As per usual with low end msi rigs - bad build quality and cooling solutions go hand in hand. Hinge problem is even unfixed in 2024 sku(unless, you pay for a 2023 GP or higher end, which they now copies ROG Strix hinges, no hinge fix for amd sku sorry - even the ‘best’ amd sku use the old GP chassis without the hinge fix), and so is the case with this 2023 one. FHD 45% ntsc screen also brings wonders to terrorise your eyes.
On upgradability - There is a second SSD slot, except without the mounting screw hole for it - guess why? Because the chassis haven’t been updated in years and MSI isnt even willing to make a slightly different mold to accommodate for that weird ssd orientation.
Outside of that, small battery + intel 12th with high uncore wattage = battery life goes poof. On that topic, two generation old cpu at this point, even without the gains here being night and day, it is a cut down nonetheless.
Did we talk about ports yet? There is a USB2.0 port in 2024, all other usb ports are gen 3 but 5gbps variants only. No thunderbolt despite being an Intel based sku. Yeah that’s the more cutdown you are looking at here.
I would stay away as far as I can.

Good question, the Omen deals are gone, and I would recommend a Legion Pro 5, but it’s not at the cheapest price ever - I am looking at nearly 2.5k factoring the selective upgrade into 4070. Cashrewards is currently only 3.3% but might update to a higher % in two days.
However, viewing from mobile, I am getting a 10% off coupon popup. Can you see if you can get the same offer?. Would bring it down to within 200$ of the Katana and is quite more enticing a price.

Not tied to Lenovo specifically, you just seemed to have a wealth of current knowledge if anything is a current good deal/device.
Sounds like it might be best to pause at the moment.
