Samsung 75" QN90C Neo QLED 4K Smart TV (2023) $2993 (RRP $3799) + Delivery ($0 C&C) @ Harvey Norman

300

Official website: https://www.samsung.com/au/tvs/qled-tv/qn90c-75-inch-neo-qle…

Model: QA75QN90CAWXXY

Posting as this model has been on run out for several weeks and I think for anyone holding out another month may miss out as 2023 TV stock evaporate.

Example, the QN85C now showing out of stock on Samsung EDU and several nearby stores have also confirmed limited stock of this QN90C, especially with the QN90D hitting stores last week. The QN90C 85" is also showing run out with no stock. This is similar to their 2023 OLED range with several sizes out of stock on the EDU store for the past 1-2months and retail stores following suit with their discounts this month.

Listing Harvey Norman as my location is showing the most available stock at several stores and delivery available compared than others.

* Harvey Norman is showing stock remaining at several stores (check website)
* Good Guys instore check showed limited stock in their network (0 or 1s at most)
* Jb Hi-Fi online check showed no delivery for some metro NSW addresses tested
* Bing Lee showed limited/no stock in store, most of their fulfilmment of remaining stock will be from their distribution centre and it will be difficult to obtain during flash sale similar to previous post https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/833663
* VideoPro Warehouse - Eagle Farm, QLD in stock
* Floor staff advice has generally been good however some can only provide one weeks advance price information so take any pricing given with a grain of salt

Alternatives:

Samsung QN85C 75" QA75QN85CAWXXY
* There seems to be more stock of the QN85C model in the network, eg. Good Guys shows $2495 and Harvey Norman $2493
* Samsung EDU store has recently changed the EDU store status to out of stock (was $2474.45, see https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/837256)

Samsung QN90C 85" QA85QN90CAWXXY price beat $3675
* As above Good Guys comments, in run out and most addresses I tested in NSW show no click and collect or delivery

Think it will go lower. I Got a good deal on a Sony x95k 75" late last year for $2600 delivered. A comparable TV so wouldn't recomend people pay nearly $300 more for a tv in same weight category (best non-oleds)

    • With that said most will be happy with the QN90 as is a great tv

    • +1

Agreed, it should go lower. I got this for $3330 from good guys mid last year.

I’m super impressed with it, contrary to what the 4ktv subreddit guys will want you to believe about these panels

(should’ve gone 85 inch though - never big enough)

Edited price it was 3330 not 3295. Just checked receipt. Start of June last year.

    • I think it will go lower but it will be near impossible to get any of the remaining stock for most buyers by then similar to last year where there were a few stock drips after Easter.

Of the stores I checked, JB Hi-Fi showed no delivery available for metro Sydney location, Good Guys had none in store except demonstration models and earliest delivery was next Wednesday from warehouse.

Bing Lee none in store and earliest delivery pending distribution centre. Their eBay store went from five available last week to one remaining for $2817 with $100 off MARSAVE coupon code.

The 2024 successor QN90D 75” is available to order for $3749.25 on Samsung EDU. Additional discount of up to $200 old TV trade in (tested a 15 year working Samsung 40” for this amount) and additional 5% off for first purchase on mobile app makes it a good alternative.

There may be more 77” OLED s90 and s95 available that will be reduced in the coming month but have not looked into these models to know stock levels.

For that amount of money why not wait for a deal on OLED?

    • I suppose as you cant get OLEDs for less than $3k, usually even on sale looking at $3.4-$4k for $75" OLEDs. The 65" OLEDs you can usually get under $2600 during this time of year but all depends on your space, 65" would be fine for most spaces but if you have a large wide living room then 75" will look ideal, trust me!

    • I agree. I got my s90c 77" for $3450. 65" was down to $2200 not long ago.

  • This thing is a light cannon. Almost 2,000nits peak brightness in a 2 & 10% window. Surprised stock is still floating around. Great TV for an IPS panel.

    • But it's not an Ips panel? It's QLED?

      • QLED is just a name for their Quantum Dot Technology. It's a layer sandwiched inside the LED panel. IPS and VA are different types of LED panels.

      • QLED and IPS are not the same category here. You can have a QLED IPS or QLED VA.

Basicsally the more high end spectrum of tvs can advertise they have a wider colour gamut layer by saying QLED OR Sony tri luminous, etc. Whereas IPS or VA is the panel itself, and then there is the backlight system for brightness and dark scene control (edge lit<FALD< miniLED).

VA panels generally had better image accuracy (colours and black levels) compared to IPS BUT this accuracy dropped drastically if you were off angle not directly in front. For me TV usage was always front and center so VA made sense but for loungrooms with weird seating arrangements IPS is worth it for consistent good image over amazing image front on.

So brand snobbery aside, is the TCL C845 still the best value? Also what's the verdict on mini LED vs Samsungs QLED?

    • +2

No brand snobbery about it, if you do your research they are not even close in terms of quality. Its easy in store to be mistaken that they are similar as TCL play demo reels that aren't real world and hide their faults.

I considered TCL c845 but very quickly realised it was not for me, too many drawbacks that the Sony x95k didnt have nor the QN90 from Samsung. I would of considered the Sony x90L over the TCL c845 as it has better backlight control in its FALD than TCLs woeful implementation of miniLED.

      • -1

        100% this☝️

      • what are these drawbacks? do they mainly only affect the enthusiasts?

        • +1

Yes, a non-videophile will probably be very happy with the C845 because they're not pedantic and looking for fine imperfections in the image quality. When you see them though, you can't unsee them.

The question reminds me of this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cmc4rupKJ9s&ab_channel=Digit… @plentifoo

For most people, TCL C845 is simply outstanding value for the price.

In many ways it crushes other budget TV models, outruns the midrange models from LG, Samsung and Sony by quite a margin and gets close to their flagship models, all where an upsized size can be had for the same price (or in the case of Sony, upsize and a bit of change leftover!).

For most people, that larger and value for your dollar TCL is the way to go.

For hobbyists and enthusiasts the Samsung, LG and Sony flagships will get first look most of the time.

yup shopping around to replace my aging sony 75x8000 mainly to watch movies and tv shows on streaming apps. nothing demanding. won't be gaming on it. nearly half price of the samsungs and sonys.

i've been asking around on processor performance on the C845 and i've been getting mixed reviews. But this is easily remedied with a nvidia shield.

  • I'm looking for a deal for The Frame 50 or 55 inches, sadly no deals these days..

    • +4

Not a great quality tv, more for arts people that care more about the look of the room than the usefulness of the tv itself.

    • Good find on Appliance Central @zoza

Buysmarte are selling factory seconds - if undeterred I would recommend negotiating an additional $300 off what they have listed (Appliance Warehouse was willing to do the same amount during a previous visit).

    • +2

      $2,699.00 here

Please Note: This is an A grade Factory Second item.

      • -2

Which means it was display model nothing serious

        • If you had said box damaged like for Sonys then YES nothing serious. Not sure anybody silly enough to take some serious risk with used products just to save not even $500 off 🤯

If you are happy with the picture and quality, delete your wifi password and don't ever connect it to the internet because Samsung have a habit of nerfing firmware badly to make you start thinking you need a new tv.

We are talking major features like disabling VRR/120hz on the game input and halving the dimming zones.

    • +1

      Nerfing firmware, that's new lol

      • +1

        Not for Samsung.

They've been doing for the 3 tv generations now.

        • +2

Yep, despite making beautiful displays, I'll never touch one again after what they did with the S95B.

    • +2

True i went with the Q90's throughout the house due to the feature of popping up live thumbnails when my Ring cameras detected motion. Then you could choose to view the camera feed fullscreen. Then one day recently they just decided to kill support for that feature, pretty pissed off about it and after always buying Samsung next TV will be LG.

  • +2

Flashed the latest C845x2 firmware from TCL Telegram channel, this thing is outstanding and on another level.

  • -2

Who'll pay such an amount when you can have tcl? Get a tcl and use the rest of the money for a sound system

    • +1

Because you get what you pay for? Imagine comparing SDC with CSOT. Chinese manufacturers are very good at producing a bright display however a TV isn’t defined by how bright it can get.

Normally these threads have talk of whether the Australian panel on these tvs is the same as the US panels which the reviewers get their hands on. Was wondering whether this one is the same as the american panel?
