Amazon Essentials Full Zip Review

Our Verdict
The Amazon Essentials Full-Zip is an inexpensive, serviceable fleece that is more than worth its price tag. A full zipper makes it much easier to put on and take off than a quarter-zip model. Depending on the colorway, it also comes with four or five pockets for practical carrying capacity (not all patterns include a chest pocket.) Though it lacks breathability, it is a warm mid-layer that can fit over a thinner fleece and underneath an outer shell. Beyond that, it doesn't have any especially notable features. This fleece simply performs its most basic function as a warm layer in cold weather very well, making it a great value option for anyone who just needs an inexpensive fleece, and nothing more.

The Bezos Mao suit. God, if we all start wearing stuff this hideous we're lost.

Even if this comment gets a popular comment award, it's still underrated

Thankyou for pointing this out, have cancelled my order

      • +9

Why? it's fleece. What were you thinking was made of?

        • +31

          Electric Sheep

    • +4

Patagonia's is too. Don't hear anyone complaining about that brand.

      • +4

yeah most brands use the same stuff, idiot comment.
eg. North face '100% Recycled Polyester Knit Fleece'

      • +1

Personally didn't buy their fleece for the same reason. It's hard to find something waterproof to hike in that isn't plastic though?

        • dunno, fleece isn't designed to be water or wind resistant. It would be an alright mid layer or just wear around the house.
normal hoodies and the odd jacket is good enough for qld winters. I thought fleece still breathed anyway - can't have everything, but sounds like a soft shell jacket is better (HH do some good ones).

      • i love your name

    • +1

I bought a Kathmandu jacket made of recycled plastic bottles, literally said that on the label.

    • +1

Confused by the meaning of "100% Polyester" ?

  • +6

Wish they provided the size guide.

    • I got an Amazon US fleece a while back. I'm typically a large but a medium would be a better fit. I find US sizing is typically one up on our skinny arses

      • Made for big boof heads.
I read a few comments and said should size down

      • Thanks. Useful info

  • Comments suggest something wrong with the zipper?

    • +6

It will follow an American style to have the zip buckle on the right side on mens clothes, which is an unusual thing in many other countries (including Australia) where mens clothes have the buckle on the left side. It feels a bit weird but you’ll be right.
PS: if you didn’t notice your gf/wife’s jacket has the buckle on the right side too :)

Just go to Kmart for that type of cheap fleece (and cheaper too):

Hard to get the fit right a lot of the time with impulse ozbargain purchases.

    Lumberjack halloween costume ordered

  • This looks almost the same as my Superdry Mountain fleece jacket…

  • Can anyone comment on the warmth/thickness of these?

    • +3

Yes, the 33,371 global ratings will probably have something to answer your question.

Lightweight but thick enough for Sydney winter.

  • +3

Amazon and fleece at the same sentence.. gold..

Now you too can look like Aldi Dan Andrews

  • Got the red one last time for $12.86. Still worth it at this price.

    • How's the cut, runs a bit small? Not too much shape to them but would be an alright beater.

    • Same!

These are actually pretty well reviewed as great value.

  • +3

No 6XL? OzB isn't interested then!

  • Thanks OP. Grabbed a middie.

  • Is there a size guide?

  • Are the sizes true? Does anyone know?

    • +1

Depends on your size — for me they are true to size. I wear a size S across most brands and these fit me perfectly in S (I own a few of these in different colours). I would rate these as essentially "you get what you pay for" — good value, decently comfortable and keep you warm during Sydney winters, but nothing particularly special. Overall style ranges from mediocre to ugly, but I only wear these at home anyway.

Another comment said that these are not thick enough for Melbourne winters and I'd agree 100% with that.

  • I bought the Cobalt Blue XX-Large for $15.23, though I usually fit the large size but large and X-Large were full price.
So the money I saved on buying the XX-Large will go to eating fatty takeaways until I fit my new jacket.

    • +2

Yeah they reckon to buy a size down if anything. See how you go (and hook into the KFC)

    • +1

      Did somebody say XXL?!

  • +2

First link needs to be updated - it's currently pointing back to this page

    • Updated, thanks!

Microfiber junk releases microplastics everywhere. Keep away.

    • What's your phone made of?

      • -4

Phone is bad to but clothes are bigger by far and something we can avoid. Buy bamboo instead.

        • +1

          Go nude.
All bamboo clothing sounds bloody unrealistic lol.

      • +1

You don't wash your phone :-)

  • +3

    Cheap… and nasty.
    Very unstylish too.

  • +3

I'm wearing the lumberjack pattern now 😂

Quality wise, I think for $15 is good value, the fleece feels softer than kmart ones.

It's not thick won't be enough for Melbourne winter but can wear as midlayer

Size wise, I usually wear Small but this one is a bit loose compared to normal S size.

I'm ordering another one in navy but in XS

  • Thank you OP

  • My order was cancelled by seller. Anyone else?

  • Just dropped to $15.06 for some colours

  • Grabbed an XL last time. The fit is pretty standard except the body length which feels unusually short.

  • Cant wait to spot other ozbargainers somewhere wearing this particular fleece this winter.

  • +3

Looks like something Albo would wear.

    • nah .. it's Under Amour now he's on the PM salary

    • Too good for Albo

  • +1

    Ugly AF

    • Yeah not worth the gamble.
      Would look like Feldman..

    • Clearly you've given up in life if you're wearing this, yep.

    • $15 is reasonable price to pay for not getting arrested when you loiter for school pick ups

  • I've been looking for a fleece as a mid layer for hiking, although I would rarely use it given the temperatures near me most of the time. I can put the saved money elsewhere buying something this cheap. Goodness knows there are places to park it in the hiking gear world.

  • Sizing is weird.. L is too small, XL is too big.
