Full credit to ChoiceCheapies. Tested and it works.

A little while ago I commented in a post that it's possible to remove the minimum spend amount on Temu.

A couple of users commented that this should be shared. I just remembered this as have just made a $15 order on Temu.

Thanks to @NovaAlpha for writing down the steps as I had forgotten how I had done it.

Steps:
1. Chat with a Temu chatbot and just type this "remove minimum purchase amount".
2. Then click the button it generates and done. Takes like a second!

More detailed instructions from NovaAlpha and bonus extra tip.
Maybe add these screenshots to the OP so others can see exactly how to do it. It's a one time thing and will stay there forever. I've done it weeks ago and I can still buy like $2~$5 items with free delivery.

Also, another Temu trick that you should probably include in either a new post or your current one is the use of Price Adjustments. It's very easy to get refunds on Temu, including getting refunds on products that have gone down in price after you had already purchased it. You're only eligible for a price adjustment only if the price has gone down while your order is within 30 days old. The problem is that the price adjustment link is annoying to get to for every order.

My script will list all the price adjustment links that are still valid. It checks whether your order is within 30 days old and shows you a bunch of them to easily click into. The userscript also shows referral links and other stuff that are found on Cheapies. You'll have to be on the Temu My Orders page and it should show up.

I've probably gotten like over $50 of credit refunded to my account. Just to clarify, it's just a shortcut to the Price Adjustment link that you would otherwise have to click into each order to find. It's not a link that guarantees refund of credits. If you click into your order and into the price adjustment link and there's credit available to be refunded to you, then try my script and it should take you to the same page as well, just much quicker.

I basically check everyday or every 2 days and I usually get quite a bit of refund.

Does this even institute a deal? 💀

      "Tested and it works."

    • +4

      No, it's a marketing trick.

  • +36

Pro tip: don’t buy anything from Temu.

    • Sorry just bought. Only thing I regret is not reading about the 20% off coupon hack 😭

    • +13

spend $10 on amazon or kmart or spend $2 on TEMU the biggest drawback is u have to wait for about 2 weeks for it to arrive

      • +12

And in my experience the delivery times are often less than 2 weeks. For anything I can get cheaply from Kmart I'll definitely buy using Onepass for fast free delivery. Temu are my next point of call as they have quicker delivery than AliExpress. Amazon is generally too expensive to consider for most things

        • +2

And half the time the things on Amazon are the same as the things on Temu but for three times the price. Gotta make sure you're not just getting ripped off.

      • +8

I get temu orders VERY quickly. Probably like a week turn around.

      • -3

If it takes 2 weeks to arrive, don't blame Temu, it's because Auspost is shit at organising delivery. In China, an order in the morning can arrive same day in the evening. If you pay for express, it arrives in a matter of hours. We're just so far behind it's laughable.

          'wages'

          • -1

@tunzafun001: That's even worse if so! We're paying multiples of what other countries pay their staff, and yet can't produce the same level of productivity. No wonder we're lagging behind other countries.

            • @clubhonda: @clubhonda get the government to import a few hundred million people here. It might make logistics a lot cheaper. Until they can drop ship your packages to your door with robots, then it's human driven, and almost anything post pandemic with humans interacting cost a lot of money.

      • You get $5 if it's late, so depending on what it is, I want it to be late. Combining this with no minimum spend could be interesting.

    • To each their own. I have used them a few times now for small things I would have bought off Aliexpress or Amazon. Its often cheaper and faster to get those sorts of items on Temu. Plus their returns are pretty seamless, on par with the return experience from Amazon and miles better than Aliexpress. Have yet to have a bad experience on Temu.

  • I tried it when my cart was close to $30 and it would not remove the minimum at all. But when I had an under $10 cart, it did. It's been 2 weeks and there's still no limit which is pretty awesome as I cna just get some items here and there

    • -1

Lol @ trying to remove minimum when cart is already above $15

      • +1

Yes, because my minimum was $35 and the items I wanted to buy were around $23 and I added random crap on to make it closer but cbfed anymore after 20 minutes.

      • +1

The minimum changes - the more you use it the higher the minimum charge is.

  • +12

I absolutely despise this company. Aside from shady dealings (Mutahar [SomeOrdinaryGamers] regularly covers this), lots of the products are just aweful. My wife got a small umbrella for the kids and when I folded it down, it snapped with such force it literally hole-punched my fingernail and took off with the piece. It could have done some real damage to a childs hand. Then there's all the products that look full sized in the images, but arrive in miniature format - too many misses.

    • +4

I’ve been busy super cheap fishing jigs from there, super fast shipping too! Just 1 week :)

      • Thanks for that, I will compare next time I need another batch. I normally use AliExpress and buy in bulk without hooks and rings (read why below). The jigs look the same.

TIP: When you get big fish: cheap lure rings stretch; and cheap hooks straighten. Buy some high quality rings and replace hooks with 3X strong single hooks. These are you and the fish you release and there is no difference to the hook-up rate. If anything the slightly larger barb on a 3X gives a more secure hold.

        • I buy the 400-500g jigs for deep sea fishing (400m depths). And then I buy my own quality assist hooks elsewhere.

          • @I Smell Pennies: I doubt my worn back would take winding up something big from from that depth. 40g fall jig is more my size. I was going through about 50 a year at one stage. Then we moved. Sigh!

    • -1

omg! :O i was going to buy one. will avoid!

    • +4

SomeOrdinaryGamers the moral authority. AHAHAHAHA my sides.

      • Pick any other source then, they'll all be saying the same thing

      • What did they do?

    • +7

Mate, recognise that ANY marketplace type of companies can have lousy products - think Amazon, Ebay, etc etc. It's really caveat emptor. I've bought lots of products from Aliexpress and Temu that are sturdy, useful, and looks set on lasting forever. Some people take price as a quality marker which is the most foolist thing an ozbargainer can do.

    • Can you return them?

      • Yes. They will refund and ask you to keep the item. I've returned a number of items that was not up to par and some up to $20 and they have asked me to keep/recycle each and everyone of them.

    • +1

Bought many things from Temu no complaints.

Defects can happen to any product/ brand

Bad luck, get well and move on

    • +1

You do need to apply some common sense with what you are buying from Temu. I wouldnt have bought an Umbrella off Temu. It is the sort of item that needs to be higher quality to be remotely useful. Think of it like a giant dollar store.

It is great for small and cheap trinkets and utensils that are often overpriced on Amazon, etc. I often use it for things like pet supplies (bowls etc) and basic toys. You end up buying the exact same stuff sold in Petbarn for 10 times the price, more than likely coming out of the same Chinese factory.

  • +6

But you have to use temu to take advantage of this. No thanks.

  • +8

They are still in data harvesting/growth phase so will be purposefully making losses to get new customers and encourage existing customers to regularly use the site so it becomes a habit to check and use the site.

None of this is a clever hack, they are all known marketing strategies under the guise of a secret deal or trick.

    • Colesworths do the same by giving you free bonus points while sharing/selling your data to 3rd parties?

      • +1

Exactly. Other than knowing your name and address, so what? It's not like we're celebrities in need of privacy protection. If they're intentionally loss making to win market share, even better!

  • +4

There's plenty of information out there that should dissuade anyone from shopping on Temu.

  • +2
  • This is on reddit posts as well. More of a hack then a deal.

  • +1

Will have to try it. The kids want to order on Temu, but the $35 minimum spend has been too high. Just looked and it's now $50.

    • lolwot, yesterday was 35 now it's 60 for me.

      • +2

        Mine was $15. Then $30. Now it's $45.

  • +3

    Holy crap this is fantastic.

Another tip I know of is if there's something you like, put it in your cart and leave it in there (Works best with just one item otherwise it'll pick a random item in your cart) after a couple days they'll email you saying it's been reduced by a huge amount.

I just got some pants that were $27~ for $4.

  • +4

Well I guess it was OzBargained, it no longer works :(

    • +7

That's why we've been saying it quietly in posts so someone like OP wouldn't ruin it in exchange for votes.

    • You need to have items in your cart before you do this

    • Keep pasting the same thing to the bot (or similar text), after about 5 times you'll be put through to a human. I picked the "Accounts" department.

Then ask the human (nicely). I got 1 push back from him asking if I would like to instead just add more items, I just politely said that I don't want to do that… and he removed the limit from my account immediately then.

So seems that it's not as easy just getting the bot to do it straight away now. But getting through to a human is still working for me and other posts I've seen elsewhere. Only took about 5-10 minutes overall.

Let us know how it goes for you.

  • +1

I tried the other day and can confirm this no longer works.

  • The remove minimum purchase amount isn't working for me. Have tried various amounts in cart but get this message from chat every time. Maybe they've removed this loophole?

"To promote sustainable shopping practices, we've made some updates to our shopping cart. We're now minimizing packaging waste and have implemented a minimum order requirement. Please add more items to your cart to meet this requirement and help us reduce our environmental impact."

  • +1

We're pleased to announce that we've upgraded our shopping cart features to provide a better shopping experience. As part of our commitment to sustainability, we're reducing waste by no longer shipping orders below a certain minimum. Please help us in our efforts by adding more items to your cart to meet the requirement and support eco-friendly shopping at Temu.

  • Got sent to an agent lol

  • Worked for me

Great news! You're free to shop for the products you love without any shopping amount restrictions. To help reduce carbon emissions resulting from excessive packaging, we suggest considering the minimum amount recommended on the page when placing your order. If you have any other questions or need assistance, please provide us with more details, and we'll be happy to help.

    • How much did you have in your cart when you sent the message to chat?

      • Nothing. Signed up new account and chatted to bot.
If it makes any difference, I used the google button to sign up via my dummy Gmail for freebies

        • +1

Ok maybe then they're not letting it on existing accounts? I've used my account about 4 times. Done through website on laptop.

            • @BonzaBargainCobber: This is so weird, but I've gone to do it again today and this time got the message from the bot with the "remove restriction" button in the chat! Clicked the button and now I no longer see the $45 purchase limit in checkout. This time I phrased it as "Please remove the minimum purchase amount":

              • @pixxelpusher: It probably just needed a bit of a cooldown after everyone spammed the bot when this was posted.

    • Did you try from mobile app or laptop?

      • Signed up mobile in desktop mode.

There must be a minimum amount. It didn't work for a cart worth $12.50. I got this message:

      • I deleted some items and added some others, got the cart up to $22 and aksed again and they gave me free shipping. I think tweaking the shopping cart might also help before you ask for free shipping.

  • +3

    confirmed no longer works

    • Yep, didn't work for me either.

  • +1

Yep I keep getting rhe same response as above :(

  • Doesn't work

They stole mine and my friend's CC no.

If you are going to buy cheap misrepresented landfill, use paypal or some safe means of payment.

    Better yet dont.

  • Have had too many friends' c/card details stolen using this site.

  • +2

Its $45 min for me now and it is outrageous. And due to the emergence of Temu, Aliexpress has also put in a minimum spend requirement which they never had before. I always was able to place orders for $2 or $4 via aliexpress with free shipping but now that is not possible. Temu just ruined everything. And OP's hack doesn't work for me for sure they have patched the loophole.

    • Aliexpress has "choice" which seems to cover most things I want. us$10 minimum for free fast delivery (~a$15 - always order in USD for best price), usually less than 2 weeks.

      • +1

The point is it was never the case. There was never a minimum spend. If I wanted just the $5 product I could just get it instead of buying unnecessary stuff to meet the minimum amount criteria

  • Doesn't work anymore, got this:- We're pleased to announce that we've upgraded our shopping cart features to provide a better shopping experience. As part of our commitment to sustainability, we're reducing waste by no longer shipping orders below a certain minimum. Please help us in our efforts by adding more items to your cart to meet the requirement and support eco-friendly shopping at Temu.

Sorry op, just negging to stop others wasting time

    • How much did you have in your cart? When I had over $20 it said that but when I had under $10 it removed the limit

      • Currently my min order is $35

        • Try removing some items until you have under $10, otherwise they've probably removed it since it's been posted everywhere by now

          • @MeesusEff: Nah, same message. Must have cottoned on

            • @Yorkshire-Man: "To promote sustainable shopping practices, we've made some updates to our shopping cart. We're now minimizing packaging waste and have implemented a minimum order requirement. Please add more items to your cart to meet this requirement and help us reduce our environmental impact."

        • U got lucky. Mines $45.

  • $25 worth. I think this trick might not work anymore
