Spinifex Dreamline Double High II Air Mattress Queen $59 (Club Price) + $8.99 Delivery ($0 C&C/ in-Store/ $99 Order) @ Anaconda

1060
welcome10

A fully inflatable mattress for $69. You beauty. Problem is, my better half said she wasn’t "into it". I clearly had work to do. Lucky for me I have an Anaconda close by, and I managed to pursuade her to take a look at it.

So off we went.

Despite my best efforts, she was still reluctant to give $69 a go. So at checkout I asked the guy if there was anything he could do to help a brother out.

With a wink and a smile he said enter code welcome10.

Might have to buy this to replace the spare bed and to try and persuade the mother in law to not stay at our house anymore due to only having a blow up

Thats a literal laugh out loud. Actually almost a snuffle out the nose as I had a mouth full of coffee.

And wake up half sunkin in

    • That's why I got the upgraded one, stays plugged in to quietly pump air in when needed 🙂

      • +1

Could you please share the link to the upgraded version?

Having it quietly refill air when needed seems like a great feature

        • +1

          Whoops late to reply!

Different brand, but got this one

          • @spackbace: This looks great, thanks for sharing! Previous air beds I've bought always end up a bit deflated and lopsided after a nights sleep, looks like this will hopefully remedy that.

    • I can't speak for this exact one. But similar ones I've had in the past haven't deflated, and like this with the built in pump, I've found that they have enough umphf that you can throw your arm over and flick the switch and they'll reinflate with you on it. Probably not supposed to do it that why, YMMV.

What do people recommend as an alternative to an air mattress? Like something that packs away and is somewhat comfy. Read that camping pads are ok but this is really for use at home rather than transporting.

    • Yeah, I'm in the market for something similar, while trying not to drop >$1k on a decent sofa bed.

    • There is no magical substance that just 'disappears' to facilitate convenient storage … so there's really nothing else designed for indoor/home use that can be 'packed up and stored away' but is not designed to be inflated. I guess you could blast yourself back to the 80s and get one of those wooden-based futons that 'fold' up into a little couch. Or, you could do a major room reno and install a bed that folds up into a wall, like they have in countries where the population density is so high that every human only has about a square metre of living space …

    • If you have the room, just get a spare mattress and a mattress storage bag and use that instead. Our visitors were pretty glad when we finally swapped out the spare air mattress for a real one.

      • Yeah that's what I was thinking. But also what I was thinking on price. Will keep looking i guess as it seems this air mattress is not what I'm after anyway.

      • Second this. More comfortable than a lot of regular beds.
        Worth the money.

    • Folding cot + good self-inflating pad packs up quite small. Not the cheapest but comfy and relatively durable.

      Ikea hemnes variant

      https://www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/hemnes-day-bed-frame-with-3-dra…

I'm using it.now for my parents/ in laws

      • But that looks bulkier than a single bed 🤔

        • That will become a sofa when they are not visiting. Much comfier to sleep on compared to sofa bed but maybe not as comfy to sit on

    • Maybe something like this with an thin-ish Ikea mattress on top?
      https://yona.com.au/products/cardboard-bed

Put the mattress under your bed when not using, or stand it up next to a wall…etc

  • I have one of these but not sure how to inflate it at camping as it requires the power socket for built in pump

    • Would require a generator or a powered camp site.

    • +1

A $20 200W inverter will convert your cigarette lighter to enough 240V to pump up the mattress. Been doing it this way for years

      • +1

@feisty if you don’t mind suggesting which ones I can buy. So clueless on this. Was thinking to buy a power station but they are around $300-400

        • Gwydre 200W Car Power Inverter, DC 12/24V to 230V AC Car Inverter,3 USB 1 Type-C Ports.
Got one of these from amazon that i use for stuff. $50 but i gotbit for $35 when they had some percentage off

        • sorry about he late reply. anything you see on amazon or ebay that is 200 watts or more will do. It doesn't have to be flash. small is nice though. for this sort of thing I use amazon and look at the comments.
the one Two50rr suggested looks good and has good reviews.

    • "Can be plugged into the wall for electronic inflation, or can also be manually inflated."

You can use something like this for camping

    Great for kids.
Anyone over the age of 12 would be more comfortable on the couch though

  • My wife and i's combined weights are 240kg, would it be suitable

    • +8

thats easily 500kg of momentum at the right velocity and angle.

    • -2

I think a diet would be the most suitable

    Anaconda Review:
    (not for HEAVY sleepers)
"last night I was sleeping on the ground!!!! … No holes or anything in it! I have put it down too a weight limit? Which if is the case why DOESNT it say when it’s being ADVERTISED!!!! Not a happy customer"

  • Upvote for the crafty write-up. I see what you did there ;-)

  • +1

Tell your wife she doesn't have to be into it. It's for the mistress.

    • +3

      You spelled "mattress" wrong.

  • +2

… this is fine when it works…
Add mattress topper type fitted sheet as can be cold.
Used it for temporary option when staying somewhere short term. Plug into wall
Height makes a difference for a bed feeling.

but had same fault twice though….
Mirco hole along seam over time. Slow leak over time til you find the hole.
    1st time replacement …
2nd time manager was a jerk saying not covered under warranties
… i kicked up a stink as still would be a fault for ACCC
Eventually got refund as they refused to replace it blaming me saying youll do the same thing in future. (Umm yea if it didn't have a fault i would not be standing there!!!)

So after that have opted for the aldi one at least that came with 3 year warranty. Doesn't have the height but I feel like aldi will actually help when or if things go wrong

Nice! I had a BIRTHDAY10 code and wondered what to use it for. :D
The email said the code was expired, but it worked. Don't forget to give it a try if you're a member.

    • +1

thanks for the code. got it for 59

  • Bought one, used in a spare room first night slowly deflated. Tried it again, same thing. Took it back for full refund. BCF said it's a common fault….

    • we have had an intex queen for 5+ years, probably closer to 8-10

its slightly softer in the morning but still firmer then most soft or medium beds

We bought it because our SIL had one, we slept on it one night after being assured we wont wake up in the middle of the night on the ground or a sore back, which was true then waited until it was on clearance to buy one

  • Yoh bro how's the boinking on this mattress?

    • +3

Wouldn't know, but the left hand can't feel the right hand moving, so must be good!

    • -2

Spotlight too? Damn. guess I’m gonna stop buying from them

  • +2

Yeah, don't buy this. Got it last year, first night was amazing, second night ended up sleeping on the floor. I pumped some air before the 2nd night just in case. Since then, it never holds the air longer than a few hours. Threw it to the bin. Kmart ones are better.

  • +6

We have the Aldi-equivalent of this.
Worked a treat for the mother in-law's visit … she's never going to stay over again.

  • I wish these came with a 12v pump. Would be more useful.

    • -2

wrong. i like it like this.
i bring my makita blower, fan, lantern, drill, cooler, radio kettle, coffee machine, etc…
so my batteries work with everything seamlessly and i use my blower to blow up my air mattress.

      • -1

wrong, for you. I guess you have an inverter to do that. I run fridge, pump etc 12v with 1 battery and solar when camping, and I'm not interested in buying an inverter or batteries I can't charge.

        • you don't have to charge the batteries, it last for the whole camping trip. how long are you camping for, a month?

  • Are these machine washable?

    • yea pressure washable

Dear Penthouse OzBargain Forum, I want to tell you about an experience I recently had. As an avid reader I've always wondered if the letters are true.

  • Didn't need it but was a lil deflated having not bought anything this weekend.

  • Price matching ALDI I guess, they have Bestway Tritech Queen on special for $59.99

  • Great write up, a missed opportunity on Anaconda though

  • How do you know when to turn off the inflation? There's no auto cut off right?
