    PS5 Pro imminent.

    • +4

My guess would be in November.

    • All I care about.

      • +2

Mate you're care free by the looks of it.

        • He’s just a happy camper

        • Not a care in the world. I haven't had the need for a PS5 yet, GTA VI will finally tip me over.

    • +4

Will run PS4 games twice as fast as a PS5.

    • +4

Not much of an upgrade according to Digital Foundry:

Unless Digital Foundry’s report is way off base, the PS5 Pro’s performance improvements will be minor at best.

      https://videogames.si.com/news/ps5-pro-specs-leak-confirmed-…

      • +7

"What that all boils down to is that, between the higher GPU power and better upscaling software, the PS5 Pro should be able to make PS5 games with image quality issues – which is a lot of them – look better."

I'm hopeful that it will shore up the frame rates to a solid 60fps on games that will (and currently do) struggle on the current PS5 too.

As long as the price isn't too over the top I'm gonna be very keen to grab one on release.

        • I was hoping that too, but according to the article, won't improve frame rate if it's CPU limited.

    • -1

      whats the improvement?

      • +1

        See my comment above yours.

    • +12

Feels wrong to me they're releasing a Pro model.

It's been such a shitty generation and they're expecting people to upgrade mid-generation? Hardly any games on all the consoles and the ones that have come out haven't really pushed the current consoles. Nothing has come close to The Matrix Awakens tech demo.

The games that are struggling are CPU bottlenecked, which the Pro won't solve.

      • +6

Just another cash grab like the Slim.

        • +3

Modern "gamers" really are a gullible bunch.

          • -2

            @PainToad: "console gamers" ftfy

            • -1

@Willy Beamish: Only difference is they piss even more money away and are more arrogant.

            • @Willy Beamish: Yeah seen the latest gpu generation and what people are paying for minimal improvement

              • @Pigsy3: I've seen the latest generation and I see what people are paying but calling it "minimal improvement" is a bit shortsighted.

Is it worth it? No, but is it performance increase? In almost every circumstance yes. Not everyone is upgrading from a totl latest gen either.

I myself bought a 2nd hand 3080ti which is doing me fine for a while now upgrading from a 1060ti.

Paying for PC components is basically always worth it over buying a console. By the time you have the console it's already outdated hardware and you cannot upgrade it. There will always be a market for used PC parts.

Hopefully now you understand the basics of it.

      • Agreed, mines just used for the kids to play fornite barely anything else. No good games to play at all. Got day 1 release and it's collected more dust than any other console.

      • I remember working at JB Hi-Fi when the PS4 Pro dropped. On paper the differences weren't anything flash or necessarily "worth" the several hundred-dollar upgrade but man, that thing sold like gold plated hot cakes.

  • I got that $580 deal for the non-slim disc model last year.. haven't seen anything come close to that since

    • +3

Slim it's a newer model, it costs more because it had to go to dietician to lose some weight and size. 😄

      • +2

        Ozempic isn't cheap!

      • +2

Jokes aside, the Slim is actually cheaper for them to manufacture.

    • +9

$506 with Spiderman 2 was the GOAT deal.

      • +1

Bought and sold Spiderman 2 for $95 with no eBay fees, essentially $410 for a PS5 so it's hard to call this a deal

        • Did you play Spiderman 2 first? I got it with that Big W price error before xmas and thought it was pretty dope… don't know about $95 dollars worth of dope though!

          • -1

@Sidog: No I sold it sealed, I had already played previous Spiderman games and thought it would kind of be the same thing and wasn't too interested. I kept the PS5 for a few weeks and ended up selling it for $500 to a mate just due to not being interested in any games out and probably won't be for a while so would just sit there collecting dust, better putting the money to PC/better TV

  • +2

    perfect for playing $9.95 Forsaken

    • +4

Only problem: you're spending money and time playing Forspoken.

  • +1

How well do the disc PS5 versions function as a Blu-ray player?
That is, compared to a dedicated Blu-ray player?

    • I would imagine a dedicated Blu Ray player would run rings around the PS5

      • Why?

      • @Pub Envelope

I would imagine that too, but was hoping someone here might know for sure and describe why?

        • It’s to do with the decoding of the data. I’ll admit I’m not across it but my father is a high end audio and visual professional and he says it doesn’t compare. I used to stir him up about it haha. I’d imagine the internet would help you further.

  • Lol your better off buying Techfasts new post

  • pro version has slightly better chips that's all. the current gen already supports 4k

    • +1

the current gen already supports 4k

Not really. Most games aren’t rendering at 4K, especially if you want higher fps.

  • +1

Lmao love the people comparing a gaming PC to a PS5 😂

    • -4

Right gaming PC is the way to go, can play all the games

    • +10

Not everyone has time to muck around with PC gaming or wants to touch Windows.

It was fun in my teenage years and my 20s. Then life got busy.

      • +7

Exactly right - after spending aaaages stuffing around playing games on Windows, press a button on a PS5 controller and the game starts 10 seconds later.
        So much easier

        • +1

After the hours of download time.

          • @GodsSon23: Do you watch your downloads?!?
            Awkward!!

          • @GodsSon23: Hours?!
Put the disc in, copies to SSD in 5 minutes and off you go 😂

  • +4

Bought from JB, paid $11 for Uber delivery and was here in ~2hrs. No regrets, already installed and updated :D (just need to finish work to play it HA!)

    • +2

      Enjoy it!

  • -4

    Consoles. lol

  • +2

    Name 10 exclusive games worth a purchase of a ps5 thus far…… that’s not a sequel or a remake, not a remaster or a reimagining…and not a ps4 or prior console/ pc game or port…

    I’ll go first….

    Ha!

(I like my ps5, but man the games quality is all flash and little substance 😮‍💨 —- I miss the quality and variety of experiences of prior PlayStations….sigh….rriiiidgeee racer! )

    (Thank goodness for Nintendo)

      • (Thank goodness for Nintendo)

Isn't Nintendo just as bad/even worse? I loved my switch before I sold, but so many rehashed games and very over hyped.

      • You’re right

However, between Xbox series, ps5 and switch - switch I reckon has the better substance exclusives games.

Yes, Nintendo exclusives may be sequels heavy, but it’s a saving grace - I feel - during the slugfest of the current gen gaming….thus far this gen - I experienced many games prioritising flashiness over substance. Not so much with Nintendo, thankfully.

Edit: love the Dreamcast! (And adored the Saturn!)

    • +1

You want us to name non sequel or remakes, remasters etc. then say thank you to Nintendo? What Nintendo exclusives tick the same boxes?

    • +3

The big problem is there’s no variety anymore. All AAA+ games are huge open world games that you’re expected to spend hundreds of hours playing to get any sort of storyline or enjoyment. Sorry, I have no interest in spending that long playing games. I didn’t even as a kid.

The only other type of game is FPS which is a genre I actually enjoy, except all franchises are absolute garbage now days. Again because instead of time being spent on a good campaign or a solid multiplayer everything is about grinding for skins, operators, battlepass bullshit because your expected to sink hundreds of hours of your time grinding.

      • I have a solution for you, don't play AAA games. There's so many good indie or even AA games out there, there's no need to waste money and time on AAA games these days, unless it's a specific one you've been looking forward to or you know is going to be worth your money and time i.e. any FromSoft game.

    • Honestly, I kinda want it just to play Horizon Forbidden West DLC…but probably not worth paying $700 just for that. Everything else I want to play has come out on PS4 as well

  • I can hold out until November, my Girlfriend won't be happy though.
