  • Using one now in the kitchen for storage. Works well! Relatively easy to build.

Costco have these very similar in store for $109.99 at the moment (Coomera QLD Costco at least)

    • I don't like that the vertical post is actually 2 pieces joined together.

      • +1

Are you referring to the costco ones? cause I'm pretty sure the bunning ones are like that too.

        • +1

yes both of them have a joint in the middle

          • -1

@DeToxin: And you would be wise to reinforce that joint like we did. In our case with lots of heavy duty duct tape. Very solid after that.

        • The heavy duty ones posted 2 weeks ago are still in stock around the country, those probably dont have splits.

          • @ATangk: That's right.

            • @Levils: I went out and bought one of the last remaining racks at a nearby Bunnings. Glad to see it was one piece but can’t help but think even this heavy duty seems a bit less sturdy than I imagined, the regular stuff would be too wonky.

              • @ATangk: I've got both and that's my impression too - less sturdy than I imagined. I wouldn't consider putting the rated weight limits on either of them.

That said, compared to the heavy duty, the components of the regular one feel flimsy. When those flimsy components are assembled together, it feels strong. The regular one seems adequate for my modest storage needs, and the heavy duty ones overly so.

    • It shows 199 aud for me

instore price with instant rebate (was 139.99 in store, now $109.99)

        • Can you please share an image of the price instore(for 109.99) by any chance?
I'll try to price match using that at another store.

My shelving took quite a lot of banging to really get each plank into the holes, but it was very satisfying once it was done.

so the missus was happy on the payback for her encouragement?

still have couple of them unpacked

  • Bought one for my investment property.

Can confirm that it supports the weight of 5 guys on each shelf. THANKS OP

    • You boxed them?

    • Filling the shelves with 5 guys is very expensive. Those American fast food chains…

  • +1

$10 more for the heavy duty one which should hold better value but mesh

    • Where are you getting them for 129? I am seeing them for 269 AUD - here

      • +1

I think Bii suggests this one

        • +1

It's 1200mm and not 1500mm. So different size. I was hoping it's same size. Thanks for clarifying.

    • Link?

I cut up some mdf to put on top of the mesh so that I can put small stuff. Like car cleaning stuff with out it falling. Only left the bottom shelf as mesh for the big stuff.

The taller and thinner shelving unit with the same depth is $90:
    Pinnacle 2090 x 1200 x 540mm 5 Tier Adjustable Shelving Unit
    https://www.bunnings.com.au/pinnacle-2090-x-1200-x-540mm-5-t…

There were a few pallets of them at my local Bunnings in an aisle away from where all the shelving units are.

    • +3

Look, because I'm that kind of person, I worked out that you're getting around $27.77/sqm of storage space on the $90 version, and $29.38/sqm for the $119 version.

So, purely from an OzBargainer's point of view, yours is the better deal overall. 😁

Versus harder to use the top shelf and less stable.

        • Yeah, it definitely might, although an extra 260mm might not make a lot of difference. Hopefully not too many people are storing the maximum weight on every shelf on a cheap rack like these, but hey, I'll bet there are some! Christmas decoration & light crap up the top of mine.

But I also like that you can split these into two lower-height shelves, giving you some different options in how you lay out your shed storage.

  • Can i use it outside? thinking of putting it under the eaves.

    • +1

Not really. The MDF boards will probably warp and deteriorate if left outside for the rain and sun to damage.

Each level has a small metal insert around the middle to help support the MDF board. So if you removed the board, there's not much of a shelf left.

  • +1

Please do not buy MDF boards if your place has moisture and inadequate ventilation, I've 4 shelving with MDF boards and all attracts lots of mould buildup. I kills with mould away, but those mould frequently come back. Ends up throw away those MDF boards and dissemble them.

  • +2

I was worried about the lighter shelves like these falling over as I have 4 young kids.

If you're in SE Qld, I recommend Apple Shelving (https://www.appleshelving.com.au/collections/metal-shelving) as a cheaper alternative to the sturdy Rack It shelving.

For $300, I bought 2 sets of shelves and a peg board and used the top shelf from each unit in between them as a workbench and bottom shelf and peg board above workbench to span a 5m wall in my garage. I'm very happy with it.

    • They provide wall mounts so I’m sure it’s safe as long as you put on the safety mounts

  • I bought a couple of these from the Parafield store in SA today. They couldn't find them initially (5 shelve version) and I explained to them that I could only see that the Prospect store had them on their website. Anyhow after a a good look they saw that they've just been delivered and were still out the back. Parafield only had 12 allocated and I bought two of them. They'll be at the end of an isle as a promo item tomorrow. They will sell all of them tomorrow they reckon. So if interested, get in early. Also iirc the 1200mm ones go for $140 (maybe only 4 level though)

  • Bought one thanks for sharing

  • Hey just bought two from my local bunnings. Just wanted to say thank you! The prices were correct (not sure if on sale because it doesn’t have any details that it’s discounted) but definitely a good price compared to ones I’ve seen!

So easy to install just heavy carrying it to the car haha!

    • Yeah the unit is quite heavy I had to help the staff and without SUV can't really take it. Need to fold down seats too
