Nice, saw a Meta Quest 2 on marketplace for $200 the other day should've nabbed it but had sold within 30 minutes

    • You're better off not taking that deal. You'd likely only have to return it to the true owner once the person that stole it was "helping police with their enquiries"
      😁

      • I mean it’s not too far off price. About maybe 4 months ago I got a quest 2 with bobovr 2 battery head strap + vrcover facial interface for $320 total. Now I did get a tremendously good deal but it’s not far off

      • Never own up to having it and keep it out of sight.

      • +3

lol you’re assuming the police follow this stuff up. From past experience most stolen items the owners can kiss goodbye. Sadly, they rarely get traced.

  • I just bought it for $1054

    • +2

Contact Amazon or your credit card company, they sometimes refund you the difference (28 degrees card etc).

      Good luck!

      • +5

I might just buy this one and return the other one for a refund. If I wait it might revert back to the original price.

        • Can you do that with opened products?

          • @Bisky1: t&cs day no: "Packaging must be unopened and seals intact (where applicable), except for fashion items, which can be opened

            • +2

              @Borg: I will return the unopened.product.

              • +1

@jamba: Then not a drama and you’ll only be up for shipping fees which apply to most change of mind returns.
I always thought it was free!

              • @jamba: They have unique serial numbers so I thought about it but didn't. Let us know how it goes though!

                • +1

@Phorest Grump: Just an update. I got free return shipping. A full refund of $1040 to my card. Here is the sweet part, i had already activated 6 month's of Meta + trial so got an extra 6 months with the new quest making it 12 months of Meta +. Amazon return policy is one of the best.

        • +7

Getting it at the right price seems like your true meta quest for this product.

  • tempted

Thanks OP. I just lost my job, likely with no severance - but I will probably be able to find whatever job I want in Virtual Reality!

    • +4
      • That game even comes OzB verified - "Get 30% off with code SPRING30."

Probably can use referral credit and get it for free!

[For anyone not clicking the link, there's a Job Simulator Game for VR… With immense ratings - who said youth didn't want to work?].

I wonder if I can add the experience to my resume..

      • +1

        whatever job

Yes, it will blow your mind

  • awesome.. was waiting for a deal like the last one, but this is better!

  • Pretty glad I missed the ~$50 discount a few weeks ago now!

  • +1

    Grabbed one, thanks OP :)

  • ok bought. wooo big gaming purchase after a long time

  • I have the 128GB model and it is definitely not enough space. This is a really great deal for those who are tempted.

    • +2

i thought games were only a few gigs each

    • +1

Depends on how you use it. 128gb is still plenty fine for most apps, its just the few aaa games.

You can remove them and preserve yourbsaves anyway

    • I disagree, for mixed PCVR and standalone use, 128gb is perfectly adequate. For Standalone only use, definitely get 512gb, or get a pc.

  • +4

I was thinking "thats the normal price", but then saw its the 512gb model. A very worthy purchase imo.

  • Can't purchase in Victoria. Seems to be fixed?

  • +5

about to pull the plug, had it in my cart.. watched a few reviews.. came back to seal the deal…. and out of stock ><D.. couldnt afford it really anyways.. bad and good for me at the same time.. haha

    • Haha same here!

      • Ay bro… thats the universe telling us.. its not the right time 😆.. and i have to pay off my debts before i buy more ***t lol

        • Damnn i missed out while youtubeing reviews too :( hopefully theres a deal like this in future!

          • +1

@Shef: Itll come down to same price again in future, i wouldnt stress, theyre expensive already

    • +9

That's my life story on OzB. Lol.

Actions: Spend a couple of hours researching product(s) with money that should go elsewhere.
Actions: Decide to pull the plug, only to find out that it's sold out.
Thoughts: Get angry at yourself for being slow(cautious) and feel like you're missing out on an opportunity of sorts that you somewhat already had.
      Moments later…
Thoughts: (profanity) am I glad that it forced my hand by selling out.

Unless the item is something that was on your list, then you just continue to get annoyed at yourself every time you see future deals thinking "I could have gotten it EVEN cheaper!"

      • +1

        FOMO FOMO

PS i think youre using 'pull the plug' incorrectly

        • Haha, yes I read "pull the plug" I thought why are you worried it went OOS then…

      • +2

Itll come down again at same price eventually.. i wouldnt stress, its expensive as is already

    • So reviews say its a worthy upgrade from quest 2?

    • Thanks for the tips

    • Keep getting below error - even though I don't remember utilising it. tried it on multiple emails

      Unable to accept referral
There was an issue with accepting this referral. You may not be eligible because the country or region is not supported, you referred yourself or you already accepted this referral.

      • how do you check if you have already accepted and its sitting waiting to be credited once you activate a quest purchase?

        • As far as I know (its been ages since I did it) there is just a confirmation screen when you accept it, it doesn't email you or anything. The person who you accepted it from will have your username in a list of pending possible referrals, so if you know who they are you could ask them.

Perhaps try accepting it from a different phone or laptop, particularly making sure you are not signed in to a meta or facebook account that has used a quest before. Otherwise Reddit is a pretty good resource for some of the more obscure error messages

          • @toniyellow: it was via the ozbargain random referral's not a real friend of mine :(

            • @ChatCPT: If you can remember when you first accepted, their meta username might be in your browser history as its part of the referral link

If you can't access that, I guess you have to figure out whatever is causing meta to recognise you have had an account before, so you can find a way to appear to be new and start from scratch.

I bought mine second hand. Can I get this discount?

  • +2

    Missed out…nooooooooooo

  • Missed out. Hmm next time i guess

  • I'm new to this referral credit thing.
Can a friend who already has a quest 3 activated since release get this credit if I refer them since I just bought the Quest 3 from this deal? Or only myself get the credit.
How do I go about it?
    Thanks Ozbargainers

    • +1

Yes you can, to the maximum of 940$ per year.

    • +1

Your friend refers you. You both get $47. There will be details in their meta quest app on the menu page.
Accept their link before you turn on your new Quest.

      • +1

        OK thank you

  • -1

Great, I just bought mine last week!

    Anyhow, I'm happy with it.

  • +5

Bugger I missed it. Always when you're sleeping.

  • +3

Why are these always when normal people are sleeping lol?

    • penance is sleep

  • +1

for those that don't know if you get the "preorder versions" that come with Asgard's Wrath 2, they also come with a free copy of Asgard's Wrath 1 (PC only version) as well, as well as population one.

I was surprised it came to all 3 games.

  • +1

Was this legit or a price error?

    • its sold out so no??

  • +1

Best deals come after mid-night ?

  • back in stock @ $1,049.99

    • Maybe it was price error.
      128GB is $799 now

      • There's been rumors for a while they will drop the higher storage model to the lower storage price, so maybe it was a test

      • +2

They have been trying different prices. 128GB was $799 then $900+, then back to $799
512GB they tried $1009 for few days, then back to $1049.

The bonus game offer ends on 31st March, but likely they will come up with another bonus offer.

        • Lol maybe its so they could list it as a fake discount and try get some sales for full price?

          It currently says:
          -12%
          $799.99
          RRP: $906.99 RRP:
          $906.99
          for the 128GB model

          • @Vyviel: Official Meta AU site has 128GB at 799.99 as standard price. 512GB is always 1049.99 there.

            • @coprocessor8087: I know I mean on amazon the listing says its at a 12% discount when its at RRP.

  • Would have probably bitten at that price for the extra storage capacity but decision is easy when its back to normal price

  • +1

Once you activated the device, would you be able to gift the Asgard's Wrath 2 game to another account ?

    • +1

Activate the device on the account you want to own the game. Then logout and login to another account to use the device.

  • Let me know if anyone who grabbed one changes their mind, would buy it off ya. :)

    • ……"As with every leak, we should apply a certain level of caution before taking it at face value".

    • I pay extra money for colour passthrough, can't go back from that

  • Can someone help me with accepting a referral link from my friend.
They sent link in phone messages, then I clicked on it the it, then it opens the Meta app to link a Quest device.

Am I supposed to get a pop-up showing the referral as I cannot find it anywhere in the menu's.

Or do I link the Quest device and it will automatically credit the meta account?

    Thanks Ozbargainers

    • I never managed to get that working. There's lots of complaints about it.

I just gave up on it.

  • If this is OOS, imagine how quickly will (money) go for Apple's version :(7x more expensive)

    • This comment makes no sense

  • +1

Update.. I opened a different browser (Firefox) and pasted the link then it worked.

  • +1

Ugh! Expensive apps for an expensive unit. Missed the simpler days of the once great and very affordable Samsung Gear VR and its equally affordable apps galore. Ahhh…..

Samsung, please come back and show the upstarts how it's done.

    • No thanks. I don’t want another note 7 incident on my face 🤣

    • -1

I miss that too. Now the screens are flat again with insane peak brightnesses and processing power. The only limitation is that they can sell a more expensive decide if they go with a standalone.

You can still have stream games to quest from PC.

      • I really wanna buy the Quest 2, but the games are so effing freaking expensive. Majority of games starting from $46.99? YIKES! I suppose this is fine for folks who really are knee-deep into this VR bullcrap, but for casual users out there who wants to dip their toes every now and then? Mmm, dunno.

There's a helpful guide/article over on Reddit on how to restart in using the Gear VR again in this day and age and methinks its time to dust off the ever-reliable and trusty Gear} and get it out of retirement. 😊

Also Skybox used to be free and now its $15? Really been out of the VR scene for quite sometime now. Whew!

    • What? hope this is a joke post, that unit is absolute ****

  • -1

    back in stock!………………. at $1,049.99

  • damn, missed it, anyone get theirs yet?

    • +1

arriving today - others would have got yesterday

  • Received mine but as it's a gift can I claim the free game before it expires on the Quest 2?

  • I have a Meta Quest 2.

Anyone in Brisbane with a Meta Quest 3 let me try it out to see if it's worth the upgrade over Meta Quest 2?

  • I bought Meta Quest 3 secondhand.

Now I need a third party case for it. Any recommendations?
