[QLD] DeWALT 30m Laser Distance Meter DW033-XJ $19.97 @ Costco Coomera

390

Costco Coomera are clearing the DeWalt DW033-XJ Laser Distance Meter for $19.97. Seems like a great price after a very quick google. Can always refund if it's rubbish. Just enough to cover the 10 item minimum I think. 🙃

Edit: Here are the details from Costco's online listing where they were clearing it at $59.97.

The DW033 has a working range of 30m and an accuracy of +/-3mm @10m. The laser provides linear metre readings, area and volume calculations, in both metric and imperial. An IP54 rating against water and dust ingress and over moulded housing help maintain calibration under tough jobsite conditions.

This product features:

  • Measures up to 30 metres
  • Easy to see laser guided technology
  • One Button for simple operation, press one button for both hold measurements and continuous measuring
  • Laser class 2
  • Levelling Accuracy +/- 3mm @ 10m
  • Indoor visibility range 0.15 - 30 metre
  • Power Source 2 x AAA
  • Number of beams 1

FYI Same product (30M) at Bunnings / Total Tools for $97, $71.48 on eBay

    • Thanks, hard to add more than basic info on the go.

    • Will they price match it?
      In western Australia?

      • They wouldn’t because it’s a stock liquidation.

        • But then couldn't they buy that stock themselves and resell it?
          They guarantee the lowest prices

          • @Exprise: Costco are likely selling these below the price it cost to order them in (i.e. making a loss) in order to get rid of them to make way for another product. Bunnings wouldn’t be able to order them for that price.

Whilst they guarantee lowest prices, it comes with a few conditions.

    • Yes

      • Can you buy clearance online or is it store only ? Im assuming store only.

        • +1

There are clearance products online. Not always the same. But you are paying whatever the website price is. For this, instore only

    • +10

If an item’s price at Costco ends in .97, it’s on clearance.

  • Wonder if these are in Perth - online says out of stock (and different price), and its quite a distance to travel to get there, might make a trip of it on weekend and will confirm if they have any stock
Has anyone been recently and can confirm stock levels and price?

    • +3

If you haven't been already, Costco Perth Airport is a horrible place to be at weekends!

I'm going there after work today and will report back if they have stock.

      • -2

If you're central-ish, grab me one while you're there?

        • I'll see if they have any and let you know

      • Happy to pay for one too mate with a bit extra to cover ya efforts if they have stock and you're central or NOR. Can't really be arsed driving into that traffic jam :)

        • I live in the hills but I'm in the CBD 2 days a week.

      • +2

Sorry lads, I'm currently at Costco and these are nowhere to be seen. I did ask a staff member too.

  • +3

    any available in nsw?

    • Yes, would love to know - my nearest CostCo is a real hike, don’t fancy spending 40+ mins each way to discover they don’t have them 😂

  • Wow great deal

  • this any good for golf around the greens?

    • It's not designed for applications like that, so it would be of little to no help with golfing.
It's main purpose is to make it quicker to take measurements of buildings, mainly room sizes, wall lengths etc.

    • Nope. If you need this to putt I’d spend the money on lost balls

      • how do you measure the distance, do you just walk it off or tape measure?

        • its uses a laser. Stand in one spot and point at a wall/post with the laser. it measures the distance.

  • -1

I can't be sure but I think that deal is too far away from me.

With the rising cost of living, I will only be attaching these to ill-tempered sea bass. Simply can't afford the cost of sharks, unless I have one billion dollars.

  • +3

At a glance, I thought they are gold bars

  • Anybody seen them at other QLD stores?

  • Sorry what is the 10 item minimum?

    • +3

Sorry, just a joke. Usually you have to have 10 items in stock to post as a deal.

  • +1

anyone know, can bunnings price match?

    • Yes Bunnings will not price match but beat it by 5%.
you will be charged 5% less than advertised Costco Price

      • +1

i don't think they will do that because of costco membership?

    • +1

Bunnings price beat excludes stock liquidations. Given this is a clearance item, I'm tipping they won't.

    Thanks OP!!
    About to drive there now.
Very practical tool as an architecture student, for when we make site visits, or need to take quick measurements of existing rooms.

    • +1

I was wondering the uses for something like this.
All I could think was maybe use for estimates for cable, plaster or paint

    • 😂
Have it even at full price.
It’s like Medical student waiting for a deal on stethoscope and saying this is very useful and they should have one.

  • +2

I asked Bunnings they said they wouldn't price match due to Costco membership

  • +3

Anyone in Melbourne can check the price pls.

    • +1

      None in Epping

      • Thank you!

  • pretty good purchase, good for small projects

  • +1

This seems like a particularly good price to me?

    • +1

Buy first, think later kind of price for me. Not sure if I'll really ever need to use it though.

It does seem to be $70+ everywhere else. Probably be hard pressed to find a noname one for this price I imagine. Being Dewalt it should at least be OK. If you aren't happy with it you can always take it back too.

Just dropped one in the bin.

    • Why? no good ?

    None at crossroads casula NSW

Still HEAPS left at 7:30pm tonight (hardly made a dent from the pic).

Didn't feel bad about picking up 5. The Ozito 25m laser measuring tape is my #1 go-to housewarming gift when friends buy a new house. Super useful when choosing furniture, making layouts and planning renos. My Ozito is still serving me well, but they are $45 and no doubt inferior to these, so I have the next couple of years of house warming gifts sorted for $100!

  • Damn Costco! No membership to buy one :(.

Q: Do you need a membership for the checkouts or only to get into the store?

    • You need it at the checkouts too.

    • Hate that membership rubbish.

  • Ive got a similar little dewalt that came bundled with something, hardly used it but noticed the other day it's now mismeasuring by +- 20mms -50mms. Fresh batteries helped a bit but its essentially useless now.

    • Can probably take it back and get a refund or replacement if that's the case. How long ago did you buy it? Where did you get it from? Maybe can go directly to DeWalt and ask them.

      • Good advice but it's about 6 months out of warranty. I know I could probably push it but as it was a bonus not sure how that would go especially with Sydney Tools! You have inspired me to try Dewalt, nothing to lose.
        thanks

  • FYI there have been multiple reports of people buying empty boxes (happened to a friend). All of mine were fine, but check yours if you haven't already.

    • After I opened my first box I immediately checked the second one that I bought for a friend. Not sure why I did at the time. I guess it was because it was easy to do so? I don't remember it being super easy to open the box.
