Sounds rather tacky using ANZAC Day as a reason for a sale.

Melatonin prices have pretty much doubled over last couple of months

    • +1

Cheaper than prescription over here though

    • mine were $13.62 last September, now $15.64

      • Natrol 3mg Time Release? I was just checking my last order from 2023. The Australia dollar is a bit weaker now :( Once upon a time they were under $10 AUD a bottle. I though you only needed to order $40 or $50 worth to qualify for free shipping; the threshold seems to have doubled.

Only Circadin (2mg sustained release) is officially sold in Australia. Like ALL sleeping tablets (hypnotics is the technical term), it is not PBS subsidized, just a Private Schedule 4 Prescription. Chemist Warehouse price is $36. So expensive simply because Circadin has been granted a government monopoly.

America is supposed to have more expensive healthcare, but non prescription supplements and some non PBS subsidized drugs are considerably cheaper than in Oz.

Swanson Melatonin, 1 mg, 120 Capsules is still cheap, $6.92

I always find iHerb have these sales but jack their prices by the sale amount prior to the sale…

  • Looking for a decent Magtein/Magnesium L-Threonate any suggestions? Prefer doesn't have junky filler/additive

EDIT: Using https://au.iherb.com/pr/doctor-s-best-high-absorption-magnes…, but always after some more discount, coz Im an Ozbargain.

Hey mate. From my experience magnesium in powder form is only absorbed very poorly no matter with amino acid its bound to.

      Topical magnesium works much better.
You can get Magnesium Chloride very cheap in Coles.
Add a little boiling water to the flakes and it turns into magnesium oil.
I rub it all over my body and rinse it off after 20min.
It works so well that my body craves it.

      Your friendly naturopath :)

      • Do you have a link to the specific one you recommend?

          Coles.com.au

      • Do you have a research paper? I've been taking Mg for a while now, lately Magnesium Threonate. Im taking it for brain health. Others professional suggest otherwise https://www.youtube.com/shorts/bTNKHrg6_E8, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RwYKnxLxsZ0.

Ofc I do other things on top sleep, sunlight, nutrition, workout ect, not just supplement

          • @tonester: Solaray Higher Absorption Magnesium Glycinate is a diff form of Mag though

        • +1

Mag Threonate is a nootropic which targets the brain, and also modulates brain function via interaction with the gut biome. This makes it different to other forms, aswell as expensive. There's some online store in Oz that sells it as a bulk powder, though still very dear.

      • I'm also interested on how you came to the idea that Mg is better absorbed through the skin.

This review seems to suggest otherwise?

  • The ANZAC22 code isn't applying to all items in my cart….so it's not sitewide.

Doesn't appear to be applied to some items on special.

  • Looking for St John's wort. Anyone with good recommendations?

    • +3

Just be aware it interacts with loads of medication so if you’re taking anything check out if it’s safe.

    • +1

I downloaded a PDF list of prohibited & restricted plants in Oz (several pages long, which is ridiculous), and St John's Wort was in the restricted section, so you won't be growing your own. Outlawing plants is totalitarian crazy. I thought the left loved Gaia/Mother Nature.

    Tacky.
