Can this be used as an extension cable for a tesla umc?

Blue Tesla MENNEKES 7.5M Type 2 Cable is $310 delivered when they're back in stock:

    • It’s 11kwh max for model 3 n model y.

      • and your point is?

        • If you are on a 22kwh charger you cannot utilise the maximum power

          • @Ejo: The Model 3 and Y can only charge to 11kW so your point is not right.

I'm not sure with that charger what would happen if you visited a single phase 7kW charger (might only be around 5.3kW based on the Model X/S numbers)…

Sometimes the thinner cables will only output 3.6kW per phase.

            • @eddyah: Err that's not the way it works.

S/X has dual onboard chargers, so max 22 kW, in reality when both are going about 17kW.

The 3/Y has a single on board charger so max charge rate is 7 kW on single phase (32 A) and 11 kW three phase (16 A).

The Tesla sold cable is the go to cable.

Interestingly, that Tesla cable states up to 16.5 kW with Model S and X.

So I would assume that it is a 22kw rated cable.

So that means you would be paying an extra $50 for .5 metres of cable, and giving your money to the Musky one.

I think that makes this still a deal.

  • When do I need a 7M cable vs a 5M one? Have a MY

When someone has ICEd the charging spot

        How you got downvoted? Shameful.

        • There's someone who doesn't like EVs downvoting all those early comments I think.

When you need extra 2m because of the charger design has your car's port when parked on opposite side of charger.

Some people like the compact of smaller size. I prefer the longer length so I have options and not limited. Means you need to wrangle extra cable, but that's cool with me.

  • Not fancy and orange, but the Mcevkeln 7m, 22kw type 2 cable is currently $254.99 as deal of the day on Amazon:
