  • They'll probably need it considering the amount of problems I've read with them. Apparently the cable is really expensive too.

    Got excited, then remembered I have an LG OLED, no freebie for me

    • I got a free remote from LG for the C1 OLED. Had to chat online and provide serial number and few photos of the remote with print fading - after arguing it is fading before reasonable life, they agreed to send me one by courier for free.

      They did try to sell me one, but I had to tell them I'd escalate the issue through other channels.

      • How old was your remote, out of interest?

        • When I requested for replacement the remote was 13 months old! The print was gone in 10 months. Terrible quality, had to press really hard for some buttons to work, especially the volume and channel up/down buttons.

          We received new remote about a year ago, haven't taken it off the box yet. After receiving the new remote we opened up the old one and gave it a good cleanup, working slightly better now.

        My CX is faded terribly, yet I have a Sony CRT remote that looks almost as good as it did 20 years ago.
        They don't make things like they used to!

  • My tv is out of warranty (1 year express Samsung care) October 22 but they are replacing the remote anyway for free.

    Try your luck.

    • Similar experience here, just talked to the support and they are happy to send me a replacement.

    1. Each Customer who makes a valid claim is eligible to claim a total of TWO per item.
    • They didn’t want to send out two of each item and wanted me to process a second claim after receiving the first set. Quite a time sink.

      • Says premium care isn't available for purchases made from 1st Jan 2024. And this free remote control is a Premium care offer. So i'm thinking the claim will get denied when they go to process it even although you submitted it.

        "Samsung Care Premium will not be available on purchases from 1st of January 2024.
        Purchases made on or before 31st of December 2023 are still eligible for Samsung Care Premium offerings."

    Bought my TV in 2020 and the guy on chat just processed a remote for me to be sent out. Asked me a few questions as it was outside the warranty period and then processed it and said it was faulty.

    • What did you tell him as the reason?

      • Told him my remote would intermittently stop working and I would have to uninstall and reinstall the batteries for it to work. I also. Told him that the batteries would. Run out after a month or two.

  • Tried to claim but they don't seem to know this offer. Can't seem to process cable? Remote seems okay but they just request submit a request to spare parts.

  • Just got through… Took a solid hour with live chat to get it sorted. They said my details have been forwarded to the Spare Parts department and expected to receive it 7-10days for metro area.

  • I probably need this as the kids fight over the remote. But the remote we have is pretty tough and survived so far after the beatings its taken. Pretty sure i read about this when we first got our Frame tv. Never bothered to request though.

    Our frame TV was purchased back in Dec 2019.

    This is the most bizarre freebie I've seen for a while.

    Samsung are offering those who have bought one of their TVs in the past year a free remote or connection cable but ignoring those who bought one of their expensive top tier TVs longer than a year ago and actually might need one?

    And by the way. Those connection cables are delicate and not cheap to replace - the 5m version selling for close to $250.

    And I love the way Samsung uses the term 'express warranty' which they limit to just one year after purchase. Thankfully Australia has tough consumer laws which calls out this marketing BS for what it is.

    You sell a TV for over $3k in Australia? Our consumer law says a statutory warrant applies which means that a key component like a remote or connection cable fails within an acceptable timeframe (think 5 years for a $3k TV) the manufacturer/retailer is required to replace it for free.

    This is utter BS from Samsung.

      Most Samsung TVs are thin with all the "brains" and ports in a separate "one connect" box. This box has a single fibre optic / power cable from the TV to it

  • Thanks OP, got 1 remote if everything goes well. The chat agent named "Fragas" was a tied arse. I've spent over 1hr20mins with him online. He kept requesting so many things but one at a time… very frustrating and he is damned slow at chatting/responding. Some of his requests were proof of the TV and Serial no, an invoice, a screenshot of the TV info, screenshot that the unit has been registered etc.. all these pain for only able to claim one remote ONLY eventhough their website said 2 items max. I apparently need to chat/call again ONCE I received the remote, to claim for the cable? That's BS

    • Mine was over a year and a half since purchase and they are still sending one through. Just said remote couldnt hold charge and wouldn't turn on.

  • Not too difficult to claim both cable and remote, as long as you follow the terms and have all information ready.

    • Copy of your purchase invoice.

    Took me about 20-25 mins.

    3-5 working days to process.

    • Glad your agent was happy to put through both. My agent was an arse and said that he could only put one through until i receive the remote

    • 100% the same for me. I had chat agent Chachi. They did say they are waiting on stock from OS and will take some time. Also to add they gave me a voucher code for 15% off home appliances as a token of their appreciation lol.

  • Damn - not eligible as mine is over 2 years old. What a marketing gimmick - of course you get some service for free within 1 year of purchase!

  • No go for me. They keep wanting to troubleshoot the remote issues and wont replace the remote.
    Cable is of no use to me as I have the Q60B 75" TV.

      I just sat online with the agent and pretended was going through their checks and just kept saying nothing is working. Ended up confirming faulty and are sending a new one!

          Sorry Circly, just saw your msg. No communication from Samsung or delivery partner. It just rocked up. missed delivery, picked it up from local newsagent same evening.

              What about logging into your Samsung Account and find the repair reference number (below) and have the chat people update you with the status.
