Yeah I know, who cares about the Pentax Q when you can get larger sensor mirrorless cameras like Micro Four Thirds or the NEX systems? I myself am already heavily invested in Micro Four Thirds. But (1) this is a pretty sweet price, and (2) it seems like it's actually capable of taking some very nice looking pics at the hands of a competent shooter. I haven't done an extensive search so I don't know if this is the cheapest but the nearest price I've found is close to double the price of this. Whether or not it's good value, I'll leave that up to you. I think there's already a newer model so you might want to keep that in mind if you're thinking of getting this. EDIT: Apparently it's been discontinued. Thanks for the info shawn_low.

        well i don't really like the shutter button either, i thought the shutter button is like those very old fashion camera type of button…and it turns out totally different than what i had expected.
        other than that, everythings looks great to me….and it is very very tiny….the battery too…it really looks like a piece of chocolate to me…haha =)

    Picked one up from Erina NSW today. Apparently there was demo + 6 units this morning (one of which is now mine), but by 11:30am, only the demo was left.

    Also, seeing as there are a lot of people who have commented who are new to cameras with more control, check out the Photography course on DVD (http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/85149) it's very simple to understand and will help you get a lot more out of your camera.

    my order hasnt arrived however Teds was able to provide me with a tracking number, so now i can stop hassling them. Might have been a good idea to given it to me at the start. Excellent phone, customer service however.

    Got my Q today, here's my timeline..

    13/11 (~11pm) - Order placed.
    13/11 (~11pm) - New order email received from Teds's
    15/11 (~11am) - Shipment email received from Ted's
    21/11 - Got my Q.

    There's a tracking number provided which can be tracked via Australia Post's website.. As others have said earlier.. hopefully next time Ted will send another email advising the tracking number.

      i personally prefer hard screen protector
      they are tough and not easy to come off, easy to stick on with no bubbles cuz it doesnt touch your screen at all.
      but the minor side is they are little bit more expensive also u might get dust below the screen protector if u didnt stick it probably.
      i got one installed on my xz1, i like it.
      ordered one for the q now.

        I've mastered putting on the plastic screen protector (make sure there's no dust, spray the thing with water before applying) so I usually go with those. They're cheap and I forget that it's on.

        My brother was throwing away his used iPad screen protector and I got it off him so I've just been cutting that to whatever size I need. How's that for being a cheapskate? ;)

        The hard ones are okay too if you don't wanna have to deal with the hassle of applying the plastic ones and possibly getting air bubbles.

    Got mine a few days ago, it's a great little camera. I was boring my wife last night telling her about all the features and settings and the thing is so damn small it jumped out of my hand, landed on the side of the bed (hard wood) and cracked the corner of the lens thread…F@#K!!!!

      It's a small dent and it didn't hit the element, so at least i won't be as precious about it. I'm a K10D through to a K-5 owner so I'm used to having quite durable bodies, I think I'll have to be a little more careful with this one.

    I have to tell this, I ordered and payed on Nov 16, received an e-mail that my order was processed for delivery on Nov 19, but when I called this morning (Nov 23) they told me they haven't shipped it yet and will do it next week. I am travelling overseas next week and expected to receive my order this week, but sigh…

      Hey, you're not so bad, I ordered on the 13th, and it's still "In Transit" apparently, although this is a great deal, I honestly must say Ted's is complete bullshit when it comes to handling orders, especially for the people who order early, so the earlier you order the more they penalise you.

      Absolutely hate their service, not to mention when you chat to them on their Web portal, the people on there are completely unhelpful.

        Guess what Ted's personnel called me yesterday and said my pentax q will be delivered next week. I told him that another personnel promised and confirmed to me last Monday that it will be shipped that day. So I insist that mine be shipped because I am travelling overseas at the end of the week. It is really a big mess, this pentax q sales.

    I bought the camera on 14NOV and got a call from the shop in South Melbourne the day. The staff told me to pick it up at Melbourne city store on Elizabeth St. but I haven't heard anything from them yet. I sent an email to Ted on Wed this week, but no response :(

      Most international deliveries take 3 weeks for me, unless you pay for expedited shipping? I got carded today by Aus post, hopefully it's the camera, can't tell cause there's no tracking number (hopefully that means it's domestic and the only thing I've order from Australia is the camera :) )

        yeah, but the Ted staffs keep saying the shipments are from melb. unless they pay someone to walk from melb, usually interstate delivery takes 1-2-3 days max. this already went for full 5 working days now (plus weekend!)

          I suspect they pack it really quick and it gets put in a van but it takes a while before the van is full and then they have to wait for someone to drive it to the post office. All up weeks pass.

    I just got a missed a call, voicemail, saying it will be shipped out at the end of the week, seriously Teds, WTF? You send me an email saying it's shipped, when it's still stuck in your warehouse, yeah that's a really smart move and a dick move too.

    I will never ever buy a single from you guys, not only are you incompetent, but you can't handle customer care.

    At least you can have the decency to ship it via express post, so I can have it faster. Seriously, 3 weeks to process my order, you guys are a joke.

    So I called them, apparently, the e-mails for shipment, was erroneous, and they have no stock to ship out, excellent handling… not, I'm pretty peeved off by this, has left with the utmost sour taste of dealing with Ted's.

    I know I'm going to get neg'ed for this by the troll's or the ones who received it so fast, but the fact is, a lot of us who ordered earliest, and is now dicked around and screwed by them.

    I am quite irritated by this as well, I ordered it quite early and still haven't received any calls. The erroneous emails I got from Teds saying it was shipped just was the shitty icing on the cake, as I've wasted my time going in twice now, without any words other than "We will call you when it comes in".

    I needed this camera for an overseas trip; luckily I had a contingency plan, I never would have ordered if I knew it was going to be this bad. No wonder Australian retailers are going down the sink, if they all operate like this there's no saving the industry.

    where is the rep. at the beginning very active, also the online support emails. now disappeared and never reply emails anymore…still believe we all will get the camera, but the question is why their system is so "unique" (last order first out).

    oh, actually i got personal email from their online support (not automatic email) on 19/11/12 morning:
    "Hi xxx, your order is in transit to the store. It will be ready for collection tomorrow."

    Please ted rep, explain to us?

    Hi guys, Rep here. My fault for not logging in for the past week.

    In an effort to be as transparent as possible here are the facts as it stands right now.

    Ted's sold 615 Pentax Q's during the promotion - about two thirds of these to the Oz Bargain community.

    Our warehouse in Melbourne incorrectly marked around 45 of the last to be shipped orders as complete when they were not. This has led to confusion for our customers and our service team in locating orders and giving accurate information. We had to wait for these units to arrive from our supplier.

    30 of these orders were shipped yesterday and the last 15 will be today. We have attempted to contact all affected customers to advise of the delay and new shipment times.

    Ted's sincerely apologises for the delay and inconvenience to the customers still patiently waiting for their Q's.

    I urge any customer who has not received their Q and has not been contacted to please call our team on 1800186895 or email at [email protected]

      finally, an explanation.
      if you have in in your hand yesterday/today in Melb, can you guarantee it will arrive in your own store in Sydney today or latest by tomorrow friday 30/11/2012?
      you should be able to answer this, because its just between warehouse and your own store.

      just a correction: the 2/3 are from ozb, bought from you, then told their friends to make up the rest of 1/3.
      if we need to wait another weekend i suggest you compensate us with a store credit :)

    I don't receive my camera until today , I called them almost everyday and the manager of the store gave me a fake tracking number to satisfy me , when i check online with Australia post same message was there for 10 days , when i talk to them they blamed Australia post , When I call them yesterday manager told that tracking number is not valid and promiss me to send out ysterday and provide a new tracking number , How can they blame Australia post for their delay , How can I escalate this issue with Australia post and informed them

      I doubt it's AusPost's fault, it's Ted's being dodgy, and issuing non-active tracking numbers, meaning they haven't even sent out the item. Ted's is probably the most dodgiest seller I've dealt with, even worse than some of the asian gray online camera stores.

        i bought from dwi and citiwide, 3 days arrive by DHL, will continue recommending and buying from them.
