JB/possibly Harvey Norman, you should be able to find one.

  • No new feature, so disappointed. :-(

    • +2

      What? Are you no read?

  • I need some advice. Would you wait and purchase the 3G version and then a monthly SIM change applies or get the WiFi only and tether it to a Nexus 4 / other smartphone?

    • +2

I suspect it depends on your usage but I've always tethered wifi tablets in the past. Usually I don't autosync the tablets (as the phone will get emails and everything) and then when I use the tablet for tablet tasks it works fine. Remember the 3g version COULD be 50-100$ more… then you have the cost of a sim and its service. I'd rather get a beefier phone plan and let it carry them both.

Incidentally I try to use bluetooth tethering as it should theorhetically consume less power on both devices than two wifi radios…

  • Dammit my Galaxy Nexus is only 3 months new! Damn you Google + LG!!! :P

    • Im sure that's what the Ipad 3 users are thinking right now too ;o)

    • +1

haha I have an 5 month old S3, and considering to either get this, the Xperia Z or the S4

      • -1

No point getting the N4 when you have an S3 as they're very similiar, and in some aspects, a downgrade. I would wait for the Z or S4.

  • Can someone please tell me the difference (other than price) between the I9250, I9020 and I9023? They all run android 4.0 as far as I can tell. Price and model number vary, but specs "seem" to be the same. Or maybe Im not looking properly?

    • +1

The i9020 and i9023 were two versions of the Nexus S, aimed at different markets. The main difference was that the i9020 had an AMOLED screen, while the i9023 had a Super LCD screen.

The i9250 is the Galaxy Nexus (the successor to the Nexus S).

      • So none of the above mentioned models are the Nexus 4 than? False advertizing on ebay. I was wondering how these people got their hands on them when the Nexus 4 hasn't been released yet :o\

  • So, the Nexus 4 looks like a great phone. Christmas is coming. Does anyone think the price might drop a bit after Christmas? My partner is keen to get one, but I'm just wondering if he should get one as soon as they get released or if he should wait til the new year….
A shame they wont have any end of financial year sales like they have in Australia. I believe in the US the financial year ends in January?

    • Black Friday?

      • Doh! I should've known that lol! Well, it's on the 23rd of this month, so who knows? Might find a better price still :o)

    • +1

These are selling at nearly cost price, it's very unlikely they'll drop much in price.

      • Perhaps. He's not in an overly big rush to get one, so he'll be waiting until Christmas anyway. He told me he preferred to buy it in a brick and mortar shop rather than online via the play store.
So it might be a week or 2 before they hit the shops after being released on he 13th?

  • I caved and went for the Nexus 7 16g. I was able to squeeze the good guys for 4$ so got it at $245!

  • Wow… looking at Nexus 4 & 10, Apple products looks like an old and boring products… I think my next phone won't be an iPhone this time…

  • +1

Paid US$199 for Nex7 at Walmart when was in US last week. That's MSRP, so it really annoys me that Australians shafted yet again on pricing considering the AU dollar is US1.04 today.

FWIW, 16GB is plenty on a tablet for my money. You probably don't need access to your entire movie collection at all times. Anyway, USB OTG is supported via a paid app or rooted device (which does not void warranty) so you can at least carry a larger amount of data around with it if you have to.

Also, this is NOT a "bargain", it's MSRP/RRP, and so it's just an advert, the tablet is $239 at Kogan!

    • What MSRP? Most Standard Retail Price?

Rooting doesn't void the warranty? I thought it does because the hardware manufacturers argue that if there is some kind of problem with the phone/tablet, it could have been triggered by rooting. So even if it's a hardware fault, the fact that it's rooted may void it.

Would you happen to know what the price of the Nexus 10 is over there (US)?

      • Manufac. Suggested Retail Price, same as RRP

  • Does anyone no what time today we can buy the nexus 4?

    • 16GB model is sold out now, the 8GB is still available.

      • Where?

        • It just says "notify me"???? and "coming soon"

        • Make sure you click on the 8GB model, it says "In Stock"

        • ozhunter, where does it say "it stock" please?

        • I don't know why it isn't showing for you.

        • That must be it. It's AU$349 for the 8GB version.

        • How to I get to the Aus Play Store?

        • Aghhh…. proxymate was on!

        • Thanks for your help anyway ozhunter.

Did anyone here get the Nexus 4 16GB?

        • yep, snagged one :-) 16gb sold out in around an hour and a half.

        • From what time?

        • it started around 11am QLD time or shortly after. I didn't get back to my PC until around quarter to 12 and a couple of the guys here had already placed their orders.

        • 11am? Wow crazy.

  • Dammit!!! needed the 16GB!!

  • Hey does anyone know if it going to work in Australia? The Nexus 4 that is.

  • Ebay
Soft Gel Skin S-Line Wave TPU Case Cover for LG Nexus 4 E960 Free Shipping

  • Are any aussie brick and mortar stores selling this today?

  • how much is the shipping guys?

  • I went to JB HiFi today and they have the 32GB WiFi version (not sure about 3G) out the back and ready to sell. They have to wait for the quarantine period during their stocktake to finish and then it will be on ale for $319. Should be early next week.

    • then it will be on ale for $319.

      hope it's liquid-proof.

Looks like both 8GB and 16GB versions of Nexus 4 sold out within hours.

    http://www.gizmodo.com.au/2012/11/google-nexus-4-sells-out-i…

  • Why not 4g release?

    • -1

How much are you willing to pay for lte version? Bet Google doesn't want to eat away shares of other android partners flagship phones too much.

  • Random question someone here might be able to help with. I picked up a nexus 7 from the good guys and I found it doesn't have an English(AU) setting. This is a pain with a US keyboard, British spelling and the metric system.

Anyone know if it's just me or if a work around? All other androids have had AU. I'd rather not root if I can avoid it.

  • Kinda frustrating that this is so highly anticipated and there is yet another supply issue.

  • +1

How is RRP a bargain? Especially when it's considerably higher than the US price and higher than Kogan???

    Stop voting RRP as bargains!

    • find a cheaper price on same product,or find something at the same price but better product, then we will talk.

oh let me remind you, US price subject to various tax according to the state you purchase in. Also, if Kogan ever ship a product at loss.

    • +1

I agree with this guy, not a bargain at rrp. Yeah we are all keen to look at the prices etc but its rrp…..this is ozb

    • agree

    • +1.

    • +1

Agree, not a bargain at all.

  • Is this any good for the 3g DWI 369$ various shipping http://www.dwidigitalcameras.com.au/astore/ASUS-Google-Nexus-7-32GB-3G-UNLOCKED-Tablet-PCs.aspx

  • Everything's back up to buy

    • The Nexus 10 still isn't. Just as well I decided to get mine from Mobicity (at a higher price).

  • Although it is RRP, I am so tempted with n4 and n10, already owned n7 and very happy about it

  • Hmmm… I don't understand why it's $50 to go from 16GB to 32GB on an N7 but $100 to do so on an N10.

An N10 at around the $500 price point would have been great.

  • -1

The 16 GB Nexus 4 is now out of stock. The 8GB is still there.

    • No its not..

      • Try buying it. You'll get an error on the 16 GB.

  • -1

    Ozbargained! =(

    • N10 still out of stock

  • Both the 8GB and the 16 GB Nexus 4 are still in stock

  • And it looks like it's over for the nexus 4

    • Both still showing available for me?

  • 8g or 16 for N4?
