  • So cool

  • TGG is matching Amazon

    or the other way around…

    • Possibly. Now that I think about it, TGG started their sale first, but I couldn't find physical stock at TGG near me.

Just be mindful there are not many devices on Wifi-7 and this will NOT improve your Wifi range.

In fact Wifi-7 will have much less penetration than Wifi 6 or 5.

    • +3

I could be wrong, but my understanding is that Wi-Fi 7 mainly combines all bands to get higher throughput and doesn't have its penetration power. It's 6, which is the lowest penetration compared to 5 and 2.4.

Since it's tri-band, and if you live in a congested area, this will give you an edge and help tap into the free frequency.

      • Yes Wifi-7 is combining bands 2.4, 5 and 6 but as you go higher into the bands, you'll loose the range & penetration.

As mentioned, there's hardly any devices that supports Wifi-7. The only device is supported is Samsung Galaxy s23. Great if you're using buying Wifi 7 for using on that device.

        Is it faster? Yes

Will it make my WIFI signal stronger? Not in all cases unless you're in apartments with heaps of wifi congestion and unless you have Samsung Galaxy S23

Will it improve my internet speed? No. Read above.

          • @dosada: That’s quite a list. So yeah unless you have any devices as shared above, there’s absolutely no way you can benefit from Wifi-7 right now.

            {insert date + time}

            • @xenoic: And devices = smartphone…what about other devices though?

              • @lasterato: Not sure what else might be out there but I’m mainly on Apple and there’s nothing on wifi 7 at the moment.

              • @lasterato: Windows laptops might be in a bit of a spot until WiFi 7 support hits a release build of Windows. (It's only recently hit Insider builds, was in Canary before that.)

Manufacturers are shipping their laptops with BE200 cards already though, so those should be ready to go when the software is there. (Although some may take issue with them advertising wifi 7 cards with no software support)

                • @Namidairo: I have ordered a couple of BE cards from AliExpress to upgrade my laptop and desktop. Phone is already on wifi 7.

For the minute I am getting the max throughout I can, on a 1gbps plan. My major issue is network congestion which 6ghz helps with.

  • That is one ugly oversized brick.

Looked into this a few weeks ago before purchasing my Asus AX86U pro.
Apparently, these things are pretty buggy and run super hot. Personally, I like TP-Link but regarding the wifi 7 stuff it's not great reviews.

Don't take my word for it, do your own research but just don't go full Ozbargain and buy it without looking into the reviews first.

    • It's defs not a full OZB price

    • Are you happy with your purchase and did you get the AX86U pro at a decent price?

  • This one or TP-LINK ax11000?

    • -2

What device are you using it on? Unless you have a Galaxy 23, there's no device supports WIFI7 :D

      • The Galaxy S23 doesn't even support WiFi 7? What are you on about?

        • 24 ultra has it

      • What do you mean? You can by WiFi 7 network cards now for your computer.

      • From Reddit:
The S23 Ultra has Fastconnect 7800 hardware that supports Wifi 7 unlike the S23+ & S23, but I think it is disabled by software because wifi 7 certification is not complete yet & won't be officially released before mid-2024, non of the smartphones announced with wifi 7 support it, you will always find a note in the announcement says "support will be added via future software update"

    • AX55 prob just as good. $150

      • currently using tp-link VR400 which is 6 years old, have budget for any router that is under $400
AX11000 is 370 from TGG commercial

  • thought it was a pc with a fancy case for a second

I've got this router, and the lack of external antennas seem to hurt its 5 GHz performance. 6 GHz signal seems to fall off pretty quickly, even through just normal plaster walls (ie. 5 Ghz sync speeds/connection quality is better in 80% of the rooms inside my house).
For comparison, from the same room on another floor and about 10 metres away, I'm only getting around 400 Mbps vs 850 Mbps on a Netgear XR1000 - both over 5 GHz AX.

My plan was to add some EasyMesh nodes, which would hopefully use 6 GHz backhaul as an upgrade to my old 5 GHz WiFi 6 setup, but given that even 5 GHz speeds are worse, I'm not too sure this was much of an upgrade at all (vs XR1000 - which has its own other issues)

    • Not sure whats going on with the 5ghz on these routers. Wifi6e is perfectly fine for me with higher MBps

I'll wait for wifi 8 thanks.

Not good enough for my 50/25 NBN tier

    • +1

Make it wifi 9 unless we get 10gbe FTTP rolled out in the next few years lol

    • +3

Wait. How did you get 50/25? I'm still on dial up

      • +3

Sounds about right. Took you an hour to reply to the comment.

    • 50/25 is where it’s at!

  • This is pretty massive as far as routers go!

  • Looks like Qualcomm solution, can't really make out the part numbers from the photos.

Passively cooled, so no none of that 80mm fan brrrrr business at least.

  • Bought one from good guys commercial for 345 pickup

  • How do I get the above price?

It didn't give me that price when I click the link.

    • You will.nees to go back in time.
