So $19 cost (minimum) for $50 flybuys points? I'm willing to try that

    • +12

Potentially $38 (to get it past two whole months, the third month will be charged)?

    • What's the tracking like though?

I speak as one of many who went through a lot of pain and effort chasing up cashback for a ShopBack/PureVPN deal.

I don't want to go through that again.

      • My experience with coles flybuys bonuses is they are relatively easy to get a hold of, once an offer is "activated" on your account its all just automatically added, same with my OnePass account everything just compiles. I don't think companies are all that hesitant to offer you points to spend at their own stores. Different story when its handing back cash.

      • +4

My experience with these type of flybuys offers have been a real hit and miss. Their shop at coles and earn offers are reliable, but this type of "sign up to" or "transfer points to" type of offers quite often fail for me. Not much luck chasing it up with them either, they just blame it on the other side (their partner). Then you contact the partner and they say "well it's a flybuys promo". It's a neverending tennis match after that.

      • Hey @arcticmonkey . Just to sidetrack a lil based on what you shared above. Could you share how did you go with your Shopback/PureVpN cashback claim in the end? I assumed your trxn tracked successfully. My friend's tracked but didn't pay out at the given date. He's just reported it & still waiting for Shopback to revert. Thanks 🙏

Unless they have changed things in the last 5months, you may get the first 2 months free. My personal experience with Coles plus in late 2023 was:

      1. Sign up for free trial - First month free
      2. Cancel towards end of first month and be auto offered another free month to stay - Second month free
      3. Third month $19

Looks like the retention offer has changed.

Stay with us and get $19 off an online shop over $70 next billing period. Choose Continue membership to activate. T&Cs apply

        Further to that,

Offer is valid for purchases made at coles.com.au. Offer excludes delivery to remote areas. To check whether we deliver to your area, visit coles.com.au. The specified offer will be activated once a Coles Plus member has selected the button to continue their membership via the page the offer is displayed, and after the next scheduled Coles Plus subscription payment has been successfully processed. Offer discount is automatically applied at checkout for the next eligible online order after the criteria above have been met. Minimum online order spend of $70 applies. Offer valid after savings and discounts and excludes purchases of all gift cards, iTunes cards, Coles Best Buys Online Exclusive products, charity items/donations, tobacco and tobacco related products and online delivery fees

Would you not have to start the third month to qualify IE fully complete two full months?

    • +9

Post says cancellation doesnt take effect until end of the period so I would think that you can cancel any time after first payment to be eligible for this.

        • +10

lol, give the poor legend a break ~ this Coles deal has nothing to do with ShopBack!

          • @xdpx: That dude must be shell shocked by all the SB rejections.

        • +2

          Shopback owns Coles? Lol

        • Bruh.

    • Use a prepaid card with only $19 on it.

  • Sign up for trial and then go to cancel it for a $19 credit towards your next shop over $70 in the following billing cycle, if you continue the subscription.

      • AFAIK cashback for Coles Plus has been unavailable on both ShopBack and Cashrewards

    • I did this saw $19 off $70 spend. Making my order now I can't see any discount when over $70 and called support. They say I have a $15 discount and it doesn't even show up at any stage of checkout. I have to pay first and it will just come off after I pay……

I guess after reading some other comments it might come after they charge me the next $19 for the 2nd month

  • -1

So essentialy, $19 for $50 off Coles in Flybuy Points??
    mad.

    • Probably $38 as you have to fully complete the two months, which would end with you being billed the 3rd month.

Imagine if these supermarkets didn't have BS specials and didn't spend money on data harvesting programs like this, and instead put it towards actually lowering prices…

    • +10

      So aldi?

      • Hey! We might be on to something. Far from a perfect example though.

        • +1

Unfortunately perfect example do not exist in Australia 😹

I was a Coles Plus member a long ago, now it's cancelled so if I rejoin will I get the bonus. The page says "$19 to pay today". I think has to be a new customer only. Not rejoining

    • Create new account with diff email addresses

      • And use the same Flybuys number connected to my current Coles account? Reckon that'll work?

        • Give it to try ,never say never

        • perhaps only if that Flybuys account hasn’t received any Coles Plus points before?

also not sure if it's a good idea to have the same Flybuys number linked to multiple active Coles accounts

      • Perhaps a new email address and a new flybuys account?

    • +3

If using gmail you can throw a full stop or underline (its like a wildcard in gmail) anywhere in your email when siging up somewhere, your standard gmail address gets the email..

So one inbox, many addresses or new accounts - according to whomever is running a promo for new customers /wink

By selecting Start my free trial, you're agreeing to the Coles Plus Terms and Conditions. Your first monthly payment of $19 will come out on 6 March 2024. Membership automatically renews each month. Benefits start immediately. Cancel anytime.

Why charging the first month immediately when first month is supposed to be free?

    • -2

What did Coles say when you asked them?

    • Try free for one month:

The one month free trial period for new customers is for one calendar month,

    • +2

I think it just displays that, I went for the free trial and initially it says 6th March, but when I confirmed my card details it told me at the end that I would be charged 6th of April, and I haven't been charged yet.

  • I added flybuys to my coles account after signing up to coles plus, will I still receive the bonus 10000 flybuy pts?

    • contact Flybuys - place an order or make a purchase that gives extra points for Coles Plus members - if you don't eventually receive the bonus, then contact Flybuys

  • Hodl for points without payment

  • Let's get those points!

  • +1

When I select the free trial it says that I'm confused why it would be taking money today:
By selecting Start my free trial, you're agreeing to the Coles Plus Terms and Conditions. Your first monthly payment of $19 will come out on 6 March 2024. Membership automatically renews each month. Benefits start immediately. Cancel anytime.

    • +4

Mine said the same, but then on the confirmation screen it says "Yay! Thanks for joining Coles Plus

Your first monthly payment will come out on 6 April 2024."

      • Ok thanks !

  • +2

    On this page it says:

Coles Plus Week is an online only event, running 6 March – 12 March 2024. Minimum spends, exclusions and T&Cs apply. Discount and bonus item offers apply automatically for members at checkout. Additional 5x Flybuys points on fresh produce will be issued to members 2 weeks after the promotion. Flybuys Bonus points will be issued to new members that sign up during Coles Plus Week and retain their membership by Friday 17 May 2024

Sounds to me like you'd have to sign up by 12 Mar at the latest, pay for a month on 12 Apr and pay for another month on 12 May to still retain membership on 17 May 2024. So the end 'profit' is likely to be $50 (10,000 flybuys) - $19 - $19 = $12?

    • Yep, somewhat marginal, but a fair price to acquire Velocity points.

    • +6

      no, what it means is:

Flybuys Bonus points will be issued to new members - that sign up during Coles Plus Week and retain their membership - by Friday 17 May 2024

i.e. new members, who sign up during Coles Plus Week and retain their membership, will have Flybuys Bonus points issued by Friday 17 May 2024, as per:

Flybuys points will be attributed to the linked Flybuys household member account by Fri 17 May 2024.

      • That is absolutely atrocious wording!

  • ty op

  • Coles now uses palantir, the same AI company that helps IDF generate targets for bombing. For those that care.

    • +1

Good lord…I wonder if you need to chase customer service for 2 months to get those bombs to land?

      • +5

Palantir is an American AI firm that is used by Israel defence force, CIA and pentagon. They profit from wars, and they hold data about everyone.

        • -1

Do they use 1.6ghz signalling? Travis Taylor might want to know …

    • +1

I had no idea, thanks for letting me know!

    • -1

Sweet, I guess I'll be skipping my shop at woolworths in favour of coles.

  • +2

why does Coles Plus cost a lot more than woolies

    • +1

Dunno - it's a big difference. My Woolies annual delivery plan is $119 - I assume the Coles one can only be paid monthly so works out at $228. There is a scam with the Woolies plan though, in that you HAVE to pay for bags - $2 per delivery. So, if you get a delivery a week that's bringing the total price to $223. Does Coles include bags (or an alternative) in their plan?

      • +2

Yes coles charge $1.50 for bags per order.

  • I assume you still can't use gift cards for online shopping with Coles. I get 4% discount with Woolies gift cards that I can use online - with the cheaper Woolies delivery plan it's hard to go with Coles.

    • no, sure, but does Woolworths have an offer equivalent to this - 10,000pts for $19?

      • I think he is referring to the Coles subscription scheme in general. Not this deal necessarily. Little incentive to go with them when Woolies is a lot cheaper and gift cards can be used.

    • Even with $2 midweek delivery from Coles?

  • +3

It seems they track mobile number as well for determining if you've used Coles Plus before. I tried creating a new account with the same mobile number as another account and it no longer offered the one month free, and welcomed me back to Coles Plus.

  • -1

"10,000 Flybuys Bonus points is valid for new Coles Plus members"

What defines a new Coles Plus member? Never having had Coles Plus before, OR haven't had Coles Plus in the last 12 months, OR haven't had it for over 3 months, OR didn't have Coles Plus yesterday?

    • I'm confused too as I've used a trial before. This offer doesn't show on my flybuys so not sure whether to risk it

  • +1

Anyone who has used cole plus enlighten me, I read that i get free delivery if i order over $50. When i select time slot it says its free, and I am saving with my coles plus, but when it comes to the payment page it shows $11 delivery and my total includes a $11 delivery cost, and next step is to add CC details to pay.

wth, is it free deliervy or not?

    • +1

Ok I worked out even though it says it’s free, it’s not, because my order had a small discount which pushed me under the $50 at check out. When I order a bit more so after discount it’s still over $50 it does become free.

      • +2

What did you add? If you ordered right then your next meal could be @cloudy with a chance of meatballs

  • have they added the ability to use Coles gift cards for checkout?

    • Not that I saw…but I could be blind

      • you could be blind but it seems you can see

  • +1

so is it confirmed can cancel 2nd month or need 3 months? a few conflicting theories here

    • Reading the T&C's, it says "Flybuys Bonus points will be attributed to new members that sign up during Coles Plus Week and retain their membership by Friday 17 May 2024."

In order to achieve that and sign up by 12 March, you'll need 3 months (one free, two paid = $38). So if you want this, you'll get 10k Flybuys for $38, plus the perks of Coles Plus.

      • +1

this is where the confusion sets in…that sentence can also be interpreted as you will receive the bonus points by the 17th may

        eg:

Flybuys Bonus points will be attributed to new members that sign up during Coles Plus Week, and retain their membership, by Friday 17 May 2024.

        aka

Flybuys Bonus points will be attributed by Friday 17 May 2024.

i can also see how it could be read that you need to have 3 months mems to get the reward, but it says at the start that u have until the 12th march to sign up to get the bonus 10k points AND have 2 months active, which contradicts the 3 month thing?

wouldnt want to cancel after paying $19 on month 2 and not get the points since you NEED 3 months, but also dont want to pay 3 months when only needed 2

          • @tonester: this was my initial thought when i read the offer, but others are saying otherwise

        • "retain their membership, by Friday 17 May 2024" really just has the interpretation that you need to be a member for that date to get the 10k points. And again, it says a minimum of 2 months active. You can exactly hit 2 months by cancelling early assuming they late the membership run out. It might end just at 2 months, so you're really not at the minimum (e.g., you get to 1.999999 months but never 2.0).

Unless someone calls up and gets a definitive answer, people need to accept the risk of paying for a month and cancelling and getting nothing. To me, the T&C's are just dodgy enough that it means pay $38. The case for $19 is weak.

          • +1

@bk1973: yeah thats the risk i guess..ill see if i can get ahold of support now

            • @sjsls: did you get hold of support to confirm?

              • @isthisreallife22: was on hold for 30min then they hung up on me so i didnt bother trying again

                • @sjsls: Man that sucks :(

                • +2

@sjsls: I got a reply from Flybuys FB messenger:

As per terms and conditions of the offer, 10,000 Flybuys Bonus points is valid for new Coles Plus members that sign up and create a Coles Plus account between Wed 6 March and Tue 12 March 2024, have a Flybuys membership linked to their online Coles account, and remain a member for a minimum of two months.

Members must remain with Coles Plus for a minimum of two months to be eligible for the reward.

Bonus points will be added to the linked Flybuys household member account by Fri 17 May 2024.

                  We hope this helps :)

I reckon OP is right :)

                  • +4

@isthisreallife22: yeah i just got off the phone with support (131116 number) who confirmed you only need to be a member for 2 months (1st free month, then 2nd $19 month and cancel before it ends), and the points will be payed out on or before the 17th may.

also, i noticed the T&Cs have been reworded slightly to be less ambigious.

"Flybuys Bonus points will be attributed to new members that sign up during Coles Plus Week and retain their membership for two months, by Friday 17 May 2024."

they added "for two months" before the 17th may part which cements it for me. will be canceling during my 2nd month and only paying $19

                    • @sjsls: note that the T&Cs for this particular Coles Plus week offer, as per the deal description, have never changed

          • +3

            @bk1973:

"retain their membership, by Friday 17 May 2024" really just has the interpretation that you need to be a member for that date to get the 10k points.

            -1

one does not retain something by a certain date

one retains it until or through to

however one does issue something by then

selectively quoting a phrase, instead of the full sentence, can result in the wrong interpretation

            • +1

              @tonester: Agreed.

The use of those specific words can only correctly be interpreted to mean the mentioned date is when the points should be received by.

Not to mention there are other parts of the T&C's that say the same and are less ambiguous.

  • -1

So much effort for $38 and then Coles owns your soul, heart, blood, credit card. So stupid and misguided.

  • To make matters more confusing …the coles chat bot as well as live chat reference that returning members are also eligible for the 10,000 points. Albeit everything online talks to ‘new’ customers only. When I go to do the free trial though it doesn’t work, so I’m not too sure the 10,000 pts will be applied for returning customers without having to ping them later. I’ve taken screen shots anyways.

They really should get someone to read over their T&Cs and make it clearer and more consistent.

    • Returning customers are eligible for this deal, they just don’t get the free trial month so the profit is significantly lower.

      • how do i know if i signed up coles plus before?

        • +1

if no free trial, then you have :)

  • That's annoying, I literally signed up for the free trial a few days ago!

  • What is I start the trial first and then link the flybuys account? Will I still get those points??

  • Now that the big two supermarket chains have driven most of the competition out of business, they're making us pay pay a subscription service for the privilege of saving a few dollars.

    • +1

Amazon also wants us to pick up our own parcels at their hubs

  • +1

Just signed up, will cancel in the second month

  • Just discovered the hard way that I already used the free trial back in May last year. That'll learn me :)
