Not worth it for the pain if something goes wrong. The worst ISP customer service I have encountered of any company, yes even Optus :).

  • +3

You’ll end up spending it after their 30 day cancellation policy

This! What a load of shit. Trying to charge fees for no service. Happened to me not long ago after churning to ABB 2 days before my billing cycle and then they try to charge me a full month again after the service was no longer active (I'm on HFC).

Called them up a couple days after and they agreed to terminate it on that day but I would have to pay the prorata amount for the 2 or 3 days of "usage". I agreed to this and was told I woukd get another bill. That didn't happen and kept getting overdue bill notices. Called again and went through the same process except this time I said I'm not paying any prorata amount because they're messing me around wasting my time calling them. They agreed to waive the whole bill and I asked for it in email. No email received.

Ended up lodging TIO complaint and it eventually got sorted out.

Yeah I had to wait on hold then threaten a TIO complaint to get it sorted as well.

  • What are the terms of the deal? How long do you need to be a customer to get the deal and what is the 6 monthly offer?

  • +12

Say no to Econnex, look up their name for the string of negs for data privacy among many other issues.

    • Are there no other decent comparison sites on the market other than the dodgy Econnex / CIMET mob that they have become the go to platform for SB and CR???

    • Ah I wasn't aware of this. What were the outcomes from data privacy?

  • Super loop has horrible customer service

    • The 1000/50 plan aint bad.

      • Does that protect you from their customer service?

        • No it won't protect anyone from Superloop customer service. For that you need Nord VPN and a set of Raycons!

        • So far I haven't needed them. I can usually troubleshoot most things myself.

  • +3

So no to econnex, 2 no's to superloop

Reason for neg: read previous posts with issues with both merchants

  • +12

Man, so many bad Superloop experiences? I've had nothing but positive interactions, even after they moved it all overseas.

    • +2

my 1000/50 runs like a dream.

    • +1

If it works then yeah it would be good but its painful when it doesnt. I hope you don't have to find out and I hope they improve.

    • Wait until you try to leave. The 30 day notice period is absolute predatory BS.

  • +4

Superloop has 30 days of notice period for termination.

    • +2

I’ve never run into that issue? Just churn it to another provider on the last day of your billing period as they don’t do prorata bills, but I’ve never had to pay an extra month after leaving.

source: I’ve left after the 6 month offer twice now and both times haven’t had to provide a 30 day notice, just churned on last day of bill

      • +1

You’re brave waiting till the very last day. Good on you!

      • +2

They’ve changed it. I used to do what you did. They tried to charge me for a month I never used. Had to fight them at NSW Fair trading as they didn’t answer my requests to cancel. Only got half money back. They used to be good but are totally crap now

  • that dude rubbing his hands together in the ads creeps me out, would never use em

  • +1

    ShopBack+ Econnex = SCAM

  • Econnex is a tricky bastard. Last cashback with them they never paid me out.

    • +1

      Why did you upvote then

      • -1

Because its $99 instead of the usual $63.

        • +7

$99 or $63 that doesn't get paid is still $0.

I've had 2 experiences with Econnex and I got my gift cards both times. First time, the gift card email just went through junk and it looked incredibly scammy but I was expecting it. Recently, they sent out a SMS saying that the gift card was sent to me so that was good. Meh for the data privacy thing, my details have been breached so many times that I might as well get compensated for it. But it wasn't through ShopBack so can't comment on that aspect

Been with Superloop since September and no issues so far

  • +2

Don't get sucked in - it's false advertising. I have trust issues with all ShopBack deals after having previously gone down this road.

Be warned.. Don't count on getting any cashback from this advertised deal.

    • +1

@booze101 make sure you screenshot everything in preparation for disputing your rejected cashback transaction. Highly unlikely you'll ever get it, and you'll waste much of your life trying.

Personally, I'd just be cancelling the deal if there's a cooling off period.

    Econnex…
I don't know why you keep advertising here.

Looking at the past comments, you should honour your cashbacks

  • I've had 4 experiences with Econnex, twice direct and twice through SB.

The direct ones (Superloop then Exetel) were relatively fine, Woolies gift cards received. Although I think I had to contact them on one of the occasions.

The first one through SB (Tangerine) wasn't tracked, submitted a missing cashback ticket and it was added. Then it got rejected for whatever reason. After a couple of months of chasing, with the help of gotyourback, it was finally approved.

The second one (back on Exetel and it was upsized to $109) went through no problems and approved.

  • Took a few months but i got paid by econnex when i signed up a year ago.
I had to follow up with them tho.

  • My experience with Superloop has been great, 1000/50 running just fine no issues, had to contact support to get carrier grade nat removed, was actioned within minutes.

As to the complaints about 30 day notice for exit, why is this such a big deal, unless you are 1% of the population doing odd things. Sitting back churning between ISPs on a monthly basis isn't good for anyone, it is behaviour like this that causes ISPs to need this type of exit notification so they can attempt at least recover costs on your transient services.

I'll take the monthly savings with the lower plan fees and remember to cancel 30 days before I need to change providers or move house.

  • I received my gift cards before my scheduled reminder went off to chase econnex up. I am happy with econnex. I have not become aware of any privacy issue with my details.

  • Everyone seems to be really focused on talking smack about Econnex.

I'm confused on where it says $99. It says $63 for me.

    Am I blind?

    • The standard cashback is $63 but it often goes back to $99, sometimes even $109.

  • Ill keep you guys posted on the cashback but not sure why so many negs…was first post as well..thanks guys

  • After clicking through here, it says temporary unavailable
