When will we get Ozbargain referral links?

    • +7

      Maybe April 1st next year.

      • not 29th Feb next year?

    Looks great.

Not sure if this is an issue but just added my referrals from Dropbox, Uber & OzForex. They automatically copy the full URL to the clipboard, so I had to paste link then remove most of the URL. I'm wondering if we can have a box that allows full URL or referral code? e.g. https://uber.com/go/test1234 or test1234

  • Need to add AMEX which is a specific URL.

  • Looks promising. Well done scotty and team.

I can understand the reasoning behind the OP referral link but it'll just end up being a mad race for a new deal post every time Vinomofo releases a new wine! :)

I would personally recommend a rule that you cannot add any referral text/reminders/etc in the body of the deal. It's redundant and the potential for begging comes out again.

Are there any thoughts around what happens while this is in beta? Only people opting in to Beta will see this for now.

    • Initially I was planning to release it for beta — it has actually been sitting in beta since last week. However as of this morning we are releasing this to all users because I think it would be difficult to have both systems (this & the wiki pages) running in parallel at the same time.

    • Further evidence of why I believe any mention of referrals should be banned from deal content:

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/139720

The poster edited the deal to mention his own referral and URL after he probably realised more people added their own referral codes and the reader had options.

      • For clarity, the OP posted the deal with the referral link at the bottom of the body. See original post

        • Apologies, I stand corrected. However I still think it's double content and should be removed/banned.

  • About time for the randomised referral codes. Thanks scotty.

A good idea to let people pick and choose? For example some people might not want to use OP's referral link, not a random one either but from a list of friends.

If someone want to use friend's referral code, s/he has other ways to get that code, e.g. PM and e-mail. No need to complicate things.

    • .g. PM and e-mail. No need to complicate things.

Too much work imo, If I just want to buy a small thing I don't bother with asking, much easier to go with the forum's top poster's page and then select one of them to receive a benefit.

  • We probably will not support account number as referral code, e.g. Club Telco, Red Energy, etc for privacy concern.

Could link to a create a PM to obtain the account number directly from the referrer.

    • Please update OP to reflect that account numbers are now supported.

  • Nicely integrated Scotty looks great !! I like the randomized referral idea =)

  • So how are people supposed to find referral codes for some 'stores' that haven't had deals in a while?

i.e you removed the dropbox referrals wiki, so people have to search 'dropbox' and find a 'deal' expired or not and dodge deals which may have had 'dropbox' in the title which won't have the referrals and click the randomise thing?

Isn't this a bit counter intuitive?

Wouldn't it also be easier adding another tab called "User Referrals" which will display the stores and the randomise thing you added.

    • Maybe the same block should also appear on store's page? For example random referral link on the Vinomofo page? Because when you do a search for Vinomofo on OzBargain, Related Store should be the first item which would bring you to that page.

      • That would be a good add as well.

  • good - privacy:

hidden/random codes somewhat circumvent referral policies such as uber's

    bad - fairness:

the later one adds their referral code to settings, the less likely it is to be randomly shown/used, due to the larger number of codes available

a list or conga thread shows them all in chronological order and allows comments to thank others

    other issues:

add the list of stores in referral settings to https://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/list_of_referral_links to help inform users as well as avoid new wiki pages being created (perhaps lock the old/obsolete ones from being edited?)

need to update when referral bonus changes

submit bargain referral popup box needs updating (aside: alternative store domain gives error when pops up but can be ignored)

    • Assuming it's been applied as truly random, anyone adding their referral code makings things "worse" for EVERYONE. This is because the odds of randomly being chosen diminish. e.g. 50 people. 1 in 50 chance. 51 people. 1 in 51 chance.

The whole system was introduced to remove the wikis/lists, since they were hard to manage and people started begging for their referral to be used.

Under the new system, you see a list of all possible stores in your settings.

exactly - everyone has the same chance but that chance becomes smaller as more people add their referral code

The whole system was introduced to remove the wikis/lists, since they were hard to manage and people started begging for their referral to be used.

hence why some forums use conga threads so that referrer should hopefully gain a referee

Under the new system, you see a list of all possible stores in your settings.

but not all referrals are there hence https://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/list_of_referral_links which should have a list of all referral stores for completeness

    • Cache inconsistency. I will need to look at out after i get back home later tonight. As well as adding more referral sites — please list them here in the comments + helpful description if possible so I don't need to sign up an account myself to investigate.

      • btw the random referral links work, just not the op's

        • Yes the random referral link works really well, I would be happy just for one link to the random and ditch the op link.

    • Bug found and fixed. Full log of tonight's update will be posted in the Power Users forum soon.

    Updates 11 April 2014

Some new features just got added:

    • Referral block also appears on the store page so you don't need to go and find a deal to find the referral link. Thanks kangaberries.

    • Due to a json library bug OP's referral link sometimes gives back 404. It should hopefully be fixed now. Thanks tonester.

    • A simple stats has been added to each of your referral link, showing (1) how many clicks it made, and (2) when was the last time someone clicked on your referral link.

    • Thanks scotty. Does the stats cover just your direct link (OP) or the random link clicks too?

      • Random as well.

  • Awesome feature. Would like to see a 'random' that might rule you out of the pool for a set amount of time or completely until everyone has had a chance to share some of the referral love rather than potentially have some miss out and some double up. I'm trying to add my own referral link for winomofo but the link I get from the site starts with http://u20364.sendgrid.org/wf/click?upn=qR12Dlp7oM6tgWkwWycY……….(NOTE: I have truncated the link - i'm not expecting it to be clicked here). Anyone know how you get your actual referral code??

    • try emailing yourself a referral? :)

      • Tried that and that is where the link format above came from. I didn't try twitter and have now updated. thanks

    • +1

Click on any of the sharing links to retrieve the referral ID.

For me I click on Twitter (assuming you have a Twitter account). Click on the Tweet! blue button, and it would popup a Twitter share-a-link window. You will see see your referral link there. Just copy down the alphanumerics after /signup/ and that would be it.

  • +4

Another issue we have discovered is that people have been creating ghost accounts to submit multiple referral codes, or multiple previously undetected ghost accounts submitting the same referral code.

We will be checking our system regularly to make sure this kind of thing doesn't happen. Again ghost account gets permanet ban straight away. Banned users will never get their referral code into the random pool. We will also investigate on offending referral code to get them black listed in our system.

  • Delivery Hero does not seem to be working - "This campaign has expired." when clicking on a referral link from a deal page.

    • Yeah couldn't work out what their new program is either. I'm turning off Delivery Hero referral links for now.

  • I guys, when I added my amaysim referral link to my account's settings, I noticed that another amaysim referral link (not mine) was already there.
Was it an "example" one, or all users that posted in the Amaysim Wiki got a default referral code?
    Or what else?

EDIT: the id i found in my account was automatically transferred from the wiki page. problem is that it had been edited by someone in the wiki page, so it was the wrong one. all clear!

  • How about goCatch? I've just been issues a referral code by them, and anyone can obtain one by messaging them on Facebook.

    • Codes are for limited use - only 3 at present

      • Could still be useful to use them up. Not sure how you would set that up though, they'd have to expire or something.

      • Yes that makes implementing a referral system a bit difficult.

    • Could we have another look at goCatch? None of the correspondence I've received from goCatch suggests a limit to the number of times my referral code can be used. Thanks!

      • GoCatch only has codes like XXXXX and not links so you have to open up the app on your phone and manually enter the code. See GoCatch Referral Wiki

There's an update this morning on the referral system. Now if the deal was posted by an L or a P-plated poster, his/her referral link will not be shown inside the referral block, which is more inlined with our referral link posting guidelines. For example those L/P posts in Vinomofo deals will only have "random" referral links but no OP's.

    • Are L and P plater referrals excluded from being chosen at random?

      • Not at the moment. That's a bit more computational intensive so I deliberately left it out (as L/P plate is not based on user account's creation date but first posting date). I'll collect more stats in the next couple of weeks to see whether we should pursuit it.

  • Possible improvement suggestion: Split referral links (Clicks) into Direct and Random - this information would be interesting to know! :)

  • Perhaps Referral Link Posting Limit needs to be reviewed as it applies to the older Referrer tag but not this newer system?

Posting this deal gave me a 1/wk limit but this deal generated no restriction.

Also Uber referral credit is now back to $10.

    • See my original post:

Since you do not really need to put referral link in your content, you can submit deals with your link in the referral box without the deal being marked as "referral post". This might lead to abuse of people posting excessive deals from the stores offering referral.

However from the look of it I think it might actually be a good idea to automatically flag those deals as "Referral" if you have a referral code for that merchant in the system.

      • considering this deal comment and your reply above as well as

Since you do not really need to put referral link in your content, you can submit deals with your link in the referral box without the deal being marked as "referral post". This might lead to abuse of people posting excessive deals from the stores offering referral. I shall look at ways to prevent it.

i suggest that the Referral Link Posting Limit now be applied to vinomofo

        • i suggest that the Referral Link Posting Limit now be applied to vinomofo

At the very least, some combining of deals would be appreciated.

  • How do I add a referral link? eg DropBox?

    • +1

Go to "My Account / Settings / Referrals" and click to drop down whichever one you want to set up.

      • Awesome! Thanks foobar!

  • Can we add Reship.com to the referral scheme.

    I posted the deal here : https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/144374

$10 shipping credit bonus for both referer and referee.

Here's mine - this is the format it takes : <MOD> - Removed referral link.

    • +1

Done. Now it's open for registration.

  • Please add Lastpass to the referral:

    • +2

      Done!

  • Hi,
Can we have betterbills.com.au as referral:

The URL format for the referral link
    https://curebit.com/x/xxxxxx - where xxxxxx is a alpha-numeric code, e.g. mine is http://curebit.com/x/1O6hbY

Instructions to get the referral link
Visit http://www.betterbills.com/share and enter your email and unique link will appear. At the moment you can generate and refer friends even if you are not betterbills customer but they are changing it and will allow only members to refer friends.

Benefit for the referrers and referees.
Referrer and referee both get $50 each when referee completes health insurance shopping via betterbuys and $20 each to buy electricity/gas via betterbills..

    • There has only been 1 deal ever posted for betterbills and wasn't very popular.

      • Thats true. I have checked their website and they are not running any promotion which can be posted as deal. But should we not keep this in referral section?

    • BetterBills should be available now in your referral section.

      • Thanks mods.

  • I followed an ozforex link and signed up, now the guys at ozforex are asking me for the username of the link I followed so they can process my referral because I guess following the link didn't work.

Any way to get the username of someone who is in the list of referrers?

    • I think knowing who you've been referred by is worthwhile. Then you can followup if necessary.

  • Is Zavvi a candidate for this system or not?

    • On Zavvi's help page:

… include your unique zavvi code. To do this, simply log in to your account by clicking on Your Account in the top right of the screen. Select the "My Rewardz" tab and you will find a short form to complete.

No. I don't see any "short form" when I go to My Rewardz page inside Your Account. Moreover, when you click on Rewardz at the top, it says:

As of Wednesday 26 June 2014, we will no longer be issuing Rewardz points on purchases.

Looks like they are phrasing out the Zavvi rewards system so possibly no more referral?

      • ok, thanks for looking into it.

  • Another update — just added Digital Ocean's referral program where referrer gets $25 account credit if referee used up $25 in billing.

  • Can I suggest Airbnb?

    From here:

Earn $25 when your friend completes a qualifying reservation as a guest
Earn $75 when your friend completes a qualifying reservation as a host

    • I was in the middle of activating it however when I looked at their terms and conditions:

You agree not to publish or distribute the link, or cause the link to be published or distributed, on or via methods, platforms and media where you have no reasonable basis for believing that all or most of the readers or recipients are your personal friends (such as coupon websites, Reddit, Wikipedia).

In this case quirki would have violated Airbnb's T&C. I haven't checked other referral programs' terms but would that be a concern?

  • Can we add airbnb to the list?

  • Looks like Catch of the Day should be added to the list…

The URL format for the referral link
    https://www.catchoftheday.com.au/register?ref=xxxxxxxxx

Instructions to get the referral link
Click the link to register for an account

Benefit for the referrers and referees.
"When you get your friends signed up to CatchOfTheDay.com.au via the referral link below, they’ll get a bonus $10 store credit after they make their first purchase! You’ll then be rewarded with your own $10 store credit! Too easy! And the more friends you refer, the more store credit you receive, so start spreading the word!"

    • I will look into it.

    • +1

Catch Of The Day is now available for referrals.

  • It looks to me like people do not like or use random referrals.
I got three vinomofo referrals in a short time (so free case) before it went random, and zero in the long time since.

Is that just me? Scotty, do you have any numbers on the uptake of randomised referrals?

    • Sorry we don't really have any stats on that.

    • According to the shop page there are 170 referrers so the chances are pretty slim now, I think. Not that many clickthroughs…

  • Yatango Referrals are now uniquely generated.

It would seem that all the previous referral links stored on Ozbargain are no longer valid.
Yatango have changed to a system that generates a unique link with each referral request. I got onto the via chat and they said that the old links are no longer valid and that they have no static links. The person I was chatting with seems to only know some of the story so I would take his answers as probable but not gospel.
They didn't send out any communication about this that I have seen.

    • I have to disable the Yatango referral links for now as the site is now yatango.com.au (instead of yatangomobile.com.au), and I believe a lot might have changed merging with MobiCity.

      • OK thanks Scotty.
Wow, they could have done a group email. Sheesh!
        Cheers.

        • i still have a static referral link when i login into my account ??

  • I have personal referral code for swiftly.com (get designs done for $19). Basically it gives a free task for person creating the task. It also then gives me another free task.
Just seeing if it is cool to post it on ozbargain? Its a win win for everyone. They get free and I get free for each of them :)

  • Could you please add Kleenheat to the available referrals? Details are:

    URL Format: http://www.kleenheatng.com.au/sign-up/promo/xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Instructions to get referral link: Search your email with the keywords "Kleenheat" and "refer". They frequently send out emails with a referral link.
Benefit for referees: $50 credit off their first bill
Benefit for referrers: Discount increases from 10% to 20% off the standard tariff (for two years)

    • Thanks. It should be available now in your referral area.

      • Wow, impressed with the quick service on a weekend :)
        Thanks for setting that up.

        • I wish it's already the weekend :)

        • @scotty: oops, got my weekday messed up again. Being on leave does that to me. It was after-hours anyway :)

  • TuShare referral add please! :-P

    URL Format:
    https://www.tushare.com/invitation/xxxxxxxxxxxxx

    Instructions to get referral link:
Visit https://www.tushare.com/ and look for the "Earn free credit" link in the left hand side of the page near "Delivery credit.

    Benefit for referees:
    None

    Benefit for referrers:
For the first 20 people who sign up to TuShare using your unique link, you get $1 deposited into your account to use for delivery.

  • Airbnb please

    Format www.airbnb.com.au/ c/XXX
Instructions to get referral link: Navigate to Dashboard https://www.airbnb.com.au/home/dashboard to obtain referral link
Benefit for referees: Sign up using a valid referral code (or by clicking on a valid referral link) from an existing Airbnb user and you’ll receive a coupon credit for $29 AUD (or its equivalent in your local currency*, if we support it) for use toward your next qualifying reservation on Airbnb.
Benefit for referrers: You will receive $29 AUD travel credit after your referral's qualifying reservation > $75 has taken place

    • See above

    • I wonder whether by actually hiding the referral block from guest users would be "good enough" as they aren't publicly published and don't get indexed by the search engines.

    • Well looks like community wants to take the matter in their own hands. Creating a publicly visible list would be even worse where Airbnb can get a visible list of referrers to purge from their program for violating the T&C.

      • So are you saying Scotty that that list isn't officially sanctioned? And that it IS publicly visible?

        • It is — it's a wiki page everyone can see that page including search engines.

    • -2

already posted above, terms are very strict.

  • Can OzSale be added to the Referral Links page please.

There's already a wiki page for some of these https://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/ozsale_referral_links

    • +1

Added now. I'll be migrating the existing referral over and then remove the page.

  • +1

    What happened to Delivery Hero?
Did it used to be the old broken system, because there's a new one now - hope it works!

    URL Format:
    http://deliveryhero.refr.cc/DT8JSSG

    Instructions:
    Go to http://deliveryhero.referralcandy.com
    Enter e-mail (and optional name)
You then get FB, Twitter, e-mail and URL links

    Benefit:
$7 each (for first order, >$20.)

  • FIXME - Need more information
    http://i.imgur.com/Hp6xyZj.jpg

  • really good idea.

  • Aston Club also has a referral system in place - $10 for each

    • Good one. Keep in mind, you can either use a referral or a signup codes but not both. I think the individual venue codes (e.g. for existing members) can be used with referral codes.

  • Is G2A.com a suitable website referral candidate?

The "Goldmine" program details can be found at: https://www.g2a.com/goldmine

Reflink seems to be in a https://www.g2a.com/r/xxx format.

  • Just wondering whether G2A.com would be a suitable referral link addition?

Details regarding the program can be found at: https://www.g2a.com/goldmine

An example of the base referral link (with added spaces purely for illustration) is as follows: https: // www.g2a.com /r/ ***

  • +1

    Please add goCatch.

    • How do you actually get your goCatch referral code? I am not familiar with goCatch — couldn't even find the sign up link on their website.

      • Referral codes are emailed direct to users and also obtainable from within the app once signed-up.
        Sign-up through the app.
PM me for a $10 credit.

  • Could Groupon be added?
    http://www.groupon.com.au/recommendation

"On your Personal Recommendation Page you can find your personal reference link, which you can post anywhere on the internet to get people to join up."

    • Groupon has been added, see here

      • Referral page no longer exists on Groupon. Please check.

        • Thanks. That's been disabled.

  • Can you add wordery.com to the referral link list?

Referral link is obtained from https://wordery.com/spread-the-wordery

URL is of the form https://wordery.com/s/ex3YAk

    5% referral discount

    • Wordery is now available for user-referral.

    • Wordery has now been disabled as there are is no referrers in the system.

  • Would it be possible to add Amino Z to the referrals?

    Link: http://www.aminoz.com.au/rewardpointsreferfriends/refer/inde…

"Refer and earn 5% of your friends purchases!
For every new customer that you refer to us, you'll receive 5% of their purchases as credit for your next order! Plus, give them a $5 discount coupon to get them started!"

    • FYI scotty has added Amino Z to the referral system yesterday. Existing codes were copied over from the wiki, apart from a couple that were invalid (probably typos). Click on the edit button here to check/add your Amino Z code.

      Thanks

  • Is there a way Click Energy can be added? It requires the existing subscriber to fill in a online form.

Mates Rates from Click Energy lets you refer a friend, family member or neighbour. Simply fill in this form and start them on their way to becoming a Click Energy customer; just like you.
Once they become a billable Click customer, you’ll get $50 off your next bill and they’ll get a $50 sign up rebate*. Everyone’s a winner with Mates Rates from Click Energy.

  • Ozforex seems to have changed

    new format - http://refer.ozforex.com.au/v2/share/6090589932893544534

can supply email etc as needed

    • Yeah such a pain that means all the existing referral IDs can't be used.

  • Can we add thehome.com.au?

    • The URL format for the referral link: http://thehome.com.au/r/uu12345678 (number of digits varies)

    • Instructions to get the referral link: http://thehome.com.au/referral (or click "Invite Friends, get $10!" in the page banner)

    • Benefit for the referrers and referees: referee gets nothing. Referrer gets $10 in credit valid for 3 months if the referee purchases within 72 hours of subscribing without using a promo code or credit. The more "friends" you accumulate the more credit is awarded: 10 friends-$20, 25-$60, 50-$140, 100-$300.

    • I was just going to post about thehome but looks like alvian's was unpublished (just republished).

      Someone has started a wiki.

    • thehome.com.au has been added.

  • Powershop please be added:

Refer friends and family to Powershop – $75 credit for each person that joins.
$75 for you and $75 for them.

Instructions to get the referral link

    • Naked Wines has been added to the referral system as well.

      • Thanks Scotty.

I just went to add referral link and get and error:-

  • Copy.com

5GB each for the referee and the referrer.

There is a current copy.com referral wiki.

    • Wiki removed & data copied to user-referral system. One problem is that there's a referral limit of 5. Once it's reached the referrer can no longer get bonus storage, and it is advised to have his/her code taken off. This has to be done manually.

Can you please modify the iHerb referral to include referee gets rewarded 6% from iherb for each successful order

  • Just got a $7 off referral link for Delivery hero. Hoping to post it here. But not sure when will Delivery Hero will be added again …. ?

    • Yeah I have a few back logged ones to do and will try to add them this long weekend.

      • ok Thanks

    • Delivery Hero Referral is now available.

  • Can PinchMe referrals be added? Their free samples crop up here a lot.

    http://pinchme.com.au/refer-a-friend

    • We strongly discourage posting pinchme.com.au referral links as it is against their terms of use. As you can see in this deal, they have disabled users accounts who have posted their referral links. Not worth the risk for referral points that are worthless for most :) That company actively monitor this and other forums very closely.

      • Fair enough, thanks for the feedback!

  • Please add Rebtel.

Referral is in the format: http://reb.tl/19byeJH

    You get
    $10.00

    They get
    $5.00

For every invitee that adds credit.

    • Rebtel referral is now available on OzBargain.

  • Can you add petbucket.com referrals please?

    URL of the form http://curebit.com/x/YIbTCh

To get the referral link, buy something from petbucket. The link comes up after checkout.

10% off for both referrer and referree

    • There isn't even any deal related to petbucket.com.

      • Also the website/product is of questionable legitimacy.

        • Really? Why? I've had no problem buying dog flea/tick stuff from them. They're the cheapest I found.

        • @brazen00: They are purported too cheap and thus people believe their products are fakes.

Also their Australian address is a residential property. The website detects the region and updates the phone number/etc worldwide.

        • @Lukian: Interesting. Wonder how to tell if dog flea/tick stuff is fake or not.

They definitely ship from international locations - I believe it came from Singapore.

  • Hi moderator,
Just asking if possible to add PEET DEVELOPER (those looking for buying and building) where referral get 2x$500 Myer/Coles giftcard. (Sharing, of course)

Since I am living in Vic, the lists are
MELBOURNE NORTH:ARENA ROXBURGH PARK, ASPECT GREENVALEASTON, CRAIGIEBURN

MELBOURNE SOUTH EAST:CARDINIA LAKES, LIVINGSTON, QUARTERS

MELBOURNE WEST:PEET LIMITED KINGSFORD, TARNEIT NO 87, WILLANDRA

Basically, each place has its own website referral, but the pdf form is the same.

    Here is one:
    http://livingstoncranbourne.com.au/livingston/media/PDF-s/Re…

If its not possible, then ignore
    Thanks

    • This type of referral won't be possible, requires the other persons full details (name address phone number etc) & not done online or through OzBargain deals.

  • UnblockUS, now with all the interest from the launch of Aussie Netflix!

    URL Format:
    http://www.unblock-us.com/xxxxx.html

    Instructions to get referral link:
Log in to your account, go to My Account and click "Manage my affiliate account" link

    Benefit for referees:
    None

    Benefit for referrers:
    CA$5 for each referral

    • Looks like that one is an affiliate program sorry, we only allow referral programs not affiliate links

      • Thanks for going back and responding to all the outstanding ones! Much appreciated.

  • What about 9web? They have a referral program. Webhosting, domains etc..

It works via a URL like https://www.9web.com.au/aff.php?aff=024, once clicked on by a user, our site will log their IP and any Professional or Business hosting plans purchased by them will be logged by our system and will result in a recurring commission of 30% for you. For example, if client A clicks on your affiliate link then purchases Professional hosting for one year (currently $24/yr) you will receive $7.20 every time they renew it, starting from when they initially purchased it.

    Benefit for referees:
    None (that I can see)

    Benefit for referrers:
    30% for each referral

    • That one looks like an affiliate program which we don't allow. Do you know if the commission paid in real money or site credit? I couldn't find an answer in that link.

      • In an email I got from them it says "We now have a referral program which you can use to earn money by refering friends/family/clients to our service."

Other than that i'm not sure. I'll shoot them a email and find out.

      • Got a reply and it translates into cash. Sorry, I should of done a bit more more research before posting here.

        • No probs at all, thanks for checking.

  • Could we please add a Paula's Choice referral code page?

    Website: http://www.paulaschoice.com.au/

    Refer-a-friend: https://www.paulaschoice.com.au/refer-a-friend

If you refer someone and they use your link to make a purchase, you get a $15 credit on your account. They get $15 off their first purchase. You just go to the website -> log in to your account -> go to my account / refer-a-friend -> click 'copy invite link' -> the code is now copied and you can share the URL.

This is the format of my referral link: http://goo.gl/J62f2i

Just an update on posting referral links on OzBargain. Now we allow referral links for Group Buy sites, and have added Groupon to the user-referral system.

The previous ruling on not allowing group buy sites referral was from probably 4-5 years ago when OzBargain got swarmed by the group buy site deals back then. There were probably 20+ different group buy / voucher sites in Australia and back then we did not have referral link checker to automatically throttle referral posters. Now there are probably only 4-5 big players left, and with user-referral system + referral posting limit I think allowing group buy sites referral would be less a problem.

    • I think Groupon referral link is not working. It needs to be an active deal link, not an ended or sold-out deal, which means it needs to be updated from time to time. That is my thinking based on some referral credits I earned.

      • The active deal link has an additional part at the end of the URL. It still works without it for sign-ups.

        • Ok,I might be wrong. If someone can confirm he gets referral here, that'll be helpful.

        • @Neoika: we set up the Groupon referral due to "popular demand" however I don't know why anyone wants it, as referees actually don't get anything. Much better to use cash back.

        • @scotty:
I know I've asked for someone's referral code once as a thanks for the deal. Depends if you feel like spreading some good karma for a deal you might've missed otherwise :)

    • Seems that there is no referral system on Groupon anymore.

    • Done.

      • Thank you!

        • I've been told by DealsDirect that they're not honouring the referrals as the promotion apparently 'expired'.

    • We have recently received a report from someone who contacted DealsDirect, and they said the referral program has already expired and it would no longer give out credits. Therefore I am turning it off now.

  • Please can we add Weebly - to create a website, blog or online store

The format of the referral code is http://www.weebly.com/link/XXXXXXX where XXXXXX is the referrer's referral code.

If the person referred signs up and publishes a page on Weebly, they and the referrer both get $10 credit that can be applied to any premium plan

    • weebly.com is banned on OzBargain unfortunately due to excessive spamming which I don't see changing soon - so won't be able to consider this one sorry.

      Thanks

      • Thanks. Sorry to hear that. I am a happy Weebly customer who has personally referred friends who are happy with Weebly too. They don't spam me personally.

  • Can you please add PetCircle? The format of the code is:
https://www.petcircle.com.au/invite/XXXXXXX where XXXXXXX is the referral code.

  • Can you please add Belong? The format of the code is:
https://www.belong.com.au/?promocode=XXXXXXXXX where XXXXXXXXX is the referral code.
"Once their service has been activated you’ll receive $20 off your next monthly payment for each friend that joins Belong, and each friend will also receive $20 off their first monthly payment."

    • Second that for Belong

  • Could you please add BeatTheQ.

1 free coffee for the referrer once the referee purchases and 25% off for the next 7 days for the referees.

Referrer codes are sent out via e-mail from BeatTheQ in the format https://app.beattheq.com/register/xxxxxxx

    More codes at: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/beattheq_referral_links

  • Please allow Topcashback.com Referral!

    • +1

      It is already available.

  • Can you add AppSumo?

Earn $10 credit when a friend buys their first deal

  • Could we please add a Virgin Moblie referral code page?

    Website: http://www.virginmobile.com.au/refer/

    Refer-a-friend: http://www.virginmobile.com.au/refer/ #mobile number

ALREADY WITH US? REFER A FRIEND TODAY

To refer a friend today, just pass on this page to them and we'll get your people talking to our people. Talk about friends with benefits!

Just fill out this form and we’ll let you know the next steps to getting bonus credit.

    • One problem with this would be collecting the phone number, which I would consider a more private information (comparing to say, a referral ID). Probably not something that OzBargain would want to collect.

  • Can Cudo be added to the referral lists?
    Generic link is
    http://cudo.com.au/r/uu########

    • Cudo has now been added.

  • I just got banned from groupon because the three people who used my referral link was suspicious!
I will post updates as i get them but my last post didn't break the rules here or on groupon so IDFK why they would ban me!
1671 clicks to their website and for that revenue i get banned!

    • +1

Strangely enough I only got 1 referral click from that Woolworths deal, and yeah that 1 referral credit is on a delayed status.

      • I called them today and said its BS we are giving them free marketing and being punished.
48hrs and they're going to respond.
        So i'm told

        • So they responded, they wanted a copy of my photo ID front and back, and all the 3 people that used the link to do the same before they will give me the $30 credit.
I Gave them mine but said I can't get real names from ozbargain, so they responded, well you wont get the credits then because they are not your "friends" .

I explained my brother who referred me is a brother not a friend.. Silence… Then he said in this case its out of their hands and to speak to ozbargain to get those ID's.
I will never again post a deal for them.

        • @ozy: well honestly that's one problem with the referral system here. If Groupon didn't have referral in the first place would you still post the deals for them?

        • @ozy:

Interesting story. You must have been one of the first to put your code in the referral system to get 3 referrals. There are currently 238 in the system. As a baseline mine has been clicked twice with 0 referrals. How many clicks do you have? (You can check in My Account - Referrals).

I suspect they detected your link clicked an unusual amount of times. Interested to see if anyone else has similar issues.

EDIT: Ah. Ignore the above. I see you posted a deal where your link was publicly visible and still is.

        • @neil:

Yeah well from this deal according to Groupon I've only had 1 referral sign up and purchase. I know the clicks were going up over the course of the day. Whether they were new to Groupon or not I have no idea.

That said, with that deal I logged into my Groupon account and had $130 worth of referral credit from previous deals that I didn't realise. But unfortunately it now seems they're just viewing referrals suspiciously. Not sure why, considering that the referral needs to actually purchase the deal in order for the referrer to get $10. So it would be interesting to see how many clicked my link that day and spent $150 or so, and Groupon can't even flick me $10

        • @scotty: yes I would have/did , post the deal without it, and only later realised about the $10 referrers deal so looked up the OZB rules and added it.

Like I said, I just won't be posting deals for them in future. No biggy.
And props to such a great site you have! Wish I knew how you did it so i could make one for another idea I have (not deals)

  • Hi Scotty

Is 'bang good' not part of referrals?

    Cheers

    • From Banggood's Refer A Friend, it seems to leak referrer's email address.

      • Thanks for that. Didn't realise it.

      • I just tried adding in BangGood's referral program which has been updated to only show user ids on registering and not the email address. However Ozbargain system automatically detected referral id and unpublished the comment.

        Please add it in.

  • Please add referral links for CurrencyFair.
Edit - Referrer and referee each get a free transfer

    • Generally if a store doesn't have any deals posted on OzBargain we won't consider them as there is no benefit in having the referral system on the most part without deal posts. We don't want to add every referral program, just ones relevant to our members. Should deal posts begin for this site we can certainly reconsider it though. Thanks!

      • Hi - Can OzB reconsider CurrencyFair.
Referers and Referees now receive free transfer and 15 Euros.
        "
When your friend uses CurrencyFair, you'll both get €15 and a free transfer added to your accounts!
        "

        Got to be a bargain…!?

        Referral Link looks like this:
        https://www.currencyfair.com/?channel=XXXXXX

        • But again, no one has posted a deal for them

    • Dacs, can you send me your referral so I can get my first transfer free? Thanks!

      • Done. I'm happy to refer anyone else who needs it.

  • Please add AwardWallet.
Referee gets premium upgrade for 6 months. Referrer gets an upgrade after 5 people have signed up using that referral code.

    • Yeah same thing with this one and I don't think that's the type of site that would be posted on OzBargain at all. No deals posted. Thanks

  • Just added BitGold to the randomised system. Currently Australian referrers and referees can get 0.5g of gold each. BitGold is a listed company in Canada and allows you to pay for goods or services using gold that they have reserved.

    Received an email:

I was earlier trying out the delivery hero referral code $7 off thing they have going but when I tried to click through a few times I noticed that it came up as the links were expired. I have since ordered and got a code myself and noticed that they have an expiry of about a month, is it possible for you to change it so that the codes are removed after a certain amount of time so people don't have to click through and hope they get an unexpired one? I noticed theres over 400 in the system.

Maybe we'll start implementing auto-expiry on some of the referrals here for cases here?

    • Yes please expire delivery hero referral codes that are more than a month old or parse their website to see if it's expired. You could even regenerate the referral codes each month so users don't have to do it themselves. Either that or just drop delivery hero from the referral system, it's stupid that they expire codes, don't they want referrals?

  • It would be helpful if we knew someone used my referral, just so I can check if I got a credit/bonus for a site, otherwise it may expire not knowing I had it,
    it would be so helpful.

    • Unfortunately someone clicked is different from someone used it. We only track how many clicks your referral link is getting, but unable to track whether the person clicked through actually signs up an account.

      • Just to know if my referral was clicked, that's all,
'A Ozbarginer has clicked your referral for *****',
I know its up to the user if they follow through or not, thats fine,
Then I could check if I got a bonus or not,
I'm sure Ozbarginers have missed out on bonus money not knowing their link was used,
That's against everything Ozbargin stands for !!!
        Knowledge is power,
        I live in hope.

          This info is already there.

  • Please add GoCatch. Many deals on here.

    • GoCatch only have codes not links.

      • indeed, sorry I should have read harder. The title does have the word "code" in it though ;)

  • Guys
For Amaysim, should I click on referral once buying a sim or when I want to activate my sim?

    • +1

      Buying.

However, you may want to check out the cashback deals as you may be better off depending on what service you are signing up for.

      • But once I use a random referred link, this page ( http://imgur.com/bhQIkDE ) comes up and then if I choose "show me the plan", the link is changing and the refer code doesn't exist any more in address bar . Is referral still working if I use the same tab of explorer?

        • It should put a cookie in your system to detect the referral.

  • A request! Getflix has just started up an affiliate program :)

    • Affiliate programs are not allowed on OzBargain. For one thing it requires you to advertise on your own website.

This post is for "refer a friend" style referral programs.

      • Sorry, scotty - bit of a derp there. Didn't realise there was a distinction between referral and affiliate links. I do now!

  • Please add Teabox :)
    URL: http://www.teabox.com/refer-a-friend
Benefit for referee: $34 AUD voucher
Benefit for referrer: $34AUD off first order

Sorry not sure if I've done this right. I've just received my first teabox and it's divine, want to get some more :)

  • Could you also add the URL parameter for Rebtel starting with w.reb.tel
    Mine was showing
    http://w.reb.tl/ (referral code)

    • It's now fixed. Unfortunately rebtel changed their referral pattern and the those who put in their referral code that does not start with k6.c. are removed.

  • Not sure if mentioned before but looks like living social now has a referral deal. For each friend you refer, you get $5 credit when they make a purchase.
    http://livingsocial.com.au/referral

    No bonus for referee

Referral link is in the form: http://livingsocial.com.au/r/uu1234567

    • Yes we'll be looking at LivingSocial. They have been sold to AussieCommerce earlier this year and is changing a few things.

    • +1

LivingSocial Australia's referral is now ready.

  • Winemarket is now providing referrals… just received an email with referral link in the form: https://promo.winemarket.com.au/winemarket-shout-your-mates?… (where 123456 is the unique referral code).

Details from the email are below…

    Turn friendships into free wine!

Share the link below, we'll shout your mates $25 WineMarket spending money, and for every $50 they spend, you rack up $5 for yourself!

You know how good our deals are, let your mates in on the (delicious) secret and earn up to $500 for yourself. Win–win! Earn credit up until October 30, then we'll send you a >voucher!

Yes they might tag you on Facebook at the pub when you were supposed to be "having a quiet one," or promise it's "just a couple of boxes" to move, but treat 'em anyway!

Mod - can this be added to the list of stores offering referrals?

    • Is the referral link only received in email and can't be retrieve from WineMarket's website?

      • It was emailed to me as a current WineMarket customer. I don't think you can retrieve it from WM's website.

  • Please update https://www.ozbargain.com.au/deals/deliveryhero.com.au , they changed the referral reward to 10% off instead of $7 off.

    http://deliveryhero.referralcandy.com/

They email you the 10% off code after someone orders using your referral code. The referral codes expire after one month but you can generate a new one.

    • Done. That makes the new referral offer worse than what was before though.

      • I agree, most of my orders are well below $30. I've only ever ordered from DH when I can get at least $10 off. First time users are better off using the eat10 code to get $10 off.

The random list is full of many expired referral links.

      • Should we maybe scrap dh referral links because of the 1 month validity?

        • +1

We are pushing out an update this week where we can set the expiry date for the referrals. For example code will be removed after a month + sending a notification. It would be useful for DH and the current ING Direct referral.

  • Please add Hey You Beat the Q:

    URL: http://www.beattheq.com/register/xxxxxxxx
Benefit for referee: (Free coffee after your first purchase, I think? I missed the message…)
Benefit for referrer: free coffee after referee makes their first order

    • How does one get the unique referral ID?

      • Sorry, by signing up to the app and going to the refer a friend/cafe tab in the menu.

        • Alright. BeatTheQ has been added.

        • @scotty:

The referrals are via beattheq.com (their old name/app).
Their new app and website is HeyYou.com.au

So I guess the referrals should show on both domains?

        • @neil: I can set up the referral twice but people would have to put into two difference places. Maybe one store should be merged with another one?

        • @scotty:

For what it's worth, the "new" (current) app still shows the old domain in the referral page. Their heyyou.com domain still says "new website coming soon" and just tells users to "Continue to Beat The Q"…

So the solution is really just to keep the old domain, but reference both names in the description ("Hey You/Beat The Q").

  • Hi,
First - thanks to the mods for doing this - it's great for everyone!

I have a few questions/suggestions (so hopefully this is the right place)
    1) Any way to know which user used one of your links?
Be great to be able to say thanks (assuming they go on to meet the requirements for the referral link to benefit you)
    2) Any way to get an automatic message/notification when a link is used?
(I know about the updates in the details/edit/referrals page, but an automated notification if your code got used would be more user friendly)
    3) Are the referral links (random list) ever checked/refreshed - Basically what I mean is are dormant user accounts removed from the referral lists?

    Thanks again

  • Ratesetter have referral links between Sep 29 and Dec 31 for the first 1,000 referrals.

    https://www.ratesetter.com.au/referral_landing.aspx

The reward is $25 to the new member and $25 to the referrer.

I have two accounts with links if anyone is interested in signing up. Let me know.
    Cheers, Joel.

    • There's actually no deal from RateSetter on OzBargain — maybe people aren't interested at all?

      • I guess I'll try posting the $25 bonus as a deal. See if there is any interest.
They didn't really advertise it well, found it in a sub-link in my account.

  • +1

Groupon Australia has changed their referral system. Unfortunately there's no way to migrate the old referral ID to the new, therefore all the existing referral codes are purged. Please go to OzBargain's Groupon page now to put in your new referral ID.

  • Massdrop seems to have a referral system where it only benefits the referrer.
You get different tiers for number of friends who've joined using your referral link and bought something from them, they send you a giftbox according to the tiers.

    https://www.massdrop.com/r/******
or if it is within the deal:
    https://www.massdrop.com/buy/meelectronics-mee-what-exclusiv…

I am not sure whether follows OzBargain guidelines, but when I posted a deal this morning, it didn't pick up that it's referral.
Also, I am assuming this is something new, since this was the first time I had emails on referral from Massdrop.

  • I noticed that Cudo and LivingSocial (and a bunch of others) have a shared referral system. I don't suppose there's a way to have it so that you paste a referral code into one, and have it apply to the other(s)? LOL probably not worth the effort but thought I'd ask anyway.

  • Hi i've been reading this discussion and want to make sure my understanding is clear.
So referral websites need to be put up here first for consideration, i get that bit.
Do we wait until that is approved first before posting a deal?

Also when you post a deal is there a field in which you put in your referral code if you are the first one posting? (rather than account settings)
    Thanks

    • Hi jes,

So referral websites need to be put up here first for consideration, i get that bit.

Referral websites need to be suggested here to be put into the referral system. The referral system is the grey box that displays under a deal, it will display the OPs link (if they've entered their referral code into the system and the deal has reached 5 votes) and a random referral link. Example here

Do we wait until that is approved first before posting a deal?

You can post a deal if it isn't in the referral system, you can still add your referral link to the bottom of the deal (whether it is in the referral system or not). Example here. Guidelines for adding referral links to deals here to see what can and can't be added (don't worry if you make a mistake, a mod can fix it up).

Also when you post a deal is there a field in which you put in your referral code if you are the first one posting?

In regards to the referral system, you need to enter your referral codes here. You can add your referral codes before you post a deal, it will go into the referral randomiser whether you post a deal or not. If you post a deal for a site where your code is in the randomiser, then it will appear first below the deal (once it reaches 5 votes, until then only random links are shown). More info here

      Thanks

  • Are the referrals for Kleenheat broken? I notice the following deal does not show referral links: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/223628

    • It looks like they have changed their domain from kleenheatng.com.au where the referral system was setup to kleenheat.com.au

Are the referral links on your account still the same format? Just without having ng in the domain? If so Scotty should be able to just switch the referrals over to the new domain and we can alias the old kleenheatng.com.au store to kleenheat.com.au

      • I suspect the referral links have changed accordingly. I have not received an email recently with one. Maybe the old referral links still work fine (I expect they do).
I have sent an enquiry to Kleenheat to ask whether the referral URL's are still the same.

        • Fixed up now. Scotty has moved referral system over from kleenheatng.com.au to kleenheat.com.au so it will display on current deal posts —-> https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/223628

          Thanks

        • @hamza23: Thanks for sorting that. I had sent an enquiry to Kleenheat to ask what's up with the domain names, but they never got back to me.

  • I also noticed today when adding a PricePal like the referral format looks different (http://pricep.al/XXX) to the one in the OZB backend not sure if this means they will be ineffective of not.

    • No issues there, that link is the shortened version. If you click on it you will see it expands to the full link which we use in the OzBargain referral system. The shortened URL is mentioned in the description in the referral settings page.

      Thanks

  • Scotty,
Please consider adding Ingogo to the system , so others can add their codes for this deal.

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/224941

    • Looking at the Ingogo referral wiki, there are no links, just codes. At this point, it can't be added into the current system.

  • Can Appsumo referrals be added. (I just bought and have in the past bought items from these guys via ozB post)

Create an account and go to your settings page and select "Find Friends"
"Introduce them to us and earn $10.00 in AppSumo credits when a friend buys their first deal!"

    https://www.appsumo.com/account/findfriends/

Refferal link is in the form of http://www.appsumo.com/?r=XXXXX

  • Oops… forgot to edit the referral link.

Seems Amaysim have changed their referral link to a shortened form:

    http://amaysi.ms/r/xxxxxxx

Not sure if the xxxxxx is the same as the Account ID in the previous system though.

    • Not they are different. However if you follow your link it would then be redirected to the actual referral URL that we use. The problem of going to the new format is that all the existing referral data has to be wiped.

      • Thanks. Maybe include that bit (follow your link) in the instructions?

        EDIT:
        Example text:

Select "Refer a friend" in the menu and choose "link". Copy the link into a web browser and visit the page to get your Account ID.

(Leave the other bits as they are).

  • may i suggest add budgetdirect.com.au refer a buddy program where both partys get a $50 visa card to the list?

We have just been notified that many of our Delivery Hero referral links aren't working. It looks like many have expired. We'll expire all the Delivery Hero referral links that are 90 days or older tomorrow morning.

    • Not only expired, but probably broken? Just tried entering my email address into the link and it just wraps back to the same page instead of giving me a referral code…

      • I tested yesterday and it seems to be working. However my email address was never on their system previously so they might have expired on the email address level.

        • I thought deliveryhero does not use referral scheme anymore.

      • I generated a new referral link/code okay in Chrome, my previous one had expired.

Just entered email here to get a new one.

        • Yeah, I must have hit some kind of limit (OzB says my referral was used 24 times and is obviously over 90 days old). I did use that URL (from the OzB referral page) and put in my email address, but it just refreshes and doesn't give me a new code.

I have the same problem regardless of what computer/browser I use.

        • @zzyss:

Ah yeah that rings a bell now, I think it happened some time ago that users were being blocked due to suspicious activity that had a lot of referrals/clicks. You'll need to email DH support to get it unblocked.

  • FYI Amaysim have shut down their referral system:

"Hi Caesar, refer a friend is getting a makeover.

So the $10 free credit thing isn’t happening right now.

But if you already think amaysim is awesome, why not share us with your friends anyway? Come on, save your pals the hassle of other telcos and share simple with them today.

Stuck for ideas on how to share amaysim? Here's a few ways:

    • Email a friend with: “Hey (name), you should totally try amaysim. I’m with them and they’re heaps good.”
    • Call a friend and say: “(name), you are totally going to froth over amaysim’s simple plans.”
    • Message a friend on Facebook: “With no lock-in contracts, (name) you can just try amaysim for 1 month or 100 months. No strings, bro!”

We'll be back with our new referral program soon, and it'll be rad."

    • Thanks. Looks like the new program would be different from the old. I'll have to remove all the existing Amaysim referral details.

  • Vitacost's referral links are now goo.gl links, and can't be entered in the vitacostrewards.com form that OzBargain requires.

Example referral link format: https://goo.gl/AAAAAA (code changed)

They seem to end up at http://stats.socialannex.com addresses with a lot of params. Can be seen by visiting https://goo.gl/AAAAAA.info (again, not a real link).

    • Probably not a good idea to allow random Google URL shorteners in there. We have not yet developed anything to verify the referral link yet. For now I'll disable vitacost's referral program, and might develop something later to bring it back.

      • Would it be simple/acceptable to accept http://stats.socialannex.com addresses and ask the user to expand manually by visiting the goo.gl .info page? Though I suppose it's then possible to link to other sites socialannex might provide referral services for…

        • Maybe you can decipher the stats.socialannex.com URL to tell me which one is the unique per-user ID :)

        • @scotty:

(ok, let's try that again… that was as an example dammit)

Well, my actual link is https://goo.gl/ANFxgg — if someone else can provide one I'm sure we could figure out what's unique.

Looks like it eventually redirects to the Vitacost sign-in page, and sacpn looks like a coupon/referral code. At least some of the other params are necessary to not end up at the standard signup page. Always ends up at the same link, whether local, through VPN, private browsing, etc.

          e.g. https://www.vitacost.com/MyAccount/CreateAccount.aspx?sacpn=SARCWDTR&service=2&site_id=2209221&saproductid=0&recrandom=2378624&share_type=14&share_type=14&cdata=2378624_2571448_2378624_90_0_NFN1XO2209221^4270^2308

Maybe it's enough to have people visit their own goo.gl links and copy the final querystring? Then you could restrict it to https://www.vitacost.com/MyAccount/CreateAccount.aspx

I don't know whether the old referral links still work, either.

  • Continuing on from last thread.

I'm wondering if the 1 week trial will be extended? And what may deem it successful or not?

    • Trial to have OP's link shown only after front-page? It's coming later today. Got an announcement to make and then I'll update the site.

      • Yep- No rush to have it implemented today.

Await the announcement and update eagerly.

        Thanks

    • I'm wondering if the 1 week trial will be extended?

It's NOT a 1 week trial! To be implemented this week.

You misunderstood (or I miswrote) my original comment. :)

      • I swear I saw 1 week in your post, was it edited?

How long will it be implemented for?

        • I just finished the sentence with:

*We will trial as suggested by many in this thread is to move the threshold for showing the OP link from 5 to 20 for the automated referral box (aka front page) this week.

          and changed to

*We will trial as suggested by many in this thread is to move the threshold for showing the OP link from 5 to 20 for the automated referral box (aka front page) to be implemented this week.

after a number of agitated comments. There is no set time.

        • +1

          @neil:
What do you mean "agitated comments"? No one was "agitated", people just want a good solution and said a longer trial would be better when it read like it would run for a week.
Anyway, the way it is now is clear.

        • @neil: ok, so a trial starts this week for at least one week? That's correct?

        • @pointless comment:

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. Forget I mentioned anything about a week. It's obviously confusing people.

          It's implemented. The End.

        • +1

          @pointless comment:
"There is no set time." (Ongoing trial)
@Neil hahaha we are with you now its OK :)

        • @neil: ok, so its implemented, until the end.

          Of time?

        • @pointless comment:

I think you should dedicate this song to neil :P

  • Looks like those changes have already been pushed out! Random referrals only showing if less than 20 positive votes now.
    That was quick!

  • Couldn't find it in here, but would we add Lyft referrals? I have just been to the US and the Lyft referral gives new riders $5 off each ride for their first 10 rides. I used someone else's code and this was brilliant in San Francisco, most rides there costing me less than US$7! Would love to share this with others. Lyft is looking at entering Aus market "soon" apparently.

    • We can look at it again when Lyft is available in Aus, we don't have any deals posted for Lyft now so the referral system won't be any benefit.

      Thanks

  • I noticed today that for Belong (ISP) referrals, it says "Referee will receive $20 off 1st payment, $0 activation and $1 modem." However, the referrer also receives $20 off their next bill, which should probably be added to the text.

  • Just an update. Amaysim has brought back its referral program. Everyone should put their referral info back in.

    • The referral links are missing the /r/ in the URL between amaysi.ms and the code.

      • Interestingly mine doesn't have /r/ — still working out the new scheme and it certainly redirects to a different URL.

        • Clicking through the random, some work and some link to http://amaysi.ms/index.html which looks like the Amp landing page. Confusing.

        • I personalised my link, and the personalised link doesn't have /r/. The original randomly generated one did.

        • @zzyss: Yeah mine is a personalised one. In fact I have 2 Amaysim accounts. Personalise one, and now it shows up on both accounts.

Edit: alright. It appears that the referral link is bound to email address rather than account.

  • Could we have a link set up for Koala Mattress? they have a $75 off referral program going on. Referrer gets $50. Cheers

I'm keen to get the AMEX platinum edge referral system going.

      Bit late (scroll down)

I'd also like to make a referral for Powershop:

      Again, bit late

All housed within the referral wiki

      • +1

I suppose the Amex one begs the question of why it can't be automated, if there is a known, fixed URL format.

        • +2

Current system allows only one referral system per store / domain. For AmEx it has different referral URL per product — something that we plan to develop "in the near future".

      • Thanks, I'd somehow missed it.

  • Hi
Don't know if I'm doing it the right way but could you add vividwireless to the referral wiki?

My referral is http://vw4g.co/59519 and the '59519' is the unique code. It can be got by logging in to the vividwireless account and going to the 'refer a friend' tab. https://online.vividwireless.com.au/account/referrals

When the referral code is entered when activating the account both get a free month's usage.

    Thanks

    • Thanks. It has been added. Vivid Wireless.

      • The Vivid Wireless referral code can be only used maximum 12 times. It turns out there are a lot of the randomized codes have reached the maximum of 12 redeemed referrals, it is a bit frustrating to fill out the whole long registration form, and found out the code cannot be used. As the code is random, is there a way to filter out those invalid ones, which has already been used up?

        • +1

Unfortunately there's no way for us to verify how many times the code has been used (or rather, costly to verify). I am setting the code to expire after 90 days so older code will be automatically removed.

        • @scotty: Thank you for your reply. May want to take consideration of last update time when randomizing?

        • @clix455: that wouldn't be random would it? :)

  • I have just added Airbnb to the user referral system. I know that you are not supposed to publicise it according to their T&C, but hiding behind a randomised system is still better than putting everyone's code on wiki.

I have tried to migrate all the code over from wiki. However please check whether the correct info has been copied over.

    • Are the links working? Usually when you click an Airbnb referral it will show you who sent the referral and the amount of the credit but when I click on the link from the referral system it just goes to the Airbnb homepage.

      • Looks like Airbnb explicitly checks for OzBargain in HTTP referrer. My home dev site is fine but OzBargain live site is not. I just put in a temporary fix to suppress sending the referrer so Airbnb does not know that it's coming from OzBargain. However the solution does not currently work with Internet Explorer (but works fine with Edge).

        • LOL, it's Airbnb vs Ozbargain, like Netflix vs geoblocking.

        • Working now on Chrome too.

Could this be happening with other referral links as well?

        • @Holysmoke: which other site blocks OzB referral?

    • Airbnb referral's page says "When a friend travels on Airbnb, you both get $40 AUD in travel credit. When they welcome their first guest, you get $100 AUD in travel credit."

Ozbargain's Airbnb page says "Referee gets $45 credit. Referrer gets $45 credit when referee travel, $83 when referee host.".

      Please update.

      • Thanks, will update now.

  • Maybe this is a stupid question, I know there's an AMEX referal wiki page but how do I edit?

    • If you are on an overseas IP address (including VPN) then the edit button won't appear. If this is an issue contact us via TWAM and we can bypass it for you.

      • thanks!

  • Can we please get Vultr.com referral Scotty?

    • Can you get a bit more information on their referral program? How to apply? What requirement? What benefit? Sorry I am not a Vultr.com customer so unable to find out.

      • Refer Vultr.com and earn $10 per paid signup!

        • $10 earned for every new unique paid user you refer.

        • Referred users must be 30+ days old and use at least $10 in payments to be counted as verified sales.

        • Payouts are finalized and issued on the business day following the 1st and 15th of each month.

The Ref link is like http://www.vultr.com/?ref=XXXXXXX

      • Refer Vultr.com and earn $10 per paid signup!

        • $10 earned for every new unique paid user you refer.

        • Referred users must be 30+ days old and use at least $10 in payments to be counted as verified sales.

        • Payouts are finalized and issued on the business day following the 1st and 15th of each month.

i posted an example ref link but it got done for spam

        • No worries. I can see the example.

        • +1

It has been added. However it appears that there's no benefit for the referred — just $10 for the referrer. People should be signing up with link offer instead to get $50 bonus credit.

  • mods, could we please add x-mirage referral??

    • X-Mirage deal site is just a white-labelled StackCommerce Site. You should have posted it with the StackSocial link instead, and we do have referral set up for StackSocial.

  • Could we look at adding Klook, Klook lets you buy tickets at a discount for tourist attractions focusing on South East Asia. Such as Universal Studios in Singapore, Disney Land in Hong Kong plus many more attractions. I brought tickets for Universal Studios Singapore and received the tickets instantly. If you download the app you can access the tickets even without wifi, which I used at Universal Studios, they just scan the barcode at the gate, no need to even print out the tickets. Klook refer a friend gives AUD4.5 to every friend who joins Klook and you AUD4.5 when your friend completes the experience booked. Also earn credits for booking experiences and writing a short review. My Klook Link: https://www.klook.com/invite/8E7LF
    Direct Link: https://www.klook.com/

    • We don't even have an existing Klook deal.

    • LOL maybe go post it over on OzBargain's sister site: cheapcheaplah.com

      • Yeah might be better to post it on cheapcheaplah.com

      • does ozbargain have any brothers.
        It has so many sisters.

        • LOL yeah so sexist.

I think it's a relic of European languages where everything has to have a gender. Maybe it should be brothers - "le site internet" is the translation of Website in French, which means it's "masculine".

          Maybe that's overthinking it a bit :-P

Merged from Time to introduce VPN.SH referrals

Looks like we could now earn referrals on vpn.sh:

For each user which you get to sign up to our service, your affiliate account will be credited with £4. Once you've amassed £12 in your affiliate account (so the equivalent of 3 signups), you'll be able to have this transferred to your PayPal account!

To register as an affiliate today, visit our affiliates page (https://www.vpn.sh/clients/affiliates.php). Once logged in, clicked "Activate Affiliate Account" and you'll receive your affiliate link. At the bottom of the page, there's a direct link to the order form which you can use if you wish to send friends directly to the checkout rather than to our website first.

Can we have this added to referrals page please?

    • +1

What benefit does referee receive? In the case of VPN.SH, the referrer receives direct monetary incentive (PayPal fund) and are treated as affiliate links on OzBargain.

  • +1

CurrencyFair has been added, where both referrer and referred will receive €30 + a free transfer.

  • How about Fiverr? They allow anyone signing up to get $5 ($5USD) free so you can get 1 gig for absolutely nothing, just for signing up - seems like a good deal to. The referrer only gets a $5 credit when the person who signed up spends $10 so it's not as great for referrers, but it's still a good deal for people signing up using a referral code.

    Here's my referral link: https://www.fiverr.com/s2/621a42d9dd
    Referral info page: http://support.fiverr.com/hc/en-us/articles/205654287-How-do…

    • How is it a good deal when the referred gets nothing?

      • Looks more like spamming the referral link… maybe change that link to a more generic one?

      • As I said, it's not such a good deal for the referrer (unless the person goes on to spend $10 on the service), but free $5USD for the person signing up is still free.

  • +1

Just added UberEATS to the list of referrals we support, as we have been getting quite a few referral spams lately. It's a tricky one as

    • Only in mobile apps
    • You can only get the code after the first order
    • Code does appear to expire after a while
    • Only available to Melbourne currently

So for now you can put in your UberEATS coupon code in our referral system. However it will auto-expire after a month.

  • +8

Another update to the user-referral system this morning. We will stop sending referral links / code from users who have not logged into OzBargain for more than 3 months. Because,

    • Referral is a benefit for active OzBargain users.
    • It also prevents people from creating accounts on OzBargain just to leave their referral code.

So if you have not accessed OzBargain as a logged in user for more than 3 months, your referral links / code will not be included in the random pool.

  • +1

Added Digital Concert Hall to referral system.

  • Can you please add Touchvoicemail. I think its already on choicecheapies. Thank you !!

    • I put together a wiki page for this deal. No point in having this system as it will be over in a day or two.

  • Could we get Deliveroo added?

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/256107

edit: Haven't created an account yet so that I can be referred, so can't see the details on how to get a link from the site.

    • Yes, just added. :)

      • thanks!

  • Could you please add Foodora to the referral list.

Example of a deal here https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/258911.

From this deal we decided not to add it to the referral system as it ends at the end of this month.

  • Can Vaniday.com.au be added to the system?
Referral for a $25 credit is in the form of: https://referral.vaniday.com.au/491D87E3

  • Scotty, I think there is a problem with the links to winedirect.com.au the correct referral link is not coming through and people aren't getting the benefit. I think it may be a coding issue with the individual link random referral generator

    • Wait. Are you an associate with winedirect, or Just a referrer?

    • Anyway. It should be fixed now.

      • Sorry, yes, I work for the company. Thanks for your help!

      • @scotty still seems to be broken. Can you please pm me a direct email so I can explain for you?

    • Is winedirect still not listed because of this?

      • +1

Yes there are some issues integrating winedirect's referral system so it's turned off at the moment.

    • We now support multiple parameters for referral and have turned it on for winedirect.

      • You the man Scotty, looks to be working now, greatly appreciated. I'll let you know if there stem any issues from our end

Are you allowed to have a refferal link as your profiles website? Just looking at the user who posted the comment above (Dacs) has an Airbnb refferal as his website.

      • +3

At the moment we don't have rules against it,

Sorry Scotty but I have to disagree:

Do not link to your referral deal elsewhere on OzBargain (forums, comments in other deals).

Whilst not linking to a deal per se, is it not the same implication?

        • Those guidelines were only meant as they read, for 'referral deals' and we don't include a signature as 'elsewhere on OzBargain', otherwise store reps with their websites in their signatures would be breaching store rep code of conduct by linking to their website elsewhere on OzBargain. The only restriction with signatures is the obvious illegal/inappropriate website links (anything banned on OzBargain).

  • Can we have referral for Citibank Platinum Credit card please?
Just received an email from citibank with my referral link : "Earn 40,000 bonus points for each friend or family member you refer to a Citi Platinum Rewards card".

    • Add it here

  • Mods, could we get Citibank Platinum card referral added.

  • +1

What's the point of Groupon refferal links when the referred doesn't get any bonus? There's a lot of controversy over some users putting no effort into a Groupon deal and gaining money from refferals (example, example), so why not just remove Groupon from the system. There isn't any advantage to the user who clicks through on the refferal.

  • Hi, any chance the AMEX referral wiki could get a review / bit of an overhaul? A few recent observations:

** There are some outdated referral offers (such as 120,000 MR points for plat charge sign up with referral, which ended some months back) still advertised.
** There are a couple of user editing errors that can be seen.
** Platinum Rewards card referral links still up, though it was recently confirmed that the card is no longer availabl.

Finally, having closed a card awhile back, I have observed that AMEX still keeps the referral links accessible once the card is closed, but there is no benefit to the user - would it be worth asking people who have closed down cards to remove their referral links, so as to reduce down the list? This will allow referrees to click on the links of current card members, so that both parties benefit.

    • I get an email for every wiki change so I can for the most part see all changes being made. If you feel you can improve it then go for it. Just put the reason for the edit when clicking save so we/I can figure out the change.

I'll remove Platinum Rewards and edit the Plat Charge card unless someone beats me to it. If you have any suggestions of a better way to present the links, then let us know. It's a bit overwhelming but the wiki is all we can use at the moment.

      • Why can't it be randomised like the other referral links?

        • There are 11 different Amex Cards on the Wiki and deals involving Amex can have a variety of links. So you would have to figure out which referral to show. It's on the development queue so we'll see what happens.

      • Thanks Neil. I will have a go at a quick tidy up and document reasons for edits. Just a quick note - the AMEX Plat Charge card sign on bonus has just changed to 100,000 bonus points via the standard link (I have updated the deal), so might be worth waiting 24 hours to see if the referral offer changes again, before making any changes (currently still sitting at 90,000 points).

  • Cudo/Living Social -

    http://cudo.com.au/referral
    http://livingsocial.com.au/referral

$5 in credit are valid for 3 months, and awarded if the referred person purchases within 72 hours of subscribing without using a promo code or credit.

Probably should be noted in the grey referral box, rather than just

    $5 to referrer first purchase

Maybe something like "$5 to referrer after referee makes first purchase without using a promo code or credit"?

(Side note, shit referral system, almost no point bothering)

And the LivingSocial page doesn't seem to be showing this part any more:

Referrer receives $20 credit after 10 referees subscribed

At least not on the links above

    • Cudo fixed thanks, LivingSocial will be done over the coming days also, will just use the same wording as Cudo.

      Edit: Done

  • Merged from Powershop Referral Links

Powershop has recently started providing referral links, so you don't need to fill your friends' information in on their web site to get referral credits.

Would it be possible to (please :)) put a referral option for Powershop onto the referrals page?

    :)

  • Why do ING Direct referral codes expire? Mine has been the same for years. I suppose it gives active users more of chance.

  • +3

Its been >6 months since Moderators made changes to the referral system. Its in the right direction but IMO the impact is slight. The ozbargain regulars are well aware of the issue and have spoken up - most recent example.

    • Groupon deals (and other referral sites) still being monopolised by the few. The majority can't benefit if they can't even post their own deals due to it being marked duplicate, thanks to placeholder deals and certain users knowing well in advance of anyone else.
    • spam of questionable deals posted solely to milk referral $

Can I suggest a few things to curb the avenues being used to spam referral codes and the $ amount each person can make:

    • "randomised referrals only" on Deals until it gathers 60 votes. IMO our userbase is large enough to make sure any good deal will get posted and receive many votes, regardless of who posted it.

    • Do not allow OP to put their referral link in the deal description if the site is already in the automated system. Why wait for 25 votes if they can just place link in the description ?

    • Referrals should always benefit the referrer and the new signup equally. If only the referrer gets paid, there should be a ceiling as to how many deals (for the same store) they can post in a set time (say, per 90 days block). We limit the number of deals people can post, why not the same here?

    • I know Hamza has responded to you but I'll give my 2 cents as I think this is more of a philosophical discussion.

The ability for a user to put in their referral link in the description is a reward for them posting a deal. No one forces anyone to click on their referral link in the description and users have the ability to click on a randomised link. Those who are clicking through via an OPs referral link are choosing to. Users have choices.

Not being permitted to put their referral link in and raising the ceiling to 60 votes is pushing to a system that doesn't reward a users contribution. Should the benefit of referrals only be random users who possibly don't contribute to the community? We prefer to give users choices just like we do with filtering, settings, etc.

If good deals are being posted (200+ votes on the example you listed), it shouldn't matter who the person posting is, what their motivation of posting is or whether they have a referral link.

P.S. If you want to beat people to Groupon deals, just go to the Groupon NZ site as they post the coupons there first and they are mostly the same as Groupon Australia.

      • +2

I think that the OP's referral shouldn't be shown in the grey referral box at the bottom. If a poster wanted to gain referral credit from posting then s/he could add it to a post. There are limits on the number of posts you can do with a referral in the description but there are no limits on the number of posts with a referrals in the grey box. Having an unlimited number of referral posts encourages spam.

        • It only shows once it hits the front page. If a deal hits the front page then it's not spam.

        • +2

@neil: Probably used the wrong words in my comment. You said above:

The ability for a user to put in their referral link in the description is a reward for them posting a deal.

I don't mind people being rewarded for posting deals but there's a difference between posting a deal and getting a reward and posting a deal to get a reward. Rewards for posting shouldn't be reasons for posting and I've that for more users (not going to name anyone) it's became a reason for posting.

OzBargain is a website helping people to save money not a website to make money.

Not being permitted to put their referral link in and raising the ceiling to 60 votes is pushing to a system that doesn't reward a users contribution. Should the benefit of referrals only be random users who possibly don't contribute to the community? We prefer to give users choices just like we do with filtering, settings, etc.

Yes, it is a users choice but no matter what if you post lots of Groupon (or any other site with a referral program) deals your get referral clicks.

If good deals are being posted (200+ votes on the example you listed), it shouldn't matter who the person posting is, what their motivation of posting is or whether they have a referral link.

Another reason to make referrals only random: some users aren't voting up deals posting by some users to stop them from gaining referral credits.

P.S. If you want to beat people to Groupon deals,

What is the point of Groupon referrals anyway? I don't see any point for referral links when there's no benefit to the referred.

        • @TheClipIt:

OzBargain is a website helping people to save money not a website to make money.

So in the same fashion, then reps shouldn't be allowed to post? They are helping people save money + making themselves money.

        • @neil: Rep posts have more limitations, the OP of a Rep post can't vote on there own post. Also most rep posts are OzBargain exclusives which can't be posted by anyone else. 99% of referral posts would still get posted whether there are referral posts or not.

Looking back previously at why referral links are allowed?:

I remember we had this discussion many years ago as people were demanding to be rewarded for posting on OzBargain.

OzBargain should just be like every other forum, people contribute (without gaining anything) and people read other peoples content. Most posts on here are like this, but too many posts are being driven purely by referrals. If users are demanding to be rewarded then they

        • @TheClipIt:

          Rep posts have more limitations

Rep posts have the posting limits just as referral posts do.

99% of referral posts would still get posted whether there are referral posts or not.

having an unlimited number of referral posts encourages spam.

So you're happy with SPAM just not with a referral link. :)

OzBargain should just be like every other forum, people contribute (without gaining anything) and people read other peoples content.

Actually most bargain sites like TopBargains, HotUKDeals, Dealnews etc. all run affiliate links which we don't for logged in users.

Looking back previously at why referral links are allowed?:

Yes, Scott summed it up perfectly:

Over the years we have been fine tuning our referral system and rules, but we also come down to the conclusion that it is not possible to keep everyone happy. At the same time it's not OzBargain staffs' obligation to keep every individual happy, but to operate the site so it is going to the right direction that benefits most people.

We appreciate the feedback and will discuss but at this point in time we aren't changing the system.

As a reminder for everyone, attacking or bullying those who do post referral links is not permitted. While you don't have to like everyone on this site, you do need to respect our commenting guidelines.

        • +1

          @neil:

Rep posts have the posting limits just as referral posts do.

Did you read my comment? "the OP of a Rep post can't vote on there own post"

So you're happy with SPAM just not with a referral link. :)

I used the wrong in my original comment. I meant 'SPAM' as posting a large number of deals simply to obtain referrals.

Actually most bargain sites like TopBargains, HotUKDeals, Dealnews etc. all run affiliate links which we don't for logged in users.

I wouldn't mind if OzBargain had affiliate links, but users have there own affiliate links is different.

Could you also consider what I said earlier:

What is the point of Groupon referrals anyway? I don't see any point for referral links when there's no benefit to the referred.

          Why not remove Groupon completely?

"What is the point of Groupon referrals anyway? I don't see any point for referral links when there's no benefit to the referred."

I completely agree with the above.
Groupon posts in particular stand out as the spammiest of spammed spam.
The referrals bring no benefit to members, although of course the pay well for the poster at $10per pop.
Given OzB's huge userbase these days it really pays off when there is a "go-er" and thus it's worth the daily postings.
It's making the site the free daily Groupon advertising site.

      • +1

        Hi Neil
I've bolded your post which I'm replying to, seems more readable this way than the > tag

        > referral link in the description is a reward for them posting a deal

        Just to clarify my position:

        • I have no issues with users being rewarded for posting great deals
        • I have a regular job also so I'm not writing these suggestions to somehow benefit myself

        > Actually most bargain sites like TopBargains, HotUKDeals, Dealnews etc. all run affiliate links which we don't for logged in users.

But what is the percentage ratio of Deal clicks/day from:

        a) logged-in users
        b) anonymous guests

Looking at the stats printed on the bottom, when I posted tonight it was 25% reg'd users, 75% anons - still a large slice of income.

Thanks to Ozbargain's huge volume of visitors, if just 1% of all deal clicks are referrals, its still a lot of money - hence the spam of low quality deals to catch outliers. Just 5 referrals at Groupon nets $50, easy money for a few minutes work.

the right direction that benefits most people

On the topic of earning $ from Ref deals, I don't think the current system "benefits most people", it benefits the small group that know about upcoming Sale Events well in advance. There is little chance for the majority to earn referral $ because the insider is guaranteed to know first and will post a placeholder deal. Anyone else's deal gets unpublished for being dupe.

Thus I suggest placing a low cap on how many referral deal someone can post per month. Once they had their fill, someone else can have a go. Thanks to ozB's big userbase, its a given that good deals will get posted here, by someone. We will not miss out even if referrals are capped. Someone out of the thousands will post it if the usual poster isn't around - because there is $ to be made!

        • +4

Referral posts are capped to 2/week (from memory), however posters have discovered that deals with referral links attached get few votes early on, so are holding off adding their referral link until (or if) the deal hits front page.

I know there's a silent minority of sorts that are in agreement over all this, and tbh it sucks that the minority ruin it for the majority. We seem to constantly have to plug the gaps or deal with the grey areas because of a select few who discover them.

I get what both sides are saying, and I was a strong advocate of change when this discussion was last brought up. I don't think anything is going to change any time soon. However, it does seem that the community are becoming all too aware of what some people are up to, and that's why the deals aren't front-paging as often as they once did.

        • +3

And just need to see the 61 pos votes on this comment to know the reputations that are being made.

That's a significant number of members that seemingly agree with the comment.

  • How can I add a referral link for the Amex Hilton Hotel/Gym Membership deal? There's no automated link/code. New members just need to quote my name when they join.

Thought the best way to find out if the current system is benefiting most members, is thru a Poll.

Can't do a poll in the comments, so if ok with the Mods i'll create a new thread for it and link it here
    So, ozbargainers:

    • Is the referral system being misused by the few?
    • Are you ok with the current system?
    • Do you want changes introduced?
    • I think we've had more than enough discussion about referrals here. We don't need another let's bash Easternculture thread. :)

      • +5

I wouldn't have posted any differently if it was someone else, neil - its the behavior that we're discussing, not the man

      • +1

We don't need another let's bash Easternculture thread. :)

From what I read from Payton's comment he's simply suggesting creating a poll, could you create a forum with a poll and then close the comments or something so users can vote and not comment?

      • +2

        What's wrong with a poll?
Open discussion is always best is it not?
Some particularly "spammy" daily posts are little more than drift net referral farming and it lessens the site and the community IMHO.

        • +2

Yeah a poll would be fair. It's good to encourage open discussion on topics :)

      • +3

neil, the "Referrals 101" page you linked (being a guide) did not have a poll.
I didn't request an extra discussion page but just a poll linked to here.
It'd give a measure of what the community wants and its quicker to see the votes in three lines rather than having to tally up what people wanted by reading 100+ comments

Poll options I was going to put in

        • The referral system is being misused and needs to change
        • The referral system is being misused but shouldn't change
        • The referral system isn't being misused
      • +2

so, as long as discussions are kept here, no problems with a poll?

      • +2

A poll on this topic was denied this morning.
Given the significant amount of interest and 70+ votes earlier, this is one area where decisions are not driven by what the majority wants ?

        • As before, we don't need a new discussion topic on referrals. We are well aware of all of the comments, votes, discussions, arguments, attacks etc regarding referrals.

So please give it a rest.

        • @neil: and as before:

could you create a forum with a poll and then close the comments or something so users can vote and not comment?

          and

He even mentioned in his post to keep all discussions here

      • Payton has multiple times replied to your comment and you failed to respond to all his questions about whether a poll would be alright and then remove his post as a duplicate. Payton has already responded to that:

neil, the "Referrals 101" page you linked (being a guide) did not have a poll.
I didn't request an extra discussion page but just a poll linked to here.
It'd give a measure of what the community wants and its quicker to see the votes in three lines rather than having to tally up what people wanted by reading 100+ comments

He even mentioned in his post to keep all discussions here, so why his post removed and made a duplicate to a completely different post?

    • +2

      Since Payton said:

Can’t do a poll in the comments, so if ok with the Mods i’ll create a new thread for it and link it here

So I’ve created a poll through Google Forms so that it can be in the comments.
      Link (Results)

I’ve made it very clear that the poll isn’t endorsed or supported by OzBargain and that no changes are guaranteed as a result of it. I hope you don’t mind it being here.

      As King Tightarse said previously:

”5 users are unhappy about referrals.” I am not sure this entirely represents the situation
I would say 5 users are unhappy with the referral system as it is , not per se. and I would add that 5 users have spoken about it, but how many are following this thread or agree with the proposal but choose not to speak? I could be a large number, we don’t actually know.

I (and more then one other commenters in this discussion) think that a poll would be the best way to find out the true number of people who want change in this area.

      • How are you going to get more users to complete the form? There are only 17 subscribers to this thread.

        • More people may see the thread who aren't subscribed. Next time referrals come up in deal comments I'll link to it, hopefully that will get some more responses.

        • @TheClipIt:

It'll never give you a big enough pool of results, not enough for mods to even consider bothering with.

      Sigh :)

      • Does being new means that I'm not allowed to post here? Is there any reason why you feel the need to point out that I'm a new member? (I have been coming to ozbargain for years btw, but didn't make an account). Thanks for making me feel welcomed.

        Sigh :S

        • Your perfectly allowed to post, except a lot of people only come here to post referrals and when you've never commented or posted before and then you request a referral added to system it looks at though you're one of those people.

        • @TheClipIt:
Why would it matter if I've never posted before? There was no rule on who can suggest new referral links to be added, and in the OP it says "Feel free to submit new ones in the comments". I'm doing just that cause I feel ozbargain is missing a popular website (like lootcrate).

I'm a quiet person IRL and online, and I don't feel the need to comment on every post/deal/thread I visited. If you want to be passive aggressive and put down every newbies who suggest something, so be it.

        • +2

@bleukreuz: I don't want to get into an argument but I never said once that your comment wasn't allowed.

I don't think the reason for belonging to OzB should be purely gain referral credits, OzB is a community and members should be members to contribute to the community not to gain referral credits. I assumed from the fact that you haven't commented before that you signed up to OzB purely to get referral credits (I may have been mistaken)

I'm going to finish this argument here, if you want to contribute to OzB then that's great and I wholeheartedly encourage you to do so but if your only interested in gaining referral (which I thought you were) then OzB isn't the place for you.

        • To be added to the referral system, basically means it should be something that has had deals posted for it.

In the case of Lootcrate, just look here at the lack of interest in the deals. General consensus is that people aren't interested in a lucky dip type of system.

  • Hey Mods, is there any way to remove referrals links from deals where using the referral link invalidates the deal?

I got burned by the Westpac Uber deal:

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/250518

Using the referral link when signing up, means you can't use the Westpac code in the app.

    • I don't think you can combine Uber referrals with any coupon codes? If that's the case, perhaps we should change the message.

      • +1

Might be an idea to go through the referrals and check that. Like UberEats, same thing, it's 1 or the other

    • We've changed the referral box message on Uber, Ubereats etc. to include:

Cannot be stacked with new user signup codes.

      Thanks

  • Hi Scotty,

is there a way to implement the different credit card referrals?
At a glance at American Express, it seems there are just 2 types of links. If someone pastes something and it matches either, it could be added to a list to be handled by a referral generator.

Then there might be a different referral generator for the American Express or other network posts, which might:
1- Ask the user to "Click here" to show referrals
2- On clicking that, it expands, like comments do, within the same page, to show all the different applicable cards and a referral section for them

    • It's something on the development queue, see most recent discussion here. Ultimately want to get everything from the problematic and messy referral wiki into the automated referral system.

  • Kogan was added to the referral system this morning.

Referee will receive $10 credit to spend, and referrer will get $10 credit after referee has made a purchase.

  • Booking.com

    Format https://www.booking.com/s/xxxxxx
Instructions to get referral link: Navigate to Dashboard to obtain referral link
Benefit for referees: AUD 20 for you and your friends! Recommend us to someone who books, and you’ll both get a reward after they stay!

    • We've never had any deals for booking.com so having it in the referral system would have little to no benefit sorry.

  • Hi,I want to point ING Direct Refer issue again here.I have mentioned here.

The difference between my suggested link and current link is:current one shows official code WELCOME75 in the registration page(scroll down to see) while my suggested one shows a personal referral code from a random ozbargainer. In other words, currect one is useless coz all referers will use the official code that they see in the registration page.It is not a random referral link.

    • Hi Neoika,

Admins have updated the ING Direct referral link formatting now.

      Thanks

  • I believe that those who have referral links should be unable to vote in deals that mention those referrals.

    Exhibit A: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/281403
74 positive votes on a mediocre deal. There are 500+ users in the random referral code generator. At the very least I'd like to see how many of these positive votes are from those with referee codes and flagged as "conflict of interest".

Ozbargain is a democracy, and these referral links are negatively influencing it

    • 88 votes out of 507 referrals in the random generator… pretty bad odds imo.

      • Now 224 positive votes now.

I can't explain that reaction…although I guess it's good to see interest rates rising, but this deal in particular is really average (and the OP is not well known either)

    • If we followed your logic, Groupon deals would have 700+ votes on each and every deal. But they don't. They barely crack 50 most of the time.

      • ING $75 cash vs Groupon $10 credit

ING referrals are much more generous

        • ING Direct referral link is not working on Ozbargain at all unless MODs change it to my suggested link above.

Just click it and you only see WELCOME75 code is filled in the reg page(scroll down to find it).

  • Can Kent and Lime please be added? see for full details: https://kentandlime.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/222972728-…

"By referring your friend you will give them a $25 credit that they can use on their first box, plus you will receive $25 shopping credit too once they’ve placed their first order. The amount of credit you can earn is unlimited."

URLs are of the form www.kentandlime.com.au/invite/xxxxx

  • Any Chance of Pet Circle? petcircle.com.au I've never felt need refer anyone as prices good enough anyway

Here is a sample of the their site

    Refer a friend and save!

(Redacted my ID) is your custom invite code. Each friend that signs up will get $10 OFF their first order. You get $10 too, and there's no limit to how many friends you can refer. It's the ultimate win-win! Full terms.

  • could we add a amex referral link? it looks like they have a fixed format now

    http://amex.com.au/refer/XXXXXXX

    • Amex seems to have different referral links for different products. See referral wiki. We are working on having multiple referral settings per store, which would then migrate the wiki pages over.

  • Hi Scotty.

Can we have a referral page for Sleeping Duck matresses please. https://www.sleepingduck.com/au/

They have had a couple of deals posted on here and only yesterday someone asked for a referral code for these guys in the the comments.

The format for the referral code is https://www.sleepingduck.com/au/raf/r1nksike/

    The T&C's are https://www.sleepingduck.com/au/refer-a-friend/tos/

Basically, those purchasing a new mattress using the referral code get $50 off instantaneously and the referee gets a $50 gift card after the 100 day cooling off period if they have kept the mattress.

    Thanks

    • Referral has been added to the system.

      • Sleeping Duck have now updated their terms and conditions (in the link above) to say that referrals through OzBargain are not valid. I checked recently and my SleepingDuck referral code has been clicked over 200 times, but I’ve never got any rewards from SD. I clicked my own link and found that they have marked the code as invalid. I ran into this same issue when I was trying to use other people’s SD referrals from OzB, they were all marked as invalid. Maybe the SD referrals should be removed?

        • We've switched the system to PM (notified all users) as to not expose the links. They also have a cap on how many people you can refer so by using PM, the referrer should check to see if their code is valid.

  • Forgot to mention that the referral code is emailed to you after you purchase a mattress for anyone wishing to post their own to the page.

  • Rather than a wiki can we please add TopCashback UK to the system? :)

    • We also might need a store page for them

    • +1

      It's created.

Ideally people should ask about setting up the referral system here rather than creating a wiki page, as our plan for this year includes phrasing out all the referral wiki pages as they are way too problematic.

Once they take a trip, the referrer gets $15 Car Next Door credit. If the new members shares their car within 30 days of signing up, referrer gets $15 cash credit to CND account.

    Referral System Update February 2017

Many of you here have probably seen the revamped List of Referral Codes wiki page, which lists out all the automated referrals that we have — and there are over 100 of them! Over the past month I have also been migrating some of the referral wiki pages to automated system, so do not be alarmed when some of your referral links / codes are missing — check whether they have been migrated to the automated/randomised system.

    Other changes:

    • A store / domain can now have multiple referral systems. For example you can see randomised coupon codes for multiple products on ArtsCow page.

    • A referral link can now have multiple parameters. See referrals for Dollar Shave Club and winedirect

My next task would be migrating the huge FUBAR known as American Express referral wiki over to the automated system. It's a massive PITA for the moderators when people add/remove their links which can sometimes stuff up the entire page.

  • Can Hello Fresh be added?
You get $30 credit and the other person gets $30 off first order.

    • It used to be on wiki, but see this:

You SHOULD NOT put your HelloFresh referral code here. From the Terms of Services at HelloFresh:

13.6 Mate's Rates (our voucher referral program) is a program designed to give customers a chance to recommend the HF service to friends, families and colleagues. These vouchers are not valid if used inappropriately, such as being published on deal sites or bargain sites. Thus, HelloFresh reserves the right to cancel any suspicious codes and delete credits from the sharers account.** Hello Fresh Terms and Conditions

We have a few reports in the past where their referral code has been changed, or booted from their referral program. Please do not leave your referral code on OzBargain.

  • Hi, Can World Remit be added?
You get $35 credit and the other person gets $35 off first transfer.
    Thank you.

    • World Remit has been added.

      • Thanks a lot Scotty. Would it be possible add a URL Parameter too?

        • Can you provide some information? What does the URL format look like?

        • @scotty:

          Thanks Scotty.
          It is https://www.worldremit.com/en/r/(referral code)

        • @everlast24: Sure. Updated now to the link format.

        • @scotty:

          Perfect. Thanks.

  • Also, how about Institchu?
    Thank you.

    American Express Referrals Migrated

I have created the products and the referral settings for them. Please see here for the list of American Express referrals.

I have also attempted to migrate the referrals from the old wiki to it. However

    • Many links are in the old format (https://www316.americanexpress.com/iFormsSecure/... rather than http://amex.com.au/refer/...). So only the new format are moved.
    • Some users actually do not exist
    • Some users also have duplicated referral links that got picked up by the system (dodgy individuals changing other people's links to theirs)

For now, I am setting all the Amex referrals to expire after 180 days so you'll have to put yours back in afterwards, to hopefully remove non-working links. Please do go to your referral settings page and check whether your referral links are correct.

    • So will the old wiki still remain as is?

      • I am leaving it as it is for 2 weeks. All referral links on the wiki will be removed in mid-March.

        • This issue is that not all the referral links are able to be generated in the new format. Under the old programme you could generate a link for any type of card but the new referral page only allows you to generate for the card that you currently hold. The old links still work so not sure if there is a way to keep the old format links?

        • +1

@Holysmoke: no. Moving forward it's new format only. There were too many issues with wiki pages and we are at the point saying that we will not make it work if your referral links are not of required format.

        • @scotty: Any way to put the old links into the automated system? Most of the links in the wiki are in old format so there will not be many in the system if new format only.

        • @Holysmoke: the two links aren't compatible, and currently from within the app and in the website you only get the new format. People should always check whether their referral links have been migrated and update if there's any change.

  • Hi OzB team, Please consider adding enhancv - https://enhancv.com/ (a cool resume builder site)

You and your friend will both get 20% OFF once she/he joins!*
*Note: as soon as your friend joins, they need to verify their email.
Get 100% OFF the Pro plan by inviting 5 friends.

    • We don't normally add referral for stores that don't have deals on OzBargain — that shows most people aren't interested in it.

  • Hi Scotty,

Could we please consider Wolrd Remit (https://www.worldremit.com/) and Institchu(https://www.institchu.com/)?

You get $35 credit and the other person gets $35 off first transfer on WR and $50 on institchu.

    Thanks in advance.

  • Hi scotty could you please add Extrabux? <MOD: Referral link removed>

    • Why should someone use Extrabux? Any compelling reason when comparing with other cashback sites like Ebates or TopCashback?

      • No other site seems to have cashback on Amazon shoes.

  • Deliveroo is only $5 for Referee

And clicked on the random ones and I saw 1 was expired (https://deliveroo.com.au/invite?rooit=kevins0603&utm_source=…), so looks like there's time limits on them.

    • Anyone knows how Deliveroo expires their referral links? By number of clicks, number if referrals or time based?

  • Velocity Frequent Flyer

    Sample Link

PROMOCODE is where the referral link is.

Referrer gets 1,000 points if the referee signs up and earns 40 points by 30/4.
    Referee gets 1,000 points

Promotion has been run once before. I guess offer will end April 30.

    • Is it targeted, like last year's one? The reward tiers are different by person too…

I didn't get the email (unsubscribed) and there isn't much/any info online about it.

      • I didn't receive an email either but there were a few OzBargainers who did. So I guess the referrer part would be targeted but anyone signing up with the link would get 1,000 points.

  • Can we get a referral page or automated referral links for the foodora app?

  • Can we get Sparesbox added?
They sent out an email campaign titled Earn $10 for Every Friend you Refer to Sparesbox!
Referrer gets a $10 voucher and referee gets a $10 discount.
It's convoluted to get a referral code as the email takes you to a page to enter your name/email (you don't have to be an existing customer to refer others). https://www.sparesbox.com.au/refer/refer-a-friend-parts/

That takes you to a page where you can enter friends email addresses or post to FB/twitter. Click the twitter button (it should preview without posting) and it has a goo.gl short url (add a + to the end of the url to see where it goes to) which points to your referral link. Example: https://www.sparesbox.com.au/refer/referral/ecom/ref/?????? (where ?????? is your referral code)

  • Can Ratesetter referrals please be re-activated for this deal?
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/297340
    Thanks.

  • Can you please add David Jones American Express PLATINUM? The standard card is already catered for, but not the Platinum which offers 20,000 Points for the Referrer and 50,000 bonus Reward points for the referred Applicant.

    • +1

      It has been added.

      • Thanks. Can you please update the description for the DJ Amex Platinum card? It's now 30,000 points for the Referrer and 60,000 for the Referred.

        • That's been updated.

  • Can Eye Buy Direct be added, please? :)

The URL format for the referral link:
    https://au.eyebuydirect.com/XXXXXXX (7 digits)

Instructions to get the referral link:
https://au.eyebuydirect.com/referral-program login at this link and click on "Share your Personal Link"

Benefit for the referrers and referees:
$10 each, plus $50 bonus to referrer every 5 referrals

  • Can Windscribe be added?

    URL format:
    https://windscribe.com/?friend=XXXXXXXX

    Benefits:
    * Refer a free user - you both get an extra 1GB per month
    * Friend upgrades to Pro, you also get Pro for free

    More info:
    https://windscribe.com/referafriend

    • Added.

      • Great! Thanks

  • Second take, please consider Powershop with $75 for referee and $75 for new members that signs up, full details can be found here: http://www.powershop.com.au/switch-your-mates/

    Thanks.

    • Here's the existing wiki. We are considering moving to the randomised system. I wonder why we have created it in the first place where people use PM to get the referral links? Don't want to show the link (which contains name) in public?

      • I actually searched PowerShop in the referral section and couldn't find it, hence the request, i didn't know the wiki existed. I understand that some people might have the full name in the referral link which why they would ask people to PM. The randomised system works well and is fair so it should be considered rather than msg and wait, anyhow thanks for the wiki link.

      • Edit: Existing customer has to submit email on the website. Not sure how some have got a link

        • Below are the steps, you are given a referal link to share with your "mates" they use that link to sign up and that's it?

1 Log in and refer your friends (we suggest you give them the heads up first).
2 Wait patiently while they follow the link you sent and fill in the sign-up form.
3 They become a Powershop customer.
4 $75 power credit lands in your Powershop account.

        • @radem12: ok, just checked now. Seems there is a new option to manually send a link, previously you could only enter an email address and they would send an email.

    • +1

Thanks. I've added that to the system and I'll migrate the existing links from wiki later today.

      • Nice! I've added mine, thanks Scotty!

  • Hi, can expressvpn be added. Someone asked for a referral in classifieds and I thought it may be useful.
Both get free 30days after signup.
    Cheers.

    • ExpressVPN unfortunately is permanently banned on OzBargain due to sockpuppeting.

      • Ok thanks for that.

  • hi,

could Alibonus be added (cash back from aliexpress -starts from 7% and up to 10%).

The URL format for the referral link:
    https://alibonus.com/?u=XXXXX (five numerals)

Benefit for referrer : "Get 20% of the cashback from each user that joined thanks to you." see between 1.4% - 2% cash back

  • Could Someone guide me how to post my referral link into the ozbargain system for my

AMEX PLATINUM CARD ( AMA branded)?

    Kind Regards

    • Go to My Account —> Settings —> Referrals and find "American Express - Platinum Card" for field to put your link into.

  • Thank you scotty!

  • Going insane here… all these comments about Automated Referral System… where is there a mention of WHAT it is!? If I click on links named as that it just takes me to the deal page :(

Someone …. WHAT IS the automated referral system and how do you use it!?

    • It's bolded in the 2nd paragraph of the text:

What we have done now is having a single place for you to put in all your referral codes. Go to your Settings page and click on the referrals tab.

The deal pages will also take you to the referral area where you can put your link in.

      • But what do you use when you sign up? That's what I was referring to.

        • Do you want to put your referral link in or are you wanting to use someone elses?

Each program differs. Uber offers $5 off towards referee's first ride and $5 off towards referrer's next ride after referee's first ride. Your referral link can be found in the app and on their website if you login.

        • @neil: Trying to signup for Amex Explorer card and want to get the bonus from using a referral. I ended up finding it by just searching all over the pages. Even though the deal page for the Explorer card had referrals for completely unrelated David Jones cards, when I hit More then it was listed there.

Can't the deal page just have:
          <Referral link here>
          ??

        • @yanman:

American Express. Typing American Express in the search box will bring you to this page.

Click the grey box, then click Show more.

          Select Amex Explorer.

American Express has 12 cards which carry referral links. Unfortunately when someone posts a deal, it isn't clear which card it is for, so all of them are shown on a deal & the store page.

    • Added. We'll see whether the referral campaign continues after 22 July.

  • Stacksocial needs to be altered, both referrer and referee get $10 credit

    • They also seem to have changed the format of their referral link, which rendered all previous referral entries unusable. I have updated the link + description, but have to also expire all previous links.

      • Ak k, can you update when you've expired the links so we can update ours? :)

        • Actually I took a another look at the referral links — I think I misread it so all the previous links are fine. False alarm.

        • @scotty:

          All good :)

  • can we not see all the referrals and choose one? all random now? for Ex. Uber, i click on link and gives me all posts about uber… not the list of referral names…

    Format is https://www.youneedabudget.com/referral/?ref=

    • That's been added. Link

  • Regarding to posting referral links in the deals, here is the latest update on policy. Basically allowing referral links in the post is messy, having referral links in wiki is difficult to manage and prone to abuse. We will be consolidating to random referral only.

What happened with the Velocity Frequent Flyer referrals? I didn't even know i had my referral but got a system message saying it had expired. It said to enter it again by clicking the link but cant find where Velocity has gone

It also said it had been clicked 3 times but i never got any referral bonuses.

    • Original Deal required referee to not only sign up but also earn a minimum of 40 Velocity Points by
30 April 2017. I reckon the 2nd part eliminated a lot of people from collecting the referral.

Since the deal expired April 30, Velocity was removed from the system however a reminder was but shouldn't have been sent out since it is inactive. The links must have been set to expire at 3 months.

  • Could 1 be added for Travelsim?

$10 credit to both referee & referrer?

    • travelsim.net.au?. Do you have a link?

      • I think it's First name + Last initial

So if the user's name is the name he gave to Travel sim

        Willy Orwontee's code would be

        WillyO

        • I can't see where you enter a code in when checking out nor if you want to create a new account. Any ideas?

        • @Willy Orwontee:

OK, that has been added. Thanks.

  • perhaps expire referral codes (and send a reminder every year to easily renew) every year to remove dead codes?

  • Mods please add in the Aussie Broadband into the referral system. It requires you to enter in a user id into the referrer field and is only code based and not link.

    Referrer: Get a free month
    Referee: Get a free month.

This stacks with the whirlpool deal.

    • It's been added now, however it appears to be only 1 month for the referrer, nothing for the referee (their 1 month free comes from the promo code).

      • The point is moot now but I should correct this.

Both refer a friend and whirlpool trial provide a free month for the referee but that term doesn't stack so you only get one free month. Also the refer a friend program has no expiry date unlike the whirlpool deal which is 30 days after the POI is upgraded which is admittedly a few months away.

        • Thanks for clarifying, handy to know regardless or on the off chance something changes in the future.

    • Unfortunately we have to disable the Aussie Broadband referral system as Aussie Broadband has requested to remove it, being in violation to fair play policy of their refer a friend program.

    • I'm curious what's the difference between ING Direct Referral scheme vs Aussie Broadband Referral scheme. Why was Aussie Broadband deleted but not ING Direct especially since ING Direct specifically state in there terms & conditions that it's not allowed to be posted on Ozbargain.

Is it because ING hasn't reached out to Ozbargain to delete it while Aussie Broadband has?

Also it seems that Aussie Broadband has put in a new condition:

***It is against our refer-a-friend policy to publish your customer number on a referral code website.
If you do this, we will permanently remove your access to the refer-a-friend program.

Which wasn't there as shown on the Google webcache ( which should be dated Jun 30th )

Before innnocent OzBargain users gets their refer a friend condition terminated Ozbargain moderators may wish to get others to get a copy of google webcache.

      • If ING Direct contacted us, we will most likely have to remove that as well.

  • Back to the Amex Referrals again… I know this is probably a nuisance more than anything, and probably way down on the priority queue, but is there a way for the poster to choose which referral applies to a particular deal when a store has multiple types? E.g. right now it seems that all Amex deals just display the DJ's Amex referral, e.g.

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/290116

Even though the deal is for the Platinum Edge.

  • Hi, this might have been covered already but when I clicked ~10 times (through different browsers) on the random Amex Velocity Platinum card for referral i am forwarded to the same CPID=100204836 in 8 out of 10 times even though there are 198 referral codes, is this a known bug?

What would help is to link the site page where i clicked on the random link and it's the amex home page for referals: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/deals/americanexpress.com#refin…

    • It looks like CPID is the card ID, so it's normal that it's constant. The code that starts with AAA before that in the link will be unique to the users referral link.

      • I've done a little bit more research and the CPID i think related to the campaign ID and the link for the velocity platinum card has a different campaign code I assume the code when it was originally created. Not sure how that affects the referral program. Thanks Hamza.

  • The Amaysim referral allows you to create a personalised link. But OzBargain isn't accepting personalised codes in the field (e.g. mine is "twitter" - yes, really). Can this be changed? I can't seem to change my referral code back to the automatically generated one on the Amaysim site.

    • Any example? Still in the format of http://amaysi.ms/r/... ?

      • It doesn't have the /r/…
http://amaysi.ms/twitter is the link that they give me.

        Screenshot:
        https://www.dropbox.com/s/n39q5stvpkc9qt7/amaysim.png?dl=0

        • That would certainly make our implementation a lot more difficult, because there are basically two rules for referral links (with or without /r/) and we cannot force prefix /r/ on all existing referral codes as we do not allow path separator (/) in the code.

Best to ask amaysim to revert your referral link?

        • @scotty:

          OK no worries.

  • Hi, I have a referral link for Chatbooks that gives the new user $8 credit which equates to a free softcover photobook. Is this something that can be added? Am I able to then list a deal about it? Thanks.

    • What does the referrer get?

Is the URL format http://invite.chatbooks.com/xxxx ?

      • Hi thanks Neil.

        The referrer gets $5 credit.

That's correct for the URL format.

        Thanks.

        • OK, that has been added to the system.

You may post it as a deal as per the guidelines. Note that referral links are not permitted anywhere so just only need to mention the deal is available via the referral system (grey box below deal).

  • Hi can we add 'I Want One Of Those (IWOOT)' to the referral system please.

    The link format is https://www.iwantoneofthose.com/referrals.list?applyCode=MRU…

Referee gets 25% off first order
    Referrer gets £10 store credit.

    Thanks

    • OK, that has been added. Is there a URL for the referral page or is it under a section in the account section?

  • Hi. Has rocketmiles been previously been considered?
    format: https://www.rocketmiles.com/refer/xxxxx

    • What does the referral program do?

      • Hi. Site allows users to earn frequent flyer points (users can choose which type - most relevant to Oz users would be Singapore, Emirates, Etihad, AA).

For the referrer - Existing customers can get 1,000 miles/points for every unique friend they refer who signs up using the referral link and completes a stay with us. Once available, these referral reward(s) are posted upon completion of the referrer's next stay.
For the friend - The friend also earns a 1,000 sign-up bonus, rewarded upon completion of their first stay

        • OK, that has been added.

        • @neil: thanks neil!

  • Hi Neil

    Have we considered instarem ?
    https://www.instarem.com/ReferAFriend
Am I allowed to post a deal about this?

    • Instarem is unfortunately banned on OzBargain due to previous spams.

  • Hi,

Huddle insurance has a referral program, see here:
    https://huddle.com.au/terms
    Under the "Free Insurance" heading.

There is no referral link, the referral code is applied on the 'Show Details' section of the quote once all the details have been entered in.
    https://huddle.com.au/car

Credit is applied once the person holds the policy for 30 days and can be used on future payments.

$50 goes to policy holder and $50 goes to referrer, other offers can also be available for the referrer such as additional $50 credit if the policy holder doesn't claim in the first year, but I think these add-ons may be targeted.

    • OK, that has been added.

  • How about coinjar ?

Invite your friends to join CoinJar and for each friend who signs up using your referral link and fully completes identity verification, you will earn 500 CoinJar Points. Your friend will also earn 500 CoinJar Points.

    coinjar.com

    • Unfortunately that store is permanently banned to to numerous SPAM posts.

      • ic. thanks neil!

    • Any idea what the referral looks like (code, link, etc.)?

      • Looks like you refer friends by entering their email address and they send a code (which appears to be the same code for all the friends you email). So the code is uniquely associated with your account.

        REFIZEWD4MYRZ

        • OK, that has been added. See here.

        • @neil:

          Thanks for that!

  • Hi team, can you please add Sync.com - I've done a heap of research and these Canadians seem to run a pretty great zero knowledge, fully encrypted cloud file hosting tool.

Their free package is 5GB and when you complete a few tasks (sharing, installing desktop app etc.), you get another 1GB for free - this is before any referrals.

Their referral program states: "When someone clicks on your link and creates a new Sync account you'll automatically get 1GB of free space (and so will they)!". And yes, it does work for free accounts.

    Thanks!

  • Hellofresh.com.au referrals

    Format

    https://www.hellofresh.com.au/offers/dlwffd/?c= XXXXXXX

E.g. in my case its: https://www.hellofresh.com.au/offers/dlwffd/?c=TODRO

To get the referral code you must go to https://www.hellofresh.com.au/account/referral/
(I was a new customer and noticed it came up while I was in checkout as a link up the top "free food")

    Details of benifit

Every HelloFresh customer has a unique code. Share your code to introduce someone new to HelloFresh, and we'll give your friend $50 off their first box! Every referral also scores you a $50 credit - all you have to do is jump into your account to claim it.

    Where’s the catch?

There are no limits to how often you can share your code and how many rewards you can claim. The only rule is that your voucher code cannot be used in conjunction with other promotions and discounts, and can be used by new customers only.

Can I post my voucher code on my website or blog?

Absolutely ! Anyone who might enjoy HelloFresh should hear about us and benefit from your recommendation. However, we ask that you please do not post your referral code to coupon and voucher websites.

How do my friends benefit from my referral?

Each of your friends who is using your voucher code as a first-time customer will receive a $50 discount on the first delivery. As soon as one of your friends signs up, we'll send you an email to let you know.

    • Sorry, Just saw the conversation above regarding hellofresh with scotty from a while back, as they might consider this site a voucher or coupon website…
Sad really as its much more than that to me…

  • Hi, can we add Boozebud to the referral system? I'm not sure given the nature of the referral mechanism so I will just spell it out below and let the mods decide:

The link format is https://www.boozebud.com/invite?c=budXXX however when you visit one of these pages (for example https://www.boozebud.com/invite?c=budABC) the page directs you to input the referral code "budABC" in the promo code box at checkout. It doesn't work via cookies. Also, only one promo code can be added in the checkout and generally I would expect Boozebud deals on OzBargain to be promo code related so in that case you can't have both the referral and deal codes stacked.

Referee get 15% off their first order
    Referrer gets $10 store credit.

    Here are Boozebud's 'Refer a Friend' T&Cs: https://www.boozebud.com/terms-and-conditions#tc-16

    Keen to hear your thoughts

    Thanks

  • How come my referral links for Qantas AMEX ultimate keep getting removed from my profile?
It’ll stay there for a week or so, then when I check back later it’s empty. What’s going on?
No problem with my David Jones AMEX.

    • You are putting you code next to all the Qantas cards — Discovery, Ultimate & Premium. So which one is it?

      • Hi Scotty. The referral link is valid for all 3 cards

        • FYI you're only allowed to choose one type, not all. That's a fair system, I think, given how many referrers there are for starters.

Up to you which type of card you gamble your referral link on.

      • This is still broken with referrals falling off every few days? Is OzBargain intentionally doing this to get their own kickbacks referring to AMEX like other sites do?

        • We get zero kick back from any of the referrals we send to those merchants — it's provided as a service for the members. We automated the process to remove duplicate referrals when the same AmEx link has been put in multiple products.

    • We have a script the runs weekly to remove any Amex referral codes that have been entered for the wrong card type. It turns out that for the Qantas Ultimate card, the text from the Amex site in a particular HTML tag has been mispelt on their site as 'Qantas American Express Ulimate card', so the script thought there was a product mismatch and removed the entry.

I will restore the ones incorrectly culled from last weekend (including yours) and also build in some tolerance in the text matching for the script so that it does not occur again.

As I'm not sure how long this tag has been mispelt for, it may be worth those with Qantas American Express Ultimate Card to re-enter your referral code if it was entered in the system earlier than 22 Oct 2017.

      • Thank you for properly looking in to this!

  • Hey mods,
I'm using Turo.com to rent a car in the states soon. It's similar to car next door, but better suited to travellers (airport pick ups etc).
    It's $25ea for a referral
    Format is https://turo.com/c/*

    • There aren't any existing deal on turo.com so we're won't add referrals for that for now.

      • Fair enough

  • Hi guys :)
TA just posted a deal on Zafuls and it looks like through referrals both the referrer and the referee will receive credit, plus you get discounts on sign up, lots of bargains to be had from the looks of things, in terms of quality I'll see when I get my goods.

referral link in found in "My Account"

A total of $45 coupons is our special way of saying thanks and rewarding you for spreading the world about Zaful. Also, each of your friends you invited to Zaful will receive a $10 coupon.""

I can't seem to copy mine out, but there are links to fb sharing and other social media sharing too.

    • It's added.

    • Zaful is now disabled. Have tested and don't see anywhere to refer a friend. Perhaps you can confirm?

  • Usenetbucket, gives referrer a free week added to their subscription, and the referee and free tidal week.

    Url is in the format
    https://www.usenetbucket.com//en-r/?u=xxxxx

Link was removed from a deal I posted. Thought referral links were OK for stuff that wasn't yet in the referral wiki

Based on the following extract from the wiki about referral links:
"If you have a referral link or code for a deal you are posting AND it is not in the automated system, please add it to the bottom of your post & a moderator will add it into the referral system (and remove it from your post)."

    • That has been added.

    • UsenetBucket has been disabled as there are no entries in the referral system.

  • The above post had a generic referral link showing the template.

    • Republished. The system auto-removed it.

      • Thanks

      • Added some additional info and it auto hid it again

Not sure why the referral link was removed from the original deal posting though

        • Referral links are not permitted in posts or comments. It was removed and now added into referral system. Thanks.

  • -1

Why has the prezzee referral been removed mods

  • Would it be possible to add https://www.parabo.press/ ? My code is MARCUS to get $10 off your first order

    • OK, that has been added and looks like they must have had a search alert as they've posted their 1st deal.

  • +1

Hi admins, on amex referral links, what are your thoughts on removing the current system of having pre entered URLs (i.e. http://amex.com.au/refer/XXXXX) and changing this to allow us to enter our own full URL? Reason is each AMEX link (i.e. for a AMEX plat edge) actually has links to other AMEX cards (i.e. Amex explorer, platinum, essentials etc). The static links would only allow us to enter one product when multiple cards are valid with different URLs.

    • Bump?

    • Where do you get the other referral codes for other cards from? I'm just looking at the refer page for my Plat Edge now and it only lets me refer another Plat Edge.

      • It's not a different code but the same. If you go to the url you should see more cards at the bottom. For example I have a play edge card and I can see referral links for explorer and plat at the bottom of the page. So rather than the code being different it's the url that changes

        • We are only allowing referrals for the exact product that referrers are card owner for. This makes it fairer. You can enter more referrals only if you have more than 1 card. This will not be changing from our point of view.

Not only that, our system will cull any referral links that go to a different card (even if it's the one that is at the bottom of the referral page). So there is no point entering the same code for multiple cards.

  • Hi, wondering if we can add Society6 for referrals.

I saw a deal posted today and there have been previous too which seem to get a bit of love.

    Format:
    https://share.society6.com/x/zzzzzz?curator=xxxxxxxxxxxx

There are two programs, one is a 'referral'(z above). One is 'curator'(x above). These are primarily used by artists on the site but open to any user.

    Benefit for referees:
US $10 off their first purchase (over US $40)(referral)

    Benefit for referrers:
US $10 for each person referred (referral)
A small calculated percentage of the purchase price - no extra cost to buyer (curator)

There are often sales but some are better than others which I will share as they arise. Users also sometimes get codes for private sales and links, happy to share these as they come up.

    Thanks

    • So just https://share.society6.com/x/zzzzzz should work? We can only set 1 customisable parameter.

      • Okay- in that case yes that would be correct. Thanks

        • OK, that has been added.

  • Can we add SkyRoam global wifi hot spot please?

    Format:
    http://skyroaminc.refr.cc/xxxxxxx

The recipient gets $20 off a SkyRoam device, the referrer gets 2 days free access

    Tim

    • The code for referrees is Friend20 so the referral system only benefits the referrer. There haven't been any deals posted for Skyroam so at this point we won't add it to our referral system. If this changes, then we can add it.

  • I got this email, maybe I should add it as a deal??

"As the fall weather arrives and your itinerary fills up with end of year plans, don't miss an opportunity to get free global WiFi for your upcoming trips. With the holiday just around the corner, don't you want you and your loved ones to stay connected anywhere they go? With 100+ countries of coverage and WiFi usable on up to 5 gadgets, Skyroam was made for sharing!

Give $20 off Skyroam Global Hotspot or Skyroam Solis to friends & family, and be rewarded with 2 free days of unlimited WiFi for each new customer you refer!"

    • Sure but referral links are not permitted in deals. All you need is the code Friend20 for the referee to get $20 off. Also make sure to include prices or any other details that would be helpful.

  • I'd like to suggest adding CMC markets: https://www.cmcmarkets.com/en-nz/refer-a-friend

"Introduce someone to CMC Markets and we'll give both of you a $250 bonus when they trade on a CFD account with us.*"

I go my referral code and it goes something like this: http://cmc.mk/XXXXXX, the X'es being your unique code

  • Guys Please add Orbit Remit,
Decent exchange rates and also decent referral payout.

    This deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/336265

They were cheaper than Transferwise which was the best so far in exc rates. And if you do please add my link too :)

    https://orbitremit.com/r/xxxxxx

    thx

Invite three friends and earn $150
We will pay $150 direct to your bank account for every three friends who sign up and complete a payment.

    • OK, that has been added.

  • +1

I would like to suggest adding Uniti Wireless:

Refer new customers to us and once they are successfully installed, you will earn and accrue CommUniti Dollars (CUD$). Each successful referral adds CUD$50 CommUniti Dollars to your Account. Build up or use your CUD$’s as credits on your monthly bill, or spend them on service add-ons. (1 x CommUniti Dollar (CUD$) = AUD$1.00)

Every customer you refer also SAVES $$$! All connected referees receive CUD$50 in their Account on sign-up! What a great way to incentivise your friends and networks to make the switch to Uniti.

That’s the equivalent of saving 50% OFF Residential Activation!

  • Hi

I had a great experience with Naritas recently and would highly recommend others try it. Can you add them to the referral system?

Instructions to get referral link: https://www.naritas.com.au/latest-news/refer-a-friend-you-bo…
Benefit for referees and referrers: both get a $50 Woolworths eGift card when the loan is settled (currently it needs to settle by 31 Dec 2017, I'm not sure what the program will look like after this)
How to enter the referral: input the 15 character code into the “Agent/Referrer/Promotional Code” section when contacting Naritas (https://www.naritas.com.au/contact-us/enquiry-form/#.WfF0llu…)

    Cheers

    • That has been added. Naritas

  • Hi there,

Can a UBER Driver referral be added?

    https://www.uber.com/a/signup/drive/deliver/?70307t=&invite_…

    • What are the benefits for referrers/referees?

      • Varies for referrers: lowest I've seen is $75 and highest is $200 but heard of amounts up to $900

Referrees, it's unclear if any amount is paid directly by UBER

        • Given the lack of clarity of what either party receives, we'll probably pass on this for the time being. At this point, it's probably more beneficial to use Cashrewards and gain $105. If their system becomes more transparent in the future, then we can revisit.

  • I'd like to suggest Canningvale.

The URL format for the referral link:
    http://canningvale.refr.cc/XXXXXX

Friends get 20% off full priced items. Referrers earn store credit when their friend spends over $50. I haven't found any details on how the credit amount is calculated. https://www.canningvale.com/refer-a-friend/

    • I've queried them and will find out more details.

      • OK, they responded and updated their website.

Referrer gets 150 coins for referring a new member. $5 store credit is 250 coins. Referees get 10% off coupon.

Can you log into your account and tell me what the referral link looks like?

  • Can we get OFO please (another bikeshare company - I think the largest in the world):

Format is https://onecommon.ofo.com/helloworld/misc-pages/invite/index… where X's are the referral code obtained from the app.

For example, my referral code is:
    https://onecommon.ofo.com/helloworld/misc-pages/invite/index…

I am unsure what the exact benefit is but I think it's one free ride for referrer and referee.

    • Basically you don't need a link but just a coupon code? Actually I tried to sign up with your code and it's not working.

      • Must be, I haven't used their referral system before - the invite page has a sharable linka nd a code. You must have to enter it in the promo code section.

      • Ah yes, just clicked the link :S - I may have to actually make a ride first

    • Anyway, I have added it so you can put your invitation code there now.

  • Could you please consider adding scribd.com.

Referred friend receives two months free (normal free trial length is one month). Referrer has their subscription extended by one month.

    Referral link format https://www.scribd.com/g/XXXXXX

    • That has been added. Scribd

  • Merged from AmEx Ref Link Format Changed?

    Hi there,

it seems as if the format for AmEx ref links has changed. I cannot enter the new ref link in my 'referral settings'. It says "Referral

  • Can we consider fantastic services group. Referfal and referee both get $15 off booking.
They also have a current promo of 10% off cleaning services using code OBD10
    Referal format https://accounts.fantasticservicesgroup.com.au/referral/user…

    • OK, that has been added. Store page.

  • Is anyone else noticing issues with the Booking.com referrals? I'm sure over the past few weeks I've had to update my referral code here as the code is different to what booking.com shows.

I haven't tracked/recorded if the booking.com code is changing, or for some reason the code here on OzBargain is resetting

    • THe link has changed but the code is unchanged

    • It's Booking.com, mine has changed from 21_8 to 44_6 and then the username. However, the referral link still works. Maybe we'll expire them and get people to put in their new links.

      • Just to update this, we expired all of the links the other day and we've now set them on a 180 day expiry. I'll monitor the links periodically to see if they change.

  • Hi,

    Can you please add MyUS.com.
Referrals via email etc seem to have unique codes for each invitee but there is an option to share via link from the app.

    https://m.imgur.com/a/M2cLF

    Thanks

    • So $10 for the referrer, 20% off 1st shipment for referee.

What do the links look like? What happens when you click the refer via Facebook?

      • Want to shop online but US stores won't ship to you? Get a MyUS address and you can shop virtually any store. We'll forward your packages to you fast and for cheap!
        https://www.myus.com/signup/?aid=1005127&ReferId=oeOkjCvOXWI…

        • Whoops, just realised the system auto-unpublished this comment. Are both aid and ReferID different for each person?

  • A deal has recently been posted for Everlane, which has a referral system but only the referrer benefits (store credit). Would it still be eligible to be added? The details: "Receive $25 of credit when friends make their first purchase." Referral format: https://www.everlane.com/r/XXXXXXX

  • Please add Vistaprint to the referral list.

    The referral URL format:
http://reward.vistaprint.com/go.axd?ref=xxxxxx (xxxxxx is unique numeric code).

    Referral links found here:
    https://reward.vistaprint.com/vistaprint?culture=en-AU

    Benefit for the referrers:
$30 voucher for every referree who makes an order of at least $60.
Voucher codes expire after one year.
    https://reward.vistaprint.com/Refer/Terms?key=4c491a42-01fd-…

    • Just realised we didn't respond to this but it was added into the system in December-ish. Vistaprint.

  • Please add GoCatch

"Referrals are Back! Give $5, Get $10.

Help your friends and family beat the surge with GoCatch and get $10 credit on us! When your refer a new passenger they'll get $5 off their first trip, and after they take 3 trips you'll get $10 credit.

To find your Referral code, open the GoCatch app and tap Menu > Share"

  • Could you add GoCatch?
Unfortunately there's no referral URL, you need to download the app on your phone and then enter the code manually.

You can find your referral code by opening the app and tapping Menu > Share.
It will be a five letter code.

When you refer a new passenger they'll get $5 off their first trip, and after they take 3 trips you'll get $10 credit.

    • I have re-enabled the GoCatch referral. It was disabled since July as it was not working back then. The referral bonus has also reduced from $15 to $5.

      • Fantastic. Thanks for doing that so quickly. :-)

  • Please add RY.com.au
A great one for the ladies!!
10% off your first order over $50
    No declared end date
Sell great products like ghd, sigma, elf, parlux, becca, ardell, manic panic, Moroccanoil

    • $5 to referer and 10% for referee

    • ry.com.au referral has been set up.

  • Would you consider adding setapp.com? It's a subscription service for macOS that includes access to a variety of quality apps

    • Hi. As there's currently no deal on OzBargain that's related to setapp.com, the answer is "likely not". You might also want to include the benefit for referrers / referees, and how can someone obtain a referral link/code.

      • The referrer gets a free month towards their subscription for each person they refer.

It doesn't appear that the person being referred gets anything special.

        Code is available at https://my.setapp.com/referral

  • Could you add kobo ebooks to the referral system?

    Code is available at https://www.kobo.com/au/en/p/share

Link is of the form http:// share. kobo. com/ x/ LtfyOl

    Referree gets $5 account credit
    Referrer gets $10 account credit

      • Nice, thanks Scotty

  • Thanks mighty ozb mods for adding the ridge to the referrals system.

Was reading up on how to add domain when it all just worked. Amaze balls

  • Can you add Flixiroam to the referrals?

    Website: www.flexiroam.com

    Format http://roam.my/XXXXXXXX

100Mb free worldwide data to the referer and referee.

    • That has been added. Flexiroam. I've set it to expire the codes every 6 months.

      • Nice one Neil!

  • Can you please add Energy Locals?

    Format of referral link: https://save.energylocals.com.au/my-friend-sent-me-here/?cam…

The referral link will be emailed about a week after signing up with Energy Locals.

Referrer gets $50 off their next electricity bill while the referee gets lower electricity bills.

    • As there hasn't been a deal posted for Energy Locals and the only benefit is to referrers, we won't be adding them to our system. If there are deals posted then we can revisit this.

    • That has been added with a 12 month expiry on codes. Vistaprint.

  • +1

Can you please add Binance (cryptocurrency exchange) to the referral list?

    The referral URL format:
https://www.binance.com/?ref=xxxxxxxx (xxxxxxxx is unique numberic code)

    Benefit for referrers:
50% of trading fees of Binance New Users

    • As there are no deals posted for binance.com except for referral spam, and there is no benefit for the referee, we won't be adding this.

  • Could you please include thinx?

    here's the referral page: https://www.shethinx.com/pages/get10?utm_source=FBIG&utm_cam…

"Every time someone buys through you, you both get $10 of THINX cred—and unlimited street cred for being a taboo-breaking G."

and the referral code is something like this: http://ref.thinxify.me/XXXXX

  • Could you please post Thinx?

Every time someone buys through you, you both get $10 of THINX cred—and unlimited street cred for being a taboo-breaking G.

    https://www.shethinx.com/pages/get10?utm_source=FBIG&utm_cam…

    • That has been added. THINX

  • Please can you add Tortuga Backpacks - #1 for travel backpacks

"When your friend buys through your link, we'll send each of you a $20 credit as a thank you."

    https://tortuga.referralcandy.com/

Looks like it is tied to your email address?

    • That has been added. Tortuga Backpacks.

      • Thank you!

In the link below, do I put my email address? (as I believe that is how they associate the purchased)

        http://tortuga.refr.cc/

        • You've put in the wrong parameter. Once you add your email address to that page, you need to take the link they provide you.

        • @neil:

          Got it now, thanks! :)

  • Can you please add runningheroes?

    Website: https://au.runningheroes.com/

    Format: https://au.runningheroes.com/?r=1&code=XXXX

A referral is valid when your friend has connected at least one tracking application.
For each valid referral, you and your friend will receive 5 bonus coins.

Get a free Running Heroes t-shirt when you refer 10 mates.

    • That has been added. Running Heroes.

    • Now disabled due to no referrers in the system.

  • Would like to request a Perth food delivery service called YouPlateIt (similar to HelloFresh but preferred by our family)

    Format: https://youplateit.com.au/####/ (4 characters)

Benefit: Give 50 - Get 50 ($50 for referrer and referee. Sign up for a household's first box and new customers only. Multiple credits can be earned by referring multiple friends)

Find your code: Log in and access https://youplateit.com.au/refer-a-friend/

  • I submitted runningheroes above but comment got falsely flagged for referral link. Can someone fix it? Thanks.

    • Sure, republished.

  • Hi Neil,

Could we please change the format for Institchu referral links.

The updated link is http:// fbuy.me/###### (5 characters)

    These are the conditions. https://www.institchu.com/refer-a-friend

Benefit: Give 50 - Get 50 ($50 for referrer and referee)

    Many thanks in advance.

    • That's been updated. Institchu

  • The Belong Broadband format needs to be updated.
It appears they have changed the format so you now need to type in the referral code during sign up.

    • When I check in my Belong Offers page the format hasn't changed. Still using the format "https://www.belong.com.au/iaf?promocode=XXXXXXXXX" as per the OzB referral system

      • So all referral links lead to https://www.belong.com.au/broadband/iaf in the final URL but that page says:

Great news! You’ve been introduced to us by a friend and that means you’ll score a sweet $20 off your first invoice – simply use your friend’s promo code during sign up.

On the last step of the signup is a promo code box which isn't auto-filled in. So you're both right. Yes, the referral scheme SHOULD be the link however the code in the URL is not being auto-filled at the final step. Have tested on a few links. However, if you take that promo code from the URL and enter it in the promo box you get:

        PROMO CODE APPLIED:
Once your service has been activated you will receive $20 off your first monthly bill.

Seems like this would catch a lot of people out so better we change to code from URL. I can do this shortly unless there is feedback saying otherwise.

        • I think you're right neil

        • @tomclancy:

OK, Belong has been changed to codes. Belong

        • @neil: Thanks Neil

        • The referral code is just the link. I've successfully just used the link to sign up referring my friends to it. I don't need to add in the promo code.

  • Latest deal for Boxlots - the referrals say 10% off but it’s actually 5%

    • Thanks, this was just updated.

  • Would you add GiggedIn — referrer gets $10 toward their membership, and the referee gets 50% off their first month.

The format is: https://www.giggedin.com/?referral=############## (14 characters) - (example)

    • That's been added. I've set expiry to 90 days to ensure the referrers have active accounts. Hopefully won't be too many 1 month hit and runners.

      GiggedIn

      • Cheers!

    • GiggedIn has now been removed as there are no referrals in the system.

  • Could Freelancer.com be added please?

    Format: https://www.freelancer.com.au/get/#######

Where the hashes are replaced with username.

Referrer and referee get US$20 credit.

  • Can hopstohome.com.au be added to the list pls?

    • As there haven't been any hopstohome deals posted AND the referral only benefits the referrer, we won't be adding it into the referral system at this time.

  • I guess "The Home" can be removed now they have moved the site over to Catch

    • Ah yeah, good point. That's now been disabled.

  • Hey guys,

    Could you consider adding:

    • Westfund Health Insurance - https://www.westfund.com.au/refer/

      Appears to be expired.

Offer valid until December 31, 2017

      ..

      Parkhound

As there have been no deals and this only benefits the referrer, we won't be adding this to the system at this point.

      Anytime Fitness

      What is their referral program?

      • The Westfund rerreal is back. https://www.westfund.com.au/refer/

Refer a Friend to Westfund and you’ll both receive a $100* egift card.

        Mod: Removed referral solicitation

        • That's been added. Given the referrer has to fill out a form with the friends contact details, it has been set as a private message referral. Westfund Health Insurance

  • Please include Tipple

"Share your referral code with mates and we’ll give you $10 credit when they place their first order…""

    T&C

    • That's been added. Tipple.

  • Can you please update the referral for the amex explorer card given that the offer is now 100,000 points

    • Updated. Any idea what the referrer gets?

I'll go through the others to make sure they are correct as well.

  • Taxify referral credit has increased to $10.

    • Still showing Give $5, get $5 for my app. Different amounts for different users? I haven't used Taxify yet.

      • Yes, it must vary per User. Don't know the logic behind it (yet).

        • Have you taken a ride with them yet?

  • Hi, I'd like to suggest adding buzztelco referrals

The URL format for the referral link - Use referral code when signing up

Instructions to get the referral link - Emailed to current customers

Benefit for the referrers and referees - $20 account credit for both referee and referrer

    Announcement of this here: http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=2704027&p…

    Cheers!

    • Looking at recent comments, seems like it's just a number. If this isn't the case, please let us know. Have added it.

      Buzz Telco

  • Could you please add bulk nutrients.
    Referral link http://i.refs.cc/25QNMaoS?u=1518241067169
$5 each for referee and referrer.

Let me know if you need anything else.

    • That's been added. You don't need actually need the u=part of the URL.

      Bulk Nutrients

  • It looks like Canningvale.com's referral URL format has changed.

It now looks like this: http://i.refs.cc/Io5t1ASB?u=1518410267411

At the moment clicking a referral link on OzBargain takes you to a site called ReferralCandy, as opposed to the Canningvale website.

    • That's been updated. I've had to remove the u= from people's referrals for the link to work. While your link is still in there yolohobo, I've inadvertently removed a few users. Best to add your links back in without the u=.

      Canningvale

  • Could Ola.com be added please? Do they need to have a link or can I use a coupon code instead?

    Format: Coupon code

    Details: https://help.olacabs.com/support/dreport/205030482

Referrer and referee get AU$15 credit on first trip.

    Thanks

    • That's been added.

      Ola

    • Ola has now been switched off as it appears they no longer have a referral program due to not have a referral feature in their app currently.

  • Consideration for Meccamino.com.au

Benefit for the referrers and referee:

    Referrers
$10 of value in Meccalira loyalty points for every successful referral, capped at first 5 referrals.

    Referee
$10 of value in Meccalira loyalty points which will be credited once their first order has been shipped.

How can a user obtain his/her referral link / code

On every product page there is a refer a friend box with a code like:
    https://meccamino.com.au/join-me/a/XXXX/shop/c4-original-60-servings

Where XXXX is the user's ID. This is only visible when a user is logged in.
The user can also link a generic link to the shopfront rather than a product using: https://meccamino.com.au/join-me/a/XXXX/shop/

    • That has been added. Meccamino

    • As there is no one currently in the system and you, as the rep, haven't been online for 2 years, we have removed this from the system.

  • Fiverr? Referrer gets $5 of credit. CR offers cashback on first orders too.

    • Due to Fiverr being blocked, we won't be adding it to the referral system.

  • Could you please add gate.io to the available referrals? Details are:

    URL Format: https://gate.io/signup/xxxxx
Instructions to get referral link: Go to https://gate.io/myaccount/myreferrals and copy the unique link.
Benefit for referees: They sign up using your referral code, they get 10% off discount on all their trading fees for 12 months.
Benefit for referrers: You receive 30% of all their trading fees for 12 months.

    • Sorry we'll only set up referral with existing interest from wider community. In the case of gate.io, there has been no deal in the past, no forum discussion either.

  • We have just sent through a mass-expiring of Cashrewards referral links. If you last updated your Cashrewards referral link more than 90 days ago, you'll need to enter that again, due to referral link changes at Cashrewards late last year / early this year, which might be the cause many referrals not attributed.

  • Please can Vaya be added.

Refer a friend to Vaya and get $15 credit on your Vaya account.

When your friend signs up online, have them enter your mobile number in the "How did you hear about us?" section of the purchase funnel.

Once your mate's service is activated, you'll receive a $15 credit on your Vaya account

    • It would require the referrer to put in his/her phone number on OzBargain. Even though for other users it might appear to be randomised, but people might still not be comfortable with it.

      • Could you please make it like ING referrals, where people message to obtain it.

I have a data only plan with them, so the phone number to be used is not really a phone number.

  • Has the way referral codes are saved and displayed on Referrals page been changed? Under my account, I can't see the actual referral codes I've put in. All saved codes now show ReferralID in the entry box.

    • It should be fixed now. Issues with upgrade script this morning.

  • I was never able to find a referral link from Lifx. Today I think they launched?? Well first time I have seen it … a new points based system where you get discount credit by giving them details, follow on Facebook, Instagram and making purchases etc etc. https://www.lifx.com.au/pages/rewards

As part of this they also have a referral link which takes people to a page to register as reccomended by you and they get a discount on purchase the link generated is like this https://first.collectapps.io/Portal/Custom/GetCoupon/5ab0af2…
(Where xxx is my code I'm guessing)

So I'm wondering if the other system listed in Ozb is old and this is the new? In any case I have never seen a link like in the current referral information in an email from Lifx.

    • Looks like they've changed the referral system. With the link you provided it seems the code after GetCoupon contains the referrer account information so I guess we can change to everything after that. So referee gets 10% off their first purchase, what does the referrer get?

      • Not as much :) but its in 'Points' (500) which can be redeemed as cash off a sale 500 points = $5. Here is the list off the 'loyalty' page.

        Create an account
        +100 points

        Make an order
        1 points per $1.00

        Complete profile
        +50 points

        On your birthday
        +200 points

        Share us on Facebook
        +10 points

        Like us on Facebook
        +10 points

        Follow us on Twitter
        +10 points

        Follow us on Instagram
        +50 points

        Refer a friend
        +500 points

        Review a product
        250 points - Max 1/month

        • OK, that's been updated. Lifx.

I've set expiry for April 3 which will notify everyone to update their code and remove all links older than 7 days (time of this post).

  • I'm not affiliated with Activated Nutrients, I just like their products.

    https://activatednutrients.com/

    Referral format:
    activatednutrients.refr.cc/

Each customer gets their own referral link when they make a purchase/sign up.

    Benefit is:
Give your friends 20% off all products, get 20% off all products!

    • activatednutrients.refr.cc/[unique referral code]

    • That's been added. Activated Nutrients.

    • Have disabled. Links don't seem to work anymore. If there is an updated link structure, please let us know.

  • Hello, apologies if this has been covered, what about Mungi, https://my.mungi.com.au/aff.php?aff=xx

xx = i assume if the customer referall code?

  • The information on the Uniti Wireless page (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/deals/unitiwireless.com) is incorrect. It's a $50 credit for both the referrer and the referee. The $200 EFTPOS card was a promo which has expired.

    • Thanks. That has been updated.

  • Hi Mod,

Can you please update my previous referral code info. I've just received an email from Ola with a better offer per below.

    Could Ola.com

    Format: Coupon code

    Details: https://help.olacabs.com/support/dreport/205030482

Referrer and referee get AU $30 credit on first trip. After referee takes their first trip they receive and additional 2 free trips.

    Thanks

    • Does everyone get $30 or do they have different referral levels?

      • You may be right that only certain people receive the $30 credit. Might need some new people to test it before changing it on ozbargain.

        Hi User,
Thank you for riding with Ola!
We want to tell you more about our limited period Customer Referral Program. Ask your friends to signup with your referral code. For each friend who registers using your code, both of you get a free ride voucher worth $30.
        What you need to do:

Tap on the ‘Refer and Earn’ option on the Menu to see your referral code
Start referring by inviting your friends to register on the Ola app with your code
Your friend needs to use your referral code at signup to get a free ride voucher worth $30
You get your free ride voucher worth $30 when your friend completes the first ride
Upon completing first ride, your friend also gets 2 additional free ride vouchers!

        • Oh actually, looks like my app says $30 as well. Never used the service and don't think the referral tab was there before.

          Has been changed to $30/$30.

  • Please consider AIRoboform aka Roboform.

    https://www.roboform.com/
    RoboForm Password Manager
You’ll never need to remember or type your passwords again.

IMHO best password tool / Form Filler out there.
Been paying/using it for 5 ish years.

They have a few worthwhile deals

Our Referral Program provides a great opportunity:

If one of your friends clicks on your referral link and purchases RoboForm Everywhere:
    • We will give them 6 additional months for FREE.
    • Also, we will extend your RoboForm Everywhere subscription by 6 months for FREE.

    https://online.roboform.com/login?authReturnUrl=pums_rf_refe…

    • That has been added. Roboform.

  • Hi, I am surprised that this well established company is not yet listed on your referral page…I use them 2-3 year for at least the past ten years.
    1 Cover Travel Insurance
    https://www.1cover.com.au/

referral format - https://www.1cover.com.au/?rafID=[insert 6 digit numeric string]

    What do we get?
Get A $20 Gift Card For Every Friend Your Refer
Do you know someone who is travelling soon? Tell them about 1Cover and we'll send you a $20 Gift card for every person who buys a policy.

When you purchase a policy we'll send you an email containing your unique link. Send this link to a friend and if they purchase we'll email you with an option of gift cards. Please note you won't receive this email for at least 14 days after your friend purchases to ensure their policy is outside the cooling off period.

    • Is this still being considered? Or missed in the review?

    • That's been added. 1 Cover. I was going to ask if this can be combined with coupon codes but looks like they aren't offering them any more.

      • 1Cover has now been disabled due to no one in the referral system.

  • Please Consider adding:

Want another chance to earn rewards with Purkle?

Share the Purkle experience with your friends and family this month for your chance to win a $100 Prepaid VISA card . You will earn one entry into the draw for every friend and/or family member who joins Purkle.

Simply copy and paste this referral link to your own website, blog, social media, or directly to friends.

    https://www.purkle.com.au/ReferaFriend.aspx?p=rf

    • As Purkle is a survey website and won't have any deals posted for it, we won't add that one sorry. The referral is also an entry for a prize only and no benefit for the referee.

      • Thankyou for considering and quick feedback

  • Referral info for 'usenetbucket' shows ' + free tidal week' at the end, which is not something that has anything to do with the usenetbucket referral program.
Might want to edit it to remove that.

"Referrer and referee get 7 days added to their subscription + free tidal week."

    • Thanks. That's been updated.

  • Could you please add Mobvoi to the referral list? (They make the Ticwatch android wear smartwatch)

Acquiring the code: Having made an order & being a customer, enter your email address here: https://www.mobvoi.com/pages/referral

    URL format: http://en.ticwear.com/pages/share-referral?referral_code=XXX…
Benefit for referrer: $20 credit for the Mobvoi store
Benefit for referee: $20 off first Ticwatch purchase

    • That's been added. Mobvoi

      • Thanks for that!
Looks like it's redirecting to the au.mobvoi.com domain which has an issue with the referral page for some reason, i'll send them an email to see if they can fix it.

        • Hmm, yeah. Seems to be doing some redirect at the end. Let us know what they say.

        • @neil:
After a confusing exchange with a low level support staff member who didn't seem to have any idea, it looks like they might have fixed it now?

Except the referral awards have changed too, so perhaps they were working on it:

"Give your friends 10% off their Ticwatch and you will get 8% in return."

        • @leonardr:

OK, thanks for clearing that up. Have updated.

  • hi,

cash rebate site Alibonus has been absorbed by Megabonus.com

    please remove alibonus

    and add megabonus.com

    thank you

    • OK, that has been done and switched off Alibonus referrals. MEGABONUS. Do they have a referral program?

      • Yes, they have a referral system

  • Hi Mod,

Would you be able to add Dog Foodz (https://dogfoodz.com)

    URL format is:

    • That has been added. Dogfoodz.

  • Hi,

    Could Turo be added?

it's like airbnb but for cars.

    gaining ground in Aus.

    bigger overseas -e.g. US.

    URL format is : https://turo.com/c/<referral code>

Refer friends to Turo, and they’ll get US$25 off their first trip.
You’ll earn US$25 credit once they travel.

    thanks

    • As there is no one in the system, we've removed them from the referral system. Possibly they don't have a referral system or due to us being locked in Australia for the past couple of years.

  • Just a reminder to everyone that if you're interested in getting a referral system for a particular store added, please include:

    • The URL format for the referral link (or coupon format if it's only in coupon form, like Uber Eats/GoCatch codes etc)
    • Benefit for the referrers and referees
    • Instructions to get the referral link

If your comment is removed as soon as you submit it - don't worry as we will still see it on our end. It's just the system doing its job in automatically detecting and removing comments that it believes to contain referral links.

Do not reply to this comment, add a new comment to the bottom.

  • Could we get Acorns updated to the new Raiz link - think the changed name has altered the referral links?

    app.raizinvest.com.au/invite/ [XXX Referral code]

    • That's been updated. Looks they are still redirecting the old links so should be good.

  • It appears Luxury Escapes have removed their referral programme. The referral page redirects to the home page and in My Account there is no more referral section. Also the 'Invite Friends' button in the top banner has been removed.

    • Thanks, that's been disabled.

  • Could Lookfantastic.com be added? Referrer gets £5 per successful referral and referee gets £5 off order over £25.

Link format https://www.lookfantastic.com/referrals.list?applyCode=XXXXX… (where XXXXX is referrer's first name)

    Referral info https://www.lookfantastic.com/referrals.list

    • That's been added. Lookfantastic.

      • When I clicked on my link via the Ozbargain referral randomiser, the ampersand in my link (need to hover over the link above to see the ampersand near the end) changed to a %26. Not sure if this will affect whether the referral works or not?

        • OK, looks like you don't need &li in the code. I've put instructions to leave that out and fixed your link.

        • Thanks!

      • https://www.lookfantastic.com is the UK site, I've had 2 successful referrals but I can't use the credit because I'm not shipping to the UK.

Is it possible to change this to the Australian site https://www.lookfantastic.com.au, or to add it?

        https://www.lookfantastic.com.au/referrals.list?applyCode=XX…

        Thank you!

  • Qantas Assure's health insurance also offers referrals, and they stack on top of the current 110k sign up bonus as well (well, they stacked on top of the last 110k sign up bonus for me, confirm when contacting). Both the referrer and referee will receive a bonus 5k QFF points.

The referral codes are issued by email after you sign up and are a six character string of letters and digits (e.g a1b2c3).

With the Qantas Assure Referral Program you could earn 5,000 Qantas Points for bringing onboard your friends or family members - and they could earn points too. The more members you refer to Qantas Assure, the more points you could earn.

Here’s how to earn bonus points:

Share this email with other Qantas Frequent Flyer members.
    * They need to call 13 49 60 and quote your unique code below (so we can credit your bonus points).
    * You both receive 5,000 Qantas Points 60 days after they take out a combined Qantas Assure Health Insurance Hospital and Extras product or Hospital only, or a Qantas Assure Life Protect Insurance policy with a premium greater than $40 per month.

    • That has been added. Qantas Assure.

      • Thanks neil.

      • Could we also add one for the Qantas Assure app?

I got an email from them today:

Invite a friend to download the Qantas Assure App, and once they start using it, you'll earn 150 points. Invite up to 20 friends - and earn up to 3,000 points.

The referral link is in the format, generated from the app:

        • Hi YadaYadaYada,

That is done now, you'll find a second referral system for 'App Download'. All codes added to Qantas Assure within the past 24 hours were moved to the new referral system. Deal post

        • @hamza23: Thanks for that. Should this one be done as a URL parameter, since the code is directly part of the URL?

        • @YadaYadaYada:

          Sure, done now: https://go.qantasassure.com/{ReferralCodeHere}

Another user also mentioned the URL should be visited from mobile device so it goes directly to download the app, have added that to the instructions.
