For those confused like me, "Google Nest Cam Indoor or Outdoor Battery" is the camera name.

This isn't a deal for the battery only. It's four battery-powered cameras ;)

    • Yeah can be used as battery or hard wired too. I don't think this solar panel is sold in Australia but could be useful to extend the periods of having to manually charge them.

Just checked and seems it can actually be ordered and delivered within Oz from Google - quoted a four day delivery to a Sydney postcode.

Great pair-up with the cam.. I might just make the jump myself.

I have a few of these (plus solar). The solar charges slowly but it's enough to keep it topped up. It doesn't charge beyond high 60% to save the battery health.

        • +1

In true ozbargain fashion I need to point out the solar panels from AliExpress are around $25-$30 and work flawlessly. The price google charges for the cables for these is insane

    eufy or this?

    • +1

      Eufy FTW

    • +1

i moved from this to eufy after the google ones put up the subscription price
the google cameras worked great but the features are so limited without the subscription.

i've been really happy with the eufy cameras and have found no difference in quality of recording and functions

for me i got more value from eufy who don't require a subscription for basic features

  • +2

    Needs subscription right ?

    • -5

Is this a question or statement?

      • +3

What is this punctuation mark at the end of the sentance ?

        • People keep asking that question each time there is a Ring or Nest deal on here, either they are born new or their Google isn't working.

        • +2

          I'm Ron Burgundy ?

    • -1

Yeah if you want historical recording more then 7-days

      • +5

More than a few hours, not days! I think 3hrs.

        • +2

Yes. Only 3hrs. But there than best i think where subscription is per device i think

        • +1

          i stand corrected.
I do like the convenience so have the full subscription.
However you do need good wifi to connect remotely.

        • 3 hours for time, not footage. I bought one thinking 3 hours worth recording. But still ok

    • yes left!

I have these and they're not good at all. Delayed recording starts, frequent trouble connecting to the cameras when away meaning you miss seeing whats happening when you get notified. Had Arlo's previously and they were much much better. Have yet to try Eufy to compare.

    • +1

Funny. I had Arlo then moved to this and this was like night and day to my Arlo experience. I'd never touch another Arlo product again. Horrible experience.

Haven't owned a Eufy yet, but I found no issues with Nest or Ring, I like the idea of remote backup.

    • +1

Guess it depends how you use them and what subscription you have. I have them hooked up to constant power and have the nest 24/7 video history and haven't had an issues with them.

  • +3

Up to 1080p at 30 FPS

    no thanks…

  • Using 1080p outdoor cam in 2024 lol…

    • +1

      My tv up scales 😜

      • 😂😂😂👍

  • I thought Google Shut down Nest

  • Surely some 4k poe reolinks for half the price are better

  • Tapo C325WB is the best outdoor I've had.. The night vision is unmatched.

  • +3

    Google security is an oxymoron.

  • I have both EUFY and an indoor nestcam. Both perform equally, with a bit of a delay in capturing videos. The biggest drawback with Nestcam is that it is subscription based to record. Spot notifications are free. I think last it was like $8/month per device, so I use it only when going away on holiday.
You will be looking at a hefty monthly bill with 4 cams!

    • +1

1 subscription should cover all your cameras, not 1 sub per device.

      • +2

yep, looks like they have now made it one price for all devices at $12/month

  • +1

In my experience, the Google cameras are alright but could be better. I have a doorbell with solar, 1 outdoor with solar and 1 wired indoor. The battery/solar powered devices are sometimes a little slow to turn on. The wired devices are very reliable though and have never missed a beat AFAIK. I'm considering putting wired everywhere but battery has the advantage of working if power is out.

For me the subscription is worth it as my footage is safely stored in the cloud and you can view it on any device.

    • +1

      home.google.com great for the desktop

    • +1

If your power is out, the battery won't help much.
I got a few battery nest cam. In Feb there was a massive power outage & NBN outage across Melbourne.
NBN was down for a week. My nest cams keeps trying to communicate with Google server which drains the battery from 80% to 0% within 18 hours.
So if there is no power to your modem or NBN is down for >12 hrs. That's it.

That's the only cons with nest cams IMO, I got a few nest cams, both wired/wireless, indoor/ outdoor/ floodlight.
Very happy with them. I only turn on subscription when I am away from home for days.

Data security and privacy is my top concern. I trust Google more than Chinese brands that owned by the Communist Party.
I am well acknowledge Google is not 10 out of 10 in terms of privacy. But at least I know my footage won't be used to train Chinese AI and my naked body won't be exposed on dark web.

dont bother.. google likes to ditch their products if it doesnt work in their favour…. i see very poor take up rate. and you'd soon be left with an ornament to "scare" thieves away

  • Don't know why you would ever buy battery powered security cams. Do it properly with an nvr and poe cams
