  • Just watched a review on this. why are security camera so ass, especially compared to something like dashcams.

    • Chinese brands are the top ones for security cameras, normally it is the other way around. Hikvision and Dahua are the most reputable commercial brands for a reason.

      • ill have a look, thank you.

      • Are Dahua gear overpriced though?

I managed to pick up a new tripod for one of their covid cameras that retails for like $350+, for like $30? It just looks like a sturdy lightbox stand.. 😅

  • Does this play nicely with Home assistant and Frigate?

  • +2

Ive a C310 its reliable but AI person detection isnt great endless triggers on spidewebs is annoying

    • I tried decreasing the sensitivity and it improved a lot in c320ws

  • Good price on this one too.

Might be worth adding it into the main post.

    • how is this one different to the C325WB? 360deg pan and tilt would be a plus I'd imagine? trying to decide which one to stick at the front of the house for driveway and front yard

      • +1

Based on a quick scan through, the C325WB has a resolution of 1440p instead of 1080p and it appears that the Night Vision capabilities are more effective.

    • Note that you require a subscription for motion tracking on tapo ptz cams

      • This is no longer the case with their indoor cams, they made it free sometime last year. Is a subscription still needed motion tracking for outdoor cams?

        • Oh really? That's great to hear as I'm thinking about buying one.

          Have the c310, c320 already

  • Quick question, if my house has no internet capabilities can i still use a camera to record motion detections with a sdcard while i'm away from the house? Obviously when i'm home i'm able to use my phone wifi to view live camera feed.

    • You should be able to. Make sure you set up via WiFi though.

  • I got two of the tapo c310 for $74 each recently.

Biggest difference is no white LEDs but I found the camera sensor is good enough so that I don't turn on the IR LEDs and still get full colour night vision with low ambient light (I have a street light nearby).

Great quality image but the AI detection is a bit rubbish. The line crossing doesn't work that effectively.

  • I have this and this is an awesome camera, highly recommend to anyone.
Good price makes it even better.
No IR and no flood light, still works great at night.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=svi3zM5h9NY this video shows how good it is.

    • The main issue with this model is that if it is too dark for the sensors, the camera relies on the spotlights to remain turned on in order to provide additional lighting, as this model does not have IR for night vision.

  • I think it does not come with built-in battery. You need to connect the power cable, right?

    • Yes. Requires power to be plugged in

  • Would be all over this if it were to support PoE.
Requiring an electrical outlet within 10feet of an outdoor camera is not really 2024. Would be able to fudge around this, but still..

  • Anyone know if this one is magnetic or has like a magnetic mount included? Thanks.

    • +1

      No it doesnt

      • Thank you kindly.
