Disney+ 1 Year Subscription Gift Card $139.99 in-Store (Gift Card Redeemable by New and Returning Subscribers Only) @ Coles

27

Not really a deal.
I have been paying for my Disney+ subscription through Google Play monthly like a mug for ages. With the price increase (unconfirmed for Google Play) on the 5th of March thought I should get one of these cards before the price rises.
I was going to do it the last time Disney raised its prices but they swapped the cards over pretty quickly to ones with the new price.

Not available online at the moment.

I finally cancelled my automatic renewal of Disney+ after having it since Day 1.

Barely any new content. I got it primarily for Marvel, and there is only ONE more series due for the rest of 2024 which will be Agatha: Darkhold Diaries (same with the theatrical space which is Deadpool 3) - so I'll subscribe then, but no point if I never use the service.

There's barely anything on the horizon too given Disney are scaling back on new original content for D+.

I cancelled Disney + a while back. I plan to get a one month subscription and finish the rest of the shows I'd like to watch. I'm currently on a Turkey Crunchyroll Subscription, and nearly about to finish One Piece, Once on Disney Plus, I'd like to finish Fresh of The Boat and watch some Star Wars movies. Anyone have recommendations to watch on Crunchyroll.

      • I thought Ranking of Kings, Chainsaw Man, and Spy X Family were pretty good but I'm far from an anime expert.

      • Hi NotReallyaMoneySaver, how did you subscribe to the turkey Chmrunchyroll?

        • I used a VPN that has Turkey as an option (I used a 7-day Free trial of Paid VPN e.g. NordVPN). Then I went to the Crunchyroll website and signed up for the plan. If it shows the price in the currency e.g. Lira or Rupees (Not AUD), then go ahead and purchase it. There will be service fees. I have it as monthly being charged around $2-3 including an overseas charge.

Also, I went for the Pakistan/India subscription as the VPN I was using, didn't have Turkey as an option. Good luck mate!

$140 seems like a lot for a streaming platform. Is this a family plan or a single plan?

    • +10

Wait until you add up the annual cost of Netflix if you think $140 is a lot

      • Just check both pricing. That is way too much. I'm still on an Indian Netflix Subscription.

        • +2

Let us know when the Indian one goes :(

          • +1

@mstlx: I don't think it will go for a while. I have family in India who are paying for the subscription. I pay them back of course

  • +7

Sorry but how is this different to the typical online Disney+ price currently available online direct from disney (for the next few days)?
Can also get cashback for new sign ups via those sites

Since op posted is not really deal, then it is no bargain

    Not really a deal.

    • It will be a $30 discount in less than a week, if you can call it one.

      • 30 dollars cheaper !!!! Shut up and take my money

        • +1

It's (profanity) ridiculous how much of an increase in money. The monthly plan is even worse. It's increasing from $14 to $19, which is a 38% increase. I was trying to find a bright side to this post, where there is none.

  • For those with third party subscriptions you usually can't add a year sub so best to cancel and then join through disney. This locks the price at the old price till your old sub ends.

Also there is no expiry on these cards based on the Disney plus site.

Now I can buy 20 years worth of this, so that I don't have to pay $500 in 20 years. :|

      • good luck..

      • Better investment than BTC

For $140 you could go buy a heap of Blue Rays from Cash Converts or any Op shop cheap

There is only one thing worth watching on Disney+ and that’s Shōgun . Saying that, best to just pirate it, save yourself some money, as it’s on an episode a week release.

    This is not the way.

Why are we here then? Use the forums for announcements or discussion.

  • Why is Disney so expensive now

    • +1

      Because some people pay.

  • note that online you at least can get cashback via the usual places, cheaper than the GC.

The other aspect, if these are applied post the price increase are they pro-rata applied or for the full year. I guess you could stock pile them if no expiry to sidestep the annual increases, if you risked they don't change policies.

  • i believe gift cards can only be used for new activations, so you’ll lose your watch history (if you care about them).

not really a deal. - why post bro.

  • Got this in email…price increase for my 'Turkish' subscription.

"Disney is increasing the price of your subscription ‘Disney+ (Disney+ Premium - Yearly)’ from TRY 649.90/year to TRY 1,349.90/year starting on 9 April 2024."

    So greedy! Doubling the price!

I am guessing many of us got this notice? What are your plans?

I am kinda thinking of going back to torrents and usenet

    • +2

Does the Turkish method still work?
