How do people afford to spend this much on a vacuum?

    • +8

In America, first you get the money, then you get the vacuum, then you get the Women

Ive got this at $1,199 directly from Dyson with no tradins etc few weeks ago as an upgrade from my few years old v70. Vaccum part is great. I usually go with the nornal brush roller first and then a round with the wool brush with the laser light attachment. wool brush with the laser light is cool and shows tiny dust particles that cannot be picked up by the roller brush if you are into that level of cleaning. however I would think any quality vaccum with a wool roller will do that if you take time to do the job without the lser guidance. For me Vauccum part is great . The mop part is not good , basically a wet roller. that rolles over the floor and drip the water back to a compartment. With the mop attachment the vaccum becomes quite heavy for me to maneuver.I found that my cheap spin disc type mop did a better job compared to the mop attachment this has. My 2 cents- If you are considering to buy specificaly for the mop may be worth going to a shop floor and have a look and try before buying.

Thanks for the advice dude - just out of interest what sort of spin disc mop do you have?

The one ive got dont have a brand and got it out of ebay about an year ago, cant seem to find the exact one there. There are few on ebay aroud $100 mark with the label spin mop.Mine has steam function. The main difference for me is that - If you want to spend bit more time at one spot it is hard with the dyson as it always tries to pull you away towards the front,so you have to do one go and release the power switch , pull the mop back to the position and switch it on again or go around the dirt patch. with the spin mop , i find you can work off one spot fairly easily compared to the dyson

It’s cheaper than this price regularly without the trade in.

  • Sorry if I’ve overlooked is this basically the latest Gen5Detect with the mop/submarine head included?

    • No

    • I believe the vac part is basically the same but the heads are not interchangeable and not compatible

Waiting for it to be close to 1k or less.

Vaccum 2-3 times a day and mop once a week. That’s 2340 times in 3 years. Works out to be less than 50cents a day. Ppl don’t seem to have issue paying $5 for soy lattes everyday but $1k vac is omfg.

Possibly a stupid question, but what/why are you vacuuming multiple times a day?

      • Kids and 3 meals a day

  • Has been around $1000 mark without trade in, several times in past months https://www.ozbargain.com.au/search/node/dyson%20submarine%2…
