Bought one with Hardwire Kit. Also it needs a SD card - preferably a Samsung PRO Endurance like this

Comparing to N4 Pro, it lacks WiFi, different sensor, 128GB max capacity (vs 256), GPS, etc. Good price though!

Looks like it's at its lowest based on CamelCamelCamel

  • For some this could be a good thing, but note: "Optional GPS (need to buy extra, asin: B08DY6BZDV) allows tracking of the date, time, location, and speed( KM/H or MP/H) information."

  • Does this uses the starvis 2 sensor?

    • No.

    • the Vantrue N4 Pro does, but not this one.

whats the recommended dashcam, I want one with at least 2 channels and not bust the bank

Just be aware that it's 30FPS max on this thing, and if you're using both front and rear, it drops to 25FPS.

Personal experience, I find I need 60FPS to get any decent footage. Mind you, that's riding my motorcycle and using my GoPro Hero 11Black.

    • 60fps is worse in dashcams for getting freeze frames on licence plates and just the whole scene really, so it's a non starter.

Bigger issue is maintaining a constant 30fps though.

      • I didn't realise this. I was always of the belief that more fps = better. Does the bit rate have to compensate, or something? I'm used. To Viofo cameras.

        • +1

The bitrate is the biggest defining factor I think, moreso that fps or resolution. Doesn't matter if its outputting 1080p60 if its a blocky mess and you can't make out details.

        • See comment below too, that's why Viofo aren't focussing on 60fps for a lot of stuff and specially not 4k.

I have the A229 Pro and Vantrue Nexus 4 Pro and bitrate is the big winner for the Viofo. VS1 wins over S1 Pro from Vantrue too (don't ask, have too many dashcams)

You shouldn't compare motocycle GoPro footage to a dashcam as they use completely different sensors and settings to achieve a different outcome.

      • Exactly, that's why I can only judge from personal experience using a GoPro.
