    Yeah nah.

Over engineered, heavy on resources, planet destroying mug. Maybe I'm a bit dramatic.

  • +2

    REAL gold?

    • +5

for that price it would want to be

  • +14

All it takes is one guy with a massive penis to knock this off its charger and burn the whole place down

    • +1

lol Gold, not as in the mug

  • +4

This is likely an ATL low for this model but I'm not keen on the gaudy colour

  • +1

    Why?

  • I got one for $20 but no battery built in from Amazon tand it works, don’t see why spending this much

    • +2

Well back in the day the more you paid the better the quality would be, sometimes it still applies.

Curb your enthusiasm breaks the 4th wall.

  • lol wut

Thats only the base i think

      • Yeah you are right.
So OP's price seems good then compared to others.
These things go up to $250 at some places, JBHI has them for $200!

How long it takes for you to sip 300ml coffee? Insulated cup can maintain heat for hours..

    • Exactly. If this was the big cup id get one for the mrs. Shes always leaving cupsnto go cold

    • I am using bodum and the coffee is like 15C cooler in 3 mins.

    • +1

yup i use an insulated cup even at home, sun surface temps for a good quarter hour even with the lid off, just ask the roof of my mouth

  • +4

I was thinking about getting one before as I WFH and in winter coffee gets cold really quickly.

But then I just got a good quality insulated mug (e.g. Yeti, Camelbak, Thermos) - it keeps the coffee hot for literally hours.

Well now I have to get it, just so I can have a home assistant turn my coffee machine AND COFFEE MUG on.

Lost me at hand wash only(well lost me before but kicked me off the cliff)… if you can dish wash a milk frother from Nespresso that’s half this price you should have improved the product enough by now that you can dish wash….

A solution looking for a problem

  • I dont know how people can just let their coffee sit there and get cold, i love it too much. But if by chance i did, a 3 cent zap in the Microwave does the job, unfortunately my Microwave isnt gold :(

    • +1

      Not an LG (Lucky-Goldstar) microwave?

      • No, maybe I can paint it to look expensive

  • -1

What better way to prove to everyone that you're the biggest (profanity) in the office than to have a $260 gold mug.

    • +1

Depends where you work, in some places this is a prerequisite

  • +2

    $10 off with code FEBSAVE

  • why the hell is st vincent depaul selling techno mugs?

    • I suspect that they had a donation from a retailer or wholesaler. Might be a tax right off for the donator?

My wife takes about 5 hours to drink her morning coffee (don't ask me how), and this is about the only present I've given her in the last 10 years that she's actually consistently used and liked.
Yes, it's expensive and it pained me to buy it, but happy wife, happy life or something like that…

Note: the one issue we've had is one of the little spring pin's in the base no longer pops up to consistently charge it. I've fixed it by curling up a bit of copper wire on top of it. Probably not the best solution, but I haven't been game to open it up and resolder another on yet…

    • i had the same thing with the charging pins and mine stopped charging completely. Actually a bit different, yours is bent while mine was depressed into the base. They replaced it via warranty quite quickly and seemed to be aware that this is a common issue.

      • Oh no mine is depressed too. But there's still enough for the copper wire to touch it and the mug base.
Ordered mine over a year ago, so not sure they'd cover it under warranty, but maybe I'll try…

I have one of these electric teapots (linked below) and it's probably a fair bit more useful for half the price for tea drinkers. I put on a pot at the start of the day, it comes to boiling and then sits at 70 degrees (lovely drinking temp) ready for every fresh pour. Maybe you could use it for coffee, dunno.

Id be curious as to how the op shop got these. Often crappy products that have quality issues are dumped at the op shops.

  • +1

something for the hipsters, wait are there any of those left?

microwave for 20 seconds if the brew gets cool, been working for average people since dawn of microwave

also could you imagine the type of boring twat who sits there and customises his temps etc with the phone app…god i hope theres 1 degree c increments for that guy to nut to

Really want a temperature controlled smart spoon as im tired of my spoons being too hot or too cold when i use them.

  • +1

    Another first world problem solved

  • i know everyone here is negging these, but i own one and think is amazing :)
    Use it multiple times daily
No more cold coffee/tea for me!

  • +1

I love it too. I am one of those guys who just sips on a coffee over a long period of time and I find this useful for that. So much so that i have ordered another one now for another room of mine.

Also FYI - the larger cup is also available on sale. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/196280801079

    • Damn this is even better deal

EDIT: they list it with the same RRP and same price so might not be the larger size…
