I found it when looking into a way to ship these cheap memory cards : https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/144368

How does this work : https://www.reship.com/UI/AboutUs.aspx

Also - not sure if it works yet, but code SHIP1115 might get you 15% off the 1st package delivery

Couple of review sites look OK :
http://www.webutation.info/go/review/reship.com
https://www.ekomi-us.com/review-reshipcom.html

although this one looks more mixed :
http://www.sitejabber.com/reviews/www.reship.com

Note - I haven't used the service yet, just signed-up, thought no harm to get an address for future use.

Thanks , now I don't have to lie about having a US address

  • it asked for a credit card ?

    • strange - when I added the code UNLOCKED and clicked the Apply Coupon button, it removed the credit card / paypal requirement.

    • Signup doesnt require it.Use the listed coupon and it zero's out the normal charge (5.51 AUD in my case)

    • Polar bear.

      • Cute polar bear.

      • It is a rabbit.

        • +1

That's one very fat furry rabbit!!! Look further up the thread to yeohkt!

  • So how much is it typically to get something sent ?

    • Depends on size, weight and shipping method - you can get an idea here :
      http://reship.com/UI/ShippingEstimate.aspx

      • Is this service practical in only large items? Or would this be cost efficient if I were to buy a few comics or books. I've been interested but it seems the shipping costs are high and have been wary of using it.

        • My main reason for getting a reship account was to order things from US companies that don't ship to Australia. This can result in savings, but for me it meant getting products you wouldn't otherwise be able to buy. Given that this is free, just sign up for an address on the off chance that one day you'll want to order something that is only available from companies that don't ship to Australia (I bought a low voltage electric fence to give possums a hard time without actually frying them).

        • I should point out that this doesn't constitute an endorsement of reship.com, since I made the purchase in mid 2012. They did a good job and were cheaper than shipito for the particular product I purchased, but it was a long time ago.

        • I forward some magazines here from time to time, they cost around $5.50 an issue via airmail including the $1 package handling fee.

I got "Sorry, an error has occured" - Any idea ?

    • +1

      Same here.

      • even I got that error, but I did get an email with the US address

      • +1

        Same here

Check your email though, mine worked

        • Yup same here!

  • +9

Haven't taken a detailed look at this one but be sure to compare fees etc with www.shipito.com as they are very good.

Also try and compare shipping costs with the shipping calculators as a lot of these sorts of companies charge small fees but sneak a margin into the shipping rates.

    • +4

Your Right. A quick search on both sites shows a package of 10x10x10in 5lbs and $500 value will cost $63.47 with reship via USPS (2-5 days postage time) and cheapest option with shipito is $43.21 with TNT and free insurance (2 days postage).

      • No don't use tnt express.. I used shipito which are great & when i bought $1000 worth of makita tools it reached sydney & went missing(stolen)… I had it insured & got money back but still upsets me when I think about it…. Having said that my previous 5 orders with shipito had no issue.

    • +1 for Shipito. Have been using them for years.

$1 per package handling fee and best shipping rates around.

      • Did you have any issues making the $5 fee payment? NAB took ages to get mine processed and Shipito hasn't activated my account yet even though it's been weeks since the payment.

  • What's the one-time sign-up fee, before I click that I agree to it?

    • Thats the $5 sign-up fee that is being waived with the coupon code UNLOCKED

  • Sorry

Tried three times, same result. :(

    • Check your email, happened to me but they sent a welcome email with login details

  • Interesting info in terms of what Package consolidation can do - ie if the box which is used initially to send the items to your US address is larger than needed, package consolidation can help reduce the shipping fees :

  • It seemed to register OK even there is an error. My name is there, as I tried to re-register I can't reuse the email to register again. Where can I find or set the password

    • The password was emailed to me in my welcome email which includes the new US address.

    • Edit - Found the password page - in Account tab

  • This website has a poor WOT score so I'd simply refrain from using it.

  • Works for me, thanks OP!

I get the same message but then check email inbox and get confirmation of successfully registered.

  • how do i add coupon
    my bad found it

  • Dang, they don't ship Alcohol.
Does anyone know of a service similar to this that will ship alcohol through to Australia?
I have no problem paying the excise once aussie customs gets it, but most shipping services don't seem to want to have to deal with that.

  • Thank you OP. Used your referral.

  • +4

looks like they are inflating the shipping prices as well as adding the $5 handling fee:

4 pounds by USPS First Class International costs $35.06, they charge $41.15 + $5
4 pounds by USPS Priority International costs $48.77, they charge $59.66 + $5

  • What is good sites for price and quality of laptop? I'm looking for a windows 7 laptop.

    • +3

Good luck with that. I don't think it allows you to travel back in time

      • Windows 8 is so much annoying for me. I will install win7 anyway once I have a laptop.

    • Lenovo USA for their Lenovo IdeaPad Y series. Their late-2012 Y580 I own is still better than all display laptops at Australian stores excluding Alienware.

  • Well, I've signed up. Thanks OP.

Now to wait for shipito.com to have a free sign-up promo as well! :)

    • +2

shipito.com doesn't charge a fee to sign up, but it does require a $5 deposit

Edit: ahhh yes the registration went through even with that error.

  • How's this compare price-wise to hopshopgo?

    • +2

Think I worked this out correctly (some based on above poster)

      10x10x10in 5lbs and $500 value

      Reship
$63.47 via USPS (2-5 days postage time)

      Shipito
$43.21 with TNT and free insurance (2 days postage).

      Hopshopgo
      $48.00 (3-5 days postage - express)
      $40.00 (6-8 days postage - standard)

      $46.40 (3-5 days postage - Prime express)
      $38.40 (6-8 days postage - Prime standard)

To get Prime you have to make 3 shipments within 6 months before you get the lower price.
I think they also upgrade you to express for free, but it wasn't clear from their calculator and I can't remember from the last time I shipped.

  • This might be an alternative to my Shipito account. They no longer offer their own airmail priority service on smaller parcels.

  • +4

How does it compare to Shipito?

    • +5

I'd like to know as well. Everything looks identical to Shipito I also like how Shipito has different addresses around the US.
I don't think this is a deal. Shipito's had this for ages, and for free as well.
If anyone could point out the "bargain" difference, I'll revoke

      • +13

A deal with 73+, but with nobody willing to explain it and negging me for no reason?
        Please explain

        • +6

That's just ozbargain for you, mate.

        • +7

Yeah.. Now I know how jv feels

        • -8

Lol, jv lives off the negs,

But it isn't uncommon to just get negged for the sake of it, frustrating sometimes.

        • +1

          case in point!

      • Shipito has multiple physical warehouse locations. 2 in Los Angeles, 1 in Oregon (No Sales Tax) and 1 big one is Nevada.

Plus they have cheaper shipping and only charge $1 per package handling fee.

No brainier, I also fail to see how this is a 'deal' ?

    • +8

I think Shipito is cheaper overall, but I have not thoroughly investigated the relative shipping costs. Shipito recently reduced some fees.

      $1 per Package received
      $2 per item consolidated.
$8 I think for a parcel over 30 pounds, $20 for one over $70 pounds
Invoice removal $1 (eg purchase a $10,000 diamond and list it on the DIY Shipito invoice as a cubic zirconia valued at $100. It is kinda of crime to do this though since you are evading tax, but most people regards it as no more of a crime than downloading an MP3)

      Special request $5
Shipito gives you 3 consolidation options: keep box it was shipped in, discard box, or discard box and items packaging eg shoe boxes)
Free photo of the shipping label on the box (pay extra for inside photos)
Pay $8 for 1 month or $50 for a year (a years worth is good for people who buy from Kickstarter since you never now when the project shall ship)
Free Storage for 90 days (you pay for this in your monthly/yearly fees)
Maximum storage capacity per use is the equivalent of 3 big boxes
For your address, you have different addresses for the various Shipito warehouses, a Suite Number attached to the warehouses address. The Californian warehouses have the cheapest international shipping but some places like Amazon charge 9.25% sales tax. You can have an item delivered to a warehouse in Oregon and pay to have it trucked to Kalifornia Uber Alles (Dead Kennedys, look it up).
You can have multiple packages shipped together via some services and save on shipping (it is called something like MPS).

For larger packages using TNT or FedEx economy, I have estimated shipping can be as low as $5 per pound.
You can live Chat to them during Californian business hours.

      Shipito Postage calculator: http://calculator.shipito.com/en/#/
      Reship Calculator: http://reship.com/UI/ShippingEstimate.aspx
      Shipito: Fee summary http://www.shipito.com/shop-pricing

A small 30 pound package costs $135 US to ship by ReShip, and $108 by ShipIto, but ShipIto adds ~4% fee on Credit Card fees when payment is made. All things considered, I would say Shipito is cheaper for most people under most circumstances.

Any more questions, let me know. Shipito ought to give me a discount for pimping their service :)

      • I signed up for my Reship account and noticed that it was an Oregon address. No sales tax. This service seems like a viable alterative to Shipito for items that attract Californian sales tax, but Shipito would probably be cheaper for nontaxed items when all factors are tallied up.

        • Shipito has multiple addresses including http://www.shipito.com/oregon

        • That is true, but shipping from Oregon with Shipito is higher for whatever reason, probably on a par with Reship.

        • They factor in the cost to transport the item to Los Angeles (nothing actually ship's from Oregon)

      • +2

eg purchase a $10,000 diamond and list it on the DIY Shipito invoice as a cubic zirconia valued at $100.

For your sake, I hope you never lose something in transit and have to make a claim!!!

        • I have never done this. I cannot afford to lavish $10,000 on jewelry, I am just lower middle class. The worst I have done is to once mark a shipment worth about $1300 Au down as $900 AU to avoid tax.

As you say, the problem with stating an expensive item is worth less that $1000 is that you are only insured for < $1000. It is highly unlikely that a package sent by FedEx with signature confirmation and tracking will get lost, but USPS is much more unreliable. Also, if an employee tosses away a $10,000, there is a possibility they will steal it. It is taking a risk, but then every time we get in a car there is a small risk of getting killed or maimed, but it doesn't deter anyway from using motor vehicles.

      • +3

So.. in short, Shipito is better than Reship, and is always free. I'd say my neg is justified.
        Thanks for the research done!

        • +2

All research you could've done yourself instead of asking others to do the legwork for you earlier, which would've attracted a few negs for your neg vote I'd say..

        • But I was also curious, so I appreciate cpho asking the question that I was thinking of.
cpho is my fall guy hero.

      • Wow, thanks for the info!

      • Thanks for the research. Similarly mixed reviews though for shipito :
        http://www.sitejabber.com/reviews/www.shipito.com

Also, no option for consolidation, so you're forced to ship each package as it arrives unless you move to the $10/month or $50/year option.

  • So I got an estimate on shipping for this from Amazon - http://www.amazon.com/Portal-Device-Replica-Display-Stand/dp…

I put in all the details and the shipping estimate came up - $1141.09 from DHL. I have triple checked the details and that is their estimate. No thank you.

    • +5

Yeah, weight doesn't matter so much as volume when it comes to cargo. 3ft cubed is gonna cost you.

      • weight doesn't matter so much as volume when it comes to cargo.

Wish you were carting our freight from the States. They certainly charged us for the 135Kg!

      • Bzzzt… cubes or weight, whatever is greater gets charged. Fill a plane with large cheap fluffy toys… You'll regret it.

Airlines love our company, as we receive extremely heavy compact freight (high-pressure hydraulic piston pumps/motors). Make good money from a package that we need ASAP (offshore/mining).

Some situations it's flip-a-coin for sea/air. High value small items from USA… air can be same/similar value.

    • The irregular size is a problem. The largest boxes ShipIto uses are 36 x 17 x 17 inches. Unless it could fit in one of these when removed from the packaging, shipping would be horrendously expensive.

  • How much does it cost to ship a T-Shirt from US to Australia using this? :-/ Does anyone know?

    • +2

I recommend using ShipIto for small, light items. I punched in 0.5 pounds (my estimated tshirt weight) and their special Airmail Economy service was only $4.54, compared to $18.50 for USPS First Class.

Shipping Forwarders are best used for Multiple purchases and heavier items; that is where you get the most savings compared to having every purchase separately sent by USPS to Australia.

      • I probably should add that if you are making a one off purchase rather than using a long term account, there is an additional fee on Shipito, I think ~ $8.

        • +2

Shipito lowered that fee it's now only $1 USD.

        • +1

Thankyou for the info. that makes it much more attractive to casual buyers.

  • This is great, there are telescopes on amazon which have free shipping in Usa, and B&H charge $300-$500 shipping to australia. Would this company charge less for shipping telescopes to australia compared to amazon?

    • -1

      I doubt that.

  • -7

Happy my parents live in the USA I have a free ship address :)
    No fees hehe
