They may as well just give away this phone for free when people order something else lol

  • +1

this phone is just legendary, the 12gb really helps with the performance

  • +8

Is this beast the Eneloop of mobiles on OZB?

  • +2

    I don't need it!

Bargain. Samsung want $450 for the same LTE chip in a tablet and only 4GB of RAM.

    • Unfortunately moto's update support isn't great. This is unlikely get updates after 2025

I don't read every comment on a 10hr old post.

      • -2

We can track from Ozbargain logs when you browsed and looked at that posf

        • +10

ok then you can also track how many times I've watched and posted the G84 by finding it myself. Not sure why all these neggers are struggling to understand that more than one person can find a deal independently. It's not rocket science.

For the people who still struggle to comprehend this, let me explain my process.

          1. I saw this post. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/836092
          2. I opened the link which shows all $20 off items.
          3. I saw the G84.
          4. I added to cart to confirm the code works to get the price of $279.64.
          5. I posted the deal on OzBargain.
        • +5

Without this post, myself and 99% of all OzBargainers wouldn't have seen the main page. Sure, if another person found the deal first, credits to them. But sometimes we don't know whether a deal has been found by another person already if it's a random comment in a random post.

I'm sure Scotty has much better things to do

          • +2

@Leho: Yep, and do we REALLY need to have our name painted in the sky for all the Ozbargain community to see every time we do something good? Can't we occasionally just do something nice in private, just knowing we helped someone out should be the reward, not the recognition supposedly associated with it. We all use fake names anyway!

Get in quick before they fix. From the T&Cs for APAYDAY:

      • +1

        Thank you! Sorted!

  • Just smashed my s22 Ultra..mate gave me a S20 FE - Keep or get this?

    • +22

s20fe for free is better than paying for a phone

  • +1

Is this better than motorola edge 20 fusion

    • Slightly but the being able to upgrade to android 14 is a big plus for the g84. Still pissed the g82 aint getting it.

  • -1

    further 10% cashback from shopback?

  • I'm sticking strong with the G82 for another year or so. It's still humming

  • jumped on it, for me it was this or get my smashed pixel 6 pro screen replaced for $550+

    • +3

you can buy another G84 for the same price

  • Is this an upgrade from a redmi note 9 pro?

  • +1

Apparently these have a camera blur issue. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ngS8Flf-qo read comments

    • Lets hope this batch is ok , otherwise mobileciti will get a load of complaints…

    • +1

Yes wife experienced this problem and sent it back.

In addition the UI was buggy as hell. Keyboard apps would disappear etc.

Decided to return it and opted for a Pixel 6A instead.

      • Damn, makes the Poco x6 look more appealing.

  • Getting close to the magic $250

    • +1

$200 price error ala G82 and it would be insta buy for me.

  • Is there a samsung switch like app for motorola to transfer old phone over to new?

    • +1

Nah even easier… plug a USB cable from the old to the new and it transfers.

  • Good deal!

  • Is there any good deal on tablets?

  • This is insane, I remember paying the same price for the G54 when it first came out.

Though to be fair, I did desperately need a phone so circumstances trump all.

    • -1

Is the G54 considered a better phone than the G84?

  • Has Anyone tried office works for price match?

    • +1

      Not with a code.

  • Can this be paired with galaxy watch 5?

  • Edge 30 Neo owner here, fantastic phone - similarish to G84 but G84 wins, and just got Android 14 update ready to install this morning.

  • it says AFPAYDAY "This code has expired."

    • the code for this is APAYDAY, the AFPAYDAY is from last year

  • Price has increased to AU $348.99 now
With 15% discount it will come down to AU $296.64 only.

    • +5

It is actually a further price drop as you need to apply second code AFSAVE20 for a further $20 off, bringing it to $276.64, or a $3 saving from original offer.

      • +1

Thank you. Bought one. Thanks OP.

  • Had previous issues using this phone because of Moto's… unique… microphone permissions in Android 13: They've patched those issues this week with android 14 and the phone doesn't have any issues with my work's soft-phone app.

    • Great screen and build for the price
    • Big battery
    • Headphone jack
    • Not terribly slow
    • Moto customer support is awful
    • Iffy guarantee of consistent future updates
    • +1

      Bit alarmist don't you think?
I haven't purchased a phone in Australia in a decade. I've never had a problem, nor my partner or anyone I know. Article was probably paid for by telstra, optus and jbhifi

    • +1

Mobileciti and Allphones are well known on Ozbargain for supplying Australian Stock, they have an Ozbargain Rep and a brick and mortar store in Parramatta.

This is also clearly stated on their website and there are literally hundreds of deals posted on Ozbargain over the last decade. If there were any issues with the seller they would have been flagged by now by the savvy Ozb community.

Please do some research before you post misinformation.

  • APAYDAY it says it's a wrong code?

  • My rog phone 3 is still no longer VoLTE enabled by Asus (even its capable), damn asus. I guess this would be my next phone.

May i know why this is popular among ozbargain fellow?

    • +1

You're getting a lot of phone for the money; big battery, good screen, headphone jack, 5G, lots of RAM and storage. There aren't many other phones for less than $300 with this spec list.

  • Just bought a blue one, thanks op but do i even need it?

    • Same here. Bought the blue one. But not sure what I am going to do with it. My S21+ still running strong and no issues..

      • +4

well that was pretty stupid of ya, spending money for nothing, then you will need to sell it at a loss.

        • I’m actually thinking of ditching the iPhone SE 2020 3/64 which is inherently cursed by having no expandability whatsoever.

  • Bought a Blue one, actually needed a new phone so great timing, my Redmi Note 8 pro has served me well. Hopefully this one is a good upgrade

    • Hey mate,
for me it just applies $20 off and APAYDAY gives error that it's wrong code? What am I doing wrong? Any idea

      • Are you selecting Afterpay as a payment option? I used AFSAVE20 and APAYDAY together for the $279.64

        • Not using Afterpay. I applied AFSAVE20 successfully but when I apply APAYDAY it says:

Looks like that's the wrong code. Please double-check and try again.

        • +1

Oh got it. Used Edge browser and that gave a better error message stating I need to use Afterpay. Sorry I missed that bit.

Is the G54 a better phone? I'm checking comparison sites and they look almost identical in specs with similar price.

    • +1

No, G84 is OLED, 12Gb RAM (vs 8GB), 256GB Storage (vs 128Gb). Also Snapdragon 5G processor which supposed to have better reception.

      • i reckon none of those specs are worth the 50% increase in price

which ones got better battery life?

  • This or Google Pixel 7a. Pixel is nearly $200 more than this. $200 is worth?

    • See comparison here

    • I haven't seend any update for G84 yet (last update was 1st September 2023). My company blocked my email access on this phone :(

If you don't care about up-to-date update, you will be fine. :)

  • PWM is low like 90Hz as per notebook check on G84. Display is great with high refresh rate. Brightness is great. Color reproduction is brilliant with 10Bit color. Just that screenflickering might not worth for sensitive user.

    • so how do they achieve 120hz refresh rate with 90hz pwm?

      • refresh rate and PWM are different concepts.

Refresh rate is how often screen updates to display image while PWM is how rapidly display turn off and on to control backlight. Both are measured in Hz. Oled display mostly use PWM instead of DC dimming.
