Isnt that called a thumbdrive/harddrive plugged into the TV's USB?
@BatmanAU: Depends. If you install the right apps on a chromecast you can locate, obtain, stream and store the relevant content directly on the chromecast while sitting in front of the tv without getting up off your couch to unplug stuff.
For installing apps, you know you can plan many games with GCC
