Not really a bargain when other popular stores like Lime Blue post deals around $30 delivered for 1kg. This one has 102 upvotes -

49% off Thank You Blend Coffee Beans 1kg $22.70 + Delivery ($0 with $69 Order, Delayed Dispatch Available) @ Lime Blue Coffee

    • For that thankyou blend yes, not for SOs though.

    • Flavour profiles of coffee are always BS too. If you're tasting peach in your coffee there's something wrong.

      • No that's not true either. You can definitely taste the flavour profiles of you know how to brew coffee.
I'm sorry but I have to defend the coffee art here as it's one of my biggest passions/hobbies

        • Or perhaps don't go mixing peach juice with the coffee.

          • @Clear: In a v60 method the flavours add a lot to the drinking experience. You should really try a good pour over with some.of those notes. I'd make it for you for free just to give it a crack. even if you don't enjoy it, I hope it puts into perspective how coffee is also an art that can provide nice tasting experiences.
You actually don't mix the flavours when preparing the coffee if that's what you mean.
            https://www.quora.com/How-do-they-add-flavors-to-coffee-bean…
Have a read of this. It might put some perspective. To flavour profiles

Who the hell plays $50 for less than 500g of coffee?!

    • -2

Dude you clearly have no idea about coffee if you make that comment.
$50/kg is pretty change for some speciality beans.

  • +4

Nearly $100/kg rrp is this a joke?

  • +4

None of your previous 14 deals have surpassed single digit upvotes, clearly you aren't trying hard enough, especially not trying to flog $100/kilo coffee. This is not a free advertising platform, even for expensive niche products. No deal, there's plenty of cheaper comparable alternatives per other posts.

    • +1

It's not free advertising. It's actually cheaper if you work out prices per kg than other shops.. have a look at those specific beans online. And you will see the current prices are competitive.

  • +2

    The Judge,
It's not about trying hard enough, no business can survive if they are making losses. Our coffee beans are of a high quality which is why they are priced as they are. From having specialised roasters, maintenance, hours of labour and high shipping rates add to the costs which you may not have considered. Coffee prices have increased world wide and will continue to increase as coffee is a traded commodity. We offer our sampler as a way for customers to try different coffee origins and roast profiles without having a to bulk buy kg's of coffee beans. I'm sorry if you feel $25 is priced too high for our coffee sampler. It does include shipping so we believe our coffee is competitively priced. Our single origins are $55 per 970g delivered. Feel free to find cheaper alternatives though. Have a great day.

    • I don't disagree with your logic about input costs & the perils of running a small business, but those aren't my or Ozbargain's problems, they're yours. This website doesn't exist as a service to help you. Again, this site is for posting bargains and deals and given what has been previously shared here, passing off $100/kilo coffee as a bargain probably won't get much traction with users. It should be obvious from the low upvotes and mediocre site traffic that your pricing doesn't resonate with the community.

feel free to find a cheaper alternative

Maybe now you're starting to understand the ethos of this community.

      • I think there are a few points to make here.
        1. Their pricing, at least for this sampler, is about normal for a deal in the centre third of the market. This constitutes as a decent sale… certainly more than 15% or 20% + shipping, which is plenty of other deals we see.
        2. They are running a competitive-enough sale, so they are entitled to post it on here without being shot on about 'the community.' I am glad I saw this deal, and I'm part of 'the community', so how does that work out?
        3. We need to stop comparing things to Lime Blue. We get it, they have some wild sales. They are an outlier, and a hit-and-miss outlier at that. I don't think its fair to whip small businesses against an outlier.

        • It absolutely is fair to "whip" whoever comes around trying to unfairly leverage this site for personal gain, we're all subject to the DPG. Ozbargain wasn't set up to boost small businesses & their niche offerings, a fact that seems lost on many reps and indeed community members.

Regardless of the empathy you may have for a certain company, if they aren't offering a comparable product at a comparable price to a reasonably recent benchmark, they will & should be held accountable. Highly subjective products like coffee are even more susceptible to this than say a product on Amazon that's cheaper on Temu etc.

          • @The Judge: Some people simply see a price for a bag and that's fine take Lime blue and Aldi up on their products. It may not "resonate with the community as a whole" but it still may resonate with a few. Who are you to bully or whip companies into different pricing when we have no clue what costs are involved. You cant spit out a spreadsheet of every bean traded and its non roasted cost nor should you compare beans of different origins together like people have above. A quick google will show both beans are going for around $40 per kg without delivery meaning this particular deal is about right (since you get hammered for buying less than a kg). Would I buy at full price? no way. Would I take a punt on this deal and try and get the beans cheaper elsewhere if I liked them absolutely.

            • @solidsteak: I'm not demanding they change their offering, but I take exception to companies continuously trying to exploit Ozbargain. Post away, as long as it's within the DPG, but if it's an outrageous claim, it will be called out as such.

          • @The Judge: Not in this case.
Just because it's a single origin it can't all be compared. There are some beans that come from trees that have low volumes and hence the higher price.
I've spent up to $900/kg for coffee beans . So what you are saying is actually incorrect.
Coffee is only subjective by taste. But it is objective when looking at prices of the bean itself.

            • @maverickjohn: Cool flex. This company makes no such claim.

              • @The Judge: Not intended as a flex but more for awareness that these things go up in price depending on the type of bean you buy.. obviously I don't go buying these luxury beans all the time but it's more to let you know that there are different types out there.
Also companies don't go out claiming the bean rarity. It's more of if you know you know situation.
One bean I frequently order for my v60 is cidra which goes for around $230/ kg on its own it seems really expensive and crazy. But the flavour profile is out of this world. And worth the premium.
It's why I feel upset that sometimes the negs discourage these speciality roasters from posting. Particularly when it's based on price.
I always neg normcore because they have bad service and don't know how to roast their beans well. But more than happy to pay for good beans

                • +1

@maverickjohn: Thanks Maverickjohn. You did a lot better than me trying to explain this and its a subject people entirely miss when simply looking at it from a price perspective. Agree and love that we can get a better deal on more higher quality beans from deals like these.

                  • +1

@solidsteak: Yeah it's a little frustrating that comments like the above on who spends $50/kg are getting positive votes when they have no idea or appreciate coffee like some others.
Anyway all we can hope for is that some one learns and appreciates the finer side of coffee.

  • OP needs to lower the price for sampler. I believe sampling is where you expect to lost some $$$ to gain customers, especially at OzB where lots of businesses have build reputation/rapport within the community.

I think OP needs to give us something more attractive to gain our attention and compete with our favourites here.

  • Ethiopian djimmah can be had for $38/kg and Brazilian Santos for $60/kg.
    Makes it $98/kg
Since yours is 460g for $25 it's actually not bad.
    I'll give you a plus.
