Bonus Trade-in Credit for Samsung S24 Series Purchase: S24 Ultra $500, S24 Plus $400, S24 $300 S24 @ Samsung

310

For those who do not have access to Education, Government or Employer Partnership Programs, this is a nice deal that brings the price of the base model to the following:

S24 Ultra 256GB 12GB - $1698 + $61 = $1759
S24 Plus 256GB 12GB - $1298 + $61 = $1359
S24 256GB 8GB - $1098 + $61 = $1159

This price includes a trade-in value of a broken Samsung Watch 3 ($1). $61 is added to the price for not returning the Watch ($60) and the $1 trade-in value of the broken watch.

Add a random serial number of the watch to get the bonus trade-in value.

Also, if you haven't bought from the Samsung Shop App, you can use it to buy the S24 Series Anyone can use the Samsung app to get a further 10% discount on the prices which takes the price of the phones further down to:

S24 Ultra 256GB 12GB - $1528 + $61 = $1589
S24 Plus 256GB 12GB - $1168 + $61 = $1229
S24 256GB 8GB - $988.2 + $61 = $1049.2

Becareful if you trade in anything of value with Samsung. Their trade in partner Asurion has been known to reject legit, working items, claiming they are damaged. And not returning it. There's also no way of contacting them, other than chat messaging, which they take a few weeks to reply, if they reply at all.
I recently lost a good working phone, claiming it was faulty.

    • +9

Best way to benefit from such trade in seals is to not send the device and pay $60 device non-return fee. You can always sell your device for better value. Alternately just select Samsung Watch as trade in device and put any serial number and get $5 trade in value.

      • I did this recently including a horrible experience with the app triple charging my credit card for the trade in value upfront and keeping the money for a month. The "manager" did warn me however the bonus value may be reversed and we could be charged an amount since the trade in bonus does not apply as a result. Its been two months, havent been charged yet

      • They still charge $500 before you can send anything to them…

        • +1

Thats not correct. They only charge you the amount equal to the trade in value of your device. Thats why as mentioned by OP, its better to just trade in Samsung watch with random serial number for $1 or $5 and they will only charge you that amount when you place the order, and another $60 device non return fee later when you receive the order and do not send back the device.

    • +3

That is the reason why I’ve stated to put a broken Samsung Watch 3 for a $1 trade-in value and non-return fee of $60 in the post.

    • Correct. Im pressing Samsung weekly, Asurion dont care. My current status is they will send back the phone which they havent done yet. Im documenting everything for fair trading.

They respond to Samsung immediately, they just dont do anything after that. I think their business practises are just outdated. As a comaprision i had to use a 3rd party asus repair after 1year into warranty, the repair center picked it up, fixed it and had it back to me within 3 business days. They packaged it nicely too which shows the asus repair center runs a good shop.

      • I've had the same problem, this is just an absolute nightmare to deal with. I havent been able to even send my phone in because they wont generate a new postage label. Contacting them for weeks they keep closing my case online….

Asurion's customer service experience was incredibly disappointing. When I participated in a Samsung swap through Care Plus, I expected a smooth process, but I received a faulty device instead. Despite my phone being nearly two years old, I hoped the new refurbished device would extend its lifespan, but I was mistaken. The replacement device had issues recognising the S Pen and receiving network signals. I contacted Samsung support before my subscription ended, and they advised sending the device to a service center for assessment, which was a three-hour drive away. After the service center confirmed the device was faulty, I reached out to Samsung again, only to be directed to Samsung Care Plus, as the swap device was from them (Asurion).

I reported the issue to Care Plus, but they claimed my subscription had expired two days after I reported it. They insisted on repairing the device, but with only one phone to use, I couldn't afford to send it in. Despite my efforts to push for a replacement, citing their terms and conditions, they refused, citing the expired subscription. Desperate for a resolution, I emailed the office of the CEO of Samsung Australia, and while I initially received assurances that Asurion would replace my phone, subsequent communication went silent.

In frustration, I filed a complaint with the ACCC and was assigned someone to handle the case, but still received no response from Samsung. Finally, after much persistence of keep on calling and email to complain, I received an email from Samsung Care Plus stating that my device would be replaced, but only after sending mine in first. Reluctantly, I sent my phone away, as it had become essentially unusable due to signal issues since the last 2 days, leaving me to rely on a cheap brick phone which I just bought while waiting for the replacement.

The entire ordeal has been a headache since it began in February, with multiple attempts to resolve the issue and numerous setbacks along the way.

      • Sounds horrible :(

    • -1

So what ends up happening to the $300 trade-in bonus, did they end up charging you back for that as well? Or any other fee?

I'm concerned my device might not pass Asurion's assessment and trying to figure out if I should even bother sending it in.

  • +1

Cheaper on Education / Westpac / EPP stores if you have access to those. e.g. S24+ 256GB can be bought for $1,109.20 including $250 bonus.

    • +3

you can ask chat for a $100 tradein bonus and those work on the Samsung app. price $1068 and you get samsung reward ( 1-5% depending on your level )

      • Even for Education store?

        • No

This doesn't feel like a deal, much more expensive than launch.

    • Fire up the time machine

  • +8

Time for me to visit specs savers at I can't find a deal on this page

    • Lol. Sub $500 would be a deal

  • i think the samsung shop app discount has reduced from 10% to 5% since january 2024.

As someone with no access to Edu/EPP, I got tired of waiting for a decent deal on an S24 Ultra.

Bought an "As new" refurb S23 Ultra 512GB from greengadgets on eBay for $966 instead. Decent value since the specs are comparable, and the AI update for S23 dropped a few weeks ago.

    • bro why you comparing last year's flagship 2nd hand phone….

      • +1

As I said, the specs are comparable. Additionally, a brand new S23U still costs nearly as much as an S24U.

        • +2

well got one last year for much cheaper https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/798495

          • -3

@SS625: Happy for you. That price hasn't been obtainable since the S24 launch though.

I initially commented because I know there are a few in the same boat as me that might be looking for another option.

Thinking of upgrading Pixel 6 Pro's with a failing battery life to a S24+ or S24U - anyone done this leap?

Going from P30 Pro to Pixel 6 Pro 2 years ago was lacklustre - hoping the S24+/U gives a better experience.

    • +1

P30 Pro was an absolutely flawless flagship. I still miss how utterly superior that was in every way (at the time). Everything these days seems to compromise somewhere, even the ultra (charging). The P7P is good but horrible battery. P8P has only minor improvements, but again, battery life.

I'm currently looking at the S24U or the Nubia Z60 Ultra global version. Leaning towards Nubia for the price and battery and uninterrupted screen.

    • Loved my P30 Pro. The 4 year old battery life was better than my Pixel 7a lol.

On the 8 Pro now and after a couple weeks of crap battery it seems to have stabilised now…

Yeah P30 Pro was the best for battery and fast charging. Fingerprint scanner was also better.

  • +2

Well I went from Pixel 7 to a s23U and it was night and day improvement.

    • I think Google have burnt alot of new Pixel owners with the 7/8.

I think I'm ok with the 8 Pro now that the battery drain has resolved itself… However, I think ill be going back to a true flagship like Samsung with SD chip for my next phone.

  • I bought an S22 Ultra by trading in my S10+.

Got the new phone and the discount, but Asurion never contacted me about sending in the old phone. Gave the S10+ to my mum, and 18 months later they emailed me asking for it.

Their processes seemed to have improved but I'd be so weary of using them

  • Has anyone ever returned a Samsung Order they just received and want to cancel the trade-in? What happens?

  • i remembered it was less than 900 with trade in few days ago for the s24 , price up again?

  • +1

Purchased S24 256GB for $850 with additional $100 trade-in discount (obtained from agent chat) along with 10% app discount.

    • This is what I got too. I probably shouldn't have, there's nothing wrong with my S20 FE I bought a few years ago for ~$500, but decide to treat myself.

  • OP, update post: 10% off when using Samsung App for all Users.

Also, if you registered for the AMEX offer: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/833919

    • Updated! Thank you!!!

    • Can you use the app for EPP orders?

      • Yes. But you won’t be able to get $500 bonus. It’s limited to 20% discount and $250 bonus.

        • but can you get the 10% off using the App bonus too?

$250 and 20% works better, but $250 and 20% EPP and 10% S24 series App and 5% First time App would be sweet!

            • @nepalicurryinahurry: EPP I thought was the employee portal. I see it might be confused with the education portal.

EPP i can see can go through the app. But the employee one - no go?

          • @donbot: No, 10% is with the regular store only.

  • +2

Thanks for this, managed to get the s24 ultra 512gb for $1429 trading in $10 watch using

10% off s24 series on app
5% off for first time use on app
$500 bonus trade in offer as above
$100 bonus trade in offer loyalty code via chat

    PLUS

$100 cashback via Amex rewards for Samsung store

    • I'm a bit slow on the uptake. Can you explain exactly as I have an Amex and would like to do the same (I have nothing to trade except an older Huawei, or my completely smashed seawater-eaten iPhone 12 which I can't even boot any more).

So I go into the Samsung Shop App to get 10% off? First time user means $5?
I'm still not clear how to get a trade in credit of $500… or the $100 bonus loyalty code. I do have the $100 cashback saved for Amex.

      • First time user is 5% not $5 :D

how to get a trade in credit of $500

Select Yes for a trade-in while ordering the phone. If you don't have any phone to trade-in then choose Samsung and any phone with a $5 trade-in value. This will automatically apply a discount of $500+$5 to the total.

Do note that an admin fee of $60 will be charged if you fail to send in a trade-in device and obviously you will loose any trade-in value for the device that was discounted during the purchase. In this case, you will get a net bonus of $435 (500 - 65)

        the $100 bonus loyalty code

This is done via live chat with samsung reps. Check this out for hints

    • Hello, some how i did the same as you but only drop to $1533.

      • did you factor in the Amex cashback? You will pay $1533 to Samsung when ordering the phone.

        • -1

          Nope. Dont have the card…
And this is how Samsung calculate Ultra 512
          Price: $2,399.00
          Trade-in Galaxy Tab S4 4G - $5.00
          Total savings with trade-in bonus+voucher -$605.00
          Total Inc. GST $1,794.00

          $1,794.00 - 10% = $1,614.6
          $1,614.6 - 5% = $1,533.87

          Damn rip off

      • yes, I factored in the AMEX cashback of $100 with my calculation.

    • hey did the Amex cashback track? As in did you get a mail from Amex confirming the use of the offer? The T&C said it is only when used in samsung.com.au and with the app it might have its own hooks backs into Samsung and might not use the direct website url

      • Yes, the amex offer tracking, I am seeing the $100 credit in my account despite using the app.

      • Also confirming my Samsung app order is classified as "Redeemed" in my AMEX app.

  • If you are Westpac customer, you can lower the price to $999 using this link https://www.samsung.com/au/multistore/westpac_offers_au/

    • How much for S24 Ultra and how many gbs

    • The trade-in is coming up as $250 only for a S24U 512gb with the westpac link, also the discount is only 15% compared to EPP at 20%.

Not sure how you ended up with $999 for a 512gb. It is much lower than what I paid for mine during the pre-order (I paid $1187 with a $5 trade-in + a bunch of promo)

      • That's for S24 256GB, I never understood why you need more than 128GB :)

        • +1

ah right, since your comment was right after the breakup for the S24U I misunderstood that it was for that variant. As for the storage, my rationale is if I end up keeping the phone for 7yrs then I can get away without having to clean up junk to free up space :P

        • 256gb is minimum for me.

Photos over time start taking up lots of space. The once you add all your apps…

I had my 128gb 7a for about 8 months and I started to get space anxiety even after culling some apps. Had about 30gb free space… Imagine if I kept the phone for 3-4 years?

          • @Circly: I don't store photos on the phone, every night my Pixel 1 downloads fresh photos from my current S20 over wifi and uploads to free unlimited uncompressed storage at Google Photos :)

            • @alenpln: Majority of people don't have that old Google perk… So can you understand why people want 256gb now?

              • +1

@Circly: You still have a backup somewhere, right? Because if you lose this phone, you'll lose your photo and video…

    • teach me sensei

  • I think Amaysim is selling S24 for $1049

  • additional 5% off for your first time purchase through the app. just make new account to get it.

    edit broken link.

    • Is that through edu store?

      • Works with either the edu store (if you have an edu account) or main store.

    • How do you get the $750 off

  • +1

FYI - super easy to get $100 trade in bonus voucher codes too.

    • I have tried to get a voucher via chat, but nothing. What are you asking for?
First just asked for loyalty discount, no dice. Then asked for trade in voucher, again no dice

      • I said I use samsung watch/earbuds with my non-samsung branded phone, and want to come across - and just ask if they can help me out a little with a promo code or additional bonus. never mentioned loyalty of trade in voucher - just wanting to 'come across' seemed to be enough.

      • I just said I was thinking about moving from a Pixel to the S24 Ultra and if they could help with any more discounts/vouchers. They gave a voucher based on trade in straight away.

      • I'm not sure if the sales teams are different, when I tried the online chat they said to email, bla bla bla to get the voucher.

However, when I used the whatsapp Samsung chat they gave it to me straight away.

        • Yep, I also went through WhatsApp.

          • @tof: I cannot find the Samsung WhatsApp chat on their website. Where should i start?

            • +1

@airhitam: Go the through the web live chat and try to speak to an agent. It will give you an option of chatting in the browser or WhatsApp.

    • just tried on whatsapp and was shut-down so i guess YMMV.

  • If you are trading in a phone to buy the S24 Ultra will they only send the Ultra only until the trade in device has been received?

And if you don't send the trade in device what is the penalty for not doing so?

    Thank You

    • You receive the device and then send your trade-in device.

      Maximum penalty: Trade-In Value +$60

  • Anyone has the invalid trade-in ID issue?
Can't put my trade-in ID in

    • No issues last night, my trade-in went through fine on the app.

      • +1

Thank you for the reply. Finally get it through by using the Samsung store checkout flow to create the trade-in ID instead of using the trade-in app.

        • Seems like they changed it so that codes generated in the app are for in store only.

  • +2

I get a 5% off coupon code for S24 series from Samsung Wallet which can be stacked with the current discount.
If you are a Samsung Wallet user, worth having a check if you have that as well.

    • How do you find that coupon code?

      • +1

Open the Samsung Wallet app, should be in the Menu-Promotion section

        • Legend thank you! Order placed $1297 S24 Ultra :)

        • Giving that a shot with an old S21U - haven't seen it yet, but hopefully it will appear after it updates over and over.

          • @Rogue01: I think the Wallet app promo was end on yesterday (14/04/2024)

            • @eddyfly: Of course 🤬😆

I want this phone but I'm refusing to pay so much. If I can get it right down near to Nubia Z60 Ultra at $1,100 (even if I have to do a proper trade P7P), I'll pull the trigger. I reckon this extra 5% would've been close enough.

  • +1

    Thanks OP! Bought S24 Ultra 128GB for $1,362.87 (+$60 later for non-return)
    ($2,1999 - $500 trade in bonus - $100 voucher from support chat - $5 watch value) * 0.85 (shop app bonuses)

    • How did you get 128Gb? ;)

      • Oops! Lucky I didn't!!
