  • To buy or not to buy… 🤦

Clear pls, any more of these deals and I'm going to need an AED for my wallet

    • +4

My AliExpress wishlist has nearly 1600 products. I can go all year posting deals :P

      • +3

        All year long you say!?

Ah screw it, it'll happen eventually anyway.

        CLEAR!!

    • I don't know what is an AED, but I definitely need one. 😂

      • No problem https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005003879809060.html

(although I'd worry a little if the ambo pulls up and the paramedics are tearing open those little grey aliexpress/auspost shipping bags prior to working on me)

        • +1

Thanks, I added one to my wishlist 😂😂

        • Imagine trying to get one of these things serviced by Aliexpress customer support…

          *shivers*

      Or an IED! :)

This work? Cause the one I bought could not get to work.

    Is not accessible. Incorrect function

  • need somewhere to put all these nvme SSDs

  • hmm getting USD, 17.24 :/

    • You sure you're reading that right? I'm getting US $12.74 before tax.

  • Does anyone know if this can run at full speed (20Gbs) on a MacBook Pro M1 machine? Thanks

  • Be careful and double-check the final price. AX tried to charge 20% tax (as opposed to the usual 10% GST) on my orders for the last few days…

    • Oh that's dodgy, did you raise to their CS?

      • I did twice with screenshots, zero response

    • Unfortunately for certain discounts there's a bug where it charges more than 10%. Quite frustrating.

Nope, it's more than that. I selected a couple of 3 for $2.99 and similar deals and it added 20% tax then it wouldn't accept my card even though I used it earlier that day to pay for a full priced item. Now, a day later those discounted items i tried to buy are recommended back to me full priced.

Good olde Jack (Ma) is going dodgy…

        • Because they calculate the GST based on pre special promo price, you usually find this happened on those 3 for x.xx items, for some reason part of the discount treat as store credit.

  • @Clear since you have hundreds of SSDs, does that mean we can expect more enclosure deals being posted and we need to try to resist those deals?

    • Oh gawd pls no… My wallet is already on life support as it is…

      • Give me all your SSDs, then you won't have any need to buy enclosures.

        • Over my dead wallet mate.

          Oh wait…

@anonym: We should get Clear's SSDs and share….

            • @netsurfer: Tempting… I know for sure Clear has a stash of SSDs and eneloops hidden somewhere…

              • +1

@anonym: That would be in my safe deposit box alongside the Pokemon cards.

                • @Clear: Raising the stakes I see…

These Orico storage cases are very useful. I've been searching for some more unique looking enclosures and found this one with a massive fan. This one that takes both an M.2 and 2.5" is super tempting too.

I'll certainly be posting more cheaper ones.

      • I like the storage cases you posted, but kinda still prefer a smaller size one (no need for such a big gap between SSDs), but $7…. no, I am cheap.. that's too much.

        • If I buy 10 of them for A$61.82 that'll give me the room to fit 100 M.2 SSDs. More than enough.

      • Tag on a lithium-ion battery and you get a portable fan-enclosure-powerbank-ied freak of nature thingamabob.

      • There is one type of product I really hope someone would make: external m.2/NVMe adaptor (kinda like eSATA, but for m.2/NVMe).

      • Have you tried any ASM2464 USB 4 enclosures? If yes, are you happy with the performance? I am getting really disappointing write performance. I picked the cheapest enclosure and that one doesn't have any firmware update. Also, I have old Thunderbolt 3 devices and the chipset doesn't appear to work in Thunderbolt 3 mode, but USB 3.2 gen 2 speed.

        • I haven't got anything USB4 capable at the moment unfortunately.

      • After some quick search, that one basically is the enclosure + a USB fan. There is a 3m double sided tape included.

        https://ae01.alicdn.com/kf/Ad708c804f86c414e9b68aca45be6b893…

        Feels like a hack.

        • It would kinda work, but I doubt the tape will hold on to the enclosure for long… 😅

  • That PayPal tip at the bottom is very good!

Do they charge more or less on the USD pricing? (I mean before fees and conversions and stuff through banks, if an item is 10 USD is the AUD price on the site often less or more at pure currency conversion?)

I've never thought about checking it

OzBargain posting rules prevent me from sharing as a deal but @netsurfer may be interested and anyone else.

    Netac 6 in 1 M.2 SSD hub/enclosure for US$10.24 (~A$15.75).

Unfortunately it only takes M.2 SATA SSDs and HDMI is 4K@30Hz, however it does have 2x USB 3.0, 1x RJ45 and PD 100W passthrough charging. Not bad option if you have M.2 SATA lying around.
