    • JB & GG are the same company :)

Really happy with this TV especially for a bright living room (considering OLED price for this size will be an overkill).

Bought from Samsung online for about the same price after TV recycle credit + 10% loyality discount

What panel type does this use, can anyone confirm? Overseas models use an IPS type, but i went into JB and it was tap test positive so VA panel. Looks like they're dumping different panels here in Aus, so take the rtings review with a grain of salt.

    • I believe 85” samsung panels are all VA from qn85 models and up. If you get 75” and below it will be ips. Samsung don’t make an 85” ips panel. Again this is my understanding and could be wrong

      • Its not even IPS its ADS. I got a 75QN90A and was *king disappointed as it wasnt VA.

        For QN90A 85inch was VA.
Tap test does work so 85QN90C should be VA..damn i want to replace my one.

        • The rtings review is for the ads panel so wouldn't be relevant is my only point. How good the VA is, bit unknown. Main concern would be viewing angle, is there a wide filter on these?
          85" models overseas are ADS.

how does this compare with X95K? Apart from the size difference between 75 and 85, and obviously the price. The X95K can be had for $2.8k+ whilst for an extra 10", this for $3.8K+.

  • I have the previous model and over time it has really grown on me how good it is and how it suits my purposes.

The best three standout features are the reflection handling, wide viewing angles and brightness in a room that receives a lot of sunlight in the afternoon.

I would be torn between choosing this or OLED. I think this generation of OLED has improved immensely with brightness and the upcoming models from LG will take it to new heights. 2024 and future Sony’s will also perform better with reflections.

One note on the QN models - I agree with reviews that point out the better the content the better it looks on this TV, whereas on a friend’s LG OLED lower quality content looks better in general. It does not take away from my experience especially as these can be had at a much lower price point but if you are into pixel peeking and have a lot of non-HD content you may notice it more.
